Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
JazzieJeff · 13/10/2010 17:40

Well well well it's all been going on here!

jenko don't worry about the size of your baby; the midwife said similar to me and our baby should be about 7 lbs ish according to the last scan. When I mentioned this to the midwife she went "see? Told you he wouldn't be small!" so I think she probably just meant he was healthy and not to worry

dilly how exciting!

Had to go in for fetal monitoring today at the hospital because I only felt one movement in 24 hrs. All was fine, and the midwife noticed I was having regular contractions on the monitor! Sure enough, when she did a stretch and sweep I was 2-3 cm dilated! Hurrah! Been sent home to jiggle/coax baby out some more. Hopefully not too far away! She couldn't feel a mucus plug so she said I've probably had a bloody show and I've not noticed. Went to sainsburys after hospital and pains definitely felt more assertive so fingers crossed eh?!

Keep posting everyone, it's so good to know I'm not alone! X

DillyDora · 13/10/2010 17:42

hurray jazzie good luck!

babybunting2010 · 13/10/2010 18:09

hi jazzie i've just had my mw appointment and was told i'm 1cm so very excited though would have been great if she said 2-3! Any suggestions on how to jiggle them out or does that come down to the gym ball? X

JazzieJeff · 13/10/2010 18:17

babyb I'm bouncing like crazy on my gym ball! Midwife said to take a bath as well

dilly how's it going at your end?

Jenko77 · 13/10/2010 18:22

Wow, it's all happening with you guys. Thanks for the reassurance re: baby size - I think it's going to hurt however big it is - and the midwife did also mention that I had a roomy pelvis, so all should be fine!

Good luck Dilly Jazzie and BabyB - please keep us posted as things progress!

babybunting2010 · 13/10/2010 19:18

I've got to ask does it actually mean you should bounce as in... Like when kids bounce on space hoppers or gently bounce? X

Jacksmybaby · 13/10/2010 19:36

OOOOH it's all getting v exciting all the best Jazzie babyb and Dilly!

Hevster · 13/10/2010 20:59

good luck ladies, can't wait to welcome you to the world of the sleep deprived Grin

hmmm... Just been doing some googling and found that being 1cm can mean squat! Apparently some people are 1cm for weeks! Oh well there was me getting all excited over nothing! Can't believe i'm entering 40+4 tomorrow! :( x

JazzieJeff · 13/10/2010 21:46

babyb I alternate between bouncing like a lunatic (DH got one too and we raced them across the living room together) and gently rocking my hips back and forth or just sitting there. I dunno, I think if you were 1cm at 37 weeks you might have a point, but at 40+3 it's all to play for. Have you got any contractions?

Lying in bed with my TENS machine. It's a nice machine :-)

babybunting2010 · 14/10/2010 08:17

kind of getting funny feelings down there feel a bit like period pain and a bit achy but nothing exciting! Will get to bouncing like a lunatic this morning then and think i'm going to go do some christmas shopping! Get those hips going, x

KFW · 14/10/2010 08:47

Wow! Best of luck to all of you for whom there is action going on!

Nothing exciting to report here yet, but she is only due in 9 days, so I am not really expecting anything quite yet.

Keep us updated! Grin

YummyMummy1208 · 14/10/2010 10:15

Morning All, Just checking in as its been a while since my last post! - whod have thought id have less time on my hands once starting maternity leave?!

Well no news my end, although i have 11 days yet till D-Day but my predictions were that she would come a week or 2 early so im slowly losing faith in that! The closer i get to D-Date the more im worrying i could go over- something i totally am not prepared for due to me being 2 days early last time! and the thought that every day over means baby is getting bigger when im already picturing a 10lber coming out rite now! :(

Exciting to hear lots of you are looking v.close - Jazzie and BabyB keep us updated!

Jacksmybaby · 14/10/2010 11:35

Hey everyone remember Daynee? I've just seen on FB that she had her DD (Scarlett Rose) on 10.10.10! Hope she doesn't mind me sharing her news on here?!!

RooBear · 14/10/2010 13:43

hello everyone, I've just left her a message jacks so congrats to daynee and babyroo! I'm getting very impatient now as I'm constantly achey but have no other syptoms. I'm only 38+5 so know that there could be a while yet Sad its like i'm permantly waking up on christmas eve!

