Happy birthday tyson Smile

Having a better day today, ds seems a bit happier and he has been better at going down for naps. His grobags arrived so fingers crossed it will help with nighttimes. Will sleep a bit easier hopefully now I'm not worrying whether he's pulled the blankets over his head!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 13/01/2011 20:36

Happy birthday Tyson!

nymphadora · 13/01/2011 21:08

Happy birthday Tyson :)

Elsa123 · 13/01/2011 21:52

Ooh happy birthday Tyson!

DD is currently upstairs whinging. She normally goes to bed at 2130 but tonight is fighting it. I'm leaving her to it for a while as I went to get her and she just lay there cooing at me. No food required!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 13/01/2011 23:20

What's your bedtime routine now if any? I'm wondering if I should be more structured with dd. We now go to bed about 9 after feeding frequently from about 6.30. She sleeps til about 2-2.30 and then til 4.30-5 if we're lucky. This is different from boys who would sleep from 8, have dreamfeed at 11 and feed at 3 then 6. That's my ideal but not suiting dd. Anyone else managed to transition to that?

Dd is 10 weeks. Where did that time go?

Elsa , aw to the roll.

Happy birthday Tyson

TimeForABrew · 14/01/2011 02:55

ilovegregory, since trying to get a routine going, I've been doing feed, wait/wind (DD tends to posset if winded), bath, jimjams, offer another feed, bed with a musical seahorse. Timing varies though, and missed the bath tonight, but she dropped off almost immediately (long may that continue).

Is anyone else thinking about returning to exercise, or exercising already? I walk but not as much as I should & I'm a bit wary of doing stomach crunch type things after a c section but maybe I'm just being a lazy wuss!

TimeForABrew · 14/01/2011 02:57

elsa that's so cute re the cooing!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 14/01/2011 03:00

Feeding time? me too.

I've started playing tennis and will be going back to gym. I'll take it easy cos of the c section but can't stand my lardy arse any more.

tiredfeet · 14/01/2011 06:40

[Shock] Shock Shock omg a grobag would have been cheap at 10x the price! Ds just slept for 6 hours straight! And that's despite the snotty cold he has acquired which has made him so bunged up!
Max he had done previously since we moved him to his big cot was an hour and a half, and often it was only an hour. Ebverytime when we when in he had kicked the blankets off. Can't believe it took me this long to get round to buying them

My exercise routine is ds! He's a heavy little porker now and likes to be carried a lot. I also try and go for a walk with him in the sling most days. I would like to get back to running though, just need to find a time that works.

Our bedtime routine is feed, play, bath, excema cream with lullabies playing, grobag Grin, bedtime story from daddy and then feed then bed. He does still cluster feed in the evening so until about midnight he feeds quite frequently still but then he is a very -greedy- big baby

nymphadora · 14/01/2011 07:48

Sleeping bags made a big difference here too

Bedtime routine.
Tea,
Play/bath feed pjs
Nap at 7 ish wake 8 ish
Feed
Bed 8:30-9

shieldbug · 14/01/2011 09:52

hello all! just had a mammoth catch-up read of the thread. so pleased to hear of the progress being made by everyone's dcs. wow elsa, a full roll! ds is trying to roll but can't manage it yet. he can do better press ups than his wimpy mammy though! like you tired ds is my exercise. he was 13lb on monday (10 weeks) 9proud mother emoticon) which means he is still tracking the 50 centile pretty much exactly.
ds had his first jabs on weds and just bawled in the afternoon and evening, which is so unlike him. it really tore me up although snuggles made it better for a while. thankfully he was recovered by the next day.
i can't remember who was asking about periods. i've felt as though i've had pmt on and off for the last couple of weeks and have also had spotting. it's reassuring to know i'm not the only one.
nymph hope you are feeling better today and dds cold finally clears up.
sorry for rubbish typing, but have sleeping ds on one arm.
still can't get over how amazing it is to have a baby after all these years (i'm 37 now). every day i fall in love with him a little more, especially when he smiles or tries to talk to me. we are so lucky, aren't we? (sorry if that's all a bit sloppy!)

Elsa123 · 14/01/2011 10:35

This is the right place to be sloppy shieldbug Smile. Our evening routine is:

1700 onwards:

Prat about and make as much fuss as possible if mummy makes any sign that she might like to make something to eat.

