Hi all.

bit mad here.

Will catch up tomorrow. x

chefswife · 05/10/2010 20:38

Happy Birthday Tree... I think I missed that on FB. Some of the birthdays and events don't come up for me... actually, there sort of hidden I guess... not like it was before with notifications. Did anyone catch the new Simpsons? Mark Zuckerburg... (man I can't remember if he's a 'burg' or a 'mann'... whatever I guess) was a guest and well, it was just funny. If you like the Simpson's.

DD and I went for a swim this morning. I feel a lot better today. I woke up at 5am and thought, well, I feel good right now, I should get a bowl of cereal. So I did, went back to bed and I think it made a world of good. Then when I got up with DD 2 hours later, I had another one. Shock Still felt good, so we went swimming. Just as we got home I started to feel that weird feeling that makes me loose my appetite and everything smells awful but we ate (egg salad sandwiches) and I'm still good. Nap time is coming up and I'll be going down for one too and DD is already knackered. Just watching her play right now and she is doing some very constructed things with her giant lego, even alternating colours perfectly and such. Isn't she a bit young to be so precise?

chefswife · 05/10/2010 20:50

Tree I won't pay the high price for swimming. Not when DD and I go every week. I've been ease dropping on the lessons that are on when we go and practice all the things they do with the kids with DD. I refuse to do the lifejacket though. I have a real animosity towards kids that wear them in the pool or at the beach and there's no boat in site. They aren't meant for that... kids cannot learn how to swim in them let alone play in them. And they can be dangerous if used for that reason. I use a little kick board for DD now; she holds on and kicks her legs and off she goes. She jumps into the pool by herself, blows bubbles and is comfortable getting in and out by herself. At this age, swimming confidence can be gained just be going. I'll put her in next year though when all her little friends are in it. She is loving gymnastics... we went once and the following week, when we walked towards the stairs, she recognized it and was "Ya ya ya". Too cute. She is so gun ho with it.

treedelivery · 05/10/2010 21:05

Oh how cute is that!?

I mainly signed up as they are held in a school pool I can't use otherwise. Our council pool is like somethng from the Soviet. Comfortable it is not

So far we haven't used any aids at all, I think the idea is they learn independent smimming sklls. DD was unamused by being bobbed under, but then she did have a temp which I hadn't realised. What she does really adore is climbing out and jumping in off the side Grin

She hasn't got to the kicking stage yet, but she is reaching. So not bad for her second session. SHe's less keen on the nursery songs and stuff, she wants to be off chasing balls and jumping in Grin

Glad you felt better today chef, sounds like a smart cookie you have there. dd2 shows no such application. She is more into jumping off the couch and rolling about on the floor GrinHmm

Have eaten toast. Lets see how we go!

Oh Chef that is good about today, very impressed at your clever little DD and her swimming too. My two wear Konfidence float suit swimming costumes Shock Blush So I'm a bad mummy. You can remove individual floats as they get more confident in the water so gradually they start swimming without any. DD is getting so confident now I do need to remove a few actually. Just have been too scared to try. DS hates swimming still, very scared in the water. I want DD to have lessons but still too brassic to go there yet.

teaandcakeplease · 05/10/2010 21:37

It's a basic open university understanding children openings course, which I'll follow with the next course up. I thought trying to do them in bite size chunks would work better for me but my self motivation is rubbish right now Blush

missjackson · 05/10/2010 22:00

chef I felt pretty much the same as you the first 10 weeks or so - it does go away though. I think you are right about the difference this time being the added toddler! I can't believe I ever thought work was hard! What helped my nausea was to simply keep eating - toast, cereal, carbs etc especially. I had to eat about every 2 hours to feel okay. But all fine now at 17 weeks or whatever I am.

Happy Birthday tree! Swimming lessons sound fun - I took N when he was very little, but would be nice to do them again - I found when I took him with friends, we just splashed around and it got boring, I think we need the structure of the lessons. tea I wouldn't feel bad about the float costumes - as long as they are having fun in the water, that's the only objective at this age surely.

books yey for ebay, there will be no stopping you now. I have a whole shelf of stuff waiting to go...

dog how are you and little J? Hope you are getting some sleep.

