I'm hanging about to keep on top of the posts and its been a little tumbleweedy here this afternoon. This whole new baby thread is crazy! There's so many on it! Must be like 50 people. Seriously. That's a lot of May babies. lol.

teaandcakeplease · 22/09/2010 19:20

First time on this thread today. I'll catch up later.

It transpires that Noah has an inguinal hernia that will need to be operated on. And there we were thinking he was almost out of the woods. Gah! Sad

Swimming glad it isn't just me who doesn't actually enjoy swimming V. Much. I've got quite dry skin and if i don't go through the pita of moisturising head to toe after a shower, i feel like cling film has been wrapped around me. Blurgh. That said, Esme loves it and i've taken her the past 2 weeks with another Mummy friend. DH was suposed to take her today but now has the sicky bug!

Dog Hope the blues don't last long.

Tink GLTC beds are gorgeous. Not even thinking about beds right now. We bought the Mamas and Papa's Ocean Range for Esme, and the cot bed goes to Approx 6 Yrs old, as the side comes off and makes it into a 'day bed' We have friends who's 4 Yr old is still happily in it, so thats the plan for us. Esme isn't even trying to climb out, so i think she will be in the cot for a good while yet.

Tea Firstly, thats the first time i've heard DS's Name... Noah, absolutely LOVE it! Secondly, sorry to hear poor poppet has a hernia. Whats a inguinal hernia as oposed to a hernia? DH had a double hernina (Pretty common in sportsmen, Especially footballers) a few years ago, and had Key hole surgery, 3 TINY Scars, 1 in belly button, 1 either side of it. On the plus side, they repair it with Mesh, so i'm told that the Hernina's cannot come back! Poor little mite.

Chef Thanks, its lovely to be back, i've been racking my brains as to how i managed to loose touch with it, and have drawn a blank. Who knows. Anyway i'm back!

Waves to others xxx

teaandcakeplease · 22/09/2010 19:49

Noah is my nephew who was born premature. No idea abour hernia ops or the difference between them. Still reeling from the news. Should go off and google about it really, shouldn't I?

moosemama · 22/09/2010 20:01

Evening,

Just popping in to see if Tree is back and see if her parents' evening went well.

Tea, so sorry Noah has to have an operation. I was thinking about him when I posted last night, but somehow managed to miss the question off my post.

Ray, Noah is Tea's nephew, he is in SCBU after being born premature and has had a rough old ride, poor little mite.

Dog, sorry you have the blues. Hormones have such a lot to answer for don't they.

I have to go now, poor dog is in a terrible state, freaking out and has already managed to pop a stitch fighting her lampshade collar.

Had a massive afternoon due to an impromptu meeting with ds1's teacher which yielded some interesting revelations and left me both Confused and Angry. Still the good news is that the Schools Autism Inclusion Specialist Support Service is going in to observe him in class tomorrow, so at last it feels like things are starting to happen for him and there might be at least a chink of light at the end of the tunnel. Shame it took me giving the school a great big boot up the arse to even get this far though and would have been nice if they'd fed this back to me after their meeting last week rather than as an off the cuff comment in the playground. Hmm Angry

Right, I have to go and help dh with the dog. Might pop back later if things settle down a bit.

Waves to everyone I've missed.

treedelivery · 22/09/2010 20:02

Evening.

Have had some codeine for my head so feeling most odd, so can't chat long.

Poor Noah. I'm not sure about it, but my understanding is that it is one of the more common things?? Please don't qoute me!

I always thought is was me with the swimming. Glad it isn't. I HATE the feeling afterwards.

DD1 was in her Mammas and pappas cot/bed until she was 5. SHe was very happy in it. And actually has as much room as an adult in a single. SO it was great value for us, especially as it was £50 off ebay Grin

Lovely you are back Ray Smile

Dog, bet bruise from lying against pool?

Kids won't go to sleep and dd1 is tearful tired. She has gym tomorrow night and no me, I'm starting nights. Won't be around for her until Sunday evening. Typical our last night is me nagging her to sleep Sad

moosemama · 22/09/2010 20:08

Cross posts Tea, sorry. Smile

I think inguenal (sp?) hernia ops are fairly straightforward, but not sure how him being prem will affect that. Are they going to operate soon, or wait until he's bigger/stronger?

