Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

Anyone giving any solids yet?

I tried Tilly with some baby rice yesterday... Let's just say... Unimpressed! Lol

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 13:35

kath hey hey! There you go! Hope you got past your grumpy LO stage! I found continuously singing from the moment he gets out the bath until the moment he goes down stopped the bedtime screaming dead. We'd get his babygro on and he'd go nuts. Off like an alarm clock, same time every night... a dirty alarm clock at that Hmm

anything yes, DS HATED baby rice. He liked rusk a bit better, but tried him on Ellas Organic (squeezy pouches) and he gulps it down. He usually has something fruit based for lunch and something root vegetable based for dinner after about 4/5 oz of milk, then sometimes he'll have an extra couple of ounces of milk afterwards too.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 18:26

JazzieJeff - ive sent DH out to buy some of those, thanks for the advice! :)

I've started a thread in chat about what we're looking forward to doing with our DC's if anyone likes that sort of thing!

Is anyone following the Southsea and Pebble thread in Pregnancy?? I've logged in about 35 times today to check it for updates... Tilly thinks my iPhone is actually a part of my hand lol x

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 18:58

anything Southsea and Pebble thread? Can't find it, can you do a link? I'll check out the chat thread Smile Yeah those Ellas Organics things are great; I tried making my own purees but DS's face went like this Hmm and he sneezed it back out at me. You never can get all the lumps out. I started off with a really sweet one, the apples and bananas or apples and strawberries I can't remember but he loved it Smile Ooooh, make sure you offer it to them with a mmassive crazy lady smile on your face like this Grin to mhy DS it's the difference between him gluing his mouth shut and smilingly accepting it. Hipp Organic do a nice jar of banana rice cereal, DS enjoys that. How much does your LO eat including milk? Because aren't you guys 9th centile too?

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 19:46

She is a really bad eater. Two weeks ago she didn't drink any milk at all for more than 2 days...

Hospital / doctors / my mum have all suggested we try some food.

At the moment I make 5 7oz bottles a day but she has about 3 oz when she wakes up at 9ish, then 5oz at 1, then another 4/5 at 5, then we sit with her for about an hour and get her to take as much as humanly possible (usually 5/6oz) at half 8. Then she sleeps through...

So not enough! When do I give the food in her schedule?

I'll find a link to that thread for you, it's brilliant!

Xx

It's long - but read it, I bet you'll be hooked!
Great for during long feedings :p

Theres a second one, I'll find that too...

It's a bit of a slog, but very worth it! X

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 19:58

anything that's scary Sad I give 5/6oz of milk then about a tbsp slop food at lunchtime and dinner time (11am and 5pm for us) If she's hungry, she will take it. She might just be on track to be a size 6 skinny minny when she's older Envy are you or your husband a slim build? With solids, my DS is taking between 18 and 23oz a day. So about the same as your DD then? About a week/2 weeks ago we were getting 15oz down him a day, and that was after lots of stress on both sides. Now I figure if he wants it; he'll eat it. He's not stupid. I think he's just going to be a skinny kiddie Smile

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 20:05

My husband is slim, tall and eats like a pig :p

I'm not slim (especially with the fact I've still got a stone of baby weight to lose!) and on the shorter side..

Tilly (apart from the eating like a pig) is def her Daddy's girl! Is 40/50 % for everything (but sliding) but 97% for length... She'll have to reach stuff off of shelves for me :)

The not eating is really scary actually... She was a huge baby at birth, just over 10lbs, but lost 2lbs by her first weigh in and has been sliding down the scale ever since.

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 20:25

anything I've still got a stone to go too proffers Wine I'm currently guzzling a French red, want some? How much does Tilly weigh now? Danny was 6lbs 12oz at birth, dropped to 6lbs 3oz and when he was weighed last month was 12lbs. He doesn't have a roll of fat on him; not like the other kids. His Dad can eat what he likes and not gain and ounce; me, I've only to glance at a bar of Galaxy and that's another stone gone on Angry

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 20:26

Sorry that was supposed to be

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 20:35

I am currently halfway through a bottle of White wine actually... Lol... Working very hard to get rid of that stone!

Tilly weighs 14lbs now, was 10-1, dropped to 8-4 (scary!!) and slowly slowly has climbed to 14lbs.

I sort of get looked at like an idiot though when I get concerned about it. They say 'she's smiling, looks well in herself... Sleeping through! Well what are you worried about?'

It's frustrating. Even DH looks at me funny when I suggest we give her a middle of the night bottle...

Xx

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 20:49

I know. I'm the same. I think our DC's weigh about the same, mine probably a bit less; 0-3 months clothes are still baggy. That drop must've been awful for you Sad are you bf or ff? Any issues if you did bf?

Like I say, Danny takes about 18oz-23oz a day which by the sounds of things is the same as your DD.

His feeding got worse/fussier the more I stressed about it. I swear to God they know, don't they?! He'd take a few sucks (whilst grunting) and then rip his mouth off the teat, and do a kind of mad dying fly dance whilst panting madly.

KathMCB · 08/02/2011 21:06

must be a night for the vino! I have succumbed to a glass.....:)

KathMCB · 08/02/2011 21:07

and my DH is on the seventy second rendition of "the runaway train....":o

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 21:28

FF... Breast feeding not possible due to a surgery I had to have...

Been telling myself it's not that great, doesn't matter :p (but feeling shit about it!)

You both commented on the southsea pebble thread? Isn't it great! X

JazzieJeff · 08/02/2011 21:42

kath saw your post on the southsea thread God my heart was in my mouth when her dp broke his ankle. I cannot believe that insurance company Angry unbelieveable!

anything yeah amazing read I loved it! I wish I'd ff from the start. Bf really didn't work out that well for us, please don't beat yourself up.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/02/2011 21:46

It's crazy... I've been following it for so long it's like waiting for one of my friends to give birth! Think I'll have withdrawal symptoms when it's over.. :p

KathMCB · 09/02/2011 11:52

Have just watched the One Born Every Min I recorded from Monday.....brought back horrible forceps memories...

My LO missed playgroup today (or rather I did not have the energy to take him!) SO we are having a TV and chocolate peanuts day:) While also ignoring the housework.

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 09/02/2011 13:41

Just watched Rabbit Hole. Nobody watch it!! You'll never put your baby down ever again!! (stupid me!)

In other news Tilly loved the strawberry and apple pouch I fed her this morning... Had about 2 tablespoons of it... Woo hoo!

Yes, that forceps birth looked quite barbaric! Is that the norm do you think or was that quite a difficult one? Xx

KathMCB · 09/02/2011 16:33

I think that must have been a difficult one although I remember sliding off the bed when I had mine....

How old is Tilly...Cormac is now 3 and half months and I am trying to decide when to offer him something other than booby milk....

{scurries off to watch Rabbit hole..}

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 09/02/2011 16:50

Tilly's 4 months, and seems to like food a lot better than milk! (but then, she's never really liked milk so not that hard to beat!)

Oh god don't watch it... It's not even that great and it will def make you cry! Watch The Kings Speech instead! Watched that and Black Swan yesterday and they are both amazing!

(avoid 'the kids are alright' as well! Complete rubbish...)

Sorry, I'm quite bored today! Lol

KathMCB · 09/02/2011 19:05

Ah...I have seen most of the Kings Speech and it was brilliant.

I too have been pretty bored....I have arranged to meetup with a local mum on Friday so am hoping for some face to face non baby talk! I love being a mummy but you can go a bit mad sometimes!

My bloomin' pram has a puncture so we have been house bound for couple of days so have watched lots of recorded TV today and made a nice dinner
