We came, we saw, we frolicked. Grin

Now our PFB has arrived and we can begin the stressful befuddled guiltridden exhausting wonderful journey of parenthood!

(Or at the very least we can stop bothering the antenatal bunch until they join us!)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bunnygirl80 · 19/11/2011 23:47

It is like a ghost town round here at the moment pixie

I steer well clear of any vaccine related threads on here after I read a couple and there were clearly a few posters who just like to post scare stories. I'm sure T will be absolutely fine if she has the MMR, as the risks of problems are tiny. BUT if you're unsure, then there's no reason why you can't delay a bit longer until you've come to a clear decision one way or the other Smile

I'm a bit worried about William at the moment. He's been really unsettled for the last 3 days, and completely off his food as well. He's hardly eaten anything and is drinking less than half of his morning and evening bottles and refusing his midday one completely Sad He had a temp of 38.5 yesterday, but there's no obvious reason as to why. He's teething and has a bit of a snotty nose, but he's not normally this miserable when he has a minor cold.

I'm starting to worry that there's an infection brewing with his grommets. He's eating again today, but still incredibly miserable. If he's no better tomorrow I think I'll have to take him to the doctors and see what they think.....probably that there's nothing wrong and I'm totally PFB!

pixiestix · 20/11/2011 08:37

Poor little mite Sad As if having an operation wasn't enough to go through. I would take him to the doctors to to make sure. When T had a weird week of misery and fevers I took her twice! They still didn't find anything but it made me feel better to have her checked over.

If T is well on Tuesday then I think we'll be getting the jab - despite my worrying about it I worry more about her getting measles from some random person in the street or at nursery. Now we are back in London it seems much more of a risk than when we were in the middle of nowhere in a little village of 500 people. So many people breathing on her in any one day! Grin Ugh, being a parent is stressful.

She is cute as a button at the minute though. Still not walking! But she can do two or three steps at a time when focussed on something else. Its only when she concentrates on walking that she is completely incapable of it! Grin

MrsWajs · 20/11/2011 09:51

Morning :)

I've been terrible at keeping up recently, mainly as I just lurk on FB!

Poor Will bunny hope he doesnt have an infection in his grommets :(

Pixie The whole MMR thing is a thought isn't it, luckily not one that I have to consider for a wee while yet. I was bad enough deciding whether or not to have the flu jab when I was pregnant, can't imagine how I'm going to feel about a jab that goes directly into R!!

Not much new here other than teething hell!! And still no teeth to show for it just lots of lumpy gums, hope she might just wake up one day with a gob full of teeth and that'll be the end of it! I can wish....

bunnygirl80 · 20/11/2011 22:47

pixie London is pretty full of disease ridden people Grin

Will took 2 months to go from taking a couple of steps to actually wanting to try and walk anywhere, so T might just be taking her time over it too Smile

Will seems better today so I've sent him in to daycare. He ate hardly anything at mealtimes yesterday, but did spend most of the day grazing on snacks. And he demanded milk at about 11pm, so I think whatever it was he's feeling better. He's not pulling his ears and tossing his had anymore, which he did all the time before he had the grommets in, so I doubt there's a problem with them. We're going to the doctors for his MMR on Fri, so I might get her to take a peek in his ears while we're there.

He's now discovered that he can put things into cupboards and drawers as well as taking them out. I think this marks the slippery slope towards never being able to find anything......yesterday he spent a lot of time gathering various remote controls and putting them into the drawers in our bedroom Grin.

WorrisomeHeart · 21/11/2011 21:22

bunny clever Will! Lochie is the same - to the extent that out bottom two drawers in the bathroom are filled with a miscellany of blocks, duplo figures and mobile phones... Glad he's feeling better, hope it continues!!

pixie I felt completely the same before Lochie had his - even when I rationally thought about it and reminded myself that the autism study was discredited etc. When we were in for his jabs I was talking to the nurse about it and she was saying how damaging all that furore was and how they're now having to deal with measles outbreaks which are terrible. I'm not downplaying what some families have been through, and in the end you have to make the decision that is right go you guys.

mrsW poor Robyn! (and you!). Teething sucks bigtime, I can't wait until it's over - 9 down, 11 to go!

pixiestix · 22/11/2011 11:25

I know Worri - you just can't tell what is the right thing to do, what are the true stories etc. In a way the autism fears are only a tiny part of it - I've read on here of babies getting awful auto-immune rconditions as a reaction to it, of having seizures and ending up with conditions akin to cerebal palsy. Sad Bunny is totally right though - somethings you just need to give threads like that a wide berth for your own sanity. T has nine teeth as well now - though only 3 are on the bottom. Nearly half way there!

