Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

Katster I?ll be joining you as mum to two boys! Grin Imagining our family in the future with two little rascals makes me very happy, although I have to admit a part of me is a little disappointed it?s not a girl! Is it normal to be delighted and disappointed at the same time?! We do hope to have three so the girl might come along yet. I know I will love having boys but part of me feels like I?d like to have both. DH still doesn?t want to know, despite me bursting to tell him, and it is proving very difficult! I want to refer to the baby as ?him? now but I need to continue with ?it?. I wonder how long I can keep this going...

I was talking to my mum today about Ethan while we were out at the scan. His walking is really good, walking much more than crawling now, and he?s been sleeping through for months, but speaking seems to be lagging behind some of your little ones. I asked him where he put mummy?s phone the other day, and he went to find it and brought it to me. I also asked him one day if he wanted a yogurt and he walked into the kitchen and started hitting the fridge door. The comprehension is there but words are few and far between. Mum said that?s typical of boys. I just don?t want to reach a stage where he gets frustrated because he?s telling us things we don?t understand as I know that leads to tantrums. Has anyone done any baby signing? Wondering if it?s worthwhile now.

Oops MsI, cross-posted! Smile

tigger32 · 05/01/2011 18:47

Yay congratulations Ursi

DWB wow another boy! Maybe you'll BBL and me as a mum of 3 boys!!!

Sirboob Glad you are settling in well in your new home.

Scarlotti not had chance to look at the house keeping thread you posted is it fly lady? If so I've done that a couple of times and it really did help me to get sorted, I'm still doing a bit of it but I've not posted for ages.

Still no sleep here and those of you on fb may have seen I was so tired that I fell asleep feeding H and let him fall out of our quite high bed! He seems fine but I was upset and cross with myself. He already has a bruise under his eye from where he hit himself with a wooden block!

DontWorryBaby · 05/01/2011 18:57

Tigger I'd forgotten you had three boys as well, I remembered BBL had three boys. Funnily enough, I was talking to my mum about your three boys today, going through name options! Placenta brain strikes again.

It could well happen - my mum had three boys (luckily I was a twin sister of one of them) and DH is one of three boys. I know DH's family are keen to have a girl so I hope they don't voice any disappointment at another boy!

katster37 · 05/01/2011 19:46

DWB Yaaaaay, I am so happy for you Smile I felt exactly the same - I was thrilled at the thought of another gorgeous little boy, but slightly disappointed that I wouldn't be having a girl. Now though, I am so so so excited, especially as I know how ace little boys are, and I can just imagine us all running round, and Sam being a lovely big brother. I think boys generally get a bad press. All my friends are having girls and seem to think that is better! I think the clothes are the only real difference. Plus, I really want three and I don't think DH would have agreed if we'd ended up with one of each. You are doing so well not telling DH! I wouldn't have been able to contain it! Also on the subject of Ethan - Sam is v similar - he's been walking for 3 or 4 months now, and definitely understands a lot - I was saying the other day 'where is Sam's drink?' and he went and go it. He can say 'der' for 'there' and shouts 'mama' and 'dada' and 'ello' but that is about it. I don't think he will get frustrated, he is obviously making himself understood and the next step is speech. I wouldn't worry. It is still v early for speech.

Had MW appointment today, baby is head down which is good. Registered with the new MW in Yorkshire, seems to be all systems go..... eeeek!
URsi how are you feeling?

Tigger I can imagine I will be a 3 boy mummy too Smile

Fruitpastels · 05/01/2011 19:57

Lovely news DWB!! Just think how much cheaper it wil be with clothes and toys. I'm mum to 2 boys and they are wonderful together and look forward to seeing them grow to be the best of friends - hopefully Smile. Don't worry about the speech. Yes I do think it's a boy thing. It will come with a bit of time. Still very early days. Ethan is doing well with being an early crawler/walker. My DS1 was walking at 1yr and using 2-3 words very early on. He was miles ahead of most toddlers his age. It turns out that his speech slowed down but was doing puzzles way ahead of his age. He is a bright button but still struggles now with speech but getting there. DS2 is slower with the physical stuff but much more vocal and seems just as bright as his big bro. It's hard to tell how they will progress as they change so quickly. I'm sure you are talking to Ethan all the time. And that's the key to helping them along the way.

