Hello ladies,

cupboard- so sorry to hear your news. Sounds like you have done a lot of soul-searching and although things are really tough for you and the DCs, it sounds like you know it will be for the best in the long run. Be strong.

omnom- hope the scan went well and that baby was co-operative.

flip - ooh exciting - i think i know what you will say but will wait for you to spill Wink

pulapula · 06/01/2011 19:53

I knew it - x posts - congrats omnom - glad everything was fine and how exciting to have another little boy Smile.

runningmonkey · 06/01/2011 20:12

congrats spangle don't think I said it before did I? Loving the easy labour - please can I have one too?
I LOVE your choice of name btw. I hope you don't mind but its also on our list should this one be a surprise girl too! Although like omnom (yay by the way om :o) we have been told its likely a boy but given last time we're waiting for our late scan to be sure!

flip spill, spill, spill :o

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Am back to work this week and also looking after ill DH and A - manflu and conjunctivitis respectively which is fun Hmm. Am looking forward to 3pm tomorrow and the weekend.

By the way if anyone is not busy tomorrow night a friend of mine is doing a magic trick on the penn and teller show on ITV1 at 9pm. I've seen his trick before and it is a good one! Let me know what you think.

flippineck · 06/01/2011 21:38

essenceofSES · 06/01/2011 22:28

Need to do mammoth catch up but am on my phone so I'll try my best!!

cupboard - really sorry to read your news but as others have said, it does sound like you've come to the decision you believe to be right for your family long-term. I hope that the next few weeks and months are as straight forward as they can be.

flip - lovely news Grin Congrats!

Omnom - congrats on your scan and another little boy :)

Spangle - your FB photos are just gorgeous:)

Smokey - you never cease to amaze me! New Year entertaining :) Hope those gorgeous boys of yours are all doing well

Momino - thinking of you and hoping your DH gets progress on his job hunt soon.

As for me, festive season was a bit mixed. Lively Christmas Day at my parents' and then we flew to Ireland to see DH's family 26th to 30th. O had the best time with his cousins, it was so lovely to see.
Unfortunately one of DH's cousins was killed in a car crash on 27th though. All so tragic. He and his best friend were killed outright and a woman in one of the other cars was killed along with her unborn baby :(

It was on the front pages of national newspapers and headline news on the tv/radio. DH's 95yo granny was devastated which I found particularly heart-breaking.

Being Ireland, everything was organised quickly and the funeral was on the 30th which we attended before driving straight to the airport to come home.

To just add to the family's distress, another cousin has since committed suicide. It's thought the tragedy of the car crash together with another similar incident in 2001 where 4 members of the family were killed when their car collided with a milk tanker, was just too much for him. It really does seem like too much for one family to bear :(
DH has coped well but it's not easy.

As for us ttc, if just doesn't seem to be happening for us at the moment. All the events in Ireland though really put some perspective on this and my new year resolution is to take more time to appreciate what I do have :)

Apologies for mammoth post and hello to anyone I've not NCed

flippineck · 06/01/2011 22:45

ses, that's so sad, the poor family. Thinking of you all.

Thanks all. Only 6 weeks, but been dying to say something since I found out! Of course, I can't count my chickens yet, but keeping everything crossed.

Cupboarddoor · 06/01/2011 23:09

Oh Ses what terrible news about your family Sad

I came back on to say congrats to omnom (meant to say it in last post) boys are cool, especially wiggly ones

Sorry I'm all over the place. Bad day today Sad will be better tomorrow I hope

belgina · 07/01/2011 00:06

Hi everyone. I haven't been on here in aaaages and it looks like I've missed quite a bit, so here I go:

congratulations to Spangle Grin Well done for getting there in time!

Cupboard I hope you're OK. So sorry to hear your news. It must be difficult for you at the moment. Hopefully the good old work routine brings some normality.

omnom Yay, a boy! Boys are the best, really as a mum of 2 girls and 1 boy I mean that Wink

ses How sad for your family. Truly tragic. I hope your family will recover from such events soon.

Our own xmas and NY were nice. I worked xmas day and caught my 1st xmas baby, which actually arrived 2 mins after arriving (I was running down the corridor with this woman kneeling on a wheel chair telling her to just breathe, just breathe Grin) My parents were around here for xmas and then we celebrated NYE over there. NYE and actually the whole NY period is a big thing in Belgium with lots of family visits and meals. So much nicer than the UK where once you've had children nothing really happens. In fact it's more of a celebration than xmas, we even tend to exchange presents on New Years day rather than xmas (xmas usually a token little presen), so we sort of had 2 xmasses :o

Anyway. Off to bed now. My planned early night didn't happen thanks to the ap's seriously delayed flight Biscuit

febes · 07/01/2011 00:12

Hi!!! Remember me!!
All settled in NZ now and loving it. Just bought a car today and will start work in February so life is good.
Wow lots of news on the thread! Lets see if I can remember it all.
Flip Congrats to you- that was quick!!! Hope you aren't too pukey in the coming weeks.
Omnom and Running Lovely 2 new boys on their way. How exciting! Any name ideas yet??
Spangle Congrats on baby P. I also love the name.
Cupboard So sorry. Come on and wobble as much as you need.
Ses How tragic for the family Sad. Makes you want to live every moment to the full.
Belgian Have you completed yet?? Hope the house move goes smoothly.
Dandy, Saus, Knitting, Reggie, muddled, Momino and anyone else I've miss hi

belgina · 07/01/2011 09:34

OMG, so sorry flip I just skim read the thread and just completely missed your absolutely fantastic news. Congrats Grin