Glad Will is feeling better Bunny. Shame he has to have his jabs so hot on the heels of the op. Him and T can go through their MMR misery together! What are the measles rates like over in Oz?
T is still at the stage of emptying everything out of drawers and shelves - we have four big bookcases in our living room and at least half an hour at the end of every day is spent clearing up the total carnage she has made. I wonder how long this phase lasts? Grin

Poor Robyn MrsW Sad You might be right though - she might just start sprouting teeth like mad. T seems to get hers in flourishes rather than one at a time. She has had three in the last week having not had any since the end of August. Fingers crossed R's teeth make an appearance soon and stop tormenting her.

Walking continues this morning - wobbly but determined! She looks like she is holding an invisible zimmer frame rather than Will's zombie walk! Grin Its unbearably sweet Smile MMR this afternoon and hopefully a bloody great needle in her leg won't put her off walking forever!

bunnygirl80 · 23/11/2011 09:00

Yay for walking pixie Will's ditched the zombie walk for what I can only describe as mincing - he holds his hands up by his face and flops them around all limp wristed Grin He likes to complete the look by carrying around a big shopping bag (don't worry it's paper not plastic) that he fills with stuff he finds around the house GrinGrin

Am very Envy of 9 toothed babies! Will still only has 2, but numbers 3 and 4 are breaking the surface, so I think he'll have 4 teeth by the end of the week. He's definitely got the dentist genes-he brushed my teeth for me with his toothbrush after his bath tonight Smile

Will has got a stay of execution on his MMR for another week. Was called to come and collect him from daycare yesterday because he's covered in a rash from head to toe. The GP reckons it's just a post-viral rash, but they suggested delaying his jabs by a week. Luckily he's not contagious, and doesn't seem remotely ill, so daycare took him back today.

I think measles rates are pretty low here. Uptake of the MMR is over 95%-not sure if it's because the scaremongering over it never reached here, or if it's related to us getting $300 if our baby has had all their immunisations- so that's enough for herd immunity to be effective.

pixiestix · 28/11/2011 12:48

PMSL at "mincing" - I bet your DH is not impressed! Grin Hows Will feeling this week? We have both got another cold Angry Bloody London and its bloody germs!

Was just thinking, Mumnerves hasn't been on for ages and isn't part of our FB group. Where are you, lovely lady? We need to see cute pics of Sean!

Drama of the week in the Pixie household was a minor pregnancy scare! Shock But after much worrying and stress I took a test - BFN, phew!!! - and then started my period about an hour later (typical). Thank you Jesus, Buddha and the lion from Narnia!! Do not think I could have coped with that at this point in my life. I was oddly surprised that I didn't feel sad about it, but I definitely, definitely didn't!! Grin

pixiestix · 28/11/2011 12:52

Oh and $300 for getting your DC immunised? Jealous! Envy Glad that you are pretty safe in Oz though. The rates of different countries affected are mad. The nurse doing T's injection warned us she would need her booster early if we visited anywhere where measles was endemic. I was nodding thinking well, we probably shan't be going to West Africa or anywhere like that when she said "So if you are going to France next year come in and get her booster". France??? Just shows how easily it could spread in the UK Confused

bunnygirl80 · 29/11/2011 09:37

pixie I almost got as far as taking a pg test when it took over 2mths to get a period after I stopped bfing.....the sense of relief when my period arrived was immense. It's hard to believe it's not that long since we were desperate to get a bfp Grin

It'll have cost us over $300 in doctor's bills by the time Will's had all his jabs so it's really not that great a deal. Could take him to a GP that doesn't charge out of pocket expenses, but the state of the average patient that goes to those clinics makes me worry what he'd catch while we were there (yes I am a total snob about these things Blush)

I wonder where mumnerves is? I know she didn't join us on fb because she doesn't have an account. Where's oneof8 too? Perhaps they're actually interacting with their children rather than just tossing them a biscuit occasionally while MNing Grin

We're definitely reaping the benefits of getting Will's grommets done - his speech has come on in leaps and bounds in the 2 weeks since the surgery. The only problem is I have no idea what he's trying to tell me, although he says particular "words" and then gives me a meaningful look, so he's definitely trying to tell me something.

He's also perfected his Oliver Twist impression - last night he finished his first bowl full of dinner, held the empty bowl out to me, and said meh meh (which I'm assuming to be more) and was only satisfied when I'd filled it right up again Grin

mumnerves · 04/12/2011 10:54

Hello lovely frolickers!! Thanks so much pixie and bunny for thinking of me! Thanks Am really touched by it.

