Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

DillyDora · 02/10/2010 20:22

HI all! Just checking in to say hi, not quite the happy pickle I'd like to be, feeling pretty rough and spent a few hours in hospital with high BP on Fri which has knocked my confidence a bit. One more week at work (unless my feet actually burst, then presumably I can't go in!! They are so huge and support stockings just make me look like a string of sausages....) and so much to do, big family outing today and I was just so tired. Bah... Birth centre assessment on Weds, wish me luck that they will clear me as low risk....

Lovely to hear you all sounding so chirpy, cheered me up! Grin

YummyMummy1208 · 03/10/2010 18:46

Hi Dilly, sorry to here you've been feeling crappy. to make u feel a little better, i suffered with high bp at the end last time around, legs and face swelled up like mad but everything still went fine so im sure u will still be classed as low risk .:) chin up!

I feel so relieved to think that its now october, when i heard the guy on CeeBeeBies say its the third of October i had a little twinge of excitement - the end is here, at last i can look forward to not being pregnant anymore! Even if i will have a screaming demanding baby and lots of sleepless nights, no baby in my belly! Grin

We now have a new squeak free bed which isnt so low my belly almost touches my toes before i manage to haul myself out of it! - only a cheap second hand one as were off to canada in 8 months but last night was bliss! And now we can risk turning over in bed without waking either one of our babies!

I have finally finished work! :) Although i did like my job and am a little sad about the fact i wont be returning to work for a very long time, how on earth will i entertain DS1 for the next 3 weeks 5 days a week?! Suggestions welcome!
So me and OH started the bumpy road ritual this afternoon, last time i went down that road i was 39+3 with my first and the morning after went into labour! So we will be taking lots of trips down there over the next few weeks in the hope it may help move things along! Anyone else started trying any of the tricks to get baby out yet?

Hevster · 03/10/2010 20:55

Yummy opposite to you, desperately hoping to keep baby in place for the next 36 hrs so we make it to the ELCS on Tues morning, keep waking up in the night and having huge sighs of relief that it's DD waking me up and not DD2!

OP posts:
Jenko77 · 04/10/2010 08:14

Hev Can't believe you only have one more night until you meet your DD2.

Dilly I hope you perk up and feel a bit chirpier soon - good luck for Wednesday!

I'm 38+4 today, and I had a bad back all day yesterday and thought it might be the start of something.... but no. Still got a cold, and a bit worried about going into labour when I can hardly breathe as it is!! But DH and I are getting so excited about meeting our LO, that we just want it to happen now.

Yummy I'm on raspberry leaf tea to see if that kickstarts anything. Fingers crossed!

Hope everyone has a good (productive? Wink) week! Smile

Jacksmybaby · 04/10/2010 08:39

All the best for tomorrow Hevster. Will be thinking of you. Smile

babybunting2010 · 04/10/2010 09:34

hi all, hope you are all well. I hear you with the swelling feet etc... I'm 39+1 at the moment my one foot is really swollen and my other foot makes the swollen one look tiny. It's mad. Plus to top it off i've got carple tunnel (sorry about the spelling) which is now keeping me awake constantly it's so painful! Oh well less of the moaning. I hope anything is ok we haven't heard from her in weeks. Jacks i hope the gorgeous new arrival isn't keeping you too busy. Yummy yep am on gym ball sipping raspberry tea constantly but no such luck yet. Hevster good luck tomorrow. Can't wait to hear the birth announcement. X

RooBear · 04/10/2010 13:22

well first day of maternity leave and I've done 3 loads of washing, cleaned the worktops and loaded the dishwasher and tided the living room whats next? Grin I'll run out of things at this rate if I go over

DillyDora · 04/10/2010 15:29

Roo you can come and clean my place ;0)

So, had my check up and it turns out I've been getting progressively more and more anaemic - not very very but probably enough to make me feel rough so I'm home with Floradix and some red meat and spinach and hoping to feel much much better soon Grin Thanks yummy for the encouragement about the swelling! It is awful, babyb I really sympathise.

