tsc - i'll trump your awful toddler with my little angel - he's currently teething which means screaming at night until we let him sleep with us and then acting possessed all day. Yesterday morning he pushed me to my limit (e.g. tried to pull TV off surface by use of plug lead, nearly beheaded baby by use of long metal pole for opening attic). I texted DH and told him I'd like to walk out and leave them- that got him home pretty sharpish Grin

Seriously, I felt quite ashamed that I'd failed as a mother-of-two only 2 months in but I don't think I'd have got dressed and out of the house if he hadn't popped in for twenty mins to help. Of course DS then went and played with actual toys in his actual room the whole time DH was here.

Baby weight... Angry technically I fit in my old size 10 dresses and one pair of some of my size 12 jeans. I just look bloody awful in them.

I think a few cigarettes are ok, although weed is off the menu. Sigh.

Yeah, I used to live in Bath and loved the Lakeland shop. At the moment I've got a fetish for vintage pyrex.

Have you got another hobby or something on which you can spend the money which you would have spent on cigarettes? That's what I do sometimes if I really want to smoke: on packet of cigarettes = 1 sewing pattern, or one ball or yarn, 1 metre of fabric, 1 cake tin etc. It distracts you in the short term, although as a long term strategy kind of sucks unless you have a lot of storage space.

Mine look like Laurel and Hardy.

CakeandRoses · 22/09/2010 23:34

Mine ought to have a censor rating on them as they are enough to scare small children - which is a shame for the poor baby whose life depends on getting sustenance from them

CakeandRoses · 22/09/2010 23:37

Mind you, DS isn't scared, he thinks they're hilarious - keeps sidling over, pointing at them, saying "baby's muck [milk]" and then pisses himself laughing Hmm

Hi ladies!
It's been manic, hence no posts. Haven't caught up on yours yet, bu read the first page and had to comment already Grin
cakes I have a boy 2.5 and DD 8 weeks. Its suh a perfect age gap isn't it?
stac very jealous that you are doing Zumba. I really want to give it a go. Bought my new sports bra (enell - nursing moms really shouldn't wear anything less) and am already to go join a gym, as soon as I get five minutes...
Coats look gorgeous. I made the stupid error of buying one to small because it was cheap and I was losing weight rapidly in august, but now I'm static and still doesn't fit yet! Have work that gym membership well...
Part of the reason we've been so manic is I had an absolute panic about schooling. My sister just tried to register her 3.5yr old thinking she being super savvy and ahead of the game, only to find there are no spaces left in that year group in any school in her town. She can't afford private, so she is going to have to HE.
Got me thinking, so I started visiting local schools. Looks like I might be home educating too. Spent ages looking at curriculum etc over the last few weeks and now I'm pretty excited.
Elle has her shots this morning. I'm nervous because she just started sleeping through and now she's going to get all fussy on me again, isn't she? Sad

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/09/2010 08:33

Morning!

stac yeah Im really enjoying all the groups, just getting out the flat, in fact just knowing Im going to leave the flat at some point in the day really helps lol.

Ive got a woman from the surestart centre coming round at 10:30 to give me a special baby pack, and to talk to me about the centre and different groups, I just want the pack really.

Then Im going to a friends house with my sister who I havent seen in ages so that'll be good.

Whats everyone else upto?

Gracie123 · 23/09/2010 08:38

Wrt one boob being bigger than t'other: yes
Both my kids only seem to want to nurse on the left hand side unless cluster feeding.
Every time I try to feed Elle on the right side first Will starts shouting at me that she doesn't like that one and it doesn't make good milk (WTF?) There is NO way he remembers feeding from 2 years ago, and yet it is odd that both kids prefer the left... Starting to make me a little paranoid - and lopsided!!

Chulita · 23/09/2010 08:38

morning all!

why is that DD suddenly wakes up every night now that DH is away? I mean, she used to wake up maybe 3 times a week but every night? sodding molars is what it is but why?

needle sorry but I wouldn't take that from dh. If I've got food cooking and have made the effort for him he'd better fricking sit down and eat it or he doesn't get it. But then if he'd walked in, and walked straight back out again there'd have been hell to pay. We're both pretty hot on communicating with the other and I don't take lightly to being ignored! Mum says I'm demanding but then I reckon it's his privilege to be married to me [preens]

viksam · 23/09/2010 08:41

Morning ladies,
I hope u guys are having a better day so far today!
needle I have felt exactly the same about DH walking out or developing a serious drink habit (he had a vodka red bull at home on sunday at about 3.30!!)so ur not on ur own with those thoughts, i think they are a lot more resilient than they let on though.
Ur boobs sound lovely, im jelouse of u who are still BF wish i'd have carried on.
Having rancid carpet up and lovely vinyl, like pebbles, fitted in the bathroom today so gota be home for 2pm. Otherwise having a much needed visit to a friends this morning, havent done much this week and need to excersize my mind, i know this because i got excited telling my husband that tommee tippee bibs are cheap in tescos.........sad sad sad!! whats also sad is that i have paid for the bathroom floor myself because i hate the carpet so much, wanted to do a photography evening class too and have now spent the money on flooring.....whats wrong with me!!??
stac the weather is shocking here today, thats my fault for bragging yesterday!

