Abfab Wow, very brave. My friend has twin boys and a four year old. She has perfected the art of being a swan, calm on the surface and swimming like mad underneath. We were discussing twins at a coffee/cake thing this morning. It was quite amusing, a lot of us have newborns and theres one who is pregnant and one who has a nine year old. All those with newborns said in no uncertain terms that they wouldn't want anymore than one at a time. I think the one with the nine year old had time and distant memories on her side.

Mine you me and my friend (who had a very lllloonnnnggggg labour and narrowly missed a c-section) did exchange a look when she airily said 'Oh I don't think I want to take gas and air, I want to do it on my own'. Hats off to her if she can, but gas and air is lovely. My friend described it best saying 'you're in the worst pain of your life and it makes you giggle, what more can you want'.

I was very very quiet before the gas and air, after the first hit I became a giggly chatterbox and literally spilled the beans on quite a number of subjects.

Floozie Yep life is indeed exciting, I stayed up past ten last night. I'm a woman on the edge.

DS is still a bit snuffly but he seemed to be a bit more perky today. I didn't sleep at all last night though as I kept waking up to each and every snuffle. I don't know.

AbFabT · 08/12/2010 21:58

tf - go! You can always go home early! I've been invited to RollerDisco on Friday - don't think I'll go, though for a split second I did picture me skating around with DS strapped to me in his sling!

floozie and Hermya, well, it's not like I can make it happen! Just saying I'd be happy if I got twins Xmas SmileXmas Smileor tripletsXmas SmileXmas SmileXmas Smile, get it done at once! I like the idea of a troop of children, but I met DH late (ish) so didn't get an early start! I know I am the same age as you were when you had your DS, floozie, and now you've got your second. I am truly grateful to have the one, any more is an extra blessing. And you just cope, don't you! I am sure if we did get multiples, my mum and MIL would both be round as often as we wanted them!

tiredfeet · 08/12/2010 22:13

Thanks for the encouragement! We made it and it was wonderful to be out and ds was behaving charmingly (well we whisked him off home when the grumbling began!)
Love the idea of a roller disco abfab I bet your ds would love it Grin

I want another fairly soon (but not multiples!) While I am on a career break anyway But from what I have read so far I think we need to wait a while before trying after a section. Also nervous about caring for ds if I get hyperemesis again... Hard to wait though as it took 19 months to conceive ds (worth the wait though!)

floozietoozie · 08/12/2010 23:21

So much for early bed. Had a bit if supper and was on the way then ds woke up crying, was slightly sick on his bed and had a temp of 39.2C. Hes now in bed with me not sleeping while I feed dd.... Could be a looooong night!

floozietoozie · 09/12/2010 02:29

Ok, shall we have a sweep on the first person to get pregnant again? Obviously Abfab is a favourite as the only declared runner at the moment but given Xavielli's contraceptive history she might be worth a punt too, snip notwithstanding.... Wink. I think me and Seashells are out of the game right now given the state of the bedroom action . Not sure about the rest of you!

Wonder how people like SamanthaB and KSal are getting on. We've lost a lot of posters post-natal haven't we? Also, what's happened to Elsa recently? Is she offline recently again does anyone remember?

nymphadora · 09/12/2010 07:25

SamB was reading buy not posting IIRC. Think elsa is offline.

6:15 instead of 5 this am so much more reasonable tome. Dd2 still coughing all night. Doubt she will be back at school before mon. Dd1 has her play today so hoping she hasn't succumbed yet as she is the lead my mum going to look after dd2 & offered for dd3 but think as she isn't 100% she wouldn't settle with someone different so she is coming with us & dh can take her out.

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 09/12/2010 07:44

Oh nymph proud mummy indeed! Hope it goes well :)

Floozie-I think I'm out of any sweep stake. We were having a family pile in this morning in bed with dd2 smiling and cooing, ds1 and dh wrestling and the dog skipping around. It felt complete :) plus impossible to have sex lol Grin

Tiredfeet-so glad you had a good night out!

