here we are. How long will this thread last?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
essenceofSES · 09/01/2011 21:18

Belgina - Seems like you've had quite a rollercoaster weekend.
Really sorry to hear about your cousin. What a shock for your aunt to find her :(

On the other hand, congrats on your BFP Grin

Watching Dancing on Ice and then Wild at Heart here (Sky+ed them) and then off to bed! What an exciting life I lead!

llareggub · 09/01/2011 21:20

Goodness, I don't know where to start with this thread.

I have been thinking of and praying for those of you who have had bad news; Ses, Belgina and blotted (if you are reading this) I have been so sorry to hear of the things that have happened. I hope that your families are finding some peace.

Cupboard I hope you are keeping well. Thinking of you.

Congratulations to all those with new year BFPs! I am very pleased for you but most definitely not envious. I think.

Life has been bumbling along as usual here, chez llareggub. We are finally bug-free and I have just 3 weeks before I leave work for good. I can't wait to get started on the business.

No news really. DS2 seems to have turned a corner sleep-wise and we are having a much easier time of it. He is waking just once a night now and going back down with no fuss. Such a massive improvement from his 5,6,7 times a night! As a result he is waking up very early, around 5am, just like DS1 used to do. Still, it has got to be better than before!

flippineck · 09/01/2011 21:22

Belgina, I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin, that's so sad.

And also congratulations on the BFP too! Shall we go for the same birth date this time round too?!

Cupboarddoor · 09/01/2011 21:50

Belgina what a roller-coaster of a weekend. So sad to hear about your cousin, and how exciting about the BFP. Hope the house stuff runs smoothly.

Momi I was wondering about your DH and how he got on in the interviews. It's such a stressful time, really hoping it works out for you all.

Llare glad that the sleeping thing is getting better for you

belgina · 10/01/2011 16:44

Cupboard So sorry to hear about your current situation. It must be so difficult when you don't know what the future holds. I have no real useful advice, just a sympathetic "ear" that's ready to listen if you feel that you need to off load.

Thanks everyone for your messages re my cousin.

I hope every one is ok. Am on my phone and started this message ages ago and now can't remember what everyone said Blush

Glad you had a great time Dandy . Yes I'm at least a 3 hour flight from Auckland so a bit far for a visit!! Hope the jet lag isn't too nasty. We were under a fug for at least a week.

We are officially TTC now (ekkkk) I think we've missed the October bus as I'm a few days past ov so we just practise for the next few weeks Wink.

Reggiee · 11/01/2011 20:19

Hi all!

To the baby making bunch Flip and Belgina Who-hooooo!! Congrats! Grin

Ses so sorry to hear about all the tragedies your family has been through recently Sad. How is your dh?

Omnom another blue - fantastic! Hope you are feeling well and 'blooming'.

Spangle how is life with two? A nice easy labour too Smile

Febes good to hear from you. What's the weather like? I want to hear about a nice summer's day. Sounds like all is coming together for you in NZ.

Belgina Sorry to hear about your cousin, and your poor aunt Sad.

Yaaayy the house! How's your packing going - hope you're taking it nice and easy! Do you have a moving date?

Running how are things with you? Was back to work ok? I missed P&T, but hope your friend's trick was suitably impressive.

Cupboard how are you doing? Maybe the 4 weeks with your dh away will give you the space to think about what you want. It must be a very confusing time for you. Glad you have an escape through work, and we're always here too Smile. Hope the ABs for dd2 kick in quickly.

How's things in the Momi household? Fingers crossed for your dh. Is it nice having him around the house or does it add to the stress? Mmm..Martini..I haven't had one for ages and your mention of it makes me crave one.

Hi Llare. Very pleased to hear the lurgy has left you. We had a rotten run of ill-health from late October until Christmas. It was just so draining with either me or one of the kids being ill. Fingers crossed that's the bugs done for now.

Welcome home Dandy. Sounds like you had a great time - do tell more.

