Hi all. I do read just don't get a chance to post much.

Elsa I wish my dp was only 42...... Not too old at all. Sorry you still feel bad after labour - I can't remember now if you had cs or not although think not?

Those thinking of tiredness with two - what I have found is that although I am obviously tired, goes without saying, i'm used to that state and it's not the horrific shock it was with ds - plus the whole kid taking over your life etc is not a factor. I now accept not having any other life Grin. For those if you with fit and healthy dps that may not be so much of an issue anyway, as my circumstances are out of the ordinary.

Dd is 16 weeks old today. If I were to listen to that new weaning "suggestion" I'd have to start feeding her in just over a week. Don't think that's very likely and I'm not bfing exclusively anyway more's the pity.

On the phone so can't check back to remember other messages. Btw, the frequency of your bathing schedules shamed me into popping dd into ds's bath tonight (only two days after her last one!!!). Wish I hadn't as while I was drying her with ds still in the bath he said twice he needed the toilet. I whisked her into my bedroom but when I came back there were floaters in the water..... Bless him, that's only the third time that has ever happened and it was my fault for not acting fast enough.

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 09:46

Dh is 48. Doesn't seem to be an issue yet. His Dad was similar when he was born & he doesn't remember it being a problem

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 09:47

If we had been going for another he would have been 50 which would have felt worse

Elsa123 · 17/01/2011 10:02

[nosey emoticon] how old is your DP Floozie?

When I was a child I used to think my parents were dead old compared to my friends' parents and my dad was 34 and my mum 30 when they had me!! Times have changed a little and children born to older parents are more common. I'd never given DH's age a second thought tbh but he has and for him the cut off is if I'm not pregnant in the next 2 years then thats it. Not that long considering I don't want to be returning to work already pregnant again.

DD had her head at a funny angle so she was delivered by forceps in distress (but fortunately with a perfect apgar rating) but that was at the end of a second stage that lasted for 2.5 hours in total. A long time pushing followed by an instrumental delivery has left me with damage that I know cannot be solved by pelvic floor exercises alone. I've been referred (hoping to hear something soon) and I know many consultants don't like to carry out repairs until you've had all your children but I'd have to actually BD to have a child and thats not going to happen until I'm sorted so I was going to say to the consultant that thats it for children for me and DH and I had discussed CS if we had another child. Loads of DH's colleagues have been saying how one child was great but 2 threw everything out of whack and more then made no difference so thats put him off too. Also the danger that a second child could be a nightmare when DD is so great. Anyhoo, we'll see.

Gosh Floozie I can't believe your DD is 16 weeks already even though my DD will be 14 weeks on Thursday! I bought BLW on my kindle and I've decided thats what I'll do with DD. So hopefully she won't mind holding out until 6 months!

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 10:12

Dd3 is 15 weeks this week going v fast!

Elsa123 · 17/01/2011 10:51

Scary isn't it?! Just completed an online form for a nursery near where I could be working after maternity leave Sad. Its got excellent ofsted reviews though.

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 11:00

That must be hard not being sure where you'll be working. Did you say dh was army too?

Elsa123 · 17/01/2011 12:05

We're both RAF but different specialisations and neither are the exciting pointy end of the Service that most people think of! I've just written to the person who does our appointments with my preferences. Fortunately I'm at the stage in my career where I can discuss the options and not just go where I'm told. Apart from geographical negative preferences there are 2 specific places I don't want to work as the hours are bananas and it would not be fair on either party for me to work there. I'm trying to be flexible over the return to work window as it may be self limiting to state I'm returning no earlier than 10 Oct 2011, so I've said if the right job comes up earlier then I'd take it (It'd have to be perfect though Grin) and I have annual leave so could return to work later if required....[crosses fingers].

Right, thats all I'm going to do career wise today otherwise I won't stop thinking about it! DD was up earlier than normal this morning and I was therefore expecting her to wake earlier from her morning sleep but it seems she's sleeping to her normal time and I'm itching to wake her up for a cuddle and feed! I WILL resist and make something to eat...that way she's guaranteed to wake. Grin.

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 12:29

It does take over doesn't it!

