CUNextTuesday · 01/11/2010 09:26

Cosmosis · 01/11/2010 11:06

oooh yay!!!!

CUNextTuesday · 01/11/2010 14:57

OMFG my kid is in his cot having a nap. Wonders will never cease. He picks the day next door have roofers hammering away so I'm not expecting 2 hour miracles, but you never know!!

rollerbaby · 01/11/2010 15:43

cunty whatever you are doing, stop, sit down and take a minute to shut your eyes and chill!!!! How lovely.

Might as well open a bottle of something cold whilst you're at it...

FannyPriceless · 01/11/2010 17:01

cunty Envy!! Clyde falls asleep on me like a lumpen piece of rock, but if I put him down in his cot I get either eyes open straight away, or agonised crying within 5 minutes. I know he is supposed to be getting more sleep than this!

Hope it's all going well for silv![smile}

CUNextTuesday · 01/11/2010 17:17

90 mins! Beautiful!

cheggers · 01/11/2010 17:31

ah well done cunty, a baby by the book Smile

in my world, i have discovered that heavy drinking and the subsequent night time baby care of growth spurting twinnies is not a good combination.

that is all.

oh except for a quick shout out for silv. hope all is well, and looking forward to the reportage ..... Grin

AlpinePony · 01/11/2010 18:33

fanny Pretty much the same situation here... zonks out in my arms and then as I place him in another receptacle - chair/cot - the eyes open instantly and he gives me a look which says "if you so much dare to put me down, I shall yell!". I've managed to get him to sleep in the cot on his own during the day only a handful of times. Confused

Well first day back went well... my manager wasn't in so I spent some time trying to configure my new laptop until I left the office at 3. By 6pm I'd managed to lock myself out of the laptop. Aye. Hmm Am going in tomorrow for 2 hours but thankfully lots of "home" time coming up. Made an enormous mistake today of sitting next to the-most-boring-woman-in-Holland :( - this may well have contributed to my early escape. Bear was absolutely fine about the fact that I was gone when he woke up - I think it's helped that I've been out and about doing "mum" things so it's not come as a complete shock - plus jb is often out at work when he wakes up so he's used to a bit of a mixed up routine.

cheggers I don't know how you do it. Was with a friend last week and her baby started crying as she was getting the bottle ready, so I picked up her's... then Bear started crying and I Just couldn't for the life of me figure out how I might pick up two! Grin

My life has changed since my best mate came to stay. She is an advocate of controlled-crying lite and she held my hand throughout the whole process. Reader, it took 3 days to crack the routine and now I'm not afraid to let him cry because I know he will be asleep in no more than 15 mins. That 15 mins initially feels like a lifetime mind, but it gets less and less. You have to put them down semi-awake though so a vigorous winding session or a bit of bouncing is a must. Then self-settling occurs spontaneously at any time of the day/night.

Let me tell you, I was a total helicopter, as soon as wailing started I was up there shshing, manhandling, feeding, anything. Now I can leave him knowing that he's cross with me but that he's tired and wants to sleep and eventually zeds replace anger. He's never slept so well.

CC not for everyone perhaps - I was adamant I wasn't going to ever do that to my PFB -but he's far less crotchety, sleeps far more soundly and longer and there is now minimal grumbling upon being put in the cot.

It helps that we have a video monitor so I can keep an eye on him.

Muser · 01/11/2010 19:39

Best clear some space in here FESHes. Witty is queue jumping as we speak.

rollerbaby · 01/11/2010 19:53

HARRUMPH. :)

cunty that sounds really, really good. Now can you talk me through it when I am tearing out chunks of hair?

Annoying desk mate and IT problems....sounds like a normal day at work alpro.

AlpinePony · 01/11/2010 20:05

Yay switty and silver - c'mon honey there's nothing like a cluster-lay! Grin

CurlyCasper · 01/11/2010 20:10

I'm back from finally getting pissed! 'twas fun.

Boo to the work return alpie, but hurray to the sleeping baby cunster.

We do something similar. We never leave her if she's really howling because that usually only escalates. But I distract her, bundle her down, try to get the dummy in and let her moan away to herself. It works because sometimes Squeaker cries more if you pick her up/fuss her. When she has no good reason to wail, and noone to wail to, she generally just chunters to herself for a bit then drops off. (been conked out on sofa for quite a while as a result of the same).

Grin at the tiger bashing cossie.

Must go and catch up more. Come on silver and switty! (I would say moo too, but she seems to be biding her time Wink)

CurlyCasper · 01/11/2010 20:11

x-post somehow. Sending you softening vibes moo

rollerbaby · 01/11/2010 20:11

Me and okie are going to set off fireworks on Friday for the event!!

