Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

Great idea Anything. I'm Michelle, 33, living in NW Kent. I'm a Civil Servant based in London and due to return at the begining of May - can't believe how quick that's coming round.

Whilst we're opening up and being honest, it might be fun to find out how we got ourselves into this situation - I've been married for 7 years and was TTC for 5 years due to PCOS. Finally managed it without medical intervention.Smile

Re feeding, I'm still BFing but have introduced 2 FFs a day (one at lunch, one in the evening) so I'm more free to go out and about. Planning to start feeding solids at 17 weeks as I want the fun of weaning him before I return to work.

Also, saw King's Speech last night and thought it was well worth the hype- excellent. I think I've even developed a bit of a crush on Colin Firth now! Blush

KathMCB · 10/02/2011 11:13

Well..I had been on the pill for 11 years and we decided to start our family in the December and I was pregnant two months after so it was a nice surprise! We moved from Edinburgh where me and my DH had been for 7 years as he got a place to study medicine in Durham. I found out I was pregnant on the 26th Feb and got married that weekend!

I am still EBF which is going well as he is a little piggie. I am looking forward to the weaning as he does not go for longer than four hours in the night without food!

I need to find an NHS job by September (eek!) otherwise I need to a)go back to my job in Edinburgh and work for three months soas I don't need to repay mat pay and/or b)hand in my notice c)?live in Edinburgh and commute to Durham (not an opinion really!)

So plan is to enjoy the mat leave till April/May then panic and take any job!

Oh and a wee confession my LO was born on 1st November so technically he is not an October thread baby but I was due on 30th OCt so does that count?? (and this thread was so much friendlier!)

Jacksterbear · 10/02/2011 12:38

Hey all! Wow I don't check the thread for a few days and now there's loads to catch up on!

Kath u def belong here... DD was born on 21st Sept as it turned out, but was due 14th Oct so we are sticking on this thread, so should you!

I am Emma, 33, live in Knebworth, Herts, and work in London as a Law School lecturer, due to return in June! Had DD after 1 yr TTC and one (early) mc. Been married 9 years. I have 2 DCs as you know, Jack and Matilda, DS has just turned 4.

Wow very exciting that so many of you are weaning already... no plans for us yet with DD, she is quite happy on her milk for the moment.

Also have a stone to lose (well would love to lose 1.5 stone but realistically looking at 1 stone to be an ok weight!!).

I want to see the Kings Speech! Definitely not watching Rabbit Hole though!!

Jacksterbear · 10/02/2011 12:40

p.s. Kath, Kathleen (my nan's name) was the name I wanted to call DD, lovely name, but it was vetoed by DH Sad.

KathMCB · 10/02/2011 13:00

Ah, yes it is a lovely name! I managed to get my LO called a good Irish name as well! (Cormac)

JazzieJeff · 10/02/2011 13:02

Oooh good idea anything!

My name is Harriet, I'm 23 and I work as a helicopter engineer for the Royal Navy at RNAS Culdrose in Cornwall not far from Truro.

DH and I got married back in 2009 and I'd been on the pill for years, so we decided to come off it that Christmas and see where nature took us; I genuinely thought I would take about 6 months because I'd been on the pill for so long; it took us a week Blush

So I'm interested anything (or are we going to use real names now?) what was the picture you had built up of me? I thought you were closer to my age, but kath I had a picture of you in my head that's just what you've described; I have a lovely friend at work called kath so I think I had her image in my mind when you wrote. She is from that area originally and is so kind Smile

KathMCB · 10/02/2011 13:35

Thanks Jazzie! or rather Harriet! Your job sounds way cooler than mine (evil NHS Manager) I thought you were closer to my age but I must confess to not giving it a lot of thought! I too thought it would take a while to become pregnant and we had thought up to a year as it had taken my sister two years but Cormac was in a hurry!

I love Cornwall, have only been once but it was spectacular countryside.

Am off out for walk as it is lovely and sunny. Although my pram wheel is broken so I am using the Kari me for thr first time out...

P.S although I am an evil NHS manager I do actually care about patients! I was a dreadful patient in hospital with the LO though!

Jacksterbear · 10/02/2011 20:49

Dying to know what mental pictures anyone had of me or what age people thought I was?!!

I assumed most of you would be slightly younger than me as I'm on my 2nd child. But I did know, or rather guess, that Jenko was the same age as me as your nickname was previously Jenko77!

