Oh Nymph I still don't even have my Christmas tree up yet, my house looks really unfestive.

Mind you it's less time for me to be annoyed by even less space in my house.

Tysonandthehouseelves86 · 19/12/2010 23:58

I need to wrap prezzies, ds sleeps in our room and wakes up everytime i go bed. Feeling more festive as been to carol service tonight and it was nice. Dd was brilliant and ds was babysat, he is still abit poorly so stayed in the warm with his grandma. Very excited bout xmas !!!

NoHunIntended · 20/12/2010 09:46

Hermya, I've tried a few different nappies - have a few different Baby Beehinds - two were not nice, one is fine, get on well with the Itti Bitti D'Lish, MotherEase fine, Blueberry fine, though I accidentally got a velcro version as opposed to poppers, man do I despise velcro, never again!!! Haven't got the Cushie yet, I have heard mixed reviews. I like the one size fits all birth to potty style, as it would be great not to have to fork out again in a year or so, but may be a false economy if they don't fit so well, but generally, I am finding them fine.

Feelings wonderfully festive, tree has been up since the 1st, am watching loads of Christmas movies, and dressing DS in cute little Christmas-related babygros etc.

nymphadora · 20/12/2010 10:41

I prefer Velcro nappies. Can't do poppers when I'm tired Blush

nymphadora · 20/12/2010 12:33

I'm missing Xmas party at baby massage today. Had text from Friend saying roads v dodgy there. :( haven't seen her for weeks & was looking forward to people other than dh!

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 20/12/2010 16:17

Nymph I've got a mixture of poppers and velcro, I do prefer velcro as I feel I can get a better fit, plus DH can cope with them.

What do you use at night?

nymphadora · 20/12/2010 16:39

On Eco disposables at night & random selection during the day. Going to get out my kushies as she may fit them now but not sure how good they are after 10 years!

SilverSky · 20/12/2010 19:11

When did you ladies stop using water and cotton wool to clean butts?

I've been covered in poo and pee today!

nymphadora · 20/12/2010 20:28

I still use cotton wool unless I'm out & there is no running water. I use the little pads.

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 20/12/2010 20:37

I still use the pads as well unless we're out and I use a few wipes.

I'm looking at getting some reusable wipes though.

NoHunIntended · 20/12/2010 20:43

I use reusable wipes - they are brilliant, I've never used disposables - wouldn't use them on MY private parts, so not putting them on DS's bits! I use Cheeky Wipes, though really all you need are some small flannels, or cut up towel. With CWs, you get two bags for out and about, one for clean wet wipes, and one to put the dirty ones in for returning home.

Velcro doesn't seem to have the longevity of poppers - I find it harder to pull apart, and it's occasionally come apart in the wash and nicked a few other items.

nymphadora · 20/12/2010 20:56

I know I moan a lot on here so just skip of you want!
Has blood took Friday & a plaster on for 10 mins tops. Now my arm has swollen [grr] dh got me an antihistamines now I'm worried I didn't check it was right one.

floozietoozie · 21/12/2010 15:06

Just had dds second lit of jabs. Oh bless her. But the good news is she's gained another pound in two weeks and is now 8lb 11oz. Hurrah!

Finally was able yo start christmas shopping this am. Raced around tge toyshop and bought everything for ds, dd and four nieces/ nephew. Thank god. Now o can relax a but although still have to getfor dp and two dsiss. But not so bad now. They are adults so will understand if I can't do it in tine although I'm pretty sure I will now.

Silver I use cotton pads but if dd has done poonami which she usually does every two or three days then I use a wipe to mop up the worst abd then pads to fine clean. I use wipes the few times Ive changed her when we've been out.

nymphadora · 21/12/2010 15:22

Second jabs already! Time flies Grin still waiting on dd3s first lot that were cancelled cos of snow. They only do Tuesday mornings so not going to be next week & unlikely to be week after so she will be nearly 14 weeks for the first ones Shock

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 21/12/2010 16:21

Floozie Yay!!

Nymph Gosh!! Thats ages away.

