New Fred. Apologies for dullness of title - we need curly for witticisms.

bit drastic...

SilverSky · 29/09/2010 17:19

I can honestly say I have not missed the droid one bit and have probably saved a fricking fortune on sanitary items during this pregnancy. Tho I think we should get that kind of stuff on the NHS!!!

Curlysue pleased to hear you have made some buddies. Like you once baybee is here and I am mobile again, I hope to be out stalking making new pals with mums who also have young baybees. Hopefully they will be the type that enjoy a gin fizz or two.

Its amazing how I am managing to fill my days with places to go and people to see. I am making the most of my freedom.

Despite my attack of insomnia, so nice to finally go back to sleep at about 530 and wake up naturally at around 915!!! Bliss.

Hope all the FESH's and sproggles are thriving.

CUNextTuesday · 29/09/2010 17:28

not on NHS perhaps but deffo should be VAT-free Sad that's a scandal - like they're a luxury!

FannyPriceless · 29/09/2010 17:46

I agree cunty. Even the most crazed Jaffa cake addict would have to concede on the question of which of these is an essential, non-luxury item: jaffa cakes or tampons?AngryHmm

No droid here and nearly 4 months gone... long may it stay away.

Curls That is brilliant about the BESH-likes at the mummy group. I am so hoping I'll be able to make some new friends when we move so I'm going to throw myself into the group scene then. There are definitely some at the post natal group I'm going to here, but we're moving so it's kind of bittersweet.

mountainmule I like the name.Wink

CUNextTuesday · 29/09/2010 18:06

perhaps Jaffa cakes are the answer then...

organiccarrotcake · 29/09/2010 21:51

Comma on a nursing strike. Frustrating and scary.

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 00:31

Twinkle?!

rots is Comma poorly or is nursing strike common?

Insomnia again! Got lot on my mind. Horses mainly.

Sharer's first time in sade for 2.5 weeks and take hoss on 90min hack!!! At the time when mentioned it didn't click. Plus went out with mega fit hoss. So my hoss being willing in mind and body happy to go with the flow. But prob not the most sensible first ride. ESP as was humid and nag has winter coat and took virtually same amount of time to dry off. Dilemma: do I say something or not bother? HI reckons say something after the next time she goes away and comes back as no point saying owt now however I feel I need to. Am totally struggling with not being in control and my mind is running amok. Someone talk some sense into me before I drive my self nuts.

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 00:32

sade saddle.

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 07:50

If she dries the horse off and/or pays for clipping let her do it - just make sure she knows the terms. No damp horses put away. Also, no suing if she ends up face down in a ditch. If she's giving you money I'm not sure you can dictate how every minute is spent.

How are things this morning rots?

Bear slept through until gone 8 so now I'm running late tsk! Wink

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 08:15

Alpine tis you!

The thing is, she is a novice, has a good heart but not much horse knowledge, the REAL basics, hence why if I don't say when things are not on she'll just carry on til and I have to put the nag's welfare first. Also she'd be mortified if an injury occurred cos of her lack of knowledge.

Usually I wouldnt be at all bothered where she goes or for how long but as hoss hadn't been ridden for awhile and hoss is no spring chicken it would have been fairer on the hoss to be eased back in to things. She just needs bit of guidance, cos that 90min hack involved LOTS of trotting (prob on roads too as the actual ride is a long one and the time took was quite quick!) and a good blast and being as it was humid and presence of thick coat I think she should have given it some thought, esp as other nag she rode out with is pinging competition fit and wouldn't have even had a work out. She knows that no rug on damp horse and that if she comes a cropper at any time then its no come back on me, hence she has her own rider insurance.

TBH I already feel better about the whole situ, but just getting off my chest on here.

Good to hear Bear is sleeping well.

Today I will mostly be waiting for a delivery and on the net getting chores done whilst I wait.

organiccarrotcake · 30/09/2010 09:34

Morning all. Comma had some good feeds last night and fed as normal overnight (every 2 hours - hence co-sleeping!). Seems perky this morning phew. silvie I honestly don't know if it's common - but it was horrible :( He was screaming with hunger and desperate to go on but would latch and scream and pull backwards (usually clamping mouth shut on nipple - ouch). I honestly think it's the dairy thing which has made him feel really rotten. So back to the diet I've gone.

Just reading "The Politics of Birth" by Sheila Kitzinger and have got to the water birth section. Fascinating read. She discusses two water birth "deaths" - both unattended births - one where the baby was born in the membranes and the parents didn't know they had to break them (well that baby would have died in a land birth of course), and the other where the parents decided to give the baby as gentle a transition from womb to air as possible - and held it under water for 20 minutes :( :( :(

But the interesting thing is that stories like these have been used to discuss the safety of waterbirth - which just goes show how obstetric statistics - like all statistics - are damned lies and videotape, depending on the desired outcome of the statistic user. :(

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 09:39

curly I'm so glad you've found some good BESH types to hang out with! Grin What a huge relief and here comes your new social life/bitch sessions!

silver You're always rushing around so a day ont' interweb sounds ideal!

rots I think that's about right wrt statistics - they can be manipulated just about any which way to suit the intended message. :( E.g., today there's an article in the Heil about ff resulting in obesity. BF has been pushed strongly here for well over a decade - yet a cursory glance around the local swimming pool reveals fat kids. Maybe only FF kids can swim? Wink In addition to the old BF arguments - only a handful of studies have been conducted in the US - compared to dozens for "erectile dysfunction". Priorities innit. Common sense needs to be applied for all - 20 minutes under water? :(

My parents arrive on Monday and it's already stressing me out. :( I'm very tempted to refuse a subsequent visit but this is the first time my dad gets to see Bear and I think he deserves this.