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 09/12/2010 14:17

Abfab Sorry if that sounded judgey, it wasn't meant to be. I can actually imagine you with a troop of children, I think you'd be fab with them all.

Nymph Aww bless your DD! What part is she playing?

Floozie Yeah I wondered about that as well. Personally I've become dependant on MN for sane parenting advice. I really don't think I would have gotten through pregnancy or the last few weeks without it. Well I may have done but it would involved a lot more crying. Please don't enter me into the sweepstake just yet, I think I've inherited my Mums 'falling pregnant gene' and it would be tempting fate too much.

Me and DS went to our breastfeeding group this morning, well DS stayed asleep right until they were tidying up to go home and then woke up demanding food. Typical really isn't it.

Also have managed a spectacular bit of baby brain and managed to lock myself out of the house this morning, I had to go and get the spare key and explain to the letting agents why I was a bit of an idiot Xmas Confused.

nymphadora · 09/12/2010 16:09

Dd1 was Mary and fab dd3 sat through it. 1 cry at the first loud BOO and I fed for 5 mins then she sat & listened and admired the Xmas tree. Got mobbed at the end with teachers & girls wanting to coo!

Hermya we locked ourselves out last week & had to get my cousin to track down my Dad and bring him & sparre key as there are none nearby Blush

nymphadora · 09/12/2010 19:24

Having an awful job expressing. Can shift drops by hand but the pump is pulling nothing & I feel v full. Remember how much I hated pimps last time now

nymphadora · 09/12/2010 19:53

Finished . Got approximate 3 1/2 oz off feels similar to when she feeds. Those who use bottles how much is a normal feed? She is 9 weeks today.

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 09/12/2010 20:22

Nymph I'm not surprised you hated pumping if you used a pimp last time Xmas Grin. Ok silliness aside, on the side of the Apitmel carton it says 6oz, but that is based on five feeds a day. Here's a milk calculator for breastfed babies though that'll help.

tiredfeet · 09/12/2010 20:37

I managed to lock myself out of house and garden when six months pregnant - had to climb over six foot high fence to get in! Glad your letting agents could rescue you Hermya

Congratulations to your daughter nymph! Glad you could get out and watch it

I haven't braved expressing yet but am considering trying, mainly as ds is sleeping 6-7 hours straight at night now (nothing I did!) so by breasts are really full and its them waking me not ds! Am tempted to express some then so that dh can occassionally do a feed, but worried about whether it will impact on breastfeeding as we are only finally nailing it.

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 09/12/2010 20:47

Tired You could express a bit and then freeze the milk and use it later if you don't want to use it now.

nymphadora · 09/12/2010 21:12

Ta hermya says 3-5 on there so should be ok as a stop gap feed. Right still sore, feeling dopey uh-oh

AbFabT · 09/12/2010 21:32

Wasn't feeling at all judged, H.
LOL @ breast pimping!

Ah, nativities! I am looking forward to that phase! Glad you got to go see your Mary, nymph!

I'm expressing as much as possible and freezing it - mainly as a back up for if we do conceive early in case it impacts on my milk supply. DS has been feeding pretty much all night tonight, cute little monkey, he had both arms flung around my breast, was settled in comfortably for the night. He is two months today - wow has the time flown!

NoHunIntended · 09/12/2010 21:36

This is/was AbFab - I am considering a complete name change! Gonna give this a go for a while and see if I like it!

tiredfeet · 09/12/2010 23:05

Can we call you 'hun' for short? Grin

Freezing some sounds like a good plan thank you, at least then we'd have options.

floozietoozie · 10/12/2010 00:32

Tiredfeet I'd say the amount of weight ds has put on would suggest you've got bfing well and truly nailed!!!

