Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

oo lemontop how exciting!!

Happy [proper] birthday Lucy! Are you doing anything to celebrate today, ninja?

Feels like we're at a plateau right now in development. The new skills seem to come in bunches, do you ladies find that? I think we're due for another bunch here soon. Maeve is doing lots of cruising but seems scared to stand on her own (tho I know she can do it, I've seen her!) which I imagine is the precursor to walking. Not in a hurry, mind you! But I am half-hoping she does some new things while we're back east visiting DH's family over Christmas. They don't get to see M very often and it'd be nice for them to see something "first" for once, before my parents do. (That sounds so petty, I know, but I have a feeling grandparents care about these things, even if they won't admit it.)

Hope everyone is staying warm xx

Thanks, birthday went fine. Had a lovely day with two grandmas, granddad and uncle and aunt. Mama fed everybody with fish pie and birthday cake and Lucy provided entertainment with giggles and dancing Lucy-style.

Lemontop Wow!!

GrizzlyMacDuff · 09/12/2010 20:42

happy birthday too all the babies i have missed, sorry been slack and not come on each time as I always intend to. Busy doing xmas school related stuff, dealing with projectile vomiting baby, bed wetting 4yo and other Fun Stuff.

scarlotti · 09/12/2010 21:33

Hi all

We have a few words here, definitely 'teddy' which he now says every time we walk into his room and he spies the teddy on the side - so cute! Am also loving the cuddles and pats on the neck, proper affection that comes from him of his own volition - makes it all worthwhile!

Sums aren't adding up as sadly it would be about a 20% pay cut which I just can't do. Still, am going to take it as a compliment and we will just see what the future holds. I've been extended for another 6 months which is great so am now sorted until June. Am thinking I might up my days to 4 a week so I can put something by - maybe then if the offer came up again in a year's time I could afford to take it..? Who knows!

longwayaway · 09/12/2010 21:56

oops I meant skorpion of course Blush Blush Blush glad it was a fun birthday!

scarlotti · 09/12/2010 22:49

skorpion meant to wish Lucy a happy birthday too Blush .. also, keep meaning to ask if you stuck with that oil cleansing method? If so, does it work?

DontWorryBaby · 10/12/2010 09:19

Happy Birthday to Lucy for yesterday! Last November baby birthday is today - Sassmonkey's Tristan. Wow - what a year! The pregnant hormonal woman is feeling quite emotional thinking about everything we've shared. Long may it continue! Grin

MsILTOEandWine · 10/12/2010 15:27

Happy birthday to Lucy for yesterday!

skorpion · 10/12/2010 20:01

Hear hear DWB!

Scarlotti nope, I get too distracted with new cleansing products and prefer a proper scrub... I have to say this cold weather and central heating overdose make my skin awful - dry, scaly, peeling nose and greasy forehead. Yuk! I may go back to OCM.

Thanks again for birthday wishes. And happy birthday Tristan!

MsILTOEandWine · 10/12/2010 20:57

Happy birthday Ethan too!

Oh by the way, this is MsInterpret...attempt at a Christmassy name not really working. Back to the drawing board!

DontWorryBaby · 10/12/2010 21:31

Has anyone had a health visitor check up since the babies are turning one? Does that usually happen?

The reason why I'm asking is that I've got two missed calls on my mobile & home phones this evening from an nhs number, no message left. Had my 15wk blood tests last Friday and I'm trying to convince myself the calls are about something else. Will try the midwives again tomorrow morning but I'm not sure I'll get them before Monday.

scarlotti · 10/12/2010 22:41

I had a one year check for Ioan, HV came to the house and did weight and height, and checked various things to see what stage he was at. Standard thing I'm told so you'll be having them contact you for that.

What jabs are they supposed to have now? He missed his Hib booster as he was ill and I keep forgetting to rearrange - but there's the MMR too at some point..? [crap mummy emoticon]

DontWorryBaby · 10/12/2010 22:49

Um... 12 mth was hib/men I think and 13mth mmr.

GrizzlyMacDuff · 11/12/2010 07:27

Belated Happy birthday Lucy! and also happy birthday to Anyone else I have missed.

Congratulations to all our lovely November babies and mummies. You are all amazing women and I am very proud to 'know' you all!

I feel like I am falling in love with my little Roo all over again. He pulled his little 'bike' into the middle of the front room a moment ago and got on it, rocking back and forward to get me to push him, just sat there all grown up. And now he is sat watching cbeebies with his sister, holding onto a car which will now be Toy of the Day. He has his daily favourites and when in his mits we can't prise it out again. He kisses me and actively puts his arms around me for snuggly cuddles now, not passive any more, and it just melts me every time. I am sat here with DD next to me sniffing as she has a cold, legs resting on me, Roo sat on the floor next to her, and despite getting up at 5:30am with them I realise I am the luckiest person I know.

