Well ladies, it's a bit in advance but here is the new thread, started especially early for Saartjie!

Got my TENS machine now (and did not laugh when DH was saying yesterday...'shall we get your tense machine out? you're a bit tense' not funny, DH, just a mad German joke...) but won't be licking the batteries or nuffing, sorry Jazzie I'm just too much of a wuss.

Sitting at m'desk...it's not the most fun a person can have...trying though...Finish work next Friday....

PatsyIsPreggers · 28/09/2010 17:00

Congratulations to those who have popped! Makes it seem so much closer and more real now Grin

Last day at work tomorrow, so going to be a late one tonight to get everything finished. Just thought I'd stop in here and say hello before I get back to it. Sad

Still, after lunch tomorrow I'll be a free woman for a whole year Wink if you can count having a baby attached to your boob for half the time 'free'!

cheekymonkeyno3 · 28/09/2010 19:00

Evening all, hope everyone has had a good day with not too many aches and pains.

spent another day packing boxes today and have to admit i may have overdone it so feeling shattered now.

DH is out tonight tho so about to have a nice long soak and an early night with a book. bliss :)

YummyMummy1208 · 28/09/2010 19:52

i wish i shared your thinking KFW altho i cant wait for her to come out now, sick of hobbling round like an old lady!
A simple shopping trip to tesco had me in bits today, so annoying and cant wait to get back to normal.

Well done on the tens machine dilly, im thinking i should really test mine out soon as i bought it off ebay and dont have a clue if it actually works! Im sure it does but an 'organised' person would test it im sure. And i need to get those back up batteries incase i wear the first ones out!

First day at work this week tomorrow, quite sad and stressful actually, 3 days left and i secretly know i wont be returning although those at work dont so may be a bit confused as to why im so emotional! Grin

When are you moving cheekymonkey? God i dont think i could handle that on top of this uncomfortablness! you sound like uv been v.busy lately, dont go and overdo it now will u! enjoy ur few last weeks of rest. :)

RooBear · 29/09/2010 10:55

Morning all, decided to ask my boss if I can finish work this friday rather than next. I'm getting really tired and have bad backache too. I'll be 37wks when I leave, I won't get too bored if I go to 42wks will I?

KFW · 29/09/2010 11:06

yummy I am also hobbling around and am embarrassingly slow at getting up from a seat, but I still fancy a some me time before little miss arrives Smile. My DH laughed at me yesterday in the middle of the night when I was trying to get up for a wee. He said it looked like a tortoise up the wrong way. Not very elegant. It's bloody difficult isn't it?!

roo I don't think you'll get bored. You are unlikely to go as long as 2 weeks over aren't you anyway? I am sure that you can do nesting things like cook lots of spag bol/stew/soup for the freezer, read books, soak your feet, catch up with any friends on mat leave (do you have any near you?). I am jealous that you are now finishing before me Smile Bring on next Wednesday I say!

Jacksmybaby · 29/09/2010 13:18

Haha yes KFW I can identify re tortoise I am feeling a bit like this at the mo trying to get up out of bed / out of the bath with my c section scar!

Roo definitely a good plan, get some rest and chill out now while you can (I'm sure you're sick of everybody saying this to you! Grin).

Hope everyone else is well. All fine here, other than that I'm coming down with a cold and cough which is NOT what you want after abdominal surgery (feels like I am about to burst open every time I cough Confused).

no word from anything... hope she is ok.

balletmoo how are you getting on? Hope DS is doing well.

We must be due some more babies any time now... all very exciting...!!!

KFW · 29/09/2010 15:40

jacks that sounds sore. is it healing ok generally though? on the whole i have only heard rave reviews about c-sections, so i am sure you'll have a speedy recovery. sorry you have a cold. that's the last thing you need!

i am curious too, who is next to pop? i have my growth scan tomorrow and am hoping that the little monster isnt quite as top of the charts as she was last time!

RooBear · 29/09/2010 16:04

ok people I need advice, I've mentioned the back pain but now I'm getting a mild pain at the bottom of my stomach and top of my pelvis, I also feel nauseous. The baby is head down and in the 'right' position but I don't know if its engaged, the MW said she had difficulty finding it but nothing was in my notes. I need the loo a bit more than before and the baby has definately dropped. Is there anything else I should be looking out for? I don't want to give birth at work! Smile

YummyMummy1208 · 29/09/2010 16:43

Oo that sounds exciting RooBear! - do you think you may be starting the first stage of labour? I so wish i would hurry up and go into labour, every twinge i have in my pelvis makes me gete xcited. Keep us updated on those pains under your bump, thats where my pains started when i went into labour with DS1.

