cupboard - really sorry to read your news but as others have said, it does sound like you've come to the decision you believe to be right for your family long-term. I hope that the next few weeks and months are as straight forward as they can be.

Momino - thinking of you and hoping your DH gets progress on his job hunt soon.
As for me, festive season was a bit mixed. Lively Christmas Day at my parents' and then we flew to Ireland to see DH's family 26th to 30th. O had the best time with his cousins, it was so lovely to see.
Unfortunately one of DH's cousins was killed in a car crash on 27th though. All so tragic. He and his best friend were killed outright and a woman in one of the other cars was killed along with her unborn baby :(
It was on the front pages of national newspapers and headline news on the tv/radio. DH's 95yo granny was devastated which I found particularly heart-breaking.
Being Ireland, everything was organised quickly and the funeral was on the 30th which we attended before driving straight to the airport to come home.
To just add to the family's distress, another cousin has since committed suicide. It's thought the tragedy of the car crash together with another similar incident in 2001 where 4 members of the family were killed when their car collided with a milk tanker, was just too much for him. It really does seem like too much for one family to bear :(
DH has coped well but it's not easy.
As for us ttc, if just doesn't seem to be happening for us at the moment. All the events in Ireland though really put some perspective on this and my new year resolution is to take more time to appreciate what I do have :)
Apologies for mammoth post and hello to anyone I've not NCed
