Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

Hope jabs go/went ok today Kath and Jenko, both my DCS have been fine after theirs - if anything more sleepy than usual hurray!

Kath Envy at you only having 10lbs to lose! I still have about 1.5 stone to go!

anything I haven't seen your other thread but sorry you had a shit time.

Jazzie sorry no helpful advice re sleeping bags, both mine hated swaddling from the start and have been fine in sleeping bags.

All ok here. DD on anti-biotics for chesty cough but otherwise doing well. Having friends over to dinner this evening, we will have 8 adults + 8 kids in all!! Confused

Happy New Year to everyone!

KathMCB · 31/12/2010 18:10

Happy New Year to you all :)

DillyDora · 02/01/2011 14:48

Happy new year all! More soon....
xx

DillyDora · 02/01/2011 14:52

Kath LO is sometimes going 4 - 5 hours between feeds in the day (why not at night?!?!?) - he's nearly 11 weeks but did a lot of rapid weight gain so was feeding a lot up to now. Your boobs will adjust to the demand, and then adjust again when a growth spurt comes Wink. In the meantime, can you express in order to be more comfortable (and get some time off and have a drink or 3?!) As far as I know it's fine to have a glass of wine if you're bfing - this is what I hear from local mws.

DillyDora · 02/01/2011 14:58

jazzie interesting what you tried with your LO, mine sometimes goes through the nightfeed, sometimes not. His Papa gives him a bottle of EBM about 11.30 or 12 and then he has been known to sleep till almost 6 am, but equally has woken at 2.30 for a feed - he'll always have a proper feed (never one to turn down food!!!!) but I think he could sleep longer... might try some cuddling instead.

I want to post about sleep too - DS doesn't sleep in the evenings as a rule, tends to be on the boob from about 6-10, then starts screaming at 10 when I go to bed and his Papa has to calm him, he sometimes sleeps then up to the 12 o'clock feed, then he sleeps fine at night between feeds. I wonder if we should try changing things a bit...he's only 11 weeks old and we had trouble getting him to gain weight very early on (do you remember we ended up back in hospital) so I am not sure how to handle him missing some feeds....any advice anyone?

KathMCB · 02/01/2011 20:14

Dilly thanks for the advice, can't wait for my boobs to settle a bit. I did express a bit yesterday to ease them a bit as they were rock hard and uncomfortable but they seem to be better today.

Took the wee one shopping today in Metro Centre and he was an angel. Ended up feeding him in Mothercare (the chairs were awful, no arms) and chatting to another new mum which was lovely.

Have decided that Sundays will be my day of the week to plan what we are doing for the rest of the week. I am determined to get more organised for 2011!

Jazzie sounds like my LO who ends up on boob most of evening. We found that he is simply a night owl and hates napping after about 7pm and just waits for us going to bed at about 10/11pm. Not sure how this will pan out when he is older....can you tank him up with more feed during the day if you are worried?

DillyDora · 03/01/2011 11:26

Kath hang on in there, it will get better. So uncomfy though, my boobs got me up at 1am this morning - no need to feed LO, just to express! Bah!

After all that DS napped from 7-9pm last night (much to the annoyance of my MiL who thinks he should be on her schedule not his own.... you can imagine how that goes down with me...) I think once we're back from visiting my Mum we'll be looking to get some kind of routine going a bit more...

KathMCB · 03/01/2011 17:08

I am also on a baby led routine which is working fine at the moment as he is only 9 weeks old but I worry a little that he finds it hard to sleep in the living room.

Hoping to more to more of a routine when he is 3 months old in terms of the sleeping and nap times but I am leaving the feeding as and when he wants it.....

Am also trying to get out and about more, have found a Bring Baby cinema session every Wednesday which I am loving as I feel like it is some me time (my LO sleeps through the whole thing and I eat popcorn its great)

Happy New Year all

was really looking forward to today, DH back at work, DD1 at nursery and a nice peaceful day at home tidying up with DD2. DD1 had other ideas and has been up puking in the night so no nursery and a DD who now feels fine and is full of beans!