Tigger It was me that posted the thread. Yes it fly lady. I'm already finding the small changes i've made a huge help. Not sure how long i can keep it going for. I will try my best! Sorry to hear about the no sleep and the fall. It happens to most mums with them falling off the bed. It's happened to me too. No harm done. I am shattered and I feel like a broken record. At least we know we're not alone with the problem Smile

Fruitpastels · 05/01/2011 19:59

Katster I agree. Boys are ace! Glad to hear baby is head down. Not long now for you!! And, if I went for a 3rd DC, I'm sure it would be a boy too.

DontWorryBaby · 05/01/2011 20:13

Apparently, if you have one boy you're more likely to have a second boy and if you have two, even more likely to have a third boy. And vice versa. The odd thing is, my brothers' wives have all had two girls or two boys at first so this baby will complete the pattern. My eldest brother has two girls, I'll have two boys, middle brother has two boys and a girl, youngest brother two girls and a boy. Tenth grandchild for my parents.

Thanks for the advice on the speech. I'm not worried, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something I should be doing, IYKWIM. Covering all bases.

ursigurke · 05/01/2011 20:19

Thanks for all the lovely wishes.
I'm doing fine, don't really have any symptoms yet but I'm only 5 weeks. Sometimes I feel my belly expanding already. Really strange. I guess all the food over christmas didn't help. My mum has actually asked me if "I was still doing my exercises". Apparently my belly is too big for her taste. Hmm

I am really exhausted though as Paula is really demanding at the moment (because of her cold) and only wants to be with me, ideally being carried. This evening I feel a bit of pain in my lower abdomen. I guess second pregnancies are always a bit harder as you have a full time job as mum already and no time to relax. But maybe there is less time to focus on the symptoms as well.

DontWorryBaby · 05/01/2011 20:22

Ursi the first indication to me that I was pregnant again was feeling like I'd pulled a muscle in my tummy when I sneezed! Things definitely loosen and start to move very early on so it may well be that you are, how do the books put it, "thickening at the waist"? Grin

Fruitpastels · 05/01/2011 20:33

Ursi My BF is also pg and in the early weeks. She also has felt the pains too. I remember them very well. Hope you get some good rest tonight. C is also clingy lately. Teething has a lot to answer for! DWB Has Ethan cut anymore teeth? I think both our DS' were the last of the babies to cut their first tooth.

DontWorryBaby · 05/01/2011 20:40

Ethan has his bottom two and the top right. I thought his gums were bothering him earlier so maybe more are on their way but, touch wood, they've arrived fairly easily so far!

tigger32 · 05/01/2011 21:42

Sorry Fruits! Glad it is working for you, I may come over and join you.

I agree that boys are fab, I love watching my 3 little men playing and giggling and it's true that having all the same sex is cheaper, i've reused lots of clothes and my playroom is full of toys that suit all and have been passed down. Saying that I would still have been happy if I'd had a girl as number 2 or 3. Not sure I'd like a girl now though as I'm not sure she would fit in without being spoilt! Grin

On the teeth front, H got his 1st 4 teeth in august followed by 2 more in sept then nothing more until just before Xmas when I found 1 at the top right at the back which seems odd, anyone else had this? Since then 2 more front bottom have appeared.

MsInterpret · 05/01/2011 22:29

Hey, how exciting DWB! Congrats once again :)
I'd echo what katster et al said about not worrying about the speech thing - his comprehension is obviously very very good and it still very early. My friend told me that she read sometimes first borns speak later as they have all their needs met so easily and their mummies understand them so quickly whereas younger siblings must shout to be heard!

