Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PatsyPlusOne · 05/03/2011 10:48

OMG yuck!

Jacksterbear · 07/03/2011 11:53

Morning everyone!

So, I don't know if everyone will hate this idea but... anyone want to join me in a weekly "weigh-in" on this thread as a means of incentivising and encouraging weight-loss? If people don't want to put their actual weights we could do it as a target amount of weight we each want to lose then each week how far we all are towards our target?

KathMCB · 07/03/2011 18:28

I am very up for that!

(currently covered in snot and Calpol.....)

KathMCB · 08/03/2011 12:08

OMG - he slept for 12 hours in a row!!!! I am in shock all over again

JellyJenko · 08/03/2011 15:50

Kath Gotta love that calpol, eh? Grin

Jacks I'm up for that too.

Jacksterbear · 08/03/2011 16:26

Kath that's great!

Right, well this morning's weigh-in 10 st 5 lb. Target weight 9 st 7 lb (9 st 0 would be even better but maybe unrealistic!). So 12 lb to loss, hopefully at a rate of 1 lb per week, to coincide with my return to work in June!

KathMCB · 08/03/2011 17:42

Well I am currently at 12 stone dead on. I want to be back to 11 stone in next three months......:)

PatsyPlusOne · 09/03/2011 14:17

Has anybody else got nursery / childcare sorted yet for when you go back to work? Just started looking and have no idea what questions to ask! Also can't believe how expensive it is. Average is about £40 a day round here. Shock

As I was so ill for a few weeks, I managed to lose my baby weight quickly. One advantage of nearly getting blood poisoning I suppose Hmm

Jacksterbear · 09/03/2011 14:55

Patsy the childcare thing is a nightmare isn't it? Have just registered with childcare.co.uk and placed an ad on gumtree.com for a nanny. Have rung all the local childminders and none of them have places for a 4yo and a baby. And nursery hours are not long enough to cover my working hours plus commute. ARGGHHH!

Are you over the worst of the abcess nightmare now do u think?

PatsyPlusOne · 09/03/2011 15:30

Hi Jackster. Sounds like you're having more trouble with the childcare than me. At least I only have to think about one child, and DH can do either pick up or drop off so a bit more flexible on hours. Good luck with finding a nanny.

The wound still hasn't healed from when they drained the abscess, which was now about 2 months ago. So while it's not painful any more I still have to keep changing the dressings and can't have a proper shower - have to pull all sorts of funny moves to clean the rest of my body without getting the bad boob wet - I should have been a gymnast! But yes, I think the worst is probably over, just these annoying niggly things now.

JellyJenko · 15/03/2011 08:23

[proud mum alert]

Liam cut his first tooth yesterday. He's been dribbling a lot and chewing everything (he's obsessed with chewing his feet Hmm) but no fuss or lack of sleep. I'm so proud - I hope they all come through that easily. He'll be five months old next week so it happened sooner than expected. Smile

Hope you're all doing OK.

Jacksterbear · 15/03/2011 08:27

Yay Jenko that's exciting! No sign of teeth here and DD is just coming up for 6 mths.

KathMCB · 15/03/2011 19:07

EEK! How quickly are our LO growing! Teeth!

We bought a high chair and I am now starting to get nervous about going back to work!

I can't remember what it felt like to be pregnant...isn't that weird.

JellyJenko · 17/03/2011 10:19

Blooming heck - second tooth has come through now.

Getting nervous about breastfeeding now!! Also, have to try to incorporate teeth cleaning into our bedtime routine.

Kath I'm dreading going back to work. I've pushed it back to mid-May, but not looking forward to it at all. Sad

KathMCB · 17/03/2011 13:01

I know....I am in a weird boat as I am job hunting (but rather half arsed) But MUST DO BETTER! Have just got a house now so the pressure is mounting.....mat pay only lasts so long.

Cormac still hasn't rolled over but tummy time is now getting more intense!

Ouch on the BF and teeth thing....

KathMCB · 17/03/2011 13:05

The health visitor has just left after doing my five month PND check. I filled out three of the boxes inaccurately (sleep deprived) and she came out with with a ridiculously high score.....oops. I had to do it again with her giving me a really odd look

JellyJenko · 18/03/2011 12:42

Kath Is a five month check the norm? Or are you a special case? Smile

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 18/03/2011 13:49

Tilly rolls over now but no teeth yet! The dribbling is out of control though... Yesterday I went through about 6 skibz!

I was going to be a SAHM and was quite looking forward to it but recently miss my job so much!! I went yesterday and they're prepared to offer me 1 day a week to keep me on if I want it... So I'm probably going to do that.

It's more about being able to see everyone / have adult conversation and not really the money but I should get about £400 a month out of that so that's swaying me :p

KathMCB · 18/03/2011 14:38

Ha! I think I am a special case! I actually thinks she likes being nosey round my in laws big hoose!

I think a five month and then eight month check is the norm...

anything I am with you on the adult conversation!!

Jacksterbear · 18/03/2011 14:57

So did you come out ok the 2nd time Kath? I had a 3 month PND check and came out borderline, but (having been there before) feel like I am just about managing ok with a bit of exercise, trying to eat healthily and see friends lots, etc, rather than going back down the antidepressants route.

It looks like I have sorted a nanny! OMG, how terrifying and exciting Confused. She is really nice. Have phoned her just now to offer the job and she accepted. Have been v.v. stressed about it so it's a weight off my mind to have it sorted and now I can look forward to going back to work. Not that I have broken it to my DS yet, that I will be leaving him with the nanny (he thinks she is just a fun lady who came to play with him a couple of times Confused), but that's for another day I think.

KathMCB · 18/03/2011 20:11

Came out fine thanks....which I am thankful for as I am sure PND must be awful.

Am eating much better as well and getting out and about a lot.

Keep us updated on the nanny front! Cormac and I went swimming for the first time today and he seemed indifferent to the whole thing. Think he is in a huff with me as I am weaning him off needing nipples to fall asleep...!

Jacksterbear · 21/03/2011 14:28

Happy half bday to DD, 6 months today!

Am also celebrating today as have managed to squeeze into a pair of jeans that haven't fitted me for a year. Yay! (They are actually quite uncomfortably tight and I may have to take them off in a bit, but that's not the point Grin).

Hope everyone is doing well. X

KathMCB · 21/03/2011 16:33

woop woop!! Can you sit down in them....that was always the test!

Jacksterbear · 21/03/2011 16:37

Kath, yes but only just! Grin

Anythingwithagiraffeonit · 23/03/2011 22:24

Lol... That really is the test isn't it!

I thought I was 'back' in a pair of jeans so I wore them to lunch with my mum. They were so tight and uncomfortable I had to bail on the lunch and go and buy some leggings!

Happy half birthday to your DD! :)