Hi Pula. Hope you all had a great Xmas.

Sorry to anyone I've missed. Can't remember any more and I can't blame pregnancy brain!

How are everyone's lo's? Ds is just sooo full of beans and we are very much in tantrum phase. He has excessive energy and actively seeks to do things he shouldn't Hmm. Just totally the opposite of dd so a real eye opener. Good job he is so gorgeous and lots of fun.

flippineck · 12/01/2011 19:53

cupboard, what a tough time for you. Hope you can find the space in this four weeks to work out what is best for you and your family, Your poor DD too, hope things get sorted for her soon.

dandy - sounds like you had a fab time, hope the refreshed feeling lasts. What's the latest with your BP? Hope all settled now.

reggiee - lovely to hear from you!

Hello everyone else - hope you're all ok too, mwah.

All fine here. A's sleeping is still incredibly up and down; don't know what I'm going to do about feeding her because my nipples feel incredibly sensitive atm and she's driving me mad at times. DH is off to the states again week after next, fortunately it's only a week.

Quick question: I've been getting a lot of lower backache this week, sort of feels a bit periodish. It's not constant but I keep noticing it. Now I now that aches and pains and twinges are all normal in PG, but shold I be worried? I'm not sure whether I'm fussing about nothing. Problem is if I went to the EPU it's possibly too early for a scan, which of course would then worry me more! Spoke to my new MW yesterday, she said probably nothing but call EPU if I'm worried....so now I'm dithering! When I had my first MC that started with crampiness too, but it was all sharp and obvious and kind of in the front rather than in my back - so that doesn't help me really!

belgina · 12/01/2011 22:32

flipping are you more than 6 weeks now? Epau can scan from 6 weeks. Niggly achiness is normal, but no less worrying. If it's any consolation I'm really achy at the moment too. I've also got this brownish discharge, especially when I've been very active (work), so I wanted to pop into our own epau, but it was so busy I didn't get a chance. So i'm now seeing the GP's so he can refer me. My misc started with a browny discharge, so I understand exactly where you're coming from. I had it with c too though. I'm also not suffering all that much with sickness and things, so that worries me a bit too. Lol, what kind of normal person would wish for sickness!

dandy glad you had a lovely time in NZ. A bit of relaxation is always nice. Have you got any morenews about your bp? Did you get that 24h bp monitoring?

reggie nice to see you :)

febes have fun TTC. You never know, it might go faster than expected. We're still in shock here!

C's been a nightmare with her sleeping. She's started to wake u more and more and more, culminating 2 nights ago when she woke every 1-2h or so, demanding to be bf every time. So last night I decided to go cold turkey with the night time bf and it went quite well. I'm hoping that I'll get her to sleep through soon. Next step will be to get her to spend all night in her own bed! She also went to big girl Jumping Beans today for the first time and loved it, but was exhausted. And lastly she learnt to walk backwards and is doing it at every opportunity. Very funny :o

omnomnomtom · 13/01/2011 10:05

febes good luck with ttc

flip If I was you I'd go to the EPAU for reassurance
belgina sorry to hear about your cousin. Also good luck with going to EPAU and I hope you get a decent nights sleep soon- you definitely need your rest when you are pg!

Reggie we have plenty of tantrums here too- J gets on all fours and lays his head on the ground and wails- he soon gives up if we ignore him though!
He is full of mischief- always climbing on things but is also very affectionate at the moment- he loves giving hugs and 'shares' his food with everyone including his soft toys! We were in a cafe the other day and he was offering bits of his toastie to the couple sat at the next table

Dandy glad you enjoyed your adventure- look forward to hearing more about it

Cupboard I hope things are clearer for you soon and you are able to come to a decision you feel comfortable with- and as Reggiee said we are here if you want to offload. Also, poor DD I hope her UTI clears up soon.

llaregub glad DS's sleep has improved- I don't envy your early starts though! Good luck with your new business venture