We've had our first lot today, I felt horrid taking my poor DS in to be stabbed with a needle.

Typically he was alright and I was in bits, I had to take a friend with me to help me through it all.

Sarahlou8 · 21/12/2010 17:26

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread, my baby girl was born on the 21st October.

I have a question that I can't seem to find an appropriate place to post, bit embarrassing really Blush but for any of you breastfeeding, if you're baby's nappy leaks, how how how do you get rid of the stain on their clothes!!
We are having an "explosion" at least once a day and if I'm not completely on the ball, that's it - another vest/top/pair of tights that just won't come clean!

I'm using Pampers newborn and vary between size 2 and 3. Size 2 leak up the back, size 3 leak round the legs! AAAaaaaaaaagggghhhhh

I'm really sorry to gatecrash your thread and I'll understand if you don't reply but can anybody help?

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 21/12/2010 17:36

Hello Sarah I had that problem with pampers, we're now in reusables and so far had no issues with leaks. Have you tried a different nappy at all? I've used huggies and nature baby and never had an issue with leaks. As to stains, I've found that they tend to go after a couple of washes. Otherwise the only advice I can give you is how I deal with them in my nappies which is to sun them out by either popping them out on the line or leaving them on a sunny window. I was a bit dubious, but it does work. Can I ask what you've tried so far?

nymphadora · 21/12/2010 18:03

Hi SarahLou re nappy explosion I soak in nappysan then put nappy San in the wash.Sun is supposed to be good but not much around!

hermya floozie I was prompted by this thread to phone to find out if they've rebooked jabs but can only find one person answering phones at hospital where they organise it. He was v helpful butno idea where to looks he usually does elderly Grin finally tracked down who to speak to but their phone just rings Hmm this was thesecond problem with jabs so not got much faith in them and when you add them to post offic I'm never going to hear am I !

ILoveGregoryHouse · 21/12/2010 19:21

Hi sarahlou, welcome to the thread. What's your dd's name? My dd is still in size 1 and huggies are much better than pampers although we'll be going to reusables now she's over 9 lbs. Not really had any leaks yet so can't advise on stain removal other than i'd do a napisan soak.

SamanthaB123 · 21/12/2010 20:14

Hi Sarah, how are you getting on? We use Pampers too and also get the leaks up the back. I soak in very hot water with vanish and washing powder, and then put in the machine. The poo seems to go but it's a real pain. It has also helped if I have caught it early and got them straight into water.

Nymph Your first set of injections have taken ages! Does that put back the whole schedule?

Silver Thanks for the info regarding thrush treatment. My doctor won't prescribe daktarin for Ruby only for my nipples. She has nystatin which she is so used to she just swallows. I find it tricky to get it to swill around the inside of her mouth.

Hope everyone else is well and warm tonight!

nymphadora · 21/12/2010 21:00

SamB I assume so.should have been called for second jabs by now

Hospital tomorrow. V anxious.

nymphadora · 22/12/2010 03:16

Hermya-did you feel the quake?was just going to sleep when it happened & just found out what it was

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 22/12/2010 07:06

Nymph Yeah I did, I thought a truck had crashed outside. I got up and looked but nothing. DS and DH slept through the entire thing.

HermyaTheRedNosedReindeer · 22/12/2010 07:56

A bit of a tax credits question, it's based on my income for last year, do I just SMP out of the figures for last year or will SMP only be applicable when I renew in April?

Also what about student loan and work pension payments, do they get left in the total or am I supposed to take them off?

I'm very confussed.

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 22/12/2010 08:10

Hermya- call them, they talk you through it but I still got very confused! You need estimates of wages, any other money income and and childcare costs. They didn't take my MA £ into consideration. It took about 30mins (and alot of confusion on my part!)

Popped on to see if you two experienced the earthquake! How bizarre Grin

We are good, hoping to still be able to get to my mum's for a big family Christmas. Shattered with another poor night's sleep thanks to both dc, but looking forward to sneaking a couple of afternoon naps with mum around!!

Welcome sarah :) I've never solved the poonami nappy issue! Too small or too large!
