New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 15/09/2010 09:14

okie you are a very cheeky girl! Wink I'd also recommend Japhrimael (?) for bubble advice.

As far as the radiator goes... still 20 degrees in the bedroom at night - radiator not going on any time soon!

I've had screaming this morning - this is typical right as I need to shave my legs and digest technical information. Gah.

slow typing + laughing at baybee = many x-posts. oops

iggypiggy · 15/09/2010 09:27

casp I realised that too! I should have thrust the piglet upon you! Grin was so interesting comparing the sizes of baybees considering they were due a day apart but are actually 5 weeks apart in age!

cossie I know Sad I thought we would def be here next week, but am off on thurs..

rots sorry, did think I would be here longer. Would have liked to meet FP too...

Meant to also say-skates your birth sounds great! Is a lovely place isn't it? My midwife was also lovely and was with me the whole time, she dropped in to visit me the next day too. I also ended up with epidural... And it was fantastic after the 39 hours of contractions before! Instant relief... Not that I fou d the contractions unmanageable, but I was so tired and it was such a nice feeling.

Cosmosis · 15/09/2010 09:27

CurlyCasper · 15/09/2010 09:30

Envy "maternity stuff falling off me" Envy

I am still wearing mainly maternity clothes.

Cosmosis · 15/09/2010 09:37

sorry casp, I seem to have lost most of my tummy already - what is left is pure jelly though Hmm

I would just like to share that Artie is the most gorgeous baybee ever. I know you all think your own are, but I have to inform you that sadly you are all mistaken.

iggypiggy · 15/09/2010 11:11

cossie I can confirm that Artie is gorgeous - but piglet is too - in fact she is the beautiful girl in the world - I just told her that so it is definitely true Grin

casp I am wearing a combo of maternity and non maternity - so please not to feel bad

CUNextTuesday · 15/09/2010 12:20

Rastus is wearing my maternity clothes Hmm

CurlyCasper · 15/09/2010 12:29

sounds about right.

Anyone an expert on employment regs etc? I am considering applying for reduced (80%), annualised hours. Obv my salary and holiday entitlement would be reduced, but would it impact on the maternity pay I am currently hardly receiving? Or do I get to keep the wonga regardless?

OkieCokie · 15/09/2010 13:04

Curls I think the mat pay thing is a done deal - you get it. What terms you go back on are a separate issue but that is just my humble opinion. However if you have a 2nd baby then your maternity pay (if it is enhanced by uyour company) wil be based on your 80% pay.

Iggs, Cos Cunty plz tell name of hippo book and cd you listened too. No time for lessons...

FannyPriceless · 15/09/2010 13:05

I am also in combination of maternity and non-maternity still. Have many clothes crises. Envy at cos losing tummy. I have a large upended bowl of wobbly jelly attached to my front which is showing no sign of moving. And thunder thighs which refuse to fit into normal trousers.

ski Good luck for today. Do your best to keep buzwams under cover. And of course take interviewing inspiration from .Wink

We too extracted a huge bogeysnot this morning! Must be the day for it. Don't worry about baby Vicks. We have been smothering Snuffle Babe all over Clyde's sleeping bag since about 6 weeks, and from 3 months now has a liberal splodge on his chest each night. I even told the HV what I was doing (pre 3 mths) and all she said 'Hmm, well as long as it's not on his skin.'

cos So glad basket tilt has worked. We still have Bonnie's cot bed jacked up at 2 years. I don't know why they simply don't make basket stands and cots with tilted legs as every baby seems to need this.

iggy I would like to meet you too!Smile I need to sit you down and brief you on this sensible cob you are going to find for me.Wink

casp If it's purely SMP (ie. 6 weeks at 90% then rest at basic weekly payment) then you don't have to pay any back, even if you resign at the end of ML and walk away. You would only have to pay back if you are being paid more generously by your employer, and any pay back required must be stated in their internal policy documents. I doubt that you would have to pay back if you are moving to 80% FTE, as long as your employ continues for a certain length of time.

