Come on, get festive!

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 24/12/2010 13:28

hun we're off to our in laws. I can safely say that within the next four hours the festive mood will have well and truely hit. My mil seems to have gone a little hyper this year, she's been putting a countdown on Fb till when she'll be reunited with her brood.

nymph what did you do in the school?

Well we're travelling at the moment. Our car truely is a bit of a tardis, we've managed to fit all our stuff, ds's stuff, the quinny with carry cot and car seat with ds in it and the moses basket and all the pressies. Plus as I'm a bit mad, our real nappy stash has come with us.

Ds has his cute outfit on, was very amusing trying to stop him being sick all over it when we stopped. Poor thing was covered in muslins.

Anyway Merry Christmas eve, santas on his way! Xmas Grin

nymphadora · 24/12/2010 14:03

Don't you have a micra hermya? Xmas Grin
I used to be a TA but interpreted BSL for a deaf child.

Just been out with dd1 for dd3s last present. Posh balloon for her to watch! She was just getting interested in her birth one when it deflated so hopefully shell like it. We were gone max of 10 mins & she was fed & changed just before. Came back to dh changing her & her demanding a huge feed! Thinks she's making up for yesterday's poor feeds. Looking a lot brighter today but did give calpol earlier as she seemed to be in pain.

tiredfeet · 24/12/2010 15:27

Wow hernya well done on all the packing!

Nymph I am very impressed with all your night time activities, hope you manage some better nights sleep though.

We had a grim journey north, the roads were clear as we travelled in the evening, but ds wanted to feed almost hourly. Feel like I have fed him in every layby in england now! And nearly nearly walked into a service station with one breast hanging out! He really didn't seem to like being in the car at night at all, anyone had this problem and got any tips?

Happy christmas everyone, hope santa brings you all a good nights sleep and happy babies on christmas day Xmas Smile

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 24/12/2010 16:02

Happy Christmas everyone!!

Dd has just fed through Christmas dinner number one (the Scandinavian one) and seems to be lining up for a growth spurt over the next few days so no washing up chores for me!!

Enjoy that special first Xmas - unbeatable :) x

Hope you all have a merry Christmas. It feels so special with it being our Lo's first one

ILoveGregoryHouse · 25/12/2010 01:25

nymphadora · 25/12/2010 07:23

Merry Christmas everyone!

Just waiting for big dds to get up. Thought I heard I thumb before but no sign yet. Dd3 is on third outfit in an hour & I spent all night throwing up but we're ready to go now.

Omg at SAMs dh wallpapering Xmas wve!

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 25/12/2010 11:41

Nymph I hope you're feeling better!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope Santa was very good to you and yours. We've been given enough toys to last DS up until next Christmas, my MIL did go a bit mad but it's been lovely.

I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed, it's lovely being here but everyone is all over DS like white on rice. I guess I'm feeling a bit territorial and a bit out of our normal rhythm of things, is this normal or am I being a bit silly?

Those who are second time Mothers, if people pick DS up all the time and basically do the opposite of what I do (which is to leave him to play or stare at the wall unless he's crying (I talk to him, but do this whilst doing other things IYSWIM)), is this going to spoil him?

Sorry if this seems a bit precious, I just want to gauge if I am or not.

nymphadora · 25/12/2010 13:27

Hermya- territorial totally normal & a day or two of spoiling is ok. :) routines may change after being away/baby sat /visitors but as much as it's a pita it doesn't last forever. ( please remind me this next time I moan Wink)

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 25/12/2010 13:49

Totally normal Hermya - I snuck upstairs for a feed earlier just to get away from everyone and treated dd2 and I to a quiet cuddle before returning to" pass the baby parcel" downstairs!

Hope all is well with everyone :)

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 25/12/2010 18:21

Merry christmas everyone, hope all the babies and siblings got treated well by Santa Xmas Grin

Sophie got a beautiful locket as a keepsake off pil, and now has a fave toy tombliboo off her Nanny :)
Its been magical, knackering but magical.
Archie has really believed in santa this year and fell asleep at 5pm. Chilling now with alcohol and pringles :)

Have fun Ladies xx

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 25/12/2010 18:23

Lol at what i wrote, Im chilling with alcohol, not Archie Xmas Grin

nymphadora · 25/12/2010 19:25

Had a nice day considering we feel so rough. Dd3 had good am but cried through lunch until we calpolled her & she slept then sick as visitors arrived.

Fave things were the balloon & baby gym.She isn't bothering to reach for the toys though. Just shouts dd1 & she does it Grin everyone enjoyed presents not too much doubled up. Some v posh gorgeous clothes from the ILs going to have to look up where they were from

nymphadora · 26/12/2010 18:59

How's everyone doing? Been just dh dd3& I today, bog dds on Xmas#2 at their dads . Mainly chocolate DVDs & balloon action

NoHunIntended · 26/12/2010 19:46

We are good, just chilling, snuggling on the sofa, watching films, eating cake! :)

tiredfeet · 26/12/2010 23:37

All good here, did christmas day all over again with the inlaws today. Ds a bit unsettled due to all the travelling and fuss over him, and (childless) sil started telling us to use controlled crying which upset me, but dh gave her a telling off, and mil pointed out she had raised four children without resorting to it Smile so I felt supported, but it does piss me off that someone would judge my parenting based on ds on such a weird day (and he has a cold too), and despite the fact that for most of the day he was lovely and contented and cooing away on his playmat.
Eating lots of chocolate though so not all bad!
