hey everyone, finally recovered from the stitches and feeling a bit more human again!

congrats jenko and kfw-snap birth weight!

don't worry yummy you have literaly days to wait, she'll be here soon, as will yours honey x

Jacksmybaby · 29/10/2010 18:15

Congrats KFW!
RooBear, good to hear you are doing well.
Yummy Nearly there!!

All good here, glad to have got to the end of half term - yay! (You know you are getting old when the thought of school holidays fills you with horror not joy Grin).

x

YummyMummy1208 · 29/10/2010 19:15

Thanks Roobear,Jacks. Hard to stay positive now as each day goes by i lose a little more faith in ever going into labour naturally!

So iv been to have some spicy chicken wings with OH and just popped to morrisons to buy some cream cakes and chocolates to drown my sorrows :)

Hope you enjoy the midwife free weekend Roobear, give you all a chance to settle in together. im glad i have OH to chauffer me around for a few days as its too uncomfortable to drive now so iv not used the car for 3 days! Toys r us tomorrow to do a little xmas shopping i think. plus spending money cheers me up no end so cant hurt can it?!

hope you all have a nice weekend with your little ones.

babybunting2010 · 29/10/2010 21:11

Hi all, sorry for the delay in touching base! Only just picked up my phone after breaking it. Thanks hev for copying my status hoped someone had done that for me. Waters broke at 11.05am on the 20th with muconium in it, so drove to hospital as dh had been called away with work and was an hour away they started with the drip induction was given epidural at about 7cm's but didn't work at hurt so much to put it in. Was offered another which i had to have a spinal block to have put in as hurt more than any of the contractions but epidural still didn't work eventually after an hour of pushing from 4am to 5am they worked out that the little monkey had moved back to back and was looking in the wrong direction so was taken in for an emergency c- section and chloe was born at 6.03am on the 21st at 8lbs 7ozs. Was originally given the wrong weight thus the wrong weight was added on facebook. It was an exhausting experience but glad she's here safe and sound. It's taken me about 4 hours to write and post this so will catch up properly soon. Congrats to all those whose babies have arrived. Having gone 11 days over i feel your pain if you're running over. X

Jacksmybaby · 29/10/2010 22:49

Good to hear from you babyb how is your DD doing now?

Moan for the day: re being able to drive. Spoke to insurance co today to check their policy on covering me post-CS and they said they will only cover me once I have the all-clear from a doctor to drive. All very well but my "6 week" post-natal check at the GP isn't until 15th Nov which will actually be 8 weeks - explained to insurance co who were particularly unhelpful about it all. Grrr. Angry. Going to try to ring GP surgery on Monday a.m. to ask them if I can speak to a doc on the phone to get the all-clear, will go mad if I can't drive for another 2 weeks just because the NHS are crap and couldn't give me an appointment when they were supposed to!

YummyMummy1208 · 30/10/2010 22:09

I cant believe its actually going to happen....im going to have a halloween baby Hmm I spent months joking about it at work and tonight my waters have gone and ive been having contractions every 5/6 minutes for the last 2 hours now.
Have my tens machine on and trying to keep active to avoid going in to hospital too soon!

Argh! Crapping myself now...i have to give birth...again!

Hopefully see you all on the other side tomorrow!

rollerbaby · 30/10/2010 22:30

Oooh yummy!!! Don't be scared!!! Good luck with everything... Can you have a bath to relax maybe?

xxx

KFW · 31/10/2010 08:23

Good morning ladies

How exciting yummy!

I hope everyone is doing well. Minnie (our "username" as DH calls it Hmm for Jasmine) is a gorgeous, GORGEOUS little girl. Feeding well and looking healthy. DH and I are deliriously happy.

This may be boring but I am interested in FOOD. Please share your meals of forbidden delights: I have eaten so far: very rare filet steak (first night), pate on toast (first lunch), stilton and parma ham (second lunch), copious amounts of take away sushi (last night). For lunch today we have TWO different types of runny cheese and several salamis and then it's rare roast beef for supper! Don't worry - I am also eating veg. I do NOT want to risk any issues in the straining department because I have stitches Confused

I do like being able to eat what I want again Grin. Hope you are all tucking in too!

Any word from Saartjie? I think she was due the day after me.

I hope everyone's babies are being delicious. And best of luck to anyone who still has this incredible experience to come.

X

PatsyPlusOne · 31/10/2010 14:25

Hi ladies

Exciting post from Yummy last night, hope all is going well!

