Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
nymphadora · 04/12/2010 19:57

I got introduced at baby clinic as a novelty for bfeeding :(

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 04/12/2010 20:04

Nymph Gosh thats horrid behaviour on the part of the clinic.

Seashells I'm of the opinion that a lot of HV are a bit mad, mine certainly is.

DS is having some marathon feeds today, he's normally averaging about twenty minutes a feed. Today I've had a couple of hour long feeds, I'm preparing myself for the possibility of a night of even more interupted sleep.

nymphadora · 04/12/2010 20:22

I was gutted , my last HV was fab but these are like baby police! My own this time seems ok , quite old school & ranted about the needs for sone of their role( she knows what I do!)

tiredfeet · 04/12/2010 20:28

Nymph that's such a shame, hope you are standing up for yourself. I am in favour of people being supported if they choose to forumla feed but it is a huge shame that so many of us are being pushed towards it when we didn't want to.

nymphadora · 04/12/2010 21:06

Oh I will don't worry about that Grin I think they see me as unusual for bf rather than weird IYSWIM

moonstorm · 04/12/2010 23:40

Found you! x Will try to post more when I get more time - feeling left out Xmas Wink

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 05/12/2010 10:07

Moonstorm I was wondering how you were getting on with BF after all your issues. I hope they're getting resolved now.

nymphadora · 05/12/2010 10:24

Trying to tidy but feeding constantly this am!

moonstorm · 05/12/2010 13:36

Thanks for thinking of me! I was thinking of tentatively posting to say I think we've made it to the other side with the breastfeeding! Thrush is gone [fingers crossed] grapefruit seed extract tablets really helped. There's still some pain on the right side, but is getting better. I can enjoy feeding again Smile.

I just need to get bedtime sorted (ds is currently sleeping on or next to me) and all will be perfect. I like co-sleeping, but am a bit nervous while he is so young.

Hope snow is going for those who want it to.

x

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 05/12/2010 15:10

Moonstorm You could try using a water bottle to heat the basket/crib and using a nightie or a t-shirt you've worn the night before as a sheet. Thats what we've been doing and DS does tend to settle quite well when I make the transfer from me to basket.

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 15:37

moon where did you get the tablets from?? I need some but not sure where from. We also have thrush.

H I like the tshirt idea. I am going to try it! We have fewer successful transfers and in the early hours its tough going so I am open to anything! Currently aewaiting delivery of my slumber bear

nymphadora · 05/12/2010 15:46

Have started bleeding again and very much hoping it's not periods back already. Will be gutted!

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 15:54

Ditto!

moonstorm · 05/12/2010 16:17

Silver here

Have tried the hot water bottle, but will look into the t-shirt thing, thing is eeverything smells of sour milk (can't wear bra at night so have pads stuck in strategic pplaces on nightdress... Will use a dat t-shirt, though...

Let me know how slumber bear gets on!

sam12 · 05/12/2010 17:21

nymph I've started bleeding too. In fact was coming on here to ask you guys if it could be period yet. Thinking it is because I'm swinging from being furiously cross and really sad! Never used to get pmt but I suppose hormones are still all over the place

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 05/12/2010 17:50

Me too- I stopped within 2 weeks, restarted at 4 and 6 weeks for a few days. No idea whether a period or not, hv not concerned though.
Seemed to have pmt though!!

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 18:08

Thanks moon. Whats the dosage??

nymphadora · 05/12/2010 18:24

I stopped for 3 weeks so could be about time.

tiredfeet · 05/12/2010 18:35

Moonstorm glad your thrush is clearing Smile. I'm also co-sleeping with ds as it seems to be so much easier. Like you I am still a bit nervous about it. It is lovely though having all the nighttime cuddles. Hot water bottle trick has worked for us at times but co sleeping just seems easier

AbFabT · 05/12/2010 20:01

SeaSh, yeah, I think maybe one must watch the show to 'get' the lusting after Gene Hunt thing!!! :)

Hello, moon, nice to hear from you! We don't have enough snow here (London) for my liking - I WANT SNOW! Heard we are in for more soon though, so that's good!
We are happily co-sleeping, and I am very much loving it. I wake up in exactly the same position I went to sleep in, which is so not how I was pre-baby (arms and legs all over the place), and I feel really safe. But each to their own, if you don't feel confident, then maybe it's not for you.

Can't believe some of you are getting periods again. I would be happy to, as we'd love another littlie soon!

Am feeling all Christmassy - Xmas Smile - tree and lights are up, have found DS some ultra cute Christmas outfits (from Sainsburys, of all places - I hunted high and low, and found Sainsburys the nicest (imo!), and was only there in person as they couldn't deliver my online food order, so that was some silver lining, as I wouldn't have gone otherwise!!) Xmas Smile, got my annual Poinsettia plant, watching loads of Christmas movies, Xmas Smile and the Amazon orders for a few gifts for DS are arriving. It's all good! Xmas Grin

moonstorm · 05/12/2010 20:27

Silver 1-3 tablets a day. Much nicer than drinking the stuff.

Abfab Have some of our snow!!! Xmas Grin

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 20:29

DS also has Xmas outfits - Little Elf and a Christmas pudding!

I am trying to find some peronalised Thank you cards to send out but failing miserably. Any tips???

Wish we could co-sleep but HI is useless and thrashes about all over the shop. Few times he has boshed DS on the head whilst I have been feeding DS in the early hours. Half of me thinks I could probably do it but I am also nervous so think its best not to. Instead I have to contend with screamy baby not wanting to go in his Moses.

tiredfeet · 05/12/2010 20:39

Silver, we just printed lots of copies of a photo of ds when newborn and I wrote a thank you note on the back of each.was feeling to frazzled to spend ages hunting for personalised cards and like you we weren't having much luck

Abfab yes its spooky how you don't move an inch when sleeping with them. I used to flail around in bed before ds. Its why I never planned to, but I did it accidentally in hospital (fell asleep after breastfeeding) and after the initial shock when I woke up I realised how lovely it was, and much easier after ceasarean. That said, I am worried how and when we will persuade him into his cot!

SilverSky · 05/12/2010 20:48

tf how are you feeling after your CS? Are you driving etc?? eg: returned to normal???

AbFabT · 05/12/2010 21:06

DS has a snowman outfit, the others are just red with Christmas pictures or slogans on.

I did always plan to co-sleep, researched it and believe it's good for so many reasons. Not concerned about ever moving him out - in many countries families co-sleep for a few years, and the child moves when s/he is ready.
Silver, the most popular sleeping arrangement is mum in the middle, as the dads aren't as tuned in.
If you are keen to co-sleep, but scared, consider the SnuggleNest: www.amazon.co.uk/Snuggle-Nest-in-Pink/dp/B001B9ETTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291583030&sr=8-1
Silver, we have bought printing card for photos, and are doing our own thank you cards. I did look to get them done online but it was very expensive.