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 09:42

Cripes rots that's scared the crap outta me.

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 09:46

I know this sounds really petty but m&d are refusing to let me get a (small) Tesco delivery sent to their place with things like squash, bakewells, caneston etc. I thought if I got it delivered it would save them "bother". They say "car is too full" - OK, I know there's a NZ rug in there, a sheepskin numnah and a bunch of stuff from ebay but seriously? Hmm They moved from Scotland to England in a FUCKING MINI WITH ME AND MY SISTER IN THE BACK! Hmm

Backinthebox · 30/09/2010 10:16

Alpy what on earth else have they got in there? Surely there is room for a little carrier bag? If not, maybe they could just leave your mum behind?

Rots poor babies! Sad And hope Comma is feeling more like food today.

Silver have read and understood. See you over there!

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 10:20

Order the stuff anyway, they are not going to turn the van driver away or the cash you have spent on the goods.

I may attempt some baking later. Tho really I should redress the Moses basket. I am not bothering with cleaning the actual wicker part - that is ridiculous. I've done the mattress and the sheets for the mattress.

Today I may need a nap after my extreme bout of insomnia last night. The only bonus about that was I did not need to get up to pee, cos I WAS ALREADY BLOODY AWAKE. Tis my own fault as have over active imagination.

Do any you gals have slings???? I know I have asked before. I think I will get a lot of use out of one what with the k9 and equine. Have seen the Babasling one and Moby online. Reviews say the Babasling is no good if you have maximus bustage and that the one shoulder design is a killer. Perhaps I will leave it nearer the time baby is due so that if my final decision (in the year 20billion) is wrong I have time to send it back.

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 10:34

haha boxer that would actually be the best solution... may suggest it! Grin I really don't fucking know what the problem is. The stuff I got from ebay is clothes for me and him, so what I would do is stuff it in to binliners and jam it in the footwells behind the front seats... horse stuff again is squashable. FFS. Apparently they're going via cardiff though to drop off the elderly sheepdog with my sister. Maybe the dog has grown and needs lots of space. Hmm They're not the types to bring large suitcases either.

silver I daren't do that - there have already been snide remarks about his/ginger's stuff. :( I'm using this www.baby-dump.nl/index.php?page=product&id=2940&groep_id=431&merk=497 - fits over my current 40FF chest (with room to spare) AND is bloody excellent for dog walking.

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 10:59

Btw - are any of you exercising at all? I'm finding that lunges are ripping my lower abdomen to bits. :( I hate lunges anyway and perhaps it's partially psychosomatic... but it's not good. Am thinking I ought to do a Pilates class to work on my core. Any thoughts?

Backinthebox · 30/09/2010 11:12

Silver I have a ring sling - hated it, going on Ebay, a fleece Coorie - will be useful for winter, a green paisley Hotsling, and several babyhawks. I am hoping DS is happy to go in a Babyhawk soon, as I get on with them best. DD was in them from the age of 10 weeks till 2.6 years. Not continuously, obviously! I also found a Little Life frame carrier to be good for putting DD in when leading things about - kept her nice and high up out of the way.

Cosmosis · 30/09/2010 11:13

I have to whisper to those of you moaning about spending money on sanitary goods. Takes a couple of months to get used to, but is great when you do, honestly.

The boy has really nasty looking baby acne :( tis not bothering him at all, but it's bothering me!

alpie that is TGO's sister, not mine Grin

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 11:16

I'm also a mooncup gal. Grin

cossie Bear had it too - I think most of them did - Squeaker I know did and I think iggy's too. However it's all been good for about a month - the odd pimple now but not Kevin & Perry'esque!

Backinthebox · 30/09/2010 11:16

I was going to say Mooncup too. Am a bit worried mine might fall straight back out though when I need one again. MW has given me stickers to stick on everything to remind me to do pelvic floor exercises. She also gave me the go-ahead to get back riding again! Hurray! On something that will be guaranteed not to bounce me around - so that's the racehorse and Clucky's horse out. Confused

SilverSky · 30/09/2010 11:55

I am not so sure I'd get the hang of a mooncup. Tho loving the financial side of it.

Is it too early for lunch?

Will look at those slings! Ta for the reco's. How soon did you start using them?

Box my nag won't bounce ya!!

Putting the linen back on the Moses Basket was like something out of the fricking Krypton Factor. Sheesh. Talk about brain drain.

I am not settling back to watch My Family's Crazy Gap Year.

OkieCokie · 30/09/2010 12:48

I had never even heard of mooncups til I met MN. I will give it a go although I do have visions of it pinging out around the loo and covering bathroom in a Carrie-esque style way - urgh grim!

AlpinePony · 30/09/2010 12:57

I did indeed have a Carrie moment with mine. :( I was running late for work, ran in to my beautifully white large (important) bathroom. Tried to multi-task as I ran and the slippery little fecker flew from my fingers... Hit the wall - splooshed EVERYWHERE. :( Charles Manson sent me a congratulatory note.
