Hello ladies, hope no one minds me taking the liberty of creating a new thread and approves of the name choice. We've been moving a bit slower than antenatal so though we'd most certainly have some year-olds by the time we finished this one!

Morning all,
Scarlotti Glad that you and your dd are getting some quality mum and daughter time. still love doing that kind of thing one on one with my mum, again sad that it had to get to this with your dh for you to be able to get a break though. Hope relate goes ok for you later and you manage to get everything out that you want you say to him.

On the crawling in sleep, not sure but think Annabelle still just sleeps wih bum stuck up in the air. Though my mother does complain that every time she stays with hem she sleep-talks all night. she was in the travel cot in their bedroom and it kept mum up all night so has had to put her in with ds, which is probably a good idea anyway. but I dont often hear her sleep-talking at home, unless I sleep through it.

Ursi Annabelle loves hugging her brother now, and stroking him, which also usually ends up in hair-pulling at which stage I prise him free and let her know she isn't to do it, she did the wobbly lower lip thing last night when she knew she was being told off.

We have all been ill this week which hasn't been fun, colds and fluishness all round, plus the weekend was a wash-out with everyone having to wait to hear what was going on with BIL as the big silly got arrested at 2 in the morning on saturday for fighting and being drunk. On the good side of my week I have made a new mummy friend as ds has made a new friend and they live down my road which is great.

katster37 · 25/11/2010 13:49

Hi all

Not been on for a while, just wanted to say hi to everyone.
Scarlotti, I hope things pick up with you and DH and the relate sessions are helping.

Laugs poor you with the 2.5 hour sessions in the night.... Sam had a (long) period of doing that too, and I used to snap and sometimes scream, I felt hysterical at times. I remember once feeling so irrationally angry. It was awful, not his fault bless. And I know what you mean about 'desperately trying to be calm'. I am not good at it! I hope things pick up.

It was S's birthday yesterday. He is full of cold/cough, but I think he had a nice day. Can't believe it is a year ago since he was born. Does anyone else find it all really emotional?

DWB you're doing so well for working full time. I am struggling with part time. Can't believe it's nearly your 20 w scan! Glad the morning sickness has gone. I had virtually none this time, after being terrible with Sam for virtually the whole thing! I am 25 weeks now. Eeeek!

DontWorryBaby · 25/11/2010 14:32

Katster I'm emotional thinking about Ethan turning one on Monday! Maybe it's the pregnancy hormones? I just find myself remembering the past year and my, what a year it has been!

How was your 20 week scan? Do you know what sex this baby is? x

katster37 · 25/11/2010 19:45

DWB yes maybe it's the hormones! We had a little party at my mum and dad's on Sunday and when everyone was singing Happy Birthday, Sam looked so over-awed by the candle, I could feel myself welling up... Really thought I was going to burst into tears in front of my entire family!

Yes the 20w scan was fine thanks, and it's a little boy!! I am ridiculously excited about having two little boys so close in age, I can't wait! Plus, if it had been a girl, it would have been just about impossible to persuade DH to have a third, and I have always wanted 3 children! Are you going to find out the sex? I think I was less bothered this time, for some reason. Maybe because I know how amazing little boys are. I think the first time, I was a bit scared because I am a girl! Daft, I know.

DontWorryBaby · 25/11/2010 20:11

I'd be delighted with another boy as well... It's funny how people assume everyone wants one of each! I love having a baby boy & 2 would just be perfect. But I would love a girl as well. We will find out, assuming baby is in the right position. I think DH might prefer a girl but he says he doesn't mind... Time will tell!

scarlotti · 25/11/2010 22:39

Two boys is fab, I lve watching mine together. Having a girl is great too though, although I didn't think that when shopping with DD earlier for a coat. Two hours later and still no coat Hmm

Bad night here last mohr, awake for hours as Ioan coughed and wheezed. Touch wood tonigt he seems better, doc gave us some asthma medicine for the wheezing and it seems to have helped. Didn't think he'd taken any as it's an odd contraption with a facemask, which he ws most unimpressed with!

Exciting about the scans, can't believe you're both halfway! Time has flown!

katster37 · 26/11/2010 11:14

Scarlotti we have coughing, wheezing and the facemask contraption too. Just been at the Dr's, anti-biotics and high temp...poor little thing. I think there are a lot of chesty things going about.

DWB everyone assumes you care with your second, don't they? It winds me up! Have you felt any movement yet?

katster37 · 26/11/2010 11:15

Duh, care about the sex that is. Not care full stop!

