So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

AprilMeadow · 13/09/2010 08:33

Heehee sorry ladies!!!

kveta · 13/09/2010 13:41

so what is centreparcs? I've never been, have no idea what it is, and having looked at the website am none the wiser. we're looking for somewhere for a wee jaunt in february next year, would you recommend it?

Oli managed 3 hrs sleep last night then a couple more hours in 15 minute chunks, just been down to nursery and he was running around like a headless chicken cackling, they said he hasn't slept this morning. I need a sedative for him. this is getting ridiculous. he's got 3 teeth visible under the gums at the moment though, so is miserable. he's getting calpol-d before bed tonight.

Ladyem · 13/09/2010 15:40

Centre parcs = Posh Butlins!! Grin We've never been, but the people I know who have been love it!

Poor Oli! Teething is awful. On the plus side, at least it sounds like he is loving the new nursery!! I've just calpoled my two as they have colds. Poor little mites. DD has been coughing for the last hour in her sleep. But at least the calpol helps them sleep and I can mumsnet get the housework done!!

LJ29 · 13/09/2010 16:01

Well Harry's had a lovely birthday but what on earth possessed me to buy noisey musical instruments for him?! Confused

Ladyem · 13/09/2010 16:10

Sorry, I didn't realise it was Harry's birthday today, too! Happy Birthday, Harry! Grin Glad that he has had a lovely day. And I just don't replace the batteries once they run out!! Blush Grin That sorts out the noise issue!!!

BerryLellow · 13/09/2010 16:50

Hello everyone :)

Happy birthday Harry too! Hope you have had a lovely day.

Congratulations April, lovely news. 4 children, wow. You are superwoman :o

Mads has got a cold so did not sleep last night. I am so tired from all the moving and birthdaying I could collapse into a dribbling heap... He had a great birthday though, and was thoroughly spoilt. It was a bit of a cupcake bonanza though, I'll have to put some photos on fb. Cupcake, anyone? :o

:o at Brantanamo bay. I wouldn't be surprised to be issued an orange jumpsuit as you walk into our local one, it's scary!

Right, if anyone asks, I wasn't here I'm still meant to be packaging away stuff for storage!

AprilMeadow · 13/09/2010 17:05

Happy Birthday Harry :o

Center Parcs is a good place to go if you like the outdoors. The basic cabins are BASIC so do try and go for the one thats at the top of your price range! I tend to go to Longleat but have also been to Elveden and Sherwood Forest. Longleat is the biggest and requires the most walking. There are lots of parks and nature trail type things. The pool is fabulous and the rapids for the adults are the BEST! Elveden is also very good and everything is about a 10-15min walk. Sherwood Forest is lovely also and i think i has the best childs pool section. Not been to Oasis Whinfell but know people who have and they love it.

Berry, good luck with the packing x

Thanks guys, we've had a lovely day although my living room looks like there has been a primary coloured plastic explosion!!

Teething and colds really are miserable aren't they. Definitely recommend Medised for helping with the sniffles and sleeping.

kveta · 13/09/2010 21:30

Ladyem · 14/09/2010 07:58

Glad you all had a lovely day, LJ!! I know what you men about the plastic explosion!! And where do you put all of these new toys?? I've had to clear out lots of old toys just to make space!!! They don't seem to have noticed!!

I used to use Mediced, but they won't let you buy it now for under 6's, so it's back to calpol. Sad J is all snotty and miserable today, buy luckily DD seems to be feeling a bit better. They are off to my Mum's today while we are at the funeral and she is a bit scared of colds, so I'm hoping J's nose dies up a bit before then!! I wouldn't normally take them visiting if they were ill, but needs must today, so fingers crossed that my Mum and her partner don't catch it!

Thanks for pasting the list, Kveta! Lots of names now bring back memories!! I had forgotten that Minshu and Mrswee had to hold out until October!! Shock

Are you going to post some of the official wedding pics on FB? I look forward to seeing them! In ours I have my mouth open on 90% of them as I couldn't stop chattering away to everyone!! Not the demure bride I had planned to be, more manic and over excited child!!! Grin

Tough day today and am looking forward to it being over. I still have nothing to wear. Being a SAHM means no smart suits or dresses in the wardrobe. I'm sure he wouldn't be bothered what I am wearing, but it seems strangely important at the minute. Probably distracting myself with unimportant stuff to try not to think about the big stuff.

AprilMeadow · 14/09/2010 08:35

Hope today goes as well as it can LadyEm. I'm sure your Grandad will think you look perfect in whatever you wear :)

BerryLellow · 14/09/2010 09:07

Thinking of you today Ladyem, hope it goes as well as can be expected.