I had the lunchtime buffet yesterday at Pizza Hut. I haven't had it for years! :)

I'm still not sure whether the staff at Pizza Hut just had no idea of baby development, or whether Mindy just looks a lot older than she really is. Confused She's measuring about 62cm now in length and is filling her 3-6 month clothes (though I've had to take some waists in). I have a feeling I'm going to be spending her childhood explaining to people that she's not slow for her age - she's tall and younger than she seems!

Can I join the club of excessive bosom? I'm really hoping I shrink back down when I finish BFing. Confused I feel very top heavy at the moment, and buying bras is a nightmare! I fear I won't ever drop back to a D though, so won't be able to buy in non-specialist stores again. Boo!

My left side seems to be preferred too, Gracie! Though Mindy isn't that fussy and will generally take what's given - and want more. I know I'm bigger on the left though and can get more milk out of that side when I express.

I'm Envy of those of you back down to 10/12. That's what I started as, but currently I'm a 14/16 around my hips, thighs and bum. I'm having to get larger sizes for my top half too at present, they gape at the shoulders but my bust looks crammed in.

I'm going to have to tighten up my diet even more, I think! I'm currently only indulging in 1/3rd of a Double Decker bar each evening as my treat for the day, but I should probably shift my lunch from a sandwich to 'Green Day' pasta or something. The Slimming World style seems to work for me. :)

After a bit of a broken night the other day, we got 10pm - 7am of sleep last night. Grin Mindy was having a fussy, manic cluster feeding afternoon yesterday, I was stuck to the chair from 2pm - 9:30pm. However I then brought her upstairs, gave her 2 fl oz of warm expressed milk in a bottle, hummed some songs to her in the dark and she zonked right out!

We're going down to visit my parents tomorrow... 4 hours drive away! Confused Going to set off early and hope that Mindy will sleep most of the way, she's normally pretty good during the mornings. Anyone got any survival tips for small babies on long journeys?

memphis83 · 23/09/2010 09:07

dh wow your doing a few groups ive not managed any yet! im desperate to go swimming with him but i want dh to come with me the 1st time incase he hates it
MRI scan went well yesterday as far as i know, have to wait for results, fell asleep while having it done and woke myself snoring!! slightly pissed off, was supposed to see a mate today but got a message saying her baby is really poorly and didnt want us to catch anything, its been planned for a month, went to asda to get a bunch of flowers for a neighbour and she was in there with a smiley happy baby, apparently with huge open sores on her arse but she was bouncing on her bum giggling, why lie the stupid cow, my friends are shit they really are! so now dont know what to do today!
dh got a golfday on saturday so im stuck on my own then as well, he moaned yesterday as i never empty nappy bin!!! i pointed out to him i do everything else, saying have you ever ironed?, cook, clean toilet etc etc, felt guilty and as lo got up at 4 because he went to sleep at 7 he got up to entertain him!

memphis83 · 23/09/2010 09:11

spirael when i took lo to cornwall at 4 weeks old they brought us a highchair in pizza hut he was only a young lad and admitted he thought all babies could sit up! for long journey my advie is set off early, just after bum change and a feed and put her in something comfy without a waistband, Lyndon slept for our whole journey but i stopped half way to stretch his back and top his feed up

You know, I'm certain that if I went to one of those bra fitting people I'd have about three cup sizes between my Laurel boob and my Hardy boob. Gracie, LMAO at your DS saying your right boob doesn't make good milk! I guess I ought to ust be thankful that BFing is helping me loose weight, even if i am still 4" thicker round the middle than I was.

The stupid thing about DHs behaviour last night is that for him, it's not even particularly odd. The thing I always forget is that he's lived alone in his artistic hole for about 15 years. Plus the 14year age gap between us puts us almost in seperate genarations. He's never worked in an office or commuted or done anything remotely "normal". Having grown up in the most middle of the road, middle class family in Christendom. it takes a little getting used to.

The stupid thing? i have the perfect baby.she slept from 9-7am last night, and is the most contented child in the world. I'm the luckiest mother ever, but my husband is causing more problems than the baby!

Chulita · 23/09/2010 10:07

Argh! I was going to go to soft play this morning but I just remembered that one of my tyres has a huge bulge in it...I don't really want to be driving on a dual carriageway with it in such bad condition Angry I can't get it replaced very easily cos what do I do with the 2 babies while they do it? Sam I can manage but DD would be a nightmare!

I'm also going to stop reading this thread with all the angelic babies [wanders off twitching]

Spirael · 23/09/2010 10:42

I should be ok as far as car seats are concerned. :) I have a Britax Babysafe Sleeper - which is basically a carrycot which clips across two seats in the back of the car. Mindy just about still fits in it... (It's meant to be good until 6 months!)

I presume if she's laying fully flat I don't need to worry about the 2 hour car seat rule quite so much? Do you think I'll be ok just to keep driving until unless she starts to squeak/bawl? I have vague hopes we could make it to my parents in 3.5 hours if the traffic is light, and not need to stop once... [delusional]