Jenko77 · 14/10/2010 13:55

It's my due date today..... and nothing. Not even so much as an ache. Last night I kept dreaming that I was having contractions, then waking up and realising it was all a dream. Hey ho, there's only so much longer it can last in there, and I'm still enjoying being pregnant - just trying to make the most of every movement and bout of hicups because I know I'll miss it when it's gone.

Good luck to all who are feeling things starting - keep bouncing and keep us posted!

KFW · 14/10/2010 14:49

hey roobear. You and me both. I am 38+5 too. It does all seem like an age away, but I am sure we'll get there soon! I have just had my parents staying for two days. It was so nice. And so weird. They have recently retired so it was really strange us just sitting around and pottering about - with none of us at work. I could get used to mat leave Grin

YummyMummy1208 · 14/10/2010 15:23

You and me 3! im 38+3 and every evening wen i get into my lying down on the sofa for the night position i start obsessing over every twinge thinking - is this a contraction?! Sadly none of them ever are! But we know its days now rather than weeks hopefully. I need her to stay in there a few more days anyhow, just bought a memory card for my new camera on ebay and need it to arrive before i go into labour or ill miss the birth pictures! Grin

Hope you're not too miserable Jenko, if i get to my due date with nothing im going to lock myself indoors because i know i wont be v.sociable to all those 'when are you due?' comments! But like you say, enjoy those last moments of LO in your belly, i cried the first time i heard DS1 hiccuping simply cos the last time he had the hiccups he was in my belly and i missed it....post birth emotions mixed in there i think! Grin

Hope everyones ticking along ok...

babybunting2010 · 15/10/2010 08:30

I know exactly how you're all feeling except that i'm 40+5 and still no sign of anything happening. Spent most of last crying about being so fed up and uncomfortable! :( x

YummyMummy1208 · 15/10/2010 09:02

Hope youre ok babyb, at least you know you have a week or so max and you will be you again...plus a gorgeous LO. I can not wait to not be pregnant again!

Jenko77 · 15/10/2010 10:31

Poor BabyB. I'm frustrated at being overdue, but at least I'm still enjoying being pregnant.

I just didn't realise that the days and nights could be so loooooong!!! Seriously, in the early days of pregnancy the weeks were flashing by, but now every hour feels like a day. I'm sure at my next midwife appointment she'll tell me that it's all in my mind, there's no baby and actually I'm just fat.

I'm only 40+1, but it feels like I'm weeks overdue already. Please come out today baby.... I can't wait to meet you! Smile

KFW · 15/10/2010 10:33

Oh babyb don't give up hope! Things can change incredibly quickly. One of my NCT girlies was a few days over with no signs of anything - and utterly fed up - and then all of a sudden things progressed very quickly indeed.

I can feel your pain. I have had enough and I have been doing this for a week less than you. Chin up lady, and focus on that glass of wine at the end. Smile

Jacksmybaby · 15/10/2010 12:15

Hang in there babyb, Jenko and anyone else that's overdue, you're very nearly there! xx

babybunting2010 · 15/10/2010 14:54

Just had my midwife appointment, still can't do sweep as cervix too high and baby not engaged. Going to be at least a week or so! Won't induce either! :(

Just to warn you all I broke my mobile yesterday which I generally used to access the internet and have sent it to be mended, therefore if I don't come on line for ages it's probably not due to giving birth. Am going to set up my sister in law being able to access facebook to say when we've had the stubborn little bugger so if someone sees it could they post on here for me!

Thanks
xxx

PatsyIsPreggers · 15/10/2010 15:04

hi all

just read your post babybunting and i'm in pretty much the same position so I can really sympathise. Saw MW just beofre lunch and she tried to do a sweep, but said my cervix didn't seem to have started to thin or soften yet, so she held out very little hope of it working. Sad

Had really got my hopes up that it would work and we'd be meeting our little Lizzie or Harry soon, but now it seems unlikely to be for another week yet. Feel so disappointed. Having a little blub to myself.

According to the MW though, the best way to get things started now will be lots of sex, so just got to persuade DH to come near me, a huge hormonal wreck! Perhaps if I cook him some lamb chops for dinner. The way to his heart is definitely through his stomach!