Rosa is walking! Does 3-5 steps between mummy and daddy count as walking?! Blush It has been one hand firmly gripped onto ours til now so it is exciting nonetheless. By coincidence I went to get her first shoes today, mainly to allow her to toddle around outside when it's wet and to keep her toes warm on the back of the bike! I also got her a proper winter duffle coat. It is so cute. Rosa Red Riding Hood.

Poor you ursi with a sick and demanding baby and early preg symptoms. Rosa is being very clingy at the moment. I read also that separation anxiety can heighten when they develop a new skill i.e. walking...Great.

Tigger. We have had sporadic teeth appearances too. Current count 7 but all in the front middle-ish. 2 at the bottom first to come through then sat there alone for ages. Four more have developed across the top and then finally a third popped up at the bottom at the side of middle. No sign of the one for the other side though. Teeth are weird aren;t they. I've had fallen-out ones been thrust at me today at school as back to work. They're still teeny even when on a seven year old!

DontWorryBaby · 06/01/2011 14:13

Afternoon all!

Just taking a wee break from work. I've been looking at the DWP website and their benefits calculator as I need to look into options for returning to work part-time or not at all after baby number 2 is here. My goodness, it is so complicated! I think the working tax credits might be the decider for us but it's not very straightforward at all. Hmm

My younger cousin was admitted to hospital yesterday, I think she is just under 25 weeks pregnant and has pre eclampsia. Placenta looks too big in the scans. Hope everything works out ok. I don't know much about pre eclampsia but from what I have found online, it seems that there are different severities. I just hope they can maintain the pregnancy long enough as it's obviously too early just now to deliver. Thinking positive thoughts.

MsI That definitely counts! Clever girl! Ethan is in his third pair of shoes, I'd gone for the crawlers (size 3) then cruisers (size 4) and now walkers from Clarks and he is now a size 5, which I understand is pretty big for 13 months! I think he's going to be tall though so I'm not too bothered. Just hope he isn't a 6 the next time we have him measured!

Right, back to work... sigh!

katster37 · 06/01/2011 17:19

DWB Sam is a 4 and a half F, which I believe is pretty big too! And I am sure they seem a bit small.... At £30 a time, I hope he doesn't need a new pair every month....

Go Rosa!! Definitely counts!! Sam is being quite clingy at the minute too. I met a friend for coffee (who he knows v well) and he howled the whole 45 seconds I was in the loo...

We have sporadic teeth too, the order is quite odd - we now have 4 top front and 4 bottom front, and one really far back one with a big gap in between! The back one took some getting here, it was not fun. I am dreading the other molars arriving...

Boxes have finally arrived so we can start packing - got 24 hours in which time I also have to go to the estate agent, pick up some things from S's nursery, go to work for a 'leaving tea party', get S's immunisations, go to the dentist and go to a hospital appointment. Yeah, I'm sure it'll all get done Hmm

DontWorryBaby · 06/01/2011 18:36

Ethan is a 5G! And has been since beginning of dec I think.

I slipped up and DH now knows it's a boy. His first reaction was "I didn't want another boy" not "I didn't want to know". He'll warm to it, I'm sure. My friend told me today she is having a boy and I came home from work and said: Erin's having a little boy as well! DOH! 24 hours. That's quite embarrassing actually! Blush

scarlotti · 06/01/2011 20:14

DWB ah, never mind! At least now your DH gets to get used to the idea of another boy. That was how I felt for all of 15 minutes when I found out Ioan was a boy. Then the thought of two boys playing together kicked in and I was pleased. It's nice to know too, you bond in a different way I think.

Got Ioan's first pair of shoes today - 3G! Following his brother with small feet.. they were in the sale at Clarks too so only £6 Grin although he has managed to pull them off so not entirely sure they're the right size. Am hoping they'll give him some traction as he's started to seem interested in pulling himself up, although I don't think his legs can bear the weight of his body .. and his head which still weighs a ton!!