Fruitpastels · 26/11/2010 18:30

Hello ladies, not been on for a while. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Katster Lovely news Smile. 2 boys are great. I'm hoping my 2 DS' will be close as brothers and as friends. They are very sweet together. I'm not the kind of mum that dresses them the same (there is also 4 yrs age gap), but I couldn't resist their matching shirts for DS'1's birthday party. They looked adorable. I know what you mean though about being scared to have a girl. Not sure why. I look after 2 little girls and they are fantastic. I guess I find boys a little more straight forward.

Ursi Glad you had a lovely time away. Hope your sleep has improved.

Scarlotti Hope all is ok with you. Have you had your relate session this week?

Wishing all the sick babies better. My 2 are ill with colds and coughs. I've had cabin fever today.

Laugs · 26/11/2010 20:50

Aw I hope all the babies get better. DD has one of those masks for her asthma. She's fine with it now but used to be a bit wriggly - you can always do it when they're asleep if so.

I am off to bed in a minute as James pulled another 2.5-er (hours awake) last night. Argh. Luckily I managed to stay calm this time, which made me feel better although it didn't make him go to sleep any sooner! So much for that plan.

Congrats on the little boy news Katster! I'm sure they'll grow up to be great friends. Smile

Fruit We've been stuck in the last two days - snow here and the pushchair can't handle it - so I'm going stir crazy too. It hasn't snowed much today but I just went out and it's now really icy. I'm just hoping that's not another day in tomorrow!

Juicy Is that the same BIL who once started on DH? Sounds like he is a pain!

Ninjacat · 27/11/2010 06:57

It's lovely to hear about these new pg's. I'm still really jealous but would not be practical right now.

Laugs one week!

Skorpion it's normal to feel so stressed especially when sleep deprived. I was very stressed with DS1 who would not go to sleep without me going to bed with him. DS2 gets a bit of a short shrift I'm afraid as I was not going to get into that routine again. He has a bed time story etc then is expected to go to sleep, crying or not.

So work went well. Horrid hours but well looked after. You get a bit spoilt on set. No one here is providing me with three meals a day and running to get me a coffee when I ask or ushering me into a parking space each morning. Still it's much nicer to be at home.

Talking of home, we have moved. (well dp moved - I worked).
We have stairs! This may not seem very exciting but after 11 years in a flat to have a flight of your own stairs is fabulous.
We also have a dinning room and a bedroom for baby thrown in for good measure.

Hope you're all well and not too snow bound. Bristol had it's own little flurry last night but nothing to write home about although it does seem to have stopped John Lewis delivering my fridge, washing machine and Maclaran XT that I waited in for all day yesterday! grrr and double grrr as I paid for a speedy delivery.

Laugs · 27/11/2010 09:09

Ninja, I know, can't believe it!

Life on set sounds lovely, I could do with a bit of that Smile And congratulations on the new house! I know what you mean about stairs. I haven't lived in a house since 2nd year at uni (2001) and although we're in an upper flat (so we have stairs) it is having a downstairs that I fantasise about! Like being able to put the bins out without risking life and limb on our back stairs!

James exceeded himself by being awake for 3 hours 15 mins in the night! Shortly after he went to sleep stupid DH arrived home with his dad, drunk, woke me up to let them in, then crashed out and snored for the rest of the night, leaving me to lie there seething!! BOYS.

Oh dear, too many exclamation marks in there - can you tell I've had too much coffee already?! (another one for good measure)

It is snowing LOADS here today. You can't see where the snowy roofs end and the white sky starts. Think we'll be stuck in again. I might finally 'wallpaper' that empty Amazon box to make another room for DD's Sylvanian Families.

JuicyLips · 27/11/2010 09:47

Laugs That'd be the one. Im actually glad he's only seen Annabelle twice. (that I know of, though have sneaking suspicion she used to take the kids round his when they were still getting along before they fell out four months ago)he definitely isn't a good role model.

It is snowing here too. woke up to whiteness everywhere. Plus am very pleased as my new sofa suite has turned up finally. yay.

katster37 · 27/11/2010 09:53

Ninja I am with you on the stairs. Our current flat has a token three stairs, but I am so excited about moving to a house in April. If we can ever rent ours out, that is... Not sure how much fun moving with a 2 or so week old will be though. Life on set does sound nice,, but I bet the long hours weren't fun. Do you get a bit of a break now?

Laugs grrrrr for 3,15hrs awake.... you poor thing. Coffee is definitely the way forward. The worst thing about this pregnancy was limiting coffee (and wine, of course) after sleepless nights. I like the sound of the sylvanian house! What is happening in 1 week? Sorry, I am out of the loop!

