Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pinkhyena · 13/12/2010 21:45

Hi ladies haven't been on for a few weeks hope everyone is ok!

It's interesting reading about attempts at sex, I had my 6 week check last Tuesday and we still haven't tried yet. I do want to but nervous in case it's painful, and both of us are pretty tired AND DH has a frozen shoulder so no idea when that will happenHmm. Sounds awful but I kind of want to just get the first time over with so I can get back to enjoying it!

Christmas!! So excited about Christmas! We love it anyway so we're extra excited this year even though Dexter won't have a clue whats going on. We've got to divide our days (boxing day as well) between the two families, my parents are having loads of people over but i'm a bit nervous of them all handling Dexter because he's got his injections on the 23rd so his legs will be all bruised. Ah well will just have to warn and re-warn everyone!

Pinkhyena... I don't know if this helps at all but Tilly had her jabs and was absolutely fine the day after... Handling wise! Xx

KathMCB · 14/12/2010 14:20

Hi all

Had the six week check (anyone else find it a bit pointless?) but still holding back on sex mainly as I am waiting to get the pill and the chemist had run out...keen to try if we can find more than ten mins to ourselves!

Christmas plans are to stay with the in laws (no change there as we are currently living with him and her in law, brother in law and his girl, sister in law and greatgran as well as me and DH and DS!)Its a temporary situation and is actually working well (I have not done ANY housework since DS arrived)

Getting the tree on Sunday and the my little sister arrives next week which I am looking forward to.

Taking DS to the cinema in Newcastle tomorrow in a "bring a baby" session of Its a Wonderful life" so if I can time the feeds may get to actualy see it!

DillyDora · 15/12/2010 14:53

Hi ladies, marking my place...been orff for a while ;0)

JazzieJeff · 15/12/2010 23:18

dilly !!! You're back! How's it going?

kath hope all goes well with your pill, as I say I'm probably just really unlucky but keep an eye on yourself

Our Christmas plans are to stay home alone with ds on the actual day and then go and see family after on boxing day. Has anyone else bought rather too many presents for their LO when they blatantly can't open them?! We've bought him loads if clothes he'll grow into (I always hated it when my parents did that, yet here I am holding stuff up against ds and saying 'ahh, he'll grow into it!), and toys.

Hope you are all well xx

JellyJenko · 16/12/2010 07:56

Still no word from Yummy - hope she's doing OK and lurking, even if not getting time to post.

We're having Christmas day home alone, just the three of us - I can't wait!! So far I've been quite sensible with presents for DS (Santa is bringing him nappies and wipes!!Xmas Blush), but there's still a week of panic-buying to be done!! And Jazzie I've bought some things for him 'to grow into'. I can't believe the speed he's growing out for things though, so he'll be in them in no time!

Fingers crossed that this next bout of snow isn't too disruptive - Keep warm! x Xmas Smile

KathMCB · 17/12/2010 11:34

Have discussed with DH and we have opted not to go for Cerazette (mini pill) at the moment. Have got so used to not being on the pill that I am reluctant to go back on it. Any of you had any experenice with the coil? Don't want to rely on BF.

My LO has been an angel the last few days. Very few grumps and lots of smiles. Must know Santa is on his way! Still has predictable evening cranky-ness which means we have started going to bed at eight so we are all asleep (we co-sleep with a side car cot) by 11pm which is not bad. He is up every 3 hours for a feed but BF lying down not so bad.

Off for a back massage this afternoon as a Xmas treat. Just need to time the feeds (somehow!) so that I get the one hour to myself.

Better go, the wee one has woken and wants a nipple!

DillyDora · 18/12/2010 13:56

I had a bad experience with Cerazette too (well, it made me v depressed so I thought s*d it why wait any longer to ttc and we got DS so maybe it wasn't a bad experience!!!) so I am kind of thinking about the coil but quite worried about pain, spotting, weight gain....

Loving being with DS, more even than I thought I would, he rocks! No routine, lots of co-sleeping (by which I mean he sleeps on my chest most of the night!!!), marathon 90 minute feeds, feeding at least every 3 hours - maybe every 2 at night, screaming hab dabs when I change him (though these are getting fewer) and it's still BRILLIANT!

RE sex, I had EMCS but the scar was so tender to the touch that any 'close cuddles' didn't seem very tempting. We did do it a couple of weeks ago (quickly on the sofa while DS slept for once if that's not TMI!) and it was lovely but will be more lovely when DS sleeps better and I haven't got half an ear out for him and am not worried about leaky boobs....!!!! It's not easy is it?

KathMCB · 18/12/2010 22:13

No it is not easy!! And yes it does rock having a wee one. I LOVE it!

KFW · 18/12/2010 22:35

Hi girls

I had a Mirena coil. It's the one with impregnated hormones. Friends have had it and raved about it. I know that for lots of people it means no periods at all! I had no side effects emotion-wise (I think it uses far lower dosw of hormones than the pill so has a much better rep for that), but rather than have no periods, I ended up with v light periods and mid-cycle spotting. So basically 2 periods a month Angry. I wouldn't go for that coil again, but I think I am probably going to get a regular one. I had bad experiences with pills (cerazette included - I cried non-stop!), so I want to avoid them.