Well I have been signed off work for a few days due to ongoing nausea and vomiting and since then have felt a bit better! Am making the most of a few days rest though - still feeling sick and struggling to eat much but haven't actually been sick since Tuesday. GP reassured me a bit about things as I was starting to worry as I've only put on 4-5 lbs so far.
DPs parents visiting this weekend and am trying to think of an alternative to Sunday dinner that require less cooking in case I'm feeling ropey- D'ya think they'll be ok with beans on toast? Grin

flippineck · 13/01/2011 11:55

Thanks Belgina and Omnom, I've got an appointment at the EPU next Tuesday. Spoke to a lovely nurse over the phone who was very reassuring but obviously not really wanting me to up there anytime immediately!

Omnom, hope you continue to feel better. Why don't you suggest going out for lunch? Nopresure on anyone then! Hope the weekend isn't too bad.

llareggub · 14/01/2011 09:50

Om I second the going out for lunch approach. Far less stressful. However if it isn't an option, how about making a quiche and throwing some salad in a bowl with some jacket spuds? I often make quiche when people come over for lunch, and it looks like I've made far more effort than I actually have. And quiche is dead easy. However, my top tip is to get DH to cook.

I'm going to come back later for a proper catch-up (probably this evening) as I'm taking the boys for their swimming lessons in an hour. I had bit of a barney with our gym as they increased the cost of lessons by 50% so I've withdrawn them out of principle. However, their swim teacher told me that she teaches out of a house with a pool in the next village and it is much cheaper than what I was paying previously. SHe said it is much warmer there too, but DS cannot get his head around there being a pool in someone's house. Bless him!

Cupboarddoor · 14/01/2011 13:08

Hello all

Flip hope visit to EPU goes OK, thinking of you. You too Belgina

Om I third the going out for lunch. Or you could order pizza in if you can't be bothered to go out of the house. I often buy a couple of pizzas and a salad for lunch. Yum!

Llare Shock at the price increase, hope the new arrangement works out

Febes and Dandy great to hear from you

Things OK here. Well, not really, but you know. I am feeling so very lonely Sad and physically sick most of the time. Struggling to eat, but the good news I am losing weight so that's sort of nice. I'm just ploughing on with the norm, dealing with the kids and work and stuff and trying hard not to think about things too much. DH is out in the states but we are talking loads on the phone. More speaking and more honest than we have been for years. I have decided that I would actually like us to try and make a go of things, but he isn't quite there yet (he says he is frightened of hurting me more / being in the same place in a couple of years.) That could be bull crap or it could be depression talking, I just don't know. Because of the time difference, the mornings are very difficult because I feel more and more frightened, then speak to DH at 2ish (when he is waking up) and I feel more reassured. Really stupid. Anyway, sorry, I am blethering on again. I don't know whether I am being a doormat and should be walking away, but my heart is telling me I know I love him and he loves me, so we should at least give it a go before giving up on the relationship. Right, really will stop typing now!!!

pulapula · 14/01/2011 13:42

cupboarddoor - I really don't know what to say - it must be so hard knowing what is for the best, and difficult to end the relationship when you both love each other. I am worried about you not eating and being depressed - is anyone in RL aware of the situation?

flip - hope you are OK and that EPU will be fine next week.

belgina - not sure if i have said congrats or not, but well done you on getting a BFP so quickly and hope that your SPD doesn't get too bad this time [hopeful emoticon].

momino - would love to come to York - Fridays are best for me if that's any good? Not sure what days grumpy works but would be nice to see her too. Will be in touch via FB.

llare - I should probably look at your company FB page, but just wondering if your business does photo cards (thank you cards) in small batches (e.g. 30?) Just need to get some quick to say thanks for christmas and DDs birthday presents. Could you send me a FB message if you are able to help?.