Fruit good to hear from you. Hope your boys are feeling better today. S seems much better although stlll won't eat anything..... He did snort at a piece of birthday cake I was eating though and managed a mouthful of that Hmm but yghurt/porridge/fruit/mashed potato out of the question...

No snow here, but bl*ody freezing...

PavlovtheCat · 27/11/2010 20:16

Hey everyone, am here, but it is only a pit stop, laugs sorry you have had such a bad night, i hope tonight is better for you. I know those nights, where they are awake for hours. DS did this for weeks before i finally reached breaking point. Alas his sleep has taken a turn for the worst but he is teething, has had green snot and a cough, AND, AND, AND!!! He took two steps on his own today, proper ones, not the steps he has taken before which have been lurches/tumbles, but actual steps. He cruised around the corner of a friend's coffee table to pass something to DH, and he needed to step to get to him, so he just let go, did it, and squealed in absolute delight! So, my friend who was sat on the floor right next to DH called him over, DH held his fingers, let go and Roo held his arms out, took 2 proper actual steps, then lurched his 3rd and straight to my friend's hands Grin Grin he knew he had done something momentous, was swung in the air and he squealed and squealed with excitement. So, so lovely. ONE DAY before his 1st birthday Grin.

Tomorrow we are having a little afternoon tea with cucumber sarnies, mini cornish pasties, scones, clotted cream and jam (for the adults of course!), carrot cake, jelly Grin. A million balloons have been blown up for Roo as he loves them Grin

Ninjacat · 27/11/2010 21:05

Happy Birthday Roo.

Alfie learnt to climb the stairs today so maybe the novelty will soon ware off. He can do the entire flight grrr

lemontop · 27/11/2010 21:07

katster congrats on having another little boy!

pavlov yay on Roo's first steps and happy birthday for tomorrow!

I'm so rubbish at keeping in touch. Waves to everyone!

Isaac's poorly and I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with him. He keeps coughing and has a really runny nose but he's also got the worst nappy rash I've ever seen combined with an attack of the runs. It's so sore that he can't even bend his legs or sit down. I've been trying to give him loads of nappy free time and just using cotton wool and water but he literally shakes and screams whenever I try to clean him, then he poos again and it starts all over again! I'm not sure if it's teething related or if he's got a tummy bug. The glamour! Got some Metanium cream so I hope that helps. Was up many times through the night last night and hope we don't have the same again tonight.

helips · 28/11/2010 02:06

Hello all, I have been absent again and I apologise!

Ninja congrats on the move and finally having stairs! Hope you've bought some stairgates!

Pav Happy birthday to Roo, and well done on the walking.

Katster lovely to hear from you and hear about your new boy, very exciting. I agree, it is annoying when people assume you want a certain sex. As long as baby is healthy and happy what difference does it make if it's a boy or girl? Also, I much prefer blue to pink Grin

Ursi glad you had a good Trip and hope Paula starts sleeping soon, poor you [hugs]

Very jealous to hear about the snow, I can't wait to come home to the cold (I know that sounds daft but I love this time of year in England!) 3 weeks and I'll be home!

It does feel quite Christmassy here though, the decorations and lights are amazing in Singapore, they really do go to town! We are going to take Ds to see them one night this week as he gets excited seeing them in the day when they are off so can imagine he'll love seeing the place lit up!

Sorry to hear babies are still not sleeping, Millie is the same, still teething but no sign of the new teeth appearing, knowing my luck they'll appear on the way home and I'll have to deal with a screaming child on the plane home, nice!

It is my birthday today, we are going for lunch and then I think we'll pop to Ikea to get a Christmas tree and decorations. It might sound a strange thing to do but I love Christmas so will enjoy that! Then, once the babies are in bed I'll sit down with a glass of wine and watch Strictly on the iplayer, bliss!

Millie has started calling ds Hada, his name is Harry! In the morning she wakes up calling Hada Hada! So sweet! I think it's because he always brings her a teddy in the morning and she gets really excited to see him, they're not all bad, are they?!

Have a fun weekend all and I'll try to post more (and hopefully this will mean my posts are less waffly!)

longwayaway · 28/11/2010 07:05

Ugh lemontop we have the exact same thing here -horrible nappy rash, shaking in pain. You could have described our evening :( don't know what to do, poor thing.

Pav happy birthday to Roo and yay for the first steps!