Hope things are going well Jacks, although having a cough with a scar to heal on your stomach sounds painful! Hope it goes soon for you.

My belly is actually numb now its stretched so much. Not nice.

cheekymonkeyno3 · 29/09/2010 17:41

hello all.

i've just posted this on the other thread and thought i would share it here too.

i'm sure everyone is getting nervous but excited with every new twinge or pain and thinking is it time? (and i know all about false labour - what a pain!) but please please if you are at all concerned speak to your midwife or go to hospital!

my story DC1 + DC2:
had really chronic back pain and went into hospital only to be told i wasn't having contractions, sent home to have a bath!
anyway went back 2 hours later insisted someone checked me over (getting scared now) and i was 9cms.

was the same start with DC2!! i didnt have any contractions that could be timed until right at the end.

anyway i'm not trying to scare anyone but just a warning that every labour is different and you know your body best!!!

who knows what will happen this time - complete opposite maybe.

Hevster · 29/09/2010 19:27

Jacks hope cough etc clears up soon, can't be nice laughing with a scar let alone anything else!

Spent most of the day at Salisbury day assessment unit as the community midwife decided that the baby was measuring small and not moving enough - however she is just fine which is a relief but means I have achieved nothing today apart from finishing my book Grin

Roo I feel like that too and have done for nearly a week - at first I thought baby might be coming but now I think it's just crappy end of pregnancy aches and pains etc.

Don't want baby to put in appearance before next tues (section date) as it's DD's 3rd birthday on sat and I don't want to mess that up for her

Jenko77 · 30/09/2010 08:10

Hi all,
Roo How are your aches and pains today? Was it the start of something?
Hev Good news that all is well with your LO - fingers crossed it stays put until next week.
KFW Good luck for your growth scan today.

I have had 3 busy days of maternity leave - cooking, shopping, cleaning, and now I have a stinking cold, which doesn't seem fair, but at least its forcing me to lay on the sofa all day and eat crap food Grin. I feel for you Jacks with a C-scar and a bad cough though, let alone coping with a newborn when you're feeling under the weather!

I'm due 2 weeks today and starting to get impatient now .... hope I don't go too far overdue - this waiting could get really frustrating and boring!

RooBear · 30/09/2010 09:02

Hi all, things have calmed down so it was just me being a moaning minnie! probably just my bodies way of telling me I'm doing the right thing leaving work tomorrow.

KFW · 30/09/2010 13:38

Thanks Jenko I am glad to hear that your mat leave is going well. - Although I think that you should do more of the relaxing and less of the work (well, less of the cleaning defintely!)

Roo I am pleased you are feeling a bit better. Enjoy your mat leave!

Re growth scan: everything seems to be good thanks! Smile I am pleased to report that Charlie Brown is now measuring as Little Miss Average, which is great to hear. Her face looked mighty squished on the scan though! There is clearly not much room in there anymore (not that I needed a scan to see that. I can bloody well feel it!).

YummyMummy1208 · 30/09/2010 19:05

Aww thats good news KFW. Glad to hear shes just the right size now so you can relax now. Cant wait to see midwife on monday to see if i need to have a growth scan as she said if i was still measuring outside the range next time i would have to have one so lets wait and see!

Im finishing work tomorrow aswell Roobear - my closest colleague isnt in tomorrow so they had a little gathering for me today and gave me some flowers, balloon and lots of little presents for baby. I felt so special! Grin So it almost felt like today was my last day when in fact i have so much work to fit into an 8hr day tomorrow i dont think ill get it all done!
Cant believe im actually sad about leaving. Is anyone else sad or is it just my hormones?

Well we have lots of baking on the cards for next week - cheesecake for a start, probably cupcakes and lots of other cakes i wont be able to fit into my already huge belly so what would you all like ladies?! Grin Put your orders in now.

Well my week is going exceptionally well, not many aches and pains today either, just lots of feet wriggling at the top of my belly!
Everyone else ok as we draw closer to D-Day?