Ds1 has a suspected hiatus hernia and they said the op is relatively straightforward, but they tend not to do it with children if they don't have to as many are asymptomatic. Ds1's is not asymptomatic at the moment, but his reflux is clouding the picture. We are currently keeping a diary of his symptoms to give to the consultant, so he can decided whether or not to carry out an endoscopy to check how bad it is.

hackneyzoo · 22/09/2010 20:10

Tea sorry Noah has more medical stuff to go through. Don't google! I would do a search on an NHS site or on here, google will just do your head in! Start a thread in children's health, people on here are always full of wisdom and support when it comes to kids medical stuff

Dog sorry you have te blues today. I got that with DD but not DS. Its weird feeling so empty when you are so happy at the same time. Hopefully the hormones will settle soon. How is your lovely bubba?

Chef I posted on my new ante natal thread a few times but it was too busy for me too! There were about 60 other mums on there and I had no chance of keeping up...So how does it work in BC, do you have to book privately for a mw or is there a public health service like here?

Pat hope your DH's scan will give him some positive news.

Tree well done on the swimming. I feel bad for not taking DS, just can't be arsed and East London pools tend to be either a) grotty or b) super swanky but totally packed and I have a veruca! (That's my excuse Grin)

Moose hope the doggy is doing well. Could you not get a dog sitter in to watch them for the day?

Just got back from GP for my 16 week check ...only 8 weeks late Blush Have another UTI so have been given ABs. Heard the heartbeat too which was good and strong. My tummy seems to have popped out in te last week, so have gone from looking a bit porky to having a basket ball up my top. And my tummy is covered in hair all of a sudden...very sexy.

Rrrrayray · 22/09/2010 20:12

Tea Sorry for confussion as to who Noah is, Still love the name though, afraid DH was 25 at time of his Hernia Op, so am of no help. Will be thinking of you all.

Tree Hope you feel better soon, get off MN, the Screen is prob making you head worse! Wink

Moose Glad the wheels seem to be set in motion, will keep fingers crossed for observation tomorrow!

moosemama · 22/09/2010 20:12

Evening Tree - I really must go, but didn't want to run off just as you posted.

Dd and ds1 are still up as well. Hmm

Not good as apparently ds1 fell asleep during maths today. Shock All a bit confused actually and am a bit worried about it bearing in mind the whole 'absence seizures' worry we've been having with him. Am desperately trying not to be paranoid about it.

hackneyzoo · 22/09/2010 20:14

x posts moose and tree. Moose glad the school are getting on with things now, you must ave done a good job of arse kicking!
Tree hope your head feels better and you all manage to get some sleep.

teaandcakeplease · 22/09/2010 20:22

If your kids are giving you a headache, follow the directions on the aspirin bottle, especially the part that says "keep away from children." ~Susan Savannah

Just saw this and it made me laugh. I need a laugh after today :-)

moosemama · 22/09/2010 20:24

HKZ, I got the GP to refer, then held back the referal form, covering letter and supporting evidence and sent the school a letter saying - I have a medical referral signed, stamped and ready to send if you can't get your arses into gear (or words to that effect Grin). Also sent a pretty comprehensive report of background information on ds1 and a copy of the Paediatricians written diagnosis of Aspergers (the school already have this, but are plainly in denial).

It took me ages and lots of stress and angst to put it all together and I wasn't sure I'd done the right thing, but seems like it may have been worth it.

I know the school are mega pissed off at me, but I don't care any more, as long as ds gets the support he needs.

moosemama · 22/09/2010 20:26

Tea - that made me laugh too! Grin

Right, I really must go. Fortunately dh has settled the dog, ds1 has gone up to bed and dd is dozy on the sofa next to me. This means I can now have my dinner.

hackneyzoo · 22/09/2010 20:33

Moose that's good, am glad you ave the GP on side now too. The school have no right to be pissed off with you, they sound shambolic. You have the right attitude and a lucky DS to ave a Mummy to get things in place for him.

treedelivery · 22/09/2010 21:01

I'm glad Moose, do you feel you got somewhere then? Tell us about it, did you see the teacher or send the letter in and have a response?