Loving hearing about the pg progress, DWB and katster. Thanks for the updates.

helips absolutely precious that your DS takes Millie a teddy in the morning, and that she can say his name - so sweet!

Very sorry to hear about the night wakings. Sending more good sleep vibes.

Felt very emotional on LO's 1st birthday (which was coincidentally Thanksgiving here in the states - appropriately enough), kept thinking about the miserable time I spent in hospital wondering what the heck had just happened to my homebirth! But fantastically happy with the result, anyway :)

Fruitpastels · 28/11/2010 14:25

Ninja Great news on the house!

Hi longway have you settled in the states ok? Are you american? Sorry I can't remember.

Lemon Sounds awful. C was prescribed cream by the GP. I will dig it out and give you the name later. His rash was in a form of excema. The cream sorted it out quickly. Maybe a visit to the GP to get it checked out?

Third day home for us. DH is working. Both DS' on the mend, but my what an endurance it's been. DS1 is so active even when unwell, but has moments in the day when he wants to cuddle and rest. Just been to the local shop with them both for some fresh air. DS1 is now done in. Might have to keep him home tomorrow.

Hope those with snow are not stuck. We haven't had any in South East London. Not that I'm complaining!

Off to make some sticky cereal bars - yum!

longwayaway · 28/11/2010 20:21

fruit yes, I'm an American - was living in the UK when DD was born but moved back shortly thereafter. Trying to settle here but not having any luck finding a job, so I'm applying for positions in the UK again Hmm

lemon I just talked to an advice nurse and he told me it's probably a bacterial infection... I'm supposed to clean with a mild soap (!) and water then apply antibacterial ointment after dirty nappies, get as much air to the rash as possible, and see the doctor tomorrow if they can fit me in. Poor LO! Hope Isaac feels better soon x

skorpion · 29/11/2010 09:56

Happy Birthday Sam, Roo and Ethan!!

And Happy Birthday Helips, hope you enjoyed your day.

Lemon, Longway sorry to hear about sore bums, I used a cream on Lucy's, Timodine, I think, which seemed to work very well and fast. Once the rash has cleared up it's vaseline with every nappy change, works a treat.

Ninja congratulations on moving house! It does sound good to be spoilt a bit.

Well done all the babies on the move!! Amazing.

Katster how lovely, another boy. I remember the conversations about gender last year, I so wanted a boy... Wouldn't change it for anything now. I don't even particularly remember why I cared so much. How can the sex change how you feel about them?

Laugs so sorry to hear James still wakes up. (Bad mother alert) Lucy was up at 1am last night, at 2.30am I gave up and put her in her cot in her bedroom... the little bugger fell asleep within minutes after a bit of awful crying. And stayed asleep. It may become my new tactic, but I won't commit to this being a proven method just after one night. Watch this space.

skorpion · 29/11/2010 10:00

I meant to say I left her in her room on her own. I thought I'd give her a few minutes and see. She fell asleep. Sometimes I feel that if I go back in it makes her cry even more as in 'why aren't you picking me up, mama?'. So I sat there waiting in the hallway.

helips · 29/11/2010 13:27

longway and lemon hope the nappy rash clears up soon, poor little ones!

skorpion I left Millie to cry last night as she was sound asleep in my arms but as soon as I put her down in her cot she would wake up. After the third attempt I gave up and left her to cry. I felt awful but she fell asleep after 10 mins and slept through till 5am. Tonight she woke again when I put her down and I kept a hand on her chest and she fell asleep in seconds. Fingers crossed she stays that way!

Can I ask the ladies still breastfeeding how often they feed? Millie has 4 feeds, morning, mid morning, mid afternoon and before bed (but if she wakes in the night I feed her then too). If I'm out in the morning I normally give her a snack and water rather than feed and she doesn't cry for milk so I'm wondering if I should drop a feed. How many should they be having at this age? Also, today she didn't have a feed in the morning but by 5pm she wasn't crying for a milk feed but I fed her anyway (she did feed for a long time though) I feel that if I don't offer she's not fussed but if I do she does feed for a good while. I'm just not sure what to do!

skorpion · 29/11/2010 13:36

Helips here's to better sleep! I feed Lucy first thing in the morning (one side) and last thing in the evening (both sides). She also has milk in the night when it seems to be the only thing to stop her crying sometimes.

On from that - she refuses milk at nursery so mine is the only milk she has, plus some whole cow's on cereal. Do you think this is enough? I thought of just continuing like this until it goes or she refuses me, but do you think she should be having more milk generally, ie cow's milk to drink?
