Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

I have to say that I agree with you Dilly: the thought of curry is not a good one. I really don't fancy it.

Has it occurred to anyone else that men might be responsible for thinking up these so-called labour inducing remedies... curry, sex... it's my DH's idea of heaven.

DillyDora · 12/10/2010 08:50

pig semen... Hmm

DillyDora · 12/10/2010 09:12

(er if anyone is wondering why I posted that it's cos I found out that the prostaglandin pessaries are derived from pig semen....eeeuw)

JazzieJeff · 12/10/2010 10:43

dilly eww that's gross lol!

Actually I've been alright for indigestion; I just don't get heartburn. Never have actually. I mean, if I stuff my face my tummy feels a bit bloated sometimes but that's it. The curry was lush, but it didn't do anything :-( officially overdue today, got an appointment with the midwife at 1pm today so hopefully they'll be able to offer me some assistance. That'd be quite nice! Been and got my nails done this morning so i feel pretty again... Or at least my hands do! They've been looking a bit chubby of late though, my wedding ring is definately tighter.

Hope everyone is feeling well this morning, I feel ridiculously energetic... So much so I actually tackled the ironing before this mornings nail appointment. I also polished the skirting boards. What the hell is wrong with me?! Why cant I just put my feet up?!

DillyDora · 12/10/2010 10:49

O jazzie I envy you the energy! (and the pretty nails!) I have just never got that burst of nesting energy - maybe that's related to the bp or maybe it's cos I've only got to 38+5.... DH is most disappointed!

Jenko77 · 12/10/2010 11:18

Just been catching up on the thread.

Oh dear Dilly I hope you're coming to terms with the induction - it's obviously the best thing for you and the baby, and so exciting that (fingers crossed) you'll be home with your baby by the weekend! Smile Just don't think too much about the pig semen ShockConfused.

Think I may have had a show this morning - (TMI alert) it was more brown tinged than red tinged though, so I'm monitoring regularly to see what's going on 'down there'! Been generally achey the last day or two, but probably been overdoing things. I'm due on 14th, so I might be looking too hard for possible labour symptoms.

Jazzie A burst of energy and nesting are also signs of something imminent. Perhaps it's best to sit down with a cuppa and try to conserve that energy - just in case!

Jacksmybaby · 12/10/2010 13:39

Hey everyone. Dilly, hope u are ok. No experience of induction so no words of advice there, however my one thought on the whole process and the medical intervention etc is that at the end of the day it really doesn't matter how your LO gets out as long as it is safely for both of you. (Yeah, I know, easy for me to say now I know I never have to go through it again Grin!)

Any progress for Jenko, Jazzie or anyone else?

x

JazzieJeff · 12/10/2010 14:54

Oh, sodding hell. Went all the way up to the doctors only to find I've got my days wrong. It's not Wednesday at all today, is it? It's Tuesday and my midwife appointment isn't until tomorrow Blush

Jenko77 · 12/10/2010 15:48

Oh Jazzie that did make me laugh Grin. At least you can blame your pregnancy brain (make the most of that one!).

No progress here - think I'm clutching at straws a bit. MW appointment tomorrow, so hopefully she'll give me a progress report.

I just spent the last half hour practicing putting a nappy on a teddy, teddy in the car seat and adjusting the straps, dismantling the pushchair etc - I haven't played at being 'mummy' since I was a kid, but I think I did OK. Smile

babybunting2010 · 12/10/2010 17:19

sorry all haven't read up on the posts but i'm not sure if i haven't just had my first contraction! Hope i'm not tempting fait but just had an almighty shooting pain down there where i bent over double and couldn't get words out of my mouth at all! It bloody hurt so i'm kind of hoping it wasn't a contraction as wasn't expecting it to hurt that much! Ouch. Will let you know if anything else happens! X

Jacksmybaby · 12/10/2010 17:42

Ooooh babyb keep us updated!

Jazzie at least you turned up a day early not a day late!

