New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

Vag Thanks for your fab story! I read every word, but am still patientily waiting for cream cakes to appear at my side.Confused

box I am permanently window shopping for neddies. Ocasssionally I find my 'perfect' horse and keep the web page open for days, convinced I have actually bought it. Fantasy horse-buying is fun!
(Disclaimer: not fantasy horse as in expensive, just my perfect sensible happy well-schooled cob for reasonable price fantasy.)

Gaar! Can't write more as Count Clydula has awoken.

CurlyCasper · 27/10/2010 20:25

Just want to echo the thanks and "bravo!"s to VAG for the birth story posting. I hope you found it therapeutic to write. You did very well and I am a little Shock at monster sized Clint. For some reason his weight hadn't really sunk into my mush-for-brains until now.
Am now thinking that an ELCS or at least an early epidural might be required if I have a second and go full term. (only joking, if silv and honey are reading, you'll be just fine)

Thanks for the nice words re swaddling.
Glad it's working for you. We have just moved past the swaddle. For the last few nights Squeaks has managed to go down in her sleeping bag, and sleep until at least 5am with her arms flung out to the side/above her head. When she wakes I pop the dummy in, but she's far too interested in hands and mouth. She holds on to the dummy and fiddles around with it, shoving her fingers in her mouth and
trying to blow raspberries. But thankfully she will usually go back to sleep until about 6.30am/7am.

Of course, now that she can break out of pretty much any swaddle, it's harder to get her down in the daytime. She has to be really tired. So, plenty of over-tired screaming for the moment.

cunty I really hope Rastus settles soon. This 4-month sleep regression thing doesn't sound like fun.

alpie - I thought Bear's hair was there to stay. but OMG Ginger baybbeeeeeeee!!!!!111!!!
Still think I might have a strawberry blonde here...Smile

How's the list-making FP?

Backinthebox · 27/10/2010 22:36

Fab story VAG - but two and a half LITRES? WTF happened there then? I'm a bleeder, and don't do birth without lots of blood lost (I was censored on a private horsey chatroom due to my birth photos being 'too gory!') but I haven't lost that much in 2 births put together. But I'm afraid to tell you my son was a bigger lump than yours. A smidgen short of 9lbs at birth, and that was after he did a huge poo all over me! We went to visit a friend today who had a baby on the same day and her little is currently only 8lbs - a pound less than DS was 7 weeks ago. Confused

I am with you on the 'aaah-ing' - I didn't make a sound with DD, and according to Clucky I wasn't making much noise this time either. It was more of a huge sigh, but it really seemed to help get the breath out in a smooth controlled way.

Ski - ginger-baby-congrats. They are the best, if you can get past the fiery-ness of them. OH came in the door tonight and took one look at me then told me to get out - for my own sanity and to prevent me from killing a child! DS has a cold and has been needy since 4am without let-up, and DD is just DD. So I went to Clucky's and SHE WASN'T IN! How dare she go out! (Kate, I went to Army Lady's instead. She was on top bonkers form!)

Other news of the day - I have discovered Hobbycraft. I am going to decorate scrapbooks. I am hoping this will take my mind off buying horses. Although I have had a top lead for a lovely small show hunter that is very well-behaved, hunted and mannerly, lovely looking but will never be shown do to an acquired blemish. May have to investigate.....Grin

Moo try not to worry about stitches. I had a third and a second degree tear. The second degree one was larger but shallower, iyswim, and the thrid degree one exposed muscle but didn't damage it. I felt, ahem, a bit swollen down there for a week or so. But I followed advice and took 2 tea tree and lavender oil baths a day, kept it clean, and supported the area when going to the loo, and it has healed really well. It didn't really hurt, more like felt a bit like everything was going to fall out for a while. But I started riding horses again at 5 weeks - something I would not have believed if you had said that a week after giving birth.

CluckyKate · 28/10/2010 08:02

Sorry Box - sadly I has a job which means I'm working most weekdays :oP ......yesterday was a bit of a shocker though, didn't get away until gone 9pm. Roll-on mat leave - 9 weeks to go.

Great birthing story Vag - sounds pretty similar to mine only it was me demanding the epidural Grin. Going for natural hippo-birth this time Hmm

Cosmosis · 28/10/2010 08:47

We took Wellie for his final trip to the vets last night.

Cosmosis · 28/10/2010 08:56

VAG fab story thanks!

Moo stitches were finr. both during and after.

PollyPoo · 28/10/2010 09:16

Oh Cossie I'm so sorry. Sad

VAG loved your birth story, well done you! You sound like you were amazingly calm throughout. And Clint is adorable. Grin

OkieCokie · 28/10/2010 11:19

Cos that is sad news Sad. Poor Wellie.

SilverSky · 28/10/2010 11:22

costacoffee saw your post on fb. Hope you are ok. Horrible to loose a pet. It's the worst. We lost two cats within very short space of each other due to RTAs. HI cried his heart out. Welly will be happy at Rainbow Ridge.

Vag that is some birth story.

Thought I had period pains this morning, had a bath and they've gone.