Glad to hear feeding is going well for you KFW. Not so lucky here I'm afraid. I'm certain Henry is getting all the milk he needs given the number of dirty nappies we get, but getting a good latch just doesn't seem to come easily for us and as a result my nipples are cracked and very very sore. MW is coming for 10 day check tomorrow, so going to ask her advice, but finding it very difficlut right now. Sad So please send us positive latching on thoughts as you're bfing your beautiful babies and hopefully we'll get it right soon.

Jenko77 · 31/10/2010 18:42

Hi all,
Liam is one week old today (in a couple of hours to ge precise!). Can't believe it's been a week - and I still can't sit down properly - damned stiches Blush

Yummy So exciting - can't wait to hear your news. Hope all went OK. Smile

Patsy I'm BF-ing and hopefully doing it right. Not getting as many dirty nappies as expected (I should probably be grateful for that Grin) but he's getting weighed tomorrow so we'll find out for sure then. I had a bad time of it around day 3 or 4 and tried nipple shields - seriously the best invention ever!! The original latching on still hurt a little (he has a killer suck!) but it eased off quickly and meant that I didn't sob through every feed. Only needed them for a couple of days and back 'au natural' now. Good luck!!

Jacks Good luck sorting out the driving thing - that must be tough.

KFW Baked camembert last night, and plenty of rare steak (I lost a lot of blood and have low iron levels, so it's purely medicinal....Grin

Meanwhile, anyone else with stiches who can let me know how long until I can sit down properly and without a pillow?

Hevster · 31/10/2010 21:04

Jacks your insurane are company are buggers, mine don't care if I drive or not as it's apparently not on the DVLA list but not had the energy yet.

Been in Grantham all weekend at my cousins wedding and am shattered now - don't know how single parents manage as I have struggled and it's only been a weekend.

Yummy hope all is well

KFW still not regained appetite so not being having much food

Blood test to see if iron levels up tomorrow (they won't be as i haven't eaten the pills [shocked] !)

Jenko stitches were sore with DD1 for 2-3 weeks - sorry

OP posts:
Jacksmybaby · 01/11/2010 09:43

Yummy - hope to hear from you soon with some news!

Hev - you are very brave doing a weekend on your own, and yes I have immense respect for single parents too, no idea how they do it!

Patsy good luck sorting out the BFing, no advice but sending positive thoughts.

Got to go, DS pestering, catch up soon. x

Jacksmybaby · 01/11/2010 17:36

Today's weigh-in for DD: 8lb 1oz hurray!

KFW · 01/11/2010 17:36

hev hope you feel better soon. Take those tablets you naughty lady Smile - I am on iron too.

jenko - my stitches are very sore too. I am also just generally bruised I think and the whole are is very tender indeed. I am not waddling quite as badly as I was, but I am still very slow and sitting down is painful. The MW told me it'd be like this for a fortnight or so. Just keep an eye that the blood doesn't smell - I.e. That there's no infection. Hopefully we'll be skipping along soon. I want to take her out in her pram!

patsy I hope the BFing sorts itself out quickly. I was v sore for 24 hours or so and I understand that everyone gets at least a bit sore, and that just when you think you can't take it anymore, it gets better. (A bit like the pushing IME!!!). I am sure he'll bve expert at latching soon Smile.

Take care everyone. I am keen as a bean to hear from yummy!

X

Hevster · 01/11/2010 20:58

Yummy has stuff on facebook saying she has had her baby girl but I haven't caught up enough to gather the details. Expect she will post soon.

Nothing new to report here, hope you are all doing ok and well done on you brave souls who are persevering with the breast feeding.

Infection seems to have cleared up (hurrah) so all those of you with stitches - worry not it improves quite quickly

Hi everyone!

Last night Tilly slept from 12.30 till 7.30!! I almost had a heart attack when I woke up and saw the time :p

Could someone please tell me if this is okay?? Should I let her do this, or should I make sure I wake her up for a feed? I don't want to ask the health visitor who already makes me feel like the worst mother in the world when she talks to me...

I would have set an alarm or something... But usually she cries and wakes me up :p

I want Yummy to post!! Will that be everyone? X

Jacksmybaby · 02/11/2010 11:53

Hi anything... wish my Tilly would do that! No I wouldn't wake her (assuming there are no problems with her weight gain generally - otherwise I would wake her after about 5hrs if she was v. tiny or not gaining weight) - she would have woken had she desperately needed feeding... you will probably find (sorry!) that it was a one-off. Let sleeping babies lie, and enjoy! x

Hevster · 02/11/2010 21:11

anything Isabella has slept 01:30 until 7ish the last 4 nights then glugs her breakfast so fast she chucks! Like Jacks says as long as she is gaining weight and isn't a tiny baby I would let her be. You might find she needs feeding more often during the day though as they tend to make it back somewhere.