Not caught up properly with posts but no change here. DD2 goes to bed at 7, dream feed at 22.30, night feed about 3 (when she wakes up) and then up at 7. Have concluded that I am happy to do the night feed for the forseeable future as it's much easier than starting the day at 5.30 like DD1 always did. Still feeling very blessed at having such an obliging baby!

Immunisations went pretty well, he was annoyed by the first one and howling by the second but after a feed and a cuddle he was as good as gold. Hoorah!

KathMCB · 05/01/2011 16:07

Arghh..spoke to soon, he was grumpy all night and really annoyed. Seems better today.

Anyone else having a good cry at EE? Have decided not to watch it anymore as it is too depressing..

Jacksterbear · 05/01/2011 17:34

Kath, hope he settles down soon, the effect of the jabs shouldn't last long. I don't watch EE although have heard about the outrage via people's FB posts and threads on here!

Jacksterbear · 06/01/2011 11:45

Had our 2nd round of jabs this a.m. - so far so good fingers crossed!

Hevster · 06/01/2011 21:56

2nd round of jabs next week, have calpol ready, also have given up watching Eastenders until storyline finished as I just don't like it. Sadly have to confess these are poss the first episodes I have missed ever.... (hangs head in shame as remembers watching it in a bar in Zante with large English breakfast and pint of lager!)

Jacks hope you continue on the so far so good Smile

I'm officially the worst mummy in the world!

I missed Tilly's jabs today!! I totally forgot about them... Which is really unlike me :s

I'm quite scared to call tomorrow for another appointment...

Ugh!

Hevster · 07/01/2011 13:32

anything I wouldn't worry about it, I cancelled DD1's several times as she had a cold and I am quite sure loads of people don't turn up coz they forget. sleep deprived, hormonal women with babies are generally rubbish at remembering stuff Grin

OP posts:
KathMCB · 07/01/2011 17:33

anything I agree, don't worry about it! It must happen all the time and they probably won't be too bothered.

don't let them bully you :)

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 08/01/2011 20:12

I think it's gonna be fine! The receptionist was actually really nice about it! (very uncharacteristic!)

By the way (and please feel very free to ignore this as I'm sure it Borders on the cheeky!) my husband is running the London marathon this year in aid of Great Ormond Street Childrens hospital... If anyone would be willing to sponsor him it's..

www.justgiving.com/adrianjacob

Very cheeky!! I'm actually blushing :p but it's for the kids so I thought I'd brazenly post the address everywhere! Xx

KathMCB · 09/01/2011 16:47

if you don't ask you won't get! I will follow the link :)

Jacksterbear · 09/01/2011 22:26

Hi all v excited accessing mn for 1st time from new phone this is test post! Will post properly later x

RooBear · 10/01/2011 13:30

hello again,
I'm so shattered as Erin now needs 2hr feeds constantly. Might have to think about introducing a evening bottle. So now I'm only getting around 4 hrs a night.

Welcome to the new people. I hope to be on a bit more again as the sleep thing is just putting me on auto pilot and its becoming more normal!

KathMCB · 10/01/2011 14:34

Hi RooBear, it could just be a growth spurt and might get better? Sorry you are so shattered.

My LO has now decided that he can#t really sleep anywhere except my bed next to me so am trying to break that habit asap! He co-sleeps with us but we have a three sided crib which he is supposed to sleep in but he causes such a fuss when he is put in it that I end up giving in and having him next to me. Fine for now but I don't want it to be a habit that is impossible to break.

JazzieJeff · 11/01/2011 15:59

Hi roobear sorry to hear you're so tired. jazzieboy hasn't done any of his growth spurts at the 'right' times like the books say it's only been when he's cluster fed for ages that we've realised. It sucks.

jazzieboy rolled over for the first time today! Right after our baby massage class, chuffed to bits he really wants to get moving, looks like I'll have my work cut out for me lol! He won't lie on his front at all now, he rolls over straight away and grins at me from ear to ear like this Grin

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 11/01/2011 16:58

Awww... Jazzie that's amazing!

How many weeks is he? X

JazzieJeff · 11/01/2011 19:01

He's 12 weeks anything I'm not sure when they're meant to roll but he seems happy with his new party trick! When he does it he has a look on his face that's like 'ta-da!' it's lovely