HermyaLovesLysander · 17/01/2011 17:29

My friend and her one year old twins and four year old girl have been round today.

Inbetween telling the twins 'no thank you DS doesn't want a car on his head' and 'Ooooo look you have felt tips, how wonderful, can I have them.......thank you. Aren't you nice sharing the felt tips with me' in a high pitched nice Mummy voice, playing hairdressers with the four year old and attempting to shield DS from flying projectiles I am exhausted. It was so much fun though, the boys were like little tiny hurricanes.

I have such respect and awe for my friend.

It was funny when the twins got hold of DS's playgym, it went from stood up with all the toys attached to floored and dangly toys strewn across the room in less than a minute. Really you have to respect destructive powers like that, it's a skill really it is.

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 19:40

I can picture it so clearly! Toddlers are such a shock when you are not used to them. Even if you are just out of practice. It's not as bad when you have one as you get used to it gradually

Had my mole off today. Anaesthetic hurt more than the csection what's that about? I nearly jumped off the table!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 17/01/2011 20:23

Goodness, I remember my first toddler encounter - thought the parent had no control and felt shell shocked the whole morning Grin

How naive I was!!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 17/01/2011 20:26

Ow nymph! Did you have local anaesthetic?that really stings! Must be a relief to have it off now :)

nymphadora · 17/01/2011 20:37

Seashells that feeling returns when youngest is 6/7. I feel shell shocked now after an hour with toddlers!

They don't think the mole is bad but gave me the option of all or part & I figured all in one go was batter

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 17/01/2011 20:51

I saw that look on my friend's face today- her dc is under one and i think she thought it was crazy (Ds was being good was the irony lol but the park was full of similarly behaving toddlers so I was relieved even she was horrified!)

Elsa123 · 17/01/2011 21:49

I'm off to see a friend tomorrow night who has a toddler and 7 year old so I'll have my first toddler shock no doubt!

I've managed to hurt my hip flexor (sp?) which means I'm struggling to weightbear on my right leg and have just shuffled to the dishwasher. Its really painful! No idea how I've managed it.

HermyaLovesLysander · 17/01/2011 21:49

Seashells I worked in a nursery when I was at Uni, after ten hours surrounded by thirty toddlers any evil looks were beaten out of me by the projectile vehicles being thrown my way. Grin

I think any shock I had was more for the fact that you can have that much energy to be able to deal with someone who just wants -all- your attention for hours on end.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 18/01/2011 00:34

Yup, I don't have that energy though which is why Ds still sleeps for an hour a day nap wise despite early rising-I need an early afternoon slouch (so does LO) and it's the only way as he is 110% or asleep the whole time :)! He is hilarious and v cute though, if exhausting!

tiredfeet · 18/01/2011 17:31

Hello all, had a disastrous night ladt night. Ds wouldn't settle for long at allm just got one hour long stretch of sleep. His eczema has flared up on his face and I think he was just so sore. Couldn't get a dr appointment today, fingers crossed for tomorrow!

HermyaLovesLysander · 18/01/2011 18:28

Does anyone think this sleepsuit is girly?

nymphadora · 18/01/2011 18:39

Hermya- no.

Tired- is it bothering him ( keeping him up) ?

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 18/01/2011 19:28

Hermya My mum thinks its too girly, i bought a blue boys cardi for dd the other day so i cant really tell lol :)
I thinks its gorgeous though.

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 18/01/2011 19:37

Hermya-no it's lovely :) dd looks like a rainbow most days (I have a pathological fear of sugary sparkly pink!), other days she is in big brother's old snow suit and I get compliments on my handsome boy Grin

sam12 · 18/01/2011 20:52

Not at all hermya it's lovely. I'm the same with the sparkly and pink sea the only pink things dd has were gifts- apart from an expensive snuggly White pram suit which I managed to dye a sugary pink colour in the wash Angry
Hope you manage to get in to docs tomorrow tired- poor ds
My back seems to be easing up slightly today and I can move a bit more it's been a right pita

nymphadora · 18/01/2011 21:12

Dd3 has started eyeing up bright pink stuff. She tried to pinch her friends towel at baby massage & got v excited today sorting clothes. I didn't let the other two have much pink either Blush