YummyMummy1208 · 03/11/2010 08:16

Hello Ladies,

Sorry its been so long before i posted but our little baby girl Neveah arrived at 01:55 on Halloween weighing 8lb7. Grin

7 hour labour from start to finish, no interventions, no stitches and out of hospital the same day so all went very well. Although i did find that such a quick labour (compared to my 26 hours last time) made things a lot more intense and scary. But shes here now and shes just so gorgeous. :)

only problem now is trying to switch her timings around - she sleeps like a log all day long when my DS is awake and then is wide awake all night until about 5am then DS is up at 7! So me and OH kind of resemble zombies at the moment but im sure we will work some sort of routine out soon, early days i guess.

hope everyone is ok.xx

Jenko77 · 03/11/2010 08:24

Yummy Congratulations on your DD, and well done for getting through such a quick labour with no interventions or stitches! Smile

So, I think that's everyone now... we're all officially tired Grin.

Can anyone with past experience tell me when I should start thinking about routines? I'm still feeding on demand and DS always falls asleep at the breast which is fine, and he is only 10 days old, but I don't want to get stuck like this for the next year!!... Any ideas?

Jacksmybaby · 03/11/2010 09:09

Congrats yummy!! xx

I think there is just honeymoo to go now.

Jenko I would start thinking about establishing the difference between night and day - I'm sure you're doing this already but things like keeping the lights v. low and things v. quiet at night-time feeds, not changing nappy in night unless dirty nappy or sore bottom, doing a change of clothes/bath/wash/massage etc at "bedtime"... other than that, not much you can do at this stage in terms of routine IMO. Although opinions differ greatly on this point!!

Hevster · 03/11/2010 16:31

congratulations to Yummy well done

Jenko Jacks is right, opinions vary enormously. At 4 weeks we are establishing a pretty decent routine (Baby whisperer book) and feeding every 3 hours but then I have been very determined to this time as DD was a nightmare and had night and day the wrong way round for at least the first 8 weeks

OP posts:
Jenko77 · 04/11/2010 11:08

Hev and Jacks Thanks for the advice. I'm trying to establish a routine now, and DS seems to play up in the evening wanting to feed all evening (so he seems to know what's going on!!). On the plus side, the night time feeds are very calm and pretty quick, so he must know the difference!?

Hev Do you wake your DD up every 3 hours to feed, or is that just the pattern that she's got herself into?

Patsy How are you getting on with the BF-ing? I hope the MW gave you some good advice and things are getting easier now.

Hevster · 04/11/2010 15:04

Jenko I feed her every 3 hrs whether she is awake or asleep. If she eats whilst asleep (very strange!) then I wake her up after the feed by changing her and she generally stays awake then for about 90 mins. Tis restricting my life a little at the moment but then it shouldn't take too long for her to get used to it

PatsyPlusOne · 05/11/2010 13:53

Hi all

Congratulations Yummy!

There seem to be so many little girls this year. It's the same in our NCT group. so far out of 8 of us, 5 births and 4 have been girls, so I think young Henry will be turning into a bit of a ladies man!

BFing still painful. Have had my baps out in front of just about every MW and health visitor in the county by now and they all say it looks like a perfect latch - big mouthfull of breast, can;t see any of the areola when he's on, series of long deep sucks and swallows, good positioning with tummy to mummy, nose to nipple and all that jazz, BUT STILL IT HURTS!!!! Still, nipples are healing now, sowonder if some of it is residual pain from when they were bad. Now more of a dull pain as he chomps away than the shooting pains before. We're still working on it though... and he's a real little guzzler putting on plenty of weight, so not too much toworry about. Given the easy pregnancy anf birth we had I guess our tricky period had to come some time.

We are feeding on demand too, but Henry seems to have settled himself into a sort of 4 hourly pattern of waking, feeding, pooing while feeding (at every single feed!), nappy change, wakeful time, then sleep for about 2.5 hrs until next round of feeding commences. The only exception is a longer wakeful time in the evening when he wants a much longer feed ( I think this is pretty common) and we do a bath / top and tail and change. At night I don't talk to him unless he's really upset and he's usually quite happy to be put in his moses basket straight after nappy change to go back to sleep on his own.

This seems to be pretty much baby whisperer pattern anyway (though 4 hrs rather than 3), but he somehow got himself into it, as I've only just started reading the book!

Speaking of which, he's stirring for the next feed, so I'm off!

Hope you are all taking it easy and enjoying this precious time with your little ones.