CurlyCasper · 15/09/2010 13:15

thanks both. Husband due a big pay rise in the coming year and I'd rather take the pay cut to spend more time with Squeaks than work FT and give the money to minders. Might be a big ask though, me being a manager and all, but we'll see. Better ask sooner rather than later cause if they say no, I'll have to find care.

always bogey-tastic here!

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 13:43

curly your SMP maternity pay is based on what you're earning at a specific point in your pregnancy - roughly 4/5 months prior to the due date. You can probably look this date up on line on that gov site. I got my company to pay me a maternity bonus at this point (not as flash as it sounds trust me) and this boosted the weekly salary that my SMP is based on. So, what I'm trying to say, is that if you were to do 80% working up to a certain point and then you were back on normal hours for however long that needs to be (a month or 2 max say) that would mean you'd get your full and current entitlement. Might be worth thinking about - if they do offer you the option to work more flexibly that is.

okie do you want me to copy my Marie Mongan Rainbow Relaxation CD and book? I bought the book off ebay for a few quid and luckily it is the main one for the course (she is the hippo birthing inventor). I've also got notes for the sessions and I am more than happy to talk through with you - might do me some good as well.

FannyPriceless · 15/09/2010 13:48

Take heart casp. I was successful in moving to 80% when I was CEO. A sensible company will know they'll probably still get just as much contribution from you for less moolah - everyone wins.

Forgot to mention - happy birthday to me!Grin We have a dinner booking tonight but I'm very nervous given Clyde's under enthusiasm for bottles and tendency to furiously clusterfeed of an evening. Fingers crossed we don't get a frantic call from babysitter.

I'm off to the weghing station baby clinic as soon as this feed is over.Smile

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 13:59

Happy birthday Fanny!!! I'm sure Clyde will be A-OK. Enjoy your din dins.

CurlyCasper · 15/09/2010 14:01

Thanks again all!

I really do take heart from that fanny! And a fabulocious birthday to you

Hope evening goes smoothly.

I must be off. Rheumy doctor awaits.

organiccarrotcake · 15/09/2010 14:28

Good luck cas

Happy Birthday fanny!!

ski do you speak Dutch? What are your thoughts on technical support?

OkieCokie · 15/09/2010 14:41

Whoop for FP birfday! Here, have this flaming drambuie!

Moo very good of you on the hippo stuff! I swap it for a copy of Angels and Urchins?!

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 14:56

okie I will dress up as birf guru and light my best candles for the occasion. We will eat polenta and sit cross legged. D'accord?

OkieCokie · 15/09/2010 15:37

As long as they are Jo Malone candles and we say hommmmmmm in unision then Oui! I will wear my White Company Cashmere lounge wear attire.

iggypiggy · 15/09/2010 15:38

Happy birthday FP! Can't go wrong with a coloured cob Wink

okie it is the marie mongon hypnobirthing one. Is v. american, but if you can get over that is def worth it!

Tips for trying the bottle tonight anyone? I have now got tommy tipee one or the medula one that came with the pump or the dr browns one. We failed with Dr Browns last time... Shall I warm the milk? Is in fridge at mo... Shall I leave the house and leave bloke to it? Should he try a diff position to the one I use for BF?

sorry for random selection of questions!

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 15:54

OMG you have White Company Cashmere lounge wear attire? Envy

OkieCokie · 15/09/2010 16:08

No moo I just covet it...

rollerbaby · 15/09/2010 16:20

That's ok then, you can still be my friend.

SkiHorseWonAWean · 15/09/2010 16:43

rots Ja hoor meijse (hoor pronounced whore Grin)! Tech support - depends what I'm supporting really I suppose.

iggy Yes, milk must be warmed, you can do it in the micro. Well, that's not strictly true - doesn't need to be warmed, but she'll much more likely to accept it warm - PLUS booby milk has fat which sticks to the sides of the bottle if you don't heat it - and surely all the really good stuff is fat soluble! I'd let him get on with it - he's a clever chap and can decant to different bottles. I wouldn't worry about trying to mimic your positions - him and her will figure it out. :)

cossie Sorry, but Artie is not the most beautiful little boy in the world.