Jenko Grin at your practising!

babybunting2010 · 12/10/2010 18:04

Hevster · 12/10/2010 18:18

baby thats how mine started with DD1 so don't give up hope Smile

Jazzie bummer getting the wrong day, no consolation but what's left of your brain turns to mush post baby

Jenko good effort on the practice,I need some too DD2 has now pooed on my hand twice and daily wees mid nappy change - DD1 never once behaived in such a rude manner in the whole 2.5 years of nappies Shock

OP posts:
Jacksmybaby · 12/10/2010 18:46

Hev, we are getting lots of mid nappy change wees here too - but at least with baby girls, unlike with boys, you don't get it in the face Grin.

babybunting2010 · 12/10/2010 19:02

god i hope so hevster! But am thinking 2 hours between each is probably a little on the lines of wishful thinking! :( x

Hevster · 12/10/2010 20:15

Jacks yuck to little boys! DD1 thought she would wee like a boy at 6am this morning so stood on her step and peed on the floor before I realised what she meant, she now understands why girls sit down!

OP posts:
JazzieJeff · 12/10/2010 20:16

Ugh I know what a state I am lol! My brain is mush already hev if it gets any worse I'll have to be committed to an institution or something.

jenko good effort with all the practicing! Hope your LO is as obliging as the teddy bear...

babyb I had two absolutely cracking contractions the other night, it felt like the horrible cramps you get in your calves sometimes but in my tummy. I literally could not move. Even if it's not labour, at least your uterus knows what it's doing and getting some practice I guess!

BabyRoosMum · 12/10/2010 22:17

Hi All,
Have just jumped on the computer ever so briefly to update you all on our news....
My little baby boy, Archi Lennon was born on 6th Oct at 5:45am weighing 7lb 15...was only in labour for 5 and a half hours and had the perfect home birth with no pain relief....baby was delivered by the midwife and DP as labour was so quick, the second midwife didn't arrive in time. We've had a bit of a hectic week but I have loved every minute of it! Grin Grin Grin
I know I was super lucky with every bit of the labour shinanigans but I definitely think home births are the bees knees! How lovely it was to call everybody on wednesday morning before they went to work to tell them that our little boy had arrived 3 days earlier than expected! And we were able to stay in our bedroom for the first couple of days-no visits to hospital at all :) Now whenever Archi gets "overstimulated" I can take him up to the room he was born and he is immediately eased by it...
Sorry to hear of those that are overdue...have skim-read everybody's posts and promise to jump back online soon and have a proper read...good luck all!

babybunting2010 · 13/10/2010 10:02

oh babyrm that's fantastic, so glad to hear it went so well! X

DillyDora · 13/10/2010 10:19

Morning all - so today's the day (well, the beginning...) finally had a good night's sleep - almost 12 hours. Amazing acupuncture session yesterday and chats with the mw so feeling much much better. Bring it on!

Sorry for your muddly head jazzie I do that sort of think Grin,

CONGRATULATIONS BabyroosMum what heaven - that birth sounds so brilliant.

Loving your work jenko we did have a practice with bear and sling, and bear and bouncy chair...

and good luck babyb for some action!!

Ok, DH and I are going to dye my hair now as a distraction....this could go either way!
xxx

Hevster · 13/10/2010 10:24

JazzieJeff · 13/10/2010 11:48

Thinking of you dilly hope it goes well for you

Congratulations babyroosmum it all sounds so lovely so pleased for you :-)

Jenko77 · 13/10/2010 12:44

Congratulations BabyRoosMum, and good luck to Dilly.

I've just got back from the midwife where we booked in for induction on 26th if nothing has happened beforehand. I also made the mistake of asking what sort of size baby is - I was told "not small!" Hmm Yikes!

DillyDora · 13/10/2010 16:02

Crikey! I don't think people should be allowed to alarm you like that Jenko! We've been told our bub is small, but we were both small babies though we're tall now...

Thanks for all the good wishes, been having period painy feelings all day, bit of a show earlier.. and now I must must eat macaroni cheese Hmm