pulapula · 14/01/2011 14:46

Also I meant to add that I did not feel any pangs of Envy with the BFP announcements and whilst DH won't book himself in for the snip as he thinks I might change my mind [scaredypants DH emoticon], I am quite certain that we won't be TTC again. I love my not so little family and i think that's it for me. So if anyone TTC could make use of some ovulation sticks (about 20?) and pregnancy tests (8?) (bought in bulk on ebay) I am happy to put them in the post to you as they will only get chucked otherwise! Just FB me with your address.

cupboard it's difficult to know what to do if your heart and your mind say different things. Nice to hear that the 2 of you are talking a lot about things though. Have you thought about relationship counselling? Maybe it would help to have an independent 3rd party to help you guys work out what's the best for your relationship. Like pula I'm also concerned about you not eating. Do see some one if you feel depression creeping up or getting worse.

omnom I fourth the going out for lunch. A nice Sunday pub lunch is always nice. And of course the DH option is there too. I hope your sickness gets better soon.

flip hope the talk with the epu nurse has reassured you a little. My gp booked me in for Monday. I'll feel so much better after a scan.

pula lol at you putting up your TTC equipment up for sale Grin

I'm now at my parents' for my cousin's funeral tomorrow. C's with me, but everyone else is at home. The crossing was a bit of a bumpy one. Thankfully my nausea is really mild this time, more like with ds (so I'm thinking boy :o) or it would have been a nightmare. I'm currently trying to avoid alcohol in a discrete fashion and trying to hide my fatigue and slightly bloated belly as I don't want my parents to know just yet.

Also a big wave to evryone I haven't ncd.

belgina · 14/01/2011 19:58

Oh, xpost dandy

pulapula · 14/01/2011 20:15

belgina- hope the funeral goes as well as these things can do.

I wondered if me offering my TTC "equipment" might seem a bit funny - I bought in when i was desperately broody a few months ago (I came off pill and stopped BF to get my periods back and am now regretting that). I tried a couple of OPK sticks and pregnancy tests when i was desperate, but didn't take long for the TTC urge to wear off Grin. And the sticks are FREE for anyone interested lol, all individually sealed etc.

Cupboarddoor · 14/01/2011 21:03

Hello everyone. Thank you for the hugs and thoughts. And sorry for being so low - I am like a flipping rollercoaster at the moment, one minute feeling like I don't want to go on and another enjoying the kids and looking fwd to the future. I just wanted to say this afternoon I ate some shepherds pie today with the kids (the Nanny made it, with loads of veg and stuff.) And I have chopped all of my hair off at the hairdresser. And had a frank discussion with DH. So feeling better. For now! Who knows about how I will feel tomorrow ConfusedSmile

Belgina thinking about you and the funeral. Hope it goes OK & you manage to keep your secret

Pula like you, I am happy with 3 !!!! Not much chance of any more really!!!!!!!

Dandy thanks for the tip about the other area. Will have a think about posting there.

Thanks again for all of your support. You are all stars. And I apologise for being all over the place, I am normally NOT like this, honest!!!!!

cupboard - absolutely what dandy said, you do not ever need to apologise, we're all here to support you if it helps. Please look after yourself.

belgina - hope everything goes ok with you.

Can I just say arrrghhhhh about my family? Am fed up of not being told the whole story about various people's health and only finding out by accident. Makes me cross and sad and like a child again in some ways.

Apart from that, we're all fine. Tired so off to bed now. Hope everyone ok.

essenceofSES · 15/01/2011 12:45

Hello! Just a quick one from me!

Cupboard - must be so up and down for you. I absolutely agree with the others that we are here to listen and support. No apologies needed!

Hope scans go well for Belgina , flip and any others All v exciting!

O and I are visiting friends in York at the moment and went to see Momino yesterday. She did us a lovely lunch (greedy O had 2 large portions!). It was great to catch up with her and see her DD2 and DD3 who were gorgeous and v well behaved. Her DD3 even managed a "bye bye Owen" when we left - so cute!
Thank you Momino :)