Currently watching tv and then I need to do some housework. Bleurggh. I hate it. House seems constantly trashed. Doesn't help that HI leaves a trail of destruction behind him. TBF he is quite domesticated and does a mean job of cleaning. So have told him he has to tidy and clean before the flexi woman turns up later.

Got NCT today and our first baby will be joining us again. Hurrah!

CurlyCasper · 28/10/2010 11:54

So sorry cos. Sad ((()))

rollerbaby · 28/10/2010 12:04

cossie so sorry about your cat. xxx

Thanks for the reassurance on stitches guys. I shouldn't be worrying about anything I know!!! Doula says get excited and stop fretting....

AlpinePony · 28/10/2010 14:02

Cossie So sorry to hear about Wellie. :(

laurielou · 28/10/2010 14:58

Vag what a fabulous story - thanks for sharing it.

Cossie so sorry to hear about Wellie.

Ariesgirl · 28/10/2010 17:32

So sorry to hear about your cat Cossie. Pets break your heart :(

WELL DONE VAG! Sounds as though you were amazing and your parents sound like the sweetest parents ever. I hardly ever come on here because it scares the bejayzus out of me. 2 1/2 litres??? That's a couple of legfuls surely?

BTW Ski, all the best people are ginger. You know it to be true.

Backinthebox · 28/10/2010 21:30

Ah-hahahahahahahahaha! Today OH took a day off. He has decided I look a bit frazzled, so said he would look after the kids while I go and have a bit of 'me' time. So I went to the shops so I could buy myself nice things in a considered manner rather than taking a supermarket sweep approach and then getting home and wondering what the hell I've bought. The first thing about this that was nice was that I could shout 'fuckity-wanky-arsefaces! at other drivers who were driving like, well... rather than saying 'what a doughnut!' which is what I would say with DD in the car. Then I strolled around the shops and bought random stuff, but at least it was random stuff I liked rather than manic panic buying before DD shouts she wants a wee-wee and DS starts chomping at my chest leaving a small damp patch where he has failed to get through the t-shirt. When I got home 3 and a half hours later OH was sitting on the sofa going 'I'm so tired. I can't figure out why!' Welcome to my world! Only I do this every day, and BF at night too.

Cos sorry about your cat.

rollerbaby · 29/10/2010 20:15

Is anyone online? I've got quite a lot of discomfort down below but can't work out if it is pressure under my bump at the front of pubic area. Really uncomfortable, but not exactly cramp in my vag if you see what I mean...

Does this sound right????

AlpinePony · 29/10/2010 20:36

Not ringing any bells for me. Mine was through my back and exploding uterus type feelings. Confused

I believe Cossie's NCT teacher suggested a bath and a glass of wine... because you can't speed it up/slow it down so you may as well relax whilst you still can. x

rollerbaby · 29/10/2010 20:39

Is good advice... Am trying to ignore it but it's quite persistent. It might just be pressure from the head cos its sharp and jabby rather than achy. Fanks pone x

AlpinePony · 29/10/2010 20:42

Well hopefully someone will show up who had a proper labour and it might ring bells for them. :) Aspirin and a glass of wine? Massage from husband? Doggy cuddle? Btw, your baybee has a sharp & jabby head? Shock

Backinthebox · 29/10/2010 21:43

Sounding promising, Moo! DD was back2back and was through my back, like Ski said. But DS was right way round and first of all I felt nauseous, but when that progressed to feeling like contractions it was round the front low down, in waves. REally low down aches could be the cervix getting it's shit together. How exciting!

Keep us posted, I'm home alone this evening. OH and DS have gone to the pub. Yes - you read that right. Hmm OH's band is being wooed to play New Year's Eve, so OH had gone round for a chat and a drink with the landlord. As DS currently gets really cross with me for some reason between 6-9pm and I can't calm him down but OH can, OH took him with him. I think he gets cross because he likes to suck, but doesn't necessarily want milk, and he sees me and goes 'ooh, lovely sucky, sucky. Wah - milk! Not that - I just wanted to suck!' OH has lovely shaped little fingers that are just right for sucking but don't produce milk and DS likes this much better. Men!

rollerbaby · 29/10/2010 21:50

Gawd that sounds great box! I hope mr moo has the magic touch like that!

Husbo just rubbed back and I fell asleep on him momentarily. Big pain across bump when I woke up. Hmm. Tempted to go to bed with hippo cd shortly and see what happens or not as the case will probably be.

OkieCokie · 29/10/2010 21:53

Nowt wrond with a bit of male bonding down t'pub box.

FannyPriceless · 30/10/2010 13:00

[need some drama in my life emoticon]
Grin

Cosmosis · 30/10/2010 13:56

Ooh Honey that souds v promising I hope you are laying right now!!

rollerbaby · 30/10/2010 14:16

Sorry laydees with baybees... Have just been out for dawg walk and pub lunch but no laying just yet!!

I've managed to pull a muscle in my shoulder no doubt by trying to heave my massive bulk over in the middle of the night and now in bloody agony with it. Can't move it... so no baybee laying today ok!