Hi febes Glad you're all settled in NZ now.

house The seller is being very pushy to the point of being truly agressive (her own sollicitor has even put the phone down on her because she was abusive!). We virtually managed to do it all in 3 weeks, except for a very last minute snag from her part, not ours just before xmas. Of course everything is shut over the holidays and only really opened again on wed or so. Late wed we learnt that that snag has been solved. However the woman is now threatening to pull out if we don't complete by today. We feel she's being very unreasonable, because we have done everything we can and have managed to virtually complete the whole thing in 3 weeks! So DH wanted to make her sweat a little and now I'm about to phone the solicitors and give them the go ahead, so we complete on the woman's dead line. The seller is also really odd, because in real life she's this sweet lovely lady and on the phone she's this agressive, bullying kind of person. Both the estate agent's and us have found this. People in the village think she's a hard business woman, but there's being business like and being agressive and that really isn't the same. Anyway. I'm going to pick up the phone now and soon those contracts will be changed. We could be moving in 2 weeks time

runningmonkey · 07/01/2011 18:21

ses what a tragedy for your family. My thoughts are with you x

cupboard hope you have had a better day today x

flip :o congratulations

Hiya febes glad you're settled and loving it.

belg hope the house went through ok today. What a piece of work that woman sounds - there's no need for that kind of behaviour is there.

Hello to everyone else. I have succumbed to the house of ill so am feeling a bit rubbish. On the bright side, it meant I had to postpone my flu jab until next week (since having A I appear to have become needle phobic!)

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

essenceofSES · 07/01/2011 21:03

Thank you all for your kind words about our recent tragedies. I'm thinking of arranging for a mass to be said for DH's cousins. I hope that will show DH's granny and aunt how much we're thinking of them.

Belgina - so glad the house is now going through but what a nightmare that woman sounds!

Febes - great to hear from you. Sounds like you've managed to get settled really quickly. Is your job a teaching one?

Cupboard - not suprised you're a bit all over the place. Hope you're having a better day today?

Hope everyone else has had a good day :)

momino · 08/01/2011 20:51

Ses, terrible news about the family. so sorry and hope everyone is ok.
cupboard, thinking of you, take good care and hang in there.
Febes, so good to hear from you. I'm glad things are going well for you in NZ. love your FB posts.
Flip, Grin, that's great news!
Belgina, very pleased about the house!
Omnom, congrats about the scan and the boy!Envy.
Running, I wish I'd read your post yesterday as I would have watched Penn and Teller... instead I skipped right over. boo.
Pula, Hi! when you coming up to York? Smile
Hi to everyone else. I'm bound to have missed someone, please don't take it personally!
All ok here. DH just networking, feeling insecure, etc. job interviews from Dec weren't successful but at least he made it to the final 2. i think that's a good thing and good practice for him.

sitting in front of the fire with a strong martini. dd1 had a day-long tantrum. anyone ever had a child who did this? i nearly took her to hospital, it was so distressing. she finally calmed down, i took her temp (nothing), made her breath yoga-style, warm milk. I'm hoping tomorrow is better for her, bless her.

Flip Congratulations! Fab news Grin

Belgina your NYE sounds lovely - and the house seller sounds a nightmare, moving house is so stressful but hopefully you'll be settled in your new pad soon

Ses my heart goes out to you and your family

Cupboard hope you have had a better day

Febes glad you are settled and loving your new life

Momino your martini sounds well-earned, it sounds like you handled the mega tantrum well. Hope your DH finds the perfect job soon

Watching the Derren Brown program- the man is a witch!

belgina · 09/01/2011 15:07

OMG I just had to come and tell you ladies as I've just found out and it's a bit of a shock: i've just had a BFP!!! Just before Xmas I had a short period, too heavy for me to think I was pg, but I never had my signs of ovulation this month, then yesterday I had a cheese and onion crisp and it tasted really horrible, just like when I was pg with c. Then this morning I woke feeling really tired, a bit nauseous and my high neck top made me feel a bit nauseous too, all just like what happens when I'm pg, so I thought I'd do a test, thinking I must be imagining all these symptoms. Anyway, it's a BFP so I must be 6 weeks and not the 2 weeks into my cycle as I thought Shock

omnomnomtom · 09/01/2011 16:11

Belgina Congratulations! What a shock for you- our pregnant ladies collective is growing rapidly!

runningmonkey · 09/01/2011 16:20

ooooooooh! how exciting belg what a nice birthday surprise :o

belgina · 09/01/2011 18:16

Just had a call from home with some sad news: my 27 yo cousin, who was severely mentally disabled died in her sleep this afternoon. My aunt found her, which must have been truly awful for her. Weirdly my cousin must have died around the time of my BFP...

momino · 09/01/2011 19:52

big congratulations to Belgina on the BFP!
at the same time, very sorry about your cousin, sad indeed. Hope you're ok. x