Mummy sits down feeling faint with hunger to feed DD.

Hopefully some time in the vibrating bouncy chair and being entertained by a dog allows mummy to eat.

Feed DD

2000 time out of harness- lots of leg kicking then bath. Cue even more leg kicking.

Massage, back into harness, cue shrieking and general annoyance at being back in harness.

Into bed clothes and grobag. Feed and bed at 2130 apart from last night where she wouldn't settle until 2330.

She then sleeps through, gets up for a feed between 0700 and 0900 then goes back to bed until lunchtime.

Well done with the grobag purchase tiredfeet Grin.

sam12 · 14/01/2011 13:19

shield you are right though- we are so lucky Smile
Dd is lots better now but I've somehow managed to do my back/ neck in so can hardly move-really struggling to express as I can't see my boobs- plus my periods have returned with a vengeance!!
I've been reading the threads on weaning after it's been in the news today and I don't know about you lot but I'm just getting more and more confused!

HermyaLovesLysander · 14/01/2011 13:49

Tyson I'm glad you're feeling better.

Shield Yeah we are so so lucky aren't we.

Sam I know what you mean, although one of the experts they had on BBC1 this morning was a bit of an idiot if you ask me.

ILGH Our routine is;

6.30 - 7pm ish: Bath time for the boy.

Baby massage plus general kick about.

Dressed in sleepsuit cue crying.

Lights go down in the living room. Cue more crying.

A bit of shushing.

The boy and Dad watch scrubs

DS decides he's had enough and cries.

Mummy decides she's had enough and puts the boy in the sleeping bag.

Feed time.

Boy either falls asleep on Mummy or gets passed to Daddy to have cuddles.

Basket time with dummy.

DS falls asleep after a bit of shushing andmummywonderingwhyshedidn'tbuywine and some singing.

Shhhhhhh the boy sleeps. Grin

nymphadora · 14/01/2011 14:50

Sam- re weaning when I did my other 2 it was 4 months & onto purees then chunkier stuff at 6. I've read a lot since then & totally get BLW. I'm planning to wait til 6m unless she shows extremely obvious signs before that. The guide seems to be loss of tongue thrust ( which would push the food out), sitting unaided and actually trying to get food.

sam12 · 14/01/2011 16:37

hermya I was watching itv and they did some of the report in front of a shelf full of cow and gate jars saying they should be given healthy foods such as these!!!
nymph my friend gave me a blw book and my plan was to do as you say. Are you not going to do the purées?
When dd was about 8 weeks my dad asked me if I'd let her have some chocolate buttons yet as she'd enjoy them. He looked at me like I was an ogre when I said no. Although it probably explains why I can't make it through the day without a chocolate fix

SamanthaB123 · 14/01/2011 17:08

Hello Grin

Not much of a routine here I'm afraid, it's all dd led! It tends to end up something like this:

7pm ish
bath
massage
pj's
coooing
being cute and wooing mummy and daddy
feed
fall asleep with mummy
sleep with mummy
muumy's arms start to feel like they might fall off
bed with mummy and daddy
feed
It is now about 9pm

At some point I might need to think about settling her in her crib rather than just cuddling me but I don't feel in any rush.

Elsa I'm very impressed with the rolling over. We can turn onto our side, but that's it. Our party trick is standing. We love standing. All we want to do is stand up in fact. She can stand holding onto the sofa or a chair or a low table and just loves it. We are always very near her with our hands ready if she falls but usually she just sits down when her legs are tired. Once she's up and standing, she looks around grinning from ear to ear and giggling!

Happy belated birthday Tyson!

We think that we might buy a high chair tomorrow so that dd can sit at the table with us when we eat. All of her own 'chairs' are at floor level and she gets bored which means we eat holding her so she can see what's going on. We are thinking about a bloom Fresco (see John Lewis website). Really expensive but looks like it will be fab and is suitable from newborn.

Sorry my posting is so sporadic, can't name check as have about a month to catch up on Blush

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 14/01/2011 17:34

Hello :)

Lovely having Sis to stay...though may have put put her off kids for a little longer Blush

Routine: all a bit approximate as like tonight she is feeding now rather than after 6...