Roo is saying words, a few, and probably nonsense to everyone else! He says 'booboo' or 'beebee' for boobies and he says it with this little cute laugh and charming smile Grin, 'Bayee' for Bella, and I am certain he says 'Roo Roo' he also knows teeth 'teese' and points to them (said in a whisper) and eyes - 'ayce' Grin and the first word he learnt, which he has known for a long time is, of course 'eat' or more precisely 'eeeeeeeeeeat! eeeeeeeeeat!' He tries to sing 'twinkle little star' and hold his hands in a very vague attempt at doing the star action, or claps while doing it!

We missed his 12 month check up but have no concerns so not too bothered, but also missed his jabs Blush so got to go next week. Poor thing, 3 of them is not nice! At least he won't remember them.

ursigurke · 11/12/2010 14:47

DWB, did you find out already what the call was about? I'm sure it's only about a check up. Did you already have one? I think there is one around 1 year but in our case it was done earlier.

grizzly, Roo sounds very cute. I really like the fact that he is already doing the twinkle twinkle...
I don't think they will give him all the jabs in one go. I'm almost sure that I've read something about somewhere. I might be wrong though.
Paula remembered the 12 month on her 13 month. She cried before she even saw the needle. Just when I pulled her trousers down. Luckily she stopped quickly after.

DontWorryBaby · 11/12/2010 18:18

Haven't found out what the call was about. It wasn't the community midwives but they said test results would be dealt with by the hospital and if I don't hear from them om Monday, to phone the midwives and they'll chase it up for me. Could be something as simple as a mix up with my name changing due to getting married after my first appointment. Trying not to worry but easier said than done... And of course DH is neither up nor down. They have it so easy!

longwayaway · 11/12/2010 21:07

Ugh DWB what a nuisance. They should know better than to worry you like that.

Grizz I know what you mean, sometimes I look at M and think, She's a whole new baby! And my heart melts all over again.

Ursi At our one-year checkup (this is in the US) M got three jabs, 2 in one leg, 1 in the other AND a finger-prick test for iron levels! Poor LO! But she took it like a champ, didn't cry till the very last shot. Must be her extra chubby thighs.

GrizzlyMacDuff · 12/12/2010 10:41

ursi I am pretty certain it is 3 in one go, but may well hopefully am wrong. I will send DH in with him and I shall wait in the waiting room ready to feed him Wink coward that I am!

He is still not eating as much as he normally does after his projectile vomiting episodes earlier in the week and thus not sleeping brilliantly (did he ever?!) last night had some friends over so had some wine, therefore NOT impressed at being woken hourly due to him being hungry. Although maybe teething? he does have two new teeth next to his bottom two, maybe one is breaking the skin a bit more. Either way, I threatened to send him to the Wendy House in the garden if he carried on Blush.

DH gave me a 'lie-in' until 9:30am though and has taken the children out to a friends to pick up some holly so we can put our tree and decorations up today. Just a bit concerned that we have thrown our tree out, we considered it last year but can't remember ! I sort of hope so as I want a real one! We want to put the tree in the bay as normal, but think it will be too tempting for Roo (and B) so might have to move it.

Are any breastfeeding ladies considering stopping? I want to think about it soonish, but not sure how to go about it, he is still pretty keen to keep on going. DD stopped of her own accord at 10 months, Roo is showing no signs at all of wanting to!

longwayaway · 12/12/2010 15:31

Grizz am in the same boat with breastfeeding. I thought we'd wean when I got a job but that hasn't happened so neither has the weaning!

scarlotti · 12/12/2010 18:56

Pav/Grizz I stopped when he turned one. Just started giving cows milk at bedtime instead. We were already down to just morning, night and dream feed so easier to do. The early morning feed was sometimes the small hours (last night was 2am) but then he doesn't get anymore until breakfast, so it depends on whether something like teeth/cold etc. wakes him. Once he's been known to go to 6am - naturally that's never been repeated!

GrizzlyMacDuff · 12/12/2010 20:02

scarlotti did he cry when you offered cows milk instead of boob? DS screams the place down if he is not having mummy milk. When it is bedtime he is very clear as to what he wants and if he does not get it he is very upset. Am I going to have to just accept a few days of upset little boy?

GrizzlyMacDuff · 12/12/2010 20:04

oh he has, btw, morning/afternoon/bedtime feed, and the one at some point in the night (between midnight and 4am) although the last few days a bit more than that due to not eating because of this tummy bug. He will only take a bottle in the day while he is busy doing other stuff.

DontWorryBaby · 12/12/2010 20:07

Are you heating the cow's milk? Ethan refused it until we'd warmed it up a bit. We stopped breastfeeding a while ago tho so we were going from formula to cows milk.

GrizzlyMacDuff · 12/12/2010 20:08

yes we warm it he won't even take the bottle without it being very warm!

scarlotti · 12/12/2010 20:30

He had been having a bottle at 10pm since very early on, so didn't really resist it. I kept the rest of the routine exactly the same, even laying him in my arms in the bf position. I take the chill off it, rather than heat it as bm is only just warm. I also use tommee tippee closer to nature bottles, they are the nearest thing to nipples I can find!
If all that fails then I think you're just going to have to bear a few days of grumpy boy - sounds like he's a tenacious one!!