Jacksmybaby · 30/09/2010 19:17

Ooh cupcakes for me please Yummy! I am giving myself a good few weeks' grace on the eating front before I start my post-natal healthy eating regime (and I figure I get a few extra bonus weeks considering she was early Grin).

Yes I felt quite emotional too leaving work but now it seems very distant; also feel quite smug when I check my work email (I only have a work email address so all my social emails come to that address too) and realise none of the work stuff is my problem!

KFW yes healing well on the whole; as a veteran of 2 EMCSs now I know the first couple of weeks are pretty rough but after that things improve hugely.

Hevster · 30/09/2010 19:51

Jacks - question, when you have the c-sect do you feel shitty afterwards as in just been sliced open, had operation etc or is it more that it hurts like . the point being am I going to not mind lying in so horrible hospital bed for a few hours because I feel gross or will I be my usual self and instantly frustrated that I can't get up?

Jenko77 · 01/10/2010 07:43

Hi all,
It's Friday Smile, and it's finally October Grin This is the month that it all happens! (I'm far too excited for this time of the morning!)

To those finishing work today - enjoy! I was sad when I left last week, but by the time I got home I was just feeling relief and excitment - no more pretending to work while obsessing about baby stuff all day!!

And Yummy I'll take a big chunk of that Cheesecake please...mmmmmm Grin

babybunting2010 · 01/10/2010 08:13

just wanted to pop by and say howdy! For those measuring large baby wise and being offered scans please don't expect them to do anything about it even if baby measures large ours is about 2cm above the larger line well over the 100th percentile but i'm being left to deliver naturally although will have a registrar present as they're expecting complications! Nice. :) i'm off out now to aqua natal i love the feeling of being weight less and normal for a few minutes! Yeah. Jacks... Just want to say you are my idol. :) c-section, new born, cold and yet you still sound happy and normal. I hope i cope as well as you are. X

KFW · 01/10/2010 11:18

jenko Well said: it's October!!! I can't believe it.

babyb try not to worry about your delivery. I am sure everything will be fine. - And those size scans are notoriously inaccurate. A colleague of mine delivered her first baby last year. The baby was almost 11 lb Shock and she managed it without an epidural and without a tear. I think that difficulties often have more to do with position than size.

Yummy I wouldn't say no to some cheesecake either!

Have a good Friday everyone Smile

BabyRoosMum · 01/10/2010 11:26

Hi All, re growth scans...also don't want to scare but a lady from work had one and all they said was "yes, your midwife is right, it is a big one!!" but didn't do anything....baby was 9lb 10 born and she went a couple of days over. This isn't much help but just so peeps don't get their hopes up that something (anything!) will be done!

I thought things might have been getting going last night...was having crampy pains/backache about every 50 mins to an hour...three times they got to the point where I couldn't stand up straight (had to nip to the loo in the middle of parentcraft class so I could "recover" and started to wonder about chances of waters going whilst I was still there :) ) So, this went on from 4pm til about 1am but since then nothing. DP wanted to go to buy the new FIFA xbox game at midnight so I went along with the thought that 1. A good way to pass the time if actually in early labour and 2. If waters go in Asda-free gifts galore?! In the end, I setttled for a Hungry catepillar babygro for baby roo with matching bib-possibly my fave purchase so far and would recommend everyone gets themselves down to asda-£6 well spent Grinbut sadly did not leave asda with a baby......

So, since then nothing but on the plus side, it is OCTOBER!!!!!! :) :) :) and I only have a week and a day til my due date, so the end is well and truely in sight... double Grin
It's properly drearly miserable rain in Manchester today so I'm not going anywhere-will have a snoop around the forums on here and possibly have a bath....happy October gang :) :) :)

Jacksmybaby · 01/10/2010 12:04

Hev - hmm, prpb more the former. 1st few hrs after = fairly blissful and pain frre ( morphine-induced high!) then gradually more and more shitty. Day 2 and 3 are the worst, and pain is worst on 1st getting up out of bed. Make sure you ask for drugs, they aren't always good at being pro-active on that front.

sorry typing with small baby in one arm!

happy birth-month all! x

Hevster · 01/10/2010 13:10

Jacks cheers, need drugs now as the little darling is back to back and the pain in my back is not good - glad having section now as DD was also back to back.

on a brighter note - last weekend without wine Grin Grin and the rare steak with blue cheese sauce is edging closer to reality.

Happy October all and have a great weekend