We are doing well, going back to work this week so been enjoying my last few months of ML Xmas Grin I have just stopped coming on MN as am starting to read so much that I just don't agree with and which winds me up about various issues that I thought I'd just do as I see fit and keep away. Then today I thought about how long I'd kept away, felt a bit sad I hadn't kept in touch and was just wondering how you lovely ladies were doing and pop-ed in Xmas Blush

S is 1 a week on Friday Xmas Shock NOt sure where that week went. Time seemed to go so slow when we were TTC and if I remember right the 2ww was just the longest time! We're taking him to a mini zoo place which has a soft play area as he's already standing and is a VERY fast crawler. Am going to make him a fish birthday cake Xmas Grin and my cousin and his family are coming along. Got him lots of noisy toys and some 'that's not my' books which he loves.

Congrats Toria It doesn't seem that long since you got your BFP!! Hope you manage to get some rest and big hugs on the difficult start , It all really does get easier! x

Halo boo at arrival of AF! I feel it's making a show anyday soon and feeding has been painful on occasion since I ovulated! Don't worry about going back to work till closer to the time. S just eats more around the childminder and tops up when he sees me. He wouldn't drink any expressed milk at first but after a while I think he caught on that I wasn't going to show up for a while and the last time he actually drank about 60 mls from a cup. Enjoy the rest of your ML x

Bunny So glad to hear that the grommets have helped Will. What a time you must have had with him. Hope he's feeling better now and it's just a cold x

pixie I think it's a case of informed choice isn't it? If we didn't get our LOs immunised and they caught something we'd never forget ourselves either. It's like you said, russian roulette. S will be going out of the country travelling with us regularly so for us it's not a choice not to immunise as it would be more likely that he did catch the diseases than have any problems. Such a tough decision. It's so much harder when we have to decide for our LOs than for ourselves. hugsx

Sorry if I've left anyone else out. I'll try to keep in touch more. Will have to just come in here and ignore the rest of MN (not easy!) Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and making lovely plans for Christmas holidays xx

bunnygirl80 · 05/12/2011 10:17

Welcome back mumnerves Glad to hear S is doing so well Xmas Grin We've all come such a long way from our ttc days to having babies turning 1!

William is becoming a real drama queen. Yesterday I took his yoghurt off him because he was about to tip it upside down over his head and he immediately went the most impressive shade of purple. Then he screwed up his whole face and you could just see the effort he was using to squeeze out a couple of tears. Then he opened one eye to check I was still looking, made a few little crying noises, at which point I burst out laughing. Once he realised he was getting nowhere he just went back to smiling and eating Xmas Grin

He's also learnt to say bye bye when he's waving - it's very very cute Xmas Smile

MrsWajs · 06/12/2011 09:03

2 weeks since my last post and STILL no teeth :( Think Robyn might be following in Wills footsteps after all Bunny!! She's been teething again the last few days and it's making her a bit poorly, snotty nose, poor appetite, very lumpy gums and just generally mardy! Poor bab.

How are everyones christmas plans coming along? I'm almost finished all my shopping, just got a few bits to get and cards to write out etc. Tree is being bought next week, DP has decided to decorate and have the carpets cleaned first so can't get it til that's done. Despite all this I'm just not feeling very in the mood this year! Not sure why, I normally love christmas, maybe dreading the return to work in January!? Robyn has 2 days at nursery next week to see how she'll get on! Eeeek!!! I'm sure she'll be fine though.

bunnygirl80 · 11/12/2011 09:29

mrsw perhaps Robyn will steal Will's crown as the world's slowest teether Xmas Grin He's finally managed to sprout teeth #3 and 4. He's still very drooly though, and I can see two more lurking but I'm not holding my breath for their appearance any time soon. Hope Robyn's feeling better soon

Good luck with settling her in a nursery Xmas Smile

Will had his post-op review for his grommets this week. He passed his hearing test with flying colours and his ears look normal again Xmas Grin He's learnt 3 new words in the 3 weeks since he had them done - he now says Ta, Bye Bye and Boo! He hasn't quite got the idea that it's the person that's doing the hiding that gets to shout Boo! when they jump out - if I hide from him he shouts boo when he wants me to pop up Xmas Grin

fudgecat · 24/12/2011 20:46

Just visiting to wish you all a merry christmas x

bunnygirl80 · 24/12/2011 22:57

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

Lovely of you to think of us fudge Hope that you and DP are well xx

WorrisomeHeart · 25/12/2011 21:13

fudge lovely to see you, how are you?