Ds still has raging temp bless him. He's been so sweet today which is a departure from his usual ill behaviour. Hes just bnabit sick in my bed so thank goodness I put a towel underneath him. Have also taken his pj top off cos he's so hot so he's just in vest and nappy. Now worried he might get cold later as he's not one for staying under a duvet.

Do you find you have one breast which gives more milk than the other? My left is about twice as big as the right!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 10/12/2010 05:43

Hi. Am def out of the running for another baby. Doc tied my tubes during the c-section. But I am ancient and have hundreds of kids after all. Good luck hun.

Dd doing well. Over 8 lbs now. Breastfeeding and supplementing one bottle of formula a day. She's started smiling and cooing. Adorable.

Well, I have turned into a swivel eyed class a loon. Last night, from 11 pm there was a shocking racket from a party at the pool. Remember I'm in Bahrain so it's nice in the evenings still. Trying to get dd to settle, dh has a cold and I am terrified I won't get to sleep before she wakes up again around 3. Then the noise ramps up and they start singing at the tops of their voices. This is about 30 metres from my bedroom window. So at midnight I'd had enough, got my milk stained tshirt and trackie bottoms on and stomped out. It was a load of sixth formers celebrating the end of term and their school play, with the ipod dock cranked up to max and outside. I went mental I'm afraid. Thankfully, they were actually very nice kids and apologised immediately after being screeched at about newborn babies and sleep deprivation. In fact, I think they were traumatised and I ended up apologising to them Blush. Ah well.

Hope you all have nice days. No lunacy please.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 10/12/2010 05:45

Oh and tired, I would pump if I were you. It's yucky having the pain in the middle of the night and soaked bras and pyjamas.

nymphadora · 10/12/2010 07:28

hun Winkit's weird seeing anew name on the thread!

Nodding to the waking up soking, am v full again this am. Dd3 had a v good feed at 3:30 but only had a little now& gone back to sleep.
She is turning into a thumb sucker, she used to grab mine/dh finger to suck , now she sucks her own fist

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 10/12/2010 08:07

ILGH 8lbs, well done you!!

Nymph Are you still feeling a bit off colour or are you feeling ok?

Hun DS does that to me as well, it's as if he's marking his territory. DH asked me why he did it, my only explanation was that if you had a nice warm pillow that reeked of gin/beer/chocolate/insert appropriate substance and gave you ready access to said substance, wouldn't you hug it.

Floozie My right breast is my more milky breast. I don't know why it is though.

I was waking up soaking as DS has started to drop one of his night feeds, but when he does feed I make sure to get him on both boobs so that I'm not waking up covered in the stuff. So far it's working.

DS is currently lying on the floor telling the toy elephant of all his troubles. They must be many as he sounds quite mornful.

nymphadora · 10/12/2010 08:42

Feeling ok this am. We've all got colds though so bound to be bit rough. Dd3 seems to be dropping a night feed too i think that's why I'm inflating!
She loves to hug boobs too. Often asks for milk then sits loving it & licking Hmm and smiling at me
hermya we have an elephant, trunk is just right for sucking.

shieldbug · 10/12/2010 09:48

morning all Xmas Smile.
Harry is sleeping in my arms and all is well in bugland. Proud Mum moment of my own- he laughed for the first time last night Grin. At 6 weeks, that's not bad. We are going to venture into Belfast for the first time this morning, so hope getting on the train and everything goes well. Hope there's no more student protests- things got a bit nasty yesterday outside the city hall apparently. I'll probably call into uni as well and show ds off.

nymph well done to all of your dds. I always wanted to be Mary but was eternally an angel instead Xmas Sad!

tired I would express, it's amazing how your breasts can keep up! I'm going to express now for going into town in case I can't find anywhere nice to feed him and I'll still be able to give him his second morning feed no probs. Dunno where it all comes from!

ILGH had to laugh at the image of any angry boob-milk stained Mum ranting at a load of teenagers! Just right frankly.

floozie my right boob is miles bigger and cos it produces so much is known as superboob.