Good luck for tomorrow Hevster

YummyMummy1208 · 04/10/2010 16:01

Well same as u RooBear, first day of maternity leave and have had a very productive day! Spent most of the morning cleaning in the kitchen, then did a round of painting with DS1 and made a cheesecake which i am yet to taste due to morning sickness (yes its back!). Just got back from trip to the library to get myself another book to keep me entertained at night!

So now i am totally paying for my active day, bad back ache and i feel like ill be making a run to the sink any minute to throw up. :(

I could get used to this no working lark! Grin

Good luck for tomorrow Hevster, im so jealous you get to meet your LO in 24 hours!

Hevster · 04/10/2010 17:30

thanks for all the good wishes folks - am bricking it now, but focusing on how great it will be not to be pregnant, can't quite get my head round the fact that we meet LO tomorrow, all a bit wierd.

for those of you enjoying mat leave, make the most of it, life will never be the same again and don't worry all the swollen feet shrink pretty quick after birth.

Jacks hope you are feeling better

OP posts:
KFW · 04/10/2010 17:39

Hev good luck tomorrow. I will be thinking of you. Exciting times Smile.

Dilly I hope you feel better soon.

Jenko - I am thinking of starting on the R leaf tea now.

Oh, and by the way, I started my mat leave today! It was unexpectedly early (but I'm still 37+2) because I was vomitting and had other gut nasties this morning Sad but happily I think it was just a small bug (at least there doesnt seem to be any sign of the baby yet...). Anyway, I decided to can work 3 days early. No point in them paying me to achieve nothing and for me to feel guilty for not working, so here I am. Grin Unlike you Roo, I have achieved nothing today though - I've been feeling too sick. I am feeling much better this afternoon though and am confident that tomorrow I will be on form to enjoy day one proper of mat leave Grin

BEST WISHES TO YOU HEV

YummyMummy1208 · 04/10/2010 19:26

Im the same as you KFW, was fine all day then around 4/5pm suddenly came over feeling sick and have been running to the sink ever since! :( Feels as though i have a bad hangover or something which is weird as i dont know whats caused it. Only thing i could have eaten that was dodgy was a sausage sandwich but i cooked them the same as i always cook them - luckily DS1 didnt eat his dinner so never touched them just incase it was the sausages?

Feel so poorly, need OH to come back from the gym to look after me.

Hevster · 04/10/2010 21:45

KFW qnd Yummy hope you both feel better soon and can enjoy tomorrow.

we are having last minute panic about a middle name and I am too scared to go to bed as half of me doesn't want it to be the morning!

OP posts:
BabyRoosMum · 04/10/2010 21:54

Hevster Good luck for tomorrow!

JazzieJeff · 05/10/2010 12:08

Best of luck hev, not that you need it! Hope you have a really lovely lovely day. I'm so envious of you meeting your LO; I want mine now lol!

KFW and yummy hope your horrible tummy bugs go soon, that sounds awful. Hope you both have someone to come and do everything for you... Preferably your DP's!

dilly that sucks they didn't pick up your anemia sooner :-( still, not long to go now. Have they put you on any iron supplements or anything?

Can't believe my due date is only 6 days away! Feel like I'm totally prepped now and just waiting on LO which sucks. I've resolved to have a manicure and a pedicure every week until he arrives; even booked a danger appointment next Tuesday for after my stretch and sweep haha! At least I'll have pretty fingers and toes, even if the rest of me is a gasping mess. The pedicure seems to slow the swelling in my feet as well which is great. There are also reflexology points under your ankles which are linked to the cervix as well, so apparently massaging those can help bring on labour... Not worked yet but it still feels lovely regardless!

Hope everyone has a great day
Xxx

DillyDora · 05/10/2010 12:33

Hooray! Well done Hevster LOVE the name!

Thanks Jazzie, they did mention it was getting low last Monday, I just didn't react to it enough, even DH is kicking himself as I had so many symptoms and he's a trained nurse so .... Anyhoo, all will be well soon I hope - I'll just eat better and take m'Floradix (yeugh). Have to be honest the mw also told me to ditch work right now and I know she's right... might rejig so I wfh Thursday, and only commute and do training/teaching tomorrow and Friday. And then I'm off (at 38 weeks, what a daft idea...)