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful day.

mumnerves · 26/12/2011 11:07

Hope everyone had a good Christmas!
bunny how lovely that Will is starting to talk already! We've only got Pa, Ma, dog here for now although dog includes any animal with 4 legs!
:o
fudge nice of you to pop in x

Santa brought S a whole percussion set with drums....think I'm setting myself up for a headache lol! Guess I'd just better drink more mulled wine and port to keep it off then ;)

Happy new year, if I don't pop in before then, hope you're all enjoying the holiday season ss

highheelsandequations · 26/12/2011 20:41

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and have recovered from the chaos!

Rose has had her first taste of 'real' food, and today she sat by herself for a good 10 mins or so, she's growing up so quickly!!

bunnygirl80 · 27/12/2011 23:04

mumnerves you're brave with a drumkit for S. I drew the line at maracas for Will Grin

hh Rose sounds like she's growing up fast. Not long now and she'll be crawling. Try and enjoy it though, I find now that I can't even remember some of the stages we've been through. Will's only been walking for a couple of months, but I already find it hard to remember what he was like when he was only crawling Sad

We had a fab Christmas. Santa was very generous to Will, although he's more interested in the cheap water pistols DH and BIL got in their stockings than in the hundreds of dollars worth of toys we got him Grin And the water pistols were also the reason why Christmas dinner ended up in a water fight before we'd even got as far as dessert!

We went to the zoo yesterday, and Will had a fab time toddling round the kids bit looking at the bunnies and guinea pigs. He also enjoyed the nocturnal section where it was all in the dark, although I'm not sure the animals liked him.....whenever he spotted something he started bashing the glass on their cages with excitement Grin

pixiestix · 31/12/2011 14:02

Fudge its so good to hear from you. At the risk of speaking completely out of turn, I've just seen a thread that looked to have been started by you recently and I really hope it was and that things are going well for you Xmas Smile We would all love to hear how you are, although it must be so hard for you to come on to this thread.

I hope everybody had a Merry Christmas.

pixiestix · 01/01/2012 09:09

Happy New Year everybody!!

Worst new years eve on record. T is still totally out of sync from her Christmas holiday being spoilt by Granny and screamed from half seven til half nine (when we finally gave up trying to get her to sleep and let her into the living room to play with her toys) Confused By that time (D)H had a face like this Angry and had stormed off after shouting at me for a while. He came back after half an hour to shout some more. I got T to bed at half ten and then went to sleep myself!! Now at work for the day - so, wow. What a rock and roll NYE! Hope yours were all much better!

bunnygirl80 · 01/01/2012 20:01

pixie that sounds awful. Hope 2012 starts to improve for you soon

William is completely out of sync due to excessive spoiling too. He hasnt slept past 5:30am since we finished work for Christmas. Today has been the worst and we've been up since 4:30 Shock Hes meant to be going to a birthday party later and he's now going to be overtired and tantrummy when we get there

haloflo · 05/01/2012 15:17

Hi all, thought I best check back in rather than spend all my internet time on fb!

pixie Hope T's sleep gets back on track soon. Hannah is still on late bedtimes still being at the in laws. Grandparents don't like our babies to sleep!

bunny Ouch, so far we have avoided early starts (IMO before 6), I hope Will starts sleeping to a more reasonable hour soon.

Hannah is doing well, turned 9 months at the end of December. Good fine motor skills, good sitting and finally weight baring (onto the sofa if I position her there, not pulling up) My current worry is she isn't babbling but there is nothing wrong with her ears and she can clap, wave and does a "wiggle" dance whilst sat down for my amusement sometimes. Maybe she will just be a late talker but clear with her signs?

We have 4 teeth, top two through on boxing day. Breastfeeding is still going well though, many of my friends have struggled once top teeth are through so fingers crossed for us. I can't imagine when i'll give up, probably when I want to TTC no 2 as after a false start my periods don't seem to have come back after all (half a days bleed when she was 7 mo?)

C'mon fess up - who else is desperate to start trying for number 2? I am but know I need to not be breastfeeding or pregnant for a while to let my body and mind recover.

She doesn't sleep through but you all knew that didn't you!

mrsw Are you back at work soon? kurly What about you? I start back Tuesday, 3 days a week and can't wait!

whiteroses Hope everything is going ok?

WorrisomeHeart · 05/01/2012 16:02

... After watching One Born Every Minute last night I am desperately broody! But we need to move house first so it wont be for another year... Sad