Even though I had mid-cycle spotting with mirena I would recommend it because I understand it's quite rare to have the reaction I had and if you're forgetful like me it iliminates the risk for forgetting pills and if you also stop bleeding for periods, ut has to be a good result!

PatsyPlusOne · 19/12/2010 05:43

hello, hello!

not posted for a while, but been lurking. glad to hear everyone's christmas preparations going well. think i'm nearly there with the shopping. we're waking up at home then going to the in laws for a couple of hours then on to my parents for christmas dinner, so will be well fed and looked after.

we had sex for the first time the other day and i couldn't really enjoy it. my whole body feels different. massive leaky boobs with nipples that i don't like dh to touch any more as they feel so sensitive, saggy belly and 'down there' feels so different too. Add to that we never know when DS will wake up - not a good sleeper - and I couldn't relax into it. i'm sure it will get better again, but don't know when!

in addition, i'm still having to express from my left boob as this abcess isn't going away quickly and can't get little henry to latch on. hence posting at this time of the morning while sitting at the kitchen table while most sensiblepeople are in bed! means I'm still feeling shattered all the time. Even if DS sleeps better, (which he still doesn't really!) I have to express every 2 hrs in the day and every 3 hours at night, so no hope for me really.

KathMCB · 19/12/2010 19:57

Patsy - I really feel for you, I hope you get some relief soon and some sleep. When will the abcess heal for good?

Still not done the deed yet, we are sharing a house with my in laws so really we have zero chance at the minute...its a wonder I got pregnant in the first place!

PatsyPlusOne · 21/12/2010 02:09

thanks kath, doctors estimate is 6 months to heal, but hopefully will be able to get ds back on before then, or will have lost the will to live I think!

You're brave to share a house with ur inlaws for so long!

Jacksterbear · 21/12/2010 21:45

KathMCB · 23/12/2010 16:24

A very Merry Christmas! We are now almost snowed in but the fire is burning and we have a stock of nappies and Xmas lunch so let it snow! :)

DillyDora · 24/12/2010 19:44

Merry Christmas all! just marking my place, will post properly soon but wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas with all your DCs especially the newest ones!

PatsyPlusOne · 24/12/2010 19:59

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you all have a good one. Xmas Smile

KathMCB · 28/12/2010 18:16

How many clothes does a two month old need??!!!!

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 28/12/2010 20:43

A lot if DD's Christmas presents are anything to go by!

Did everyone have a good time?

I had something of a shitty one! (I posted in AIBU, 'to be REALLY annoyed with my brother and his girlfriend')

Xxx

JellyJenko · 29/12/2010 10:01

Kath I was just thinking the same thing - so many clothes to sort out!!

Anything Sorry you had a crap one. Just been reading your AIBU thread - sounds like your brother has something going on in the background - sounds too extreme to just be down to jealousy. And your DDs first Christmas is a big deal, so ignore those that say YABU.

I had a great Christmas, and as a special treat DS slept from 10.30pm Christmas Eve to 4.30am Christmas day for the first time!! I was so excited. It was the same again Christmas night too, but now back to the old 'every 3 hours' routine. Perhaps it was the amount of champagne I had consumed... Xmas Blush

DS is booked in for his first lot of jabs this Friday - can anyone let me know how your DCs recovered from theirs ... We've been invited out (so someone's house) for NYE but might be best to stay at home if DS is going to be grouchy and under the weather.

JazzieJeff · 29/12/2010 20:41

anything that SUCKS. I read your post, you are so not being unreasonable, anyone who says you were seriously has a skewed view of life! I'd leave them to themselves for a little while and then try again perhaps through your mum.

jelly hurrah! That's how my lo started out, with that stretch. When he woke up at 4:30 I tried not feeding him, but taking him into bed with me, laying him on my belly and tucking his blanket round us from his cot so he couldn't fall off iyswim. Sometimes I gave him a dummy as well, sometimes I didn't but after about 10 days I guess he started sleeping later and later and got the idea that it's nice to sleep when it's dark.

If any of you have got older kids or have switched to a sleeping bag lately, I've posted in the sleep forum and would love love LOVE any advice you have to offer on it, as ds isn't too happy with the switch from swaddle to sleeping bag!

JazzieJeff · 29/12/2010 20:44

Btw I should probably say jelly that I just tried not feeding my lo after a few nights of him only taking a little bit, not that he cried and I thought 'bugger this I can't be arsed' just tried it on the offchance and it worked!

KathMCB · 30/12/2010 18:52

Question - for any of you that are Breastfeeding...how often is your LO feeding? Mine has just started to feed a bit less in the last few days....was not sure if this was just what happened at eight weeks? AM going with the flow but my boobs are pretty sore as he is now going up to four hours sometimes during the day...

We too have jabs this Friday Jelly so not sure how that will go.

Have had a lovely Christmas but am now trying to make some plans for the New Year to a)lose the last ten pounds and b) meet some more people and get out more.

We are planning a very home based Hogmanay this year...board games, glass of bubbly and in bed as early as the LO allows!

Are any of you having a drink while BF?