Jacksterbear · 10/02/2011 20:52

But then again I also assumed (wrongly) that Jenko's real name was Jennifer!

Jacksterbear · 10/02/2011 20:57

anything... I could have imagined you as a Tara or a Jane - no idea why!

Jazzie I could have imagined you as an Amy or a Sarah. I think because I knew you worked on a military base which made you in my mind a down-to-earth, not too girly girl?!! (Hope that doesn't offend!)

jackster haha! Not at all, but I'm afraid that's a common misconception.... I couldn't be without my acrylic nails, pedicures and ghds Grin I'm the worst sailor out there too; I get hideously sea sick Blush

anything I'm so jealous of your job, it's so professional and impressive! I wish I did something like that!

JazzieJeff · 10/02/2011 21:59

anything I think it'd be cool to meet up actually Smile

KathMCB · 11/02/2011 12:18

I am blonde!!!!!

JellyJenko · 11/02/2011 12:24

Jackster I realised the '77' was a giveaway, hence the name change! The 'Jenko' came from a nickname I had when we lived in Oz. The 'Jelly' comes from this final stone I need to shift Blush

I think it would be good to meet up too, but we are all a bit far flung. If we did, I would cheekily suggest Bluewater as a good central place (being 5 minutes up the road from me!!)

KathMCB · 11/02/2011 12:49

I too would love to meet up and I am happy to travel! The A1 is and easy road.

Got my pram fixed but the wheel is still a bit wonky so Cormac is getting bounced around a lot and looks slightly confused by it all..

JazzieJeff · 11/02/2011 14:54

Bluewater is quite a way for me; about 7 hours lol! It takes 2 hours just to get out of Cornwall; the A30 is the worst road ever! I'd love to be more central; I hate this little town it sucks so Envy of all you ladies close to London. It'd probably be easier for me to get a plane.

DS not a very happy bunny today for some reason, played with him loads this morning but he only slept an hour and a half this lunchtime when he normally has about 2.5 and he only managed 10 minutes this morning. Could this be the dreaded sleep regression? He's four months old today so... Given teething gel and calpol, just in case (I always seem to be dishing it out, but you never know do you?) but I guess it could be a growth spurt, isn't one supposed to hit about now?

Still got another month to go of mat leave, been off work since the end of July because we have a month's leave over the summer so there was no point in going back after leave to waddle around for a few weeks. I'm not going back until mid-April though, because I've got 5 weeks of annual leave that I've somehow managed to rack up (I'm not asking any questions) and I'm not putting Danny in nursery whilst there's leave in the bank. It's an expensive old game! Luckily there's a nursery on base which is pretty good, quite good prices as well. It's £142.50 a week for 7:30am-5:30pm and that includes 3 meals a day and 2 snacks so that's not too bad, so what with the childcare vounchers it works out quite well. They also do it that if you pay by direct debit, you only pay for 11 months instead of 12 (you don't pay at Christmas) and they only close for bank hols and Christmas leave because it's a military base and we have Search ad Rescue, there's always people on duty 365 days a year. I like that the nursery is on base as well because I can pop in when I like you know?

Hope you are all well, going to try and upload some photos onto my profile... is anyone on Facebook?

JazzieJeff · 11/02/2011 15:34

Yaaay! Got some photos up on my profile now! Do I look like you thought I would???

KathMCB · 11/02/2011 17:04

I am on facebook - how do I share that with you?
Jazzie you don't look how I pictured!! Your LO is soo cute!

KathMCB · 11/02/2011 17:06

I can share this thebairns.wordpress.com which is our blog.....(My DH's work!)

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 11/02/2011 17:46

I'm in Facebook... I'll send a private message to you guys to give you my full name and you can add me if you like!

I'm very near London... About ten minutes, so selfishly meeting there would be selfishly best for me! Lol

My job is not that great, I promise you. It's very long hours for very little pay - the only perk being that if you're a heat / ok reading celeb lover like me, you get your fill most days! Lol

Very very cute little man 'Harriet' (doesnt that sound bizarre!!)

I could do London if it was in late June/July as I am going down there with the LO and DH to see my brother in law for a week. :)

Have added you both to my FB

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 11/02/2011 20:09

London late June / early July would be good for me! (but then... I do live just down the road so tomorrow in theory would be fine lol)