Cosmosis · 02/11/2010 09:00

Come on layers!!

I am currently working on getting artie to sleep in other places rather than me. He will only sleep in his chair if you rock it continually. So the point of getting him to sleep elsewhere is rather negated as you are still tied to him. Hence currenlty bidding on electric swings on ebay. He will sleep in moses basket if you put him down asleep and then do 10 - 15 mins of rocking though.

Somehow, he is better at morning naps than afternoon - we had a nightmare yesterday. 3 he started to yawn, I fed him, he dozed off, I put him in chair, he woke after 15 mins. Wouldn't go back to sleep, so I thought pram would do it. 30 mins of walking later with him just staring at me, he had a total melt down - full on screaming with me trying to calm him down sitting on bench outside church. finally calmed him down enough to feed and he dropped off. woke after 20 mins. resorted to trip to supermarket to ensure a hours sleep - which meant that after a feed he was happy enough for me to keave with TGO while I went for a run.

AlpinePony · 02/11/2010 09:04

The Lord clearly laid his Holy finger upon him! Wink I've put Bear in an electric swinging chair - a marvellous contraption! Well done on your run though. :)

OkieCokie · 02/11/2010 09:27

Cunty glad you have seen the light with the sleep ishoos. I was always a bit of a softy when it came to CC but thankfully Mini C liked getting his kips in however it all seems a bit of a hazy memory. I am hoping this one will be as chilled.

Alpy well done for getting through the first day back at work. And Cos what is all this about running? I am knackered just thinking about it. I do however intend to do some kind of pilates and weight watchers combo in the new year with possibly a bit of swimming thrown in - good intentions and all that. Maybe I can rope moo in a mother and baby pilates class?

ANY NEWS FROM SILVER?

Right, so what is all this I hear about Wit

AlpinePony · 02/11/2010 09:39

I haz texted silv again this morning and not heard anything back. :( I told her peoples needs to know!

cunty Well done with the crying/sleeping - we're pretty bad for that too - well jb worse than me, he's not developed nerves of steel yet.

OkieCokie · 02/11/2010 09:44

I hope Silv is OK. I am starting to worry that baby is refusing to come out of her foo foo and it is still in there growing into a toddler.

CurlyCasper · 02/11/2010 09:55

we shall have no more talk of this "running" malarkey!

mum and baby yoga starts in just over an hour, half an hour's drive away.I am currently in my jammies, trapped under a sleeping baby who needs to eat v soon. Somehow, I don't think we'll be doing the class... Smile

Definite teething pain here. She was miserable yesterday. Poor wee red cheeks, screaming, dribbling, diahorrea (sp?) etc. Thankfully she was so knackered she slept through properly (no dummy replacing or anything) after a week of 3,4, 5 am stirring.

Didn't have the teething ring with us while away, but a fat slice of cold cucumber seemed soothing enough. And the dog enjoyed eating it once baby had warmed it up Grin

Hope all is well with the layers.

rollerbaby · 02/11/2010 10:01

Mother and baby pilates sounds good okie, but only once I have the reassurance that I won't wee myself everywhere. First things first and all that.

Woke up at 0430 this morning with a sort of mild stabbing pain in my cervix. Not had that before. Lasted say 5 seconds. Then mild cramps on and off until 6 when I fell back to sleep. Nice cold coming on too...

So Im back in bed wondering if this is just the beginning or if I'm imagining it.

Seeing MW tomorrow for 41 week app. She will obviously offer me a sweep, but I want her to look first and see if things are changing in terms of cervix. Doula says she won't do this and will only do a VE if I agree to a sweep... I'm a bit confused as I thought they had a look first to see if there was any point doing one? What did you girls experience in the pre labour VEs?

CUNextTuesday · 02/11/2010 10:07

I can vouch for the leaving to cry for a bit thing - Rastus this morning showing crotchetty tendencies, dozing on the boob. Took him up to cot, he was doing all sorts of faffing whilst I got dressed and washed my hair. Told him it was sleepy time, few head strokes and mummy-loves-you's, then left the room. Babby monitor nearly rattled off the table for 7 minutes and I'm now observing him snoozing peacefully. For note: he has NEVER had a morning nap in all of his short life unless he's zonked out in the buggy. To say I am thrilled would be an understatement Grin

Come on layers!! News please?!

OkieCokie · 02/11/2010 10:53

moo I still wee myself a bit 2 years on! I am not sure if she will offer you a sweep to be done there and then tomorrow unless you want one. She may offer you one for later ini the week or early next week. You are only 40+2 non? Anything up your foo foo offers a risk of infection. I would maybe hold off until towards the end of the week. I doubt she would do a VE and no sweep.