Jazzie love the mani-pedi idea as well, I really need a hair dye appt and a leg wax....

BabyRoosMum · 05/10/2010 13:12

Hevster Contragulations to you! What a lovely name! Hope you are all taking care...oooo jealous and excited and scared all at once now :)

I'm sad today that my dp has put a photo on facebook of me and all my friends have commented that I am huge and several are asking if it's twins....I think I look OK (not great obviously!) and when we went out for a walk round the shops last night, I wore my fave maxi dress which is size 12 from new look non-maternity...made me feel much better about myself! Bloody friends....I mean "friends" :( Will continue to hibernate in my pyjamas and wait for my bambino....

Jacksmybaby · 05/10/2010 13:40

Congratulations Hevster!!! Hurray! Well done you. Smile

I had a pedi booked for 22nd Sept which ended up being the day after DD was born so had to be cancelled! Must re-book now! So yes, good idea to book stuff in now as it's bound to mean your babies will arrive to scupper your plans Grin.

KFW · 05/10/2010 14:48

CONGRATULATIONS HEVSTER That is fantastic news. Lovely name - and healthy weight too. You must be thrilled.

I am feeling much, much better today thanks. It was clearly a 24 hour thing. I am feeling very industrious. I have made 3x shepherd's pie - one for tonight and 2 for the freezer. I have also done lots of ironing and laundry. I'll probably run out of things to do soon! DH has told me to go to bed, but to be honest I am so uncomfortable lying down that I'd rather try and push on through so that I stand a chance of being tired enough to sleep properly tonight. It's all good training for the sleepless nights ahead I suppose Smile

DillyDora · 05/10/2010 14:52

babyroosmum people are IDIOTS ignore them... ,

PatsyIsPreggers · 05/10/2010 14:55

Congratulations Hevster. Lucky you getting to meet your daughter. Grin

On maternity leave for 2 days now (plus 2 days hols last week) and already going up the wall looking for things to do. House has never been so clean and I'm going to every aquanatal class within a 15 mile radius! Not due until the 17th, but next MW appointment is on 15th and she has already offered to do a sweep then, so will have a think about that...

I've really enjoyed being pregnant, but just so excited and can't wait to meet the LO now. Perhaps if I take all you advice and book a pedi, that will be the day!

JazzieJeff · 05/10/2010 19:02

Congratulations hevster and what a lovely name! Hope you're feeling alright and not too sore... Even if you are a bit sore I bet you don't care though lol!

babyroosmum people are losers, they don't even think before they speak. Who says that to a pregnant lady?! You know you're doing fine though, just keep that maxi dress in mind.

Had my friend over for the afternoon and we just lounged around drinking tea and chatting for like 4 hours which was great. She's my LO's godmother (or will be) and so shes super excited and has bought him loads of cute clothes already.

Got a pedi tomorrow as well going to get the beautician to pummel those reflexology points to within an inch of their lives! Would be lovely if it works...

babybunting2010 · 05/10/2010 22:28

hev i'm so pleased for you congratulationrs! I'm also really jealous! Haven't had much chance to read through but for those suffering hope you feel better soon! :) got a question for you all... What does the show look like and what does it mean. All day when i've been to the loo when i wipe myself it looks like i've really really blown my nose in the tissue... Sorry too much info but any advice would be great! X

Jenko77 · 06/10/2010 07:55

Congratulations Hev. Nice healthy weight too.

I'm loving maternity leave, getting lots done and catching up with friends, but still not had a day of doing nothing but eat cake and drink tea... must schedule that in for one day next week! I'm 38+6 now, and seeing the midwife later today - hopefully she'll tell me something is imminent though as I really don't want to go overdue. I'm not suffering at all, and am totally loving pregnancy, but I'm just getting so excited about becoming a mum!!Grin

BabyB That sounds promising. A show is a mucus plug so that sounds like what you are seeing. It means the cervix is starting to open (I think) so it's the start of something. Could be a few days yet, but sounds like the big event is kicking off!! (not at all Envy)