I have an exceptionally amazing DH it must be said, but he still fails on the regular naps and meals thing - when he has N for the day, he doesn't nap until he falls asleep in the tractor, and lunch is usually 2 bananas! But at least DH doesn't party. It would drive me fucking crazy if he went out and got drunk without me.

May try to sneak to London around the 17th when DH is away, but have so much to do. I know I should be super excited about our trip but all I can think about right now is the organisation involved - just boring stuff like claiming my mat allowance and spa treatments health in pregnancy grant which has to be done at 25 weeks when I am away. Anyway, must sleep now, am knackered after day out in Cardiff.

hkz have ordered that house in mummy book! Any other good ones on the same subject? What did other people do to get their pfbs used to the idea of a second?

We told dd at 8 weeks. SO the day after we knew. No patience.

We thought if anything happened we would simply say it was a mstake, and knew she wouldn't give a hoot. We never actually got any books and stuff, as dd just got it and accepted and was excited, happy, cool and sensible about it. Mind you, she was 4.

She immediately declared that is was a girl and would be called Poppy. She still calls her it. Smile

Dog Envy at the mum with pool thing. Am liking that.

treedelivery · 05/10/2010 22:35

Don't no one be bidding on two Frugi outfits 12-1 months!! We'll be in a bidding war together! Grin

missjackson · 05/10/2010 22:43

Ooh yes, Envy at Mum with warm pool!

books we have found homes for most of the horses, they will be off to various riding colleges for the winter, but about half of them are youngsters away at grass anyway. Just a couple of stallions and some naughty teenagers left at the farm, but FIL can handle those.

tea at most impressed at your OU course - I meant to do the psych conversion course when N was born, applied but never actually started it - will have no hope now with another one. Need some sort of career change. Was slightly dreaming that I could find telly work in Cardiff 3 days a week for a year's time or something, but after drive there today, well over an hour, no way. We can meet up next spring, don't worry - the summer sort of ran out, didn't it?

In fact, has anyone got any 6-12 or 12-18 month Frugi their dd has grown out of? Mine is just getting a little tall for 6-12m trousers, but otherwie they would fit Smile

We could do business Grin

chefswife · 06/10/2010 01:08

Tea Those swimming suits are way different than the bloody honking big lifejackets these kids have on. I've seen those suits and for a little one that doesn't get to go as much as say we do or isn't as comfortable in the water, they are handy and designed for learning. You can see these kids struggling with these darn lifejackets on. You're not a bad mummy... hope I didn't offend you with my comment.

hackneyzoo · 06/10/2010 09:24

Miss J these ones are good...
Waiting for baby and My New baby They worked well with DD as they were picture books so you make make up the story to suit you.

I got this one for DD's benefit this time around, its a homebirth story and its quite factual...but its about a hippy family living in the woods and the baby is bron and they all go to sleep around the fire afterwards ! Hello baby Its so sweet!

Tea I've been given one ogf those suits with the floats for DS, I tried to get it on him and gave up...is there a trick to it? Am I meant to take all the float bits out?

Hi Dog Grin. I've been having lunch with a 2 week old. He slept for the whole hour then cried when we left.

I love peppa pig too. That tune is rather too catchy though.

Can't believe J is so big already! My lunch companion (who was born at 38wks) has just regained his birth weight of 6 4oz! The titch. His mum is pretty small too though.

that sounds yum! I always add the milk, flour and butter into the pan together, then whisk regularly as it heats up. Once it's bubbling I throw in the cheese and nutmeg. Sorted!

I'm having cheese & broccoli soup. Better get my arse in gear as haven't made it yet and have to go and pick them up in an hour!

or you could do cauliflower cheese pasta bake. you'd have to do the sauce but then just boil the pasta with the cauliflower, mix it up and shove some tomatoes and cheese on top... make a big one and you have lunch tomorrow too!

Then again. I love jacket potatoes. Used to live off them at Uni. Do you eat tuna or are you a non fish veggie?
