New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SilverSky · 19/10/2010 19:46

gypocob how was the interview?!

Jade Goody's sad story put the fear in me about smears and now am excellent patient.

Welcome back boxyboxer! That poo sounds like a right stinker.

Don't think we'll have junior arrive today or tomorrow. Not enough seems to be happening.

CurlyCasper · 19/10/2010 19:51

Sorry you've been trapped by a hungry boy boxy. Nice to have you back.

Just to be clear, I'm not scared to go for my smear. I'm just too lazy/disorganised. Now have to see docs for about 4 different reasons. Must book a time when I can go baby free...

Famous last words silver!

AlpinePony · 19/10/2010 20:03

silver I've been out all afternoon and you've not sneezed? Hmm Interview went very well and ran over time which is a good sign. The place is amazing I was so impressed... as I was leaving I heard them saying good things in Dutch to each other - then the director said to me "you understood that, didn't you?" and laughed. Finger's crossed! Will go in hard with the money - I know my shiz - and seriously, what do I have to lose? Am not going to relocate 200km for no monnay! Preggo central around there too...

Backinthebox · 19/10/2010 22:20

Whoops. Just bought a new Cozy Osko buggy bag/blanket in navy and aubergine for DS. Then, in a fit of internet-shopping-spree-ness I ordered yet another custom Babyhawk from the US. Well - it was OH's fault, you see. I lent one to a friend to see how it works and OH went to work with my favourite one in the boot of his car. So I was sling-less for a whole day. I was torn between a few designs - grey flames on the front on a black background with silver minkee? Or the cute owls on a blue background with chocolate straps? In the end I went for a blue filigree pattern with a turquoise minkee lining. I might have to go back for the flames and silver one, though. Wink When OH isn't looking.

Cosmosis · 20/10/2010 09:29

He does have it. We have an appointment with the vet tomorrow eve to discuss.

Go Alpie Go Alpie in a Ricki Lake stylie.

Same applies to the moo in the hope she is laying a baybee.

My boy is growing out off all his newborn clothes! Just as well FP gave us enough to clothe an army of Arties!!!

rollerbaby · 20/10/2010 09:39

oh cossie, that's horrible I'm so sorry.

No baybee here yet. Maybe by the end of The Wright Stuff.

Cosmosis · 20/10/2010 09:41

oh come on moo sort it out!! Wink

AlpinePony · 20/10/2010 09:53

Oh poor, poor Welly. :(

I've been putting an enormous amount of clothes away and he's still tiddly! :) Cossie You're using washable nappies aren't you? Are you finding any clothes brands more forgiving in the bum area than others? Bear has a teeny-tiny bum but some of his troos are quite difficult to pull on over his big, padded bum.

The place I interviewed at yesterday had a Starbucks in reception Shock and an all-weather 400m track with stands, a basketball court, etc., etc., etc.! Want.job! Just hope I didn't come across as too much of a twat. Button didn't pop off my trousers when I sat down though so that's always a bonus.

cunty So glad you've mastered swaddling. Current sleep pattern? 11-12 at night - sometimes with 1 feed, sometimes straight through. During the day usually 2 naps of 1 hour and a few catnaps. Not big 2 hour chunks that's fo sho.

curly/fanny How did your two get on last night following their big day?

Must dash - the bottle monster is stirring and making head motions - me to kitchen I think it is.

Cosmosis · 20/10/2010 10:06

alpie not started with them yet, am planning to in the next couple of weeks - wanted to get everything a bit more settled before I braved the washables! But yes, my friends who use washables all say you need to use bigger clothes as washables are bulkier than sposies.

Artie seems to hate swaddling. mind you he seems to hate any method of sleeping other than upright on one of our chests, or on his side being cuddled by me in bed.

CUNextTuesday · 20/10/2010 10:08

He only sleeps 11-12 at night ski? You must be hanging!!

AlpinePony · 20/10/2010 10:35

Ya ya cunty. Wink

Cossie Word of warning, Artie may be wee, but they are very sly. e.g., put all the dirty nappies in the washing machine, baby does ginopoo! Hmm

OkieCokie · 20/10/2010 15:13

Glad the interview went well Alpy, it sounds promising and to have a Starbucks there too sounds Ace company.

Right, Tens question. Did any of you lot use and it is worth it? I tried last time and got fucked off with it but perhaps didn't use it early enough. Views plz

PollyPoo · 20/10/2010 16:16

Well done on the interview Pone, hope you get it.

For those that are horsey gals - I have a friend who owns a livery yard/teaches/competes. She had her first baybee in August and I hadn't heard from her for bloody ages. I was beginning to get a bit worried, as nothing on facecrack, no responses to emails, texts, phonecalls etc. Finally got a text back a couple of weekends ago - she was not crying in a heap in a corner suffering with PND, but competing at national dressage championships in Wales. Where she came 5th (was 9th last year), 8 weeks after laying her baybee! I luffs her I do!

Backinthebox · 20/10/2010 16:17

I used a TENS first time and really liked it. You have to start with it before the contractions get too painful though. Also boosting it during a contraction gave me something to focus on. Didn't get chance to use one this time.

PollyPoo · 20/10/2010 16:42

Sorry Okes, that will teach me to refresh before posting. Not that I can be of much help... I hired a tens machine, packed it in hossie bag and forgot to use it. Idiot. I have heard you have to start early with them, like Boxy. Not sure if I'll get one this time, can't make my mind up.