Two lots of jabs to catch up on here, dreading it as he's only just well and I'd like to have a happy boy for a bit tbh.

As for teeth, we have 5 or 6 at the front but am sure some bigger ones are moving about given the struggle he's had over the last week or so.

MsInterpret · 06/01/2011 20:17

Oh DWB... That is one embarrassing slip-up! You doughnut!

Rosa is a 4F apparently. No idea what the difference between the sizes is but it can't be that much if Ethan's gone through them that quickly. Or maybe he's just been eating his weetabix! Managed to get some cruisers for £8 in the sale, was quite pleased with that little bargain esp as the real shoes are £30! Shock

Rosa's toddling is funny, She will only do it if she can collapse onto me or daddy at the end. We play a game where I plonk her down and leave her standing while I sit back on the sofa. She chortles like made as I pin her hands to her sides and steady her saying 'Wait for it...wait for it...!' Now I just have to say 'let's play Wait For It' in that tone and she's a giggling mess Grin

£6 Scarlotti? I was robbed!

OP posts:
katster37 · 07/01/2011 07:24

Scarlotti and MsI - no way - £6 and £8?!?! There was only a choice of two pairs at the Clark's we went to, and they were £30!! I am going to keep Sam's toenails nice and short and possibly bind his feet at this price! Grin

DWB oh dear... How is DH today? I'm sure he'll get used to the idea! We weren't planning on finding out, but the dangly thing between the legs was a giveaway. DH wasn't there and was a bit surprised when I rang him from the hospital - he said "was everything ok?" And I replied "Yes, it's got a willy" I thought he really wanted a girl but he was excited. I'm sure your DH will be soon too. Is it because he thinks you'll want to have a third?! I bet they'll both be totally different anwyay. We were looking at the scan photos from both 22 week scans last night, and their faces don't look anything like! I know you can't really tell from a scan photo, but in my head they are v different boys. I think this one is more laid back (and sleeps 11 hours a night - think positive, think positive....)!

DontWorryBaby · 07/01/2011 08:30

Katster He's ok. He's happy to have two boys but not so keen on the idea of three boys... Possibly because he is one of three boys, I'm not sure! I'll leave him a year or so then start working on him. I definitely want a third at the moment but would wait longer this time and our thoughts might change. I was actually spotting resemblances in our scan pics. The sonographer showed us the mouth as she was checking for a cleft lip and it is just like ethan's. We'll find out soon enough how alike they are! How has your 24hr to do list gone? I'm having a bad morning, due at hygienist at 8:35 but had a puncture and it's -7 which is also causing train delays. Going to be late I think!

SirBoobAlot · 07/01/2011 11:21

Ursi congrats :)

DWB another boy, how exciting!

Katster can't believe you're due so soon.

MissI certainly counts, clever girl!!

Bryn is walking on handed - his balance is very good, but its confidence more than anything. His feet haven't grown since we bought his first pair of shoes in July - he's a 2 1/2 F. Have been getting him messured quite often, but no change. Quite greatful for that Grin

ursigurke · 07/01/2011 12:49

DWB, 24 hours of keeping your secret? Well, at least it's done Wink

katster, I hope you got everything done!

Wow on some of these big feets. I think Paula is a 3. I bought her proper winter boots when we were in Vienna last november. Luckily, as there have already been many opportunities to walk in snow and they were around 50GBP!!! But there wouldn't have been any cheaper ones. I insisted on a neutral colour as I really want to make sure that the next child can wear them too.

DontWorryBaby · 07/01/2011 13:32

Yes, 24 hours, I know I know!! It was a genuine accident though. I couldn't believe it when I realised what I had said!

Ursi can you not be persuaded to join facebook? It would be good to have you on there! And anyone else who isn't on yet?

Re the big feet, it's odd that Ethan seems to have the biggest feet yet he only has 3 teeth! Fast to develop in some ways and slow in others. Bear