Right. I really must try sleep.

chefswife · 22/09/2010 21:54

HKZ We have to book a MW ourselves. The obstetrician's and midwives are on almost equal ground here, I guess you say. Usually you find your own obstetrician as well if your family doctor isn't affiliated with one. But the bonus with having a MW here is that person will be with you throughout the whole pregnancy and birth, they block off the patients like that. My MW said that in the five years she's been working in BC she's never experienced a cross over of births only a couple of missed appt which are directed to the other woman she works with. Its a great system and there is no feeling like the MW you have is the only one you get sort of thing it seems like in the UK... every other person really disliked/s their MW or does it just seem that way?

The new baby thread is freaking me out!

120 · 23/09/2010 08:51

Congratulations chef! Love the conception. yay, another thread baby!

Morning all.

Tried to post link last night but couldn't get on MN. About 20.30, Anyone else have problems, or just moi?

Hopefully this should work, have a nose, feedback would be much appreciated, so far, the Ebay buyers feedback has been excellent.

Little Girl's hair clips

tink You must have sent the rain this way, it arrived about 7am and hasn't stopped! GLTC stuff is beautiful, She'll be a lucky girl whatever you choose!

Chef Midwife wise (From a 1 child mother) it really is pot luck over here, as it is for GP's. The whole NHS system is pot luck, Take Dentists, in our new area we moved into in March ALL the NHS dentists aren't taking new patients. Idiotic. So we've all gone private- costs a bloody fortune, but teeth are rather important. Then take medication, can you believe that different NHS health trusts (Local areas have their own) fund different medications, like breast cancer drugs, someone in Manchester may be able to get a drug that i might not be able to here, or vice versa- For this reason we have health insurance! But, back to midwives, i actually had a REALLY good experience with Esme, i did the birth centre route, which only has 3 midwives, so i'd met them all during antenatal appointments and knew that 2 of the 3 would be there to deliver. I think i was particuarly lucky, the place was only 2/3 years old, they only deliver on average 3 babies a week, and have 2 HUGE delivery rooms with birth pools, and the bedrooms afterwards are also huge with Ensuite....... You couldn't have got a better service going Private!

Tree How are you feeling this morning?

Tea Thinking of you, your sister and little Noah.

Esme just dropped at Nursery, she is going 1 morning a week for three hours, adores it and is about 30 seconds from my house.

Off to loose a few pounds in body hair.... Waxing, Ouch! Oh how i long to spend the 3 baby free hours doing something other than waxing or housework, never happens!

moosemama · 23/09/2010 10:07

Morning,

Tree, will email you with what happend as I just typed it out and its humungous! Blush

Actually it has really helped me to type it all out. I tried to write it all up in the diary we are keeping for him last night, but was too Angry to think straight. I've remembered far more with a smidgeon of perspective this morning.

Hope you managed to get a decent night's sleep and are feeling better this morning.

Our poor dog is sooo distressed and unhappy. Its horrible to see, but its crystallised my feelings that I won't be putting our old gal through an op for her problems. I just couldn't put her through it at her age and state of health.

Dh slept downstairs with her last night as the first thing she did when we put on her lampshade collar was freak out, pop a stitch and spray blood everywhere. Hmm She settled down eventually though and seems a bit calmer this morning.

moosemama · 23/09/2010 11:03

Ray, they are really sweet. Bet you sell loads.

Unfortunately dd still hardly has any hair - just a couple of curls at the back, so I fear it will be a long time before we are in need of any hairclips.

Oh for some child free time. We are going out for the evening to see Christy Moore on November 3rd and that will only be my second time without dcs this year. Hmm

treedelivery · 23/09/2010 11:09

Morning.

Better today thanks Smile although have that background hum of a headache. You know it will pounce you just don't know when.
ANother lovely day. Back in a vest, dd2 in sandpit in her nappy and a tshirt.

My day ends in a few hours, mum is arriving [after a few hours sleep after her night poor thing] and I need to go sleep for tonight. I don't want to though. Pah.

Have seen a job locally teaching at the college. I don't think it is access course level, maybe the next one down. It's only about £10 ph though, and I bet teh hours are ad hoc. I'd love that, but we rely on my money.

Have replied to your email Moose. It's mostly just swearwords and big talk Hmm but the story maks me so angry I feel like going to visit shout at this head myself!! Ahhhh impotent rage. Nothing like it.