CurlyCasper · 20/10/2010 16:42

bloody hell poo, I am well impressed by your mate.

Sorry, no idea about Tens.

sorry about Welly cos. ((()))

alps we had a good night, thanks, which was not expected.

Is is normal to be utterly terrified about returning to work five months before the event? Just the thought makes my stomach turn and my eyes leak. Sad

Cosmosis · 20/10/2010 16:58

I cant bear to think about it curls and am currently persuading myself I wont be going back due to lottery win.

CluckyKate · 20/10/2010 20:11

Sorry to hear about the fluffy one Cos

Glad the job chat went well Ponio ....we has Starbucks at our place, is ace but costs a fortune to keep me in lattes. Keeping fingers crossed for you though.

Tens machine was brilliant for me last time Okes - eventually got to the point where it was making the pain worse but that was after about 4 hours and on the top setting!!! Not sure whether to get one for this time as not compatible with Hippo relaxation thing.

Any of you thinking safety yet??? AIBU to think these laydees are going a leetle bit over the top [hhmm]

OkieCokie · 20/10/2010 20:46

Cos sorry to hear about puss in boots. My 2 are my precious babies despite them not getting as much attention from me as they used to. I feel for you I do.

Thanks for Tens advise. Cunty hippo birthing specialist - did you use one?

AlpinePony · 21/10/2010 09:08

Thank you Kate. :) Safety? Oh right. Putting the gin on the top shelf type stuff? Obviously I want more for my job than access to American coffee. Wink

I am very disappointed. Due to a monumental fuck up with the horsebox I am not going to the seaside with my 'oss this weekend. :( Me and the girl I was supposed to be sharing a trailer with have been totally fucked over by some idiot and basically the up-shot is that now we can't go. Unless the orses grow wings. :( Am gutted - wanted to swim with my 'orse in the north sea. I've been looking forward to this since the middle of July and although I was very anxious about leaving Bear for 72 hours and going away with a few who get right on my tits - I thought it'd be worth it for the experience. Now I have to spend the weekend with my baybee & fiance. Hmmmph.

Cossie How did it go at the vets last night?

polly Your friend sounds brilliant! Massive congratulations to her - I trust she was wearing dressage knickers though (big pants with a built in fanny pad).

PollyPoo · 21/10/2010 09:30

Blimmin 'eck, do people really buy all that safety stuff? Maybe I've been blessed, but I've found a firm 'NO' followed by distraction works brilliantly. TG's nephew (son of she of the cunt-kicking) is a nightmare. By that I mean he is into everything he shouldn't, climbing/falling/generally damaging himself and generally ignoring his parents etc. But then again SIL has no control or any idea about discipline - apparently that is the job of the childminder, along with things like potty training. Hmm

Anyway, as we are on the subject of SIL... When her DS was about 9 months old they were here for Boo's 2nd birthday and he fell over and really whacked himself on the head. There were collective sharp intakes of breaths from around the room and he started to cry. SIL and BIL then ignored him and told everyone else to do the same. We weren't even allowed to look at him. Poor chap looked a bit confused and upset and eventually stopped crying. Apparently, boys are not allowed to cry and they wanted to 'toughen him up'. No-one else said anything but I was pretty Shock. As we have a lot FESH boys, can I ask what you as mothers think about boys and crying? I can't say I'd given it any thought at all until then but I'd like to think I'd encourage children of both sexes to express themselves and not lock in emotions. Am I over-thinking this? Perhaps I will end up with a gay son because I will 'molly coddle' him too much? Hmm

What a shame about your weekend Alpro, what a disappointment. And to find out only a day before really sucks. Angry Any news on job yet? Do they say when you'd hear? I'm not sure about horsey pals pants, but I'm seeing her next week so will be sure to check!

Cos I'm so sorry to hear about Welly. Sad What happened with the vets?

PollyPoo · 21/10/2010 09:32

Complete spelling and grammar fail in last post. Apologies. Blush

CUNextTuesday · 21/10/2010 09:44

I'm hoping that Rastus won't be stopped from crying, but Hom is a man's man (whatever that means) and I fear the worst.

On a similar note, went to yummy mummy club on Tuesday and Rastus and another little boy accidentally ended up holding hands on the play mat. His mum and me both looked at each other in horror and said 'oh god don't tell his dad' Grin Grin

OkieCokie · 21/10/2010 10:05

Mini C is allowed to cry as much as he likes and he gets a cuddle when he hurts himself. I can tell if it warrants attention when he really has whacked himself or if it is a cry for attention in which case he is told to stop being a baby. However several things at nursery have lefts me feeling a bit Hmm including:

  • Walking around with a pink fluffy handbag on his arm
  • Pushing around a little pink pushchair (they have since been out and bought blue ones for the boys!)
  • coming home dressed as a girl which looks very weird (this apparently was because he had so much fun with "messy play" he went through all his spare clothes and they had no emergency boy clothes left)

However, he instinctively prefers trucks and cars to dolls so I am not worrying too much.

Alpy sorry to hear your weekend plans are up shit creek. Make the BF treat you to something nice instead to make up for it.

Cos wellie news plz

Cosmosis · 21/10/2010 10:10

Vets is tonight, so we'll see. He's a much happier boy now that he's being fed on feline crack pouches not boggo tinned food. And he has a nice nest we have made him next to Arties change mat which is where he has chosen to hide.

Bugger re the horse box alpie I know how much you were looking forward to it.

6 wk check for me today. And we're off for a free trial Gymborree session as well. The excitement!!