Bath and into pjs with Ds 6ish
Into sleeping bag
Feed/bottle with dh
Watch in the night garden with Ds
Stories
Into cot (some nights with dummy) 7pm

Sometimes fusses, but tends to sleep until feed 12-2ish

She is shattered at the moment as she won't sleep for long during the day!

Ds did blw from 6mths and loved using his spoon- I did purees etctoo. We have allergies etc so I stuck to the guidelines

I think it's aitch that had a blw blog somewhere that was good.

nymphadora · 14/01/2011 18:27

Sam12- was planning on BLW & mushing if needed

SamB -dd3 loves standing too! We areplanning a trip to ikea next month for a high chair. Few other things we want from there & they have good sensory toys too.

tiredfeet · 14/01/2011 18:39

I was planning to wean from probably 5 months anyway. Just because I'm most comfortable sat on the fence Grin think we will do a mix of blw and purees. Am quite taken by the idea of blw and ds making a big mess, I think it sounds so much more fun [childish emoticon]

Think we will be going highchair shopping soon too, quite like the sound of the ikea one everyone on here raves about -partly because its so cheap there's more money left for the shoe fund- will maybe treat him to some more toys then too nymph.

Ds and I went to a music class today, it was great fun, they sing songs and dance about and shake rattles and stuff. Ds just sat there and grinned Grin. Was a bit of a nostalgia trip too, haven't heard wheels on the bus etc for a good twenty years!

SeaShellsDreamingOfSummer · 14/01/2011 20:14

I love the ikea antilop chair! It's been fab and only costs £15ish Inc table. It's survived one child and ready for second Grin

HermyaLovesLysander · 14/01/2011 20:51

Oh Happy Birthday Tyson

Tired I think I'll be doing that as well. I'm still not sure on what I'll do, I think I'll do a mixture of blw and purees. I can't wait to be honest. Grin

We nearly got a roll out of DS today, I say nearly because I could see he was about to do it and then DH came and ruinedit picked him up as he was 'fussing'. I must admit I did shout.

Also had a bit of an irrational moment today when I got a text from my friend asking how her man was. Nope sorry, DS is my baby not yours. I should know, I spent rather some time getting the little darling out of me. She makes me feel rather territorial over my own child and I don't know why. She is the only person who makes me feel like this. Anyone else, I give them the baby and am off like a shot to the nearest loo/kettle/hiding place.

Still sorting out work issues, it's all very much one person has to talk to this person etc etc etc and I have to wait for xyz to get back to me and so on and so fourth. It is all a bit stressful.

Anyway, rantiness over, cup of tea anyone?

sam12 · 14/01/2011 21:44

tired that sounds good- covers all bases!
hermya I can't wait either! Can I have wine instead? tis Friday after all Grin it's funny how just one person can make u feel like that, for me it's my mil. Think it because she just assumed that I will return to work full time and she will have dd all the time. For numerous reasons I'm not having that- im going to work three days and after much discussion dh and I agreed she can have her one day a week- we just need to tell her.
Hope that work get back to you soon it must be annoying just waiting

TimeForABrew · 15/01/2011 14:09

Hermya could I have a hot chocolate please? Just coz it tastes better cold than tea Grin I will bring the biscuits.

Elsa123 · 15/01/2011 14:46

Tea sounds great. We're off to Aldi soon as they have some remote controls that can do your lights and stuff and DH wants some....

DD's been getting red raw patches on the backs of her knees from where the hip harness puts her legs into the permanently bent position. I put sudocrem on them and it seemed to be getting better. DH went to wash her last night and caught the red patch and she cried for 20 mins straight, really upset. To put it into context she only cried for 30 secs when she had her jabs last week. I showed the physio and he said she could now wear tights underneath the harness which is great and is helping. She's currently wearing greeny brown tights with pink and orange spots on them with a matching pink brown and orange striped jumper dress with a polo neck on underneath (looks loads better than it sounds Grin). Before I put the dress on her, with the tights on she looked like some kind of exotic wriggly frog!

Its interesting reading about the weaning thing I agree with others on this thread and we'll see when DD is interested, sitting up properly and not pushing stuff out with her tongue. I'l ask the HV about it when she next comes over.