Medised used to be my saviour too, it would be perfect now. Instead we're having to load up with calpol, nurofen, bonjela, teething powder and vicks. Both Mads and I are covered with his snot (nice) but I've given up changing everytime as I appear to be his walking hanky Hmm

I wonder what happened to everyone else off the list...

AprilMeadow · 14/09/2010 09:27

I guess in a lucky sort of way medised never worked on my children so i dont miss not having it! However, what has changed in the ingredients to make it now not suitable....? How can they go from saying 2 years+ to a massive 4 year jump...?

Calpol is our friend and knocks the dd's out :o

LJ29 · 14/09/2010 11:48

When did the change with Medised happen then? I bought it only a couple of weeks ago.

LJ29 · 14/09/2010 11:54

Right, have just done a quick google and it would seem that the official advice from Medised manufacturers is that it is not suitable for children under 2. This is not becuase of any safety fears but just that they are vulnerable to the effects of overdose if too much is given.

Personally I have always followed the dosage guidelines and have given it to all 3 of mine without complication so I don't think I will stop using it now. will just need to be economical with the truth if i am asked what age it is for! Suprised I wasn't asked recently though and there are still dosage guidlines for under 2's on the bottle so a bit confusing! Confused

kveta · 14/09/2010 12:05

gah, wrote post and computer crashed. stupid mac.

ladyem - I hope today is as good as it can be. Hopefully Joseph will be miraculously snot free for your mum too!

I have put my proper wedding pics up on FB, but haven't included all the ones where I'm pulling a moronic expression - just a few of them :o

we're not using calpol as much as I'd like - DH is really against us using it, so poor Oli has to tough it out. Not sure why DH is so anti drugging the baby, when he reaches for the lemsip at the first sign of a sniffle, but hey ho. I'm not one for self medicating much, so can't really insist on it for the boy. He's heavily into his latest cold now, which turns out to be a new one - in other words, I've gone down with yet another bloody cold. grr. Oli is flinging and smearing snot everywhere he goes, which is delightful. had another bad night last night, so may calpol him before bed tonight in the vain hope that he stays asleep for more than 2 hours at a stretch.

Ladyem · 14/09/2010 18:24

Hi all, thanks for the messages. It went as well as could be expected and it was nice to see family that I haven't seem for a while. Home now and shattered, so a nice cosy evening for us, I hope!! J's nose is like a tap and he is not happy, so I've just given the calpol in the hope that by bedtime he will be feeling a bit better and go down ok!

Re: the Medised thing, I was told by Boots that the reason that they have changed the age is because some (probably 2!!) children had reacted to the antihistamine in it. Firstly it was put up to that age of 2, when DD was about 22 months, tho I continued to buy it as she looked over 2, but when I last went in it had changed to 6 years, so they wouldn't sell it and I had already told them her age, so I couldn't get away with telling them she was 6!! Grin May be certain chemists are more cautious than others if there are still guidelines for under 2's on the bottle. It is a bit confusing!!Confused DD was always fine on it so I would consider it if they were not sleeping because of a cold, but Calpol seems to be doing the trick for now .

AprilMeadow · 14/09/2010 19:21

Pleased that today went ok xx

I've been known to tell the odd porkie about the age of my children, but this only works when they are not with you :o

Ladyem · 14/09/2010 20:11

Thanks April!

I once sent my Sister in to get some tixylix that they wouldn't sell me because DD was under 2!! To be fair, she was bigger than next door's 4 year old at the time, so I was pretty sure she would be fine on it!! Grin

J seems to have gone down ok, so fingers crossed that is it for the night! He slept well last night, so I'm hoping that the Calpol works it's magic again!! Smile

peachygirl · 14/09/2010 21:18

Hi all. Things fine here. Happy Birthday to those babies who are turning 1

Congratulations april meadow!!

ladyem My DD was last measured a H fitting in clarks too, you can order shoes off the website to be delivered into your nearest store. We got trainers for her last time but she wilL need shoes soon as we are going to a wedding and I just can't take her wearing trainers.

We had a lovely party in the garden on sunday we were really lucky with the weather and I have a fair success with my baking!! I wish now I had taken some photos before they got eaten.

blinder · 14/09/2010 23:11

Marking my place - lots to read!!

Ladyem · 16/09/2010 10:18

Morning!

Hi Blinder! How's things? Smile

Just dropped DD off for her first session at pre-school . Actually, she was fine. A bit shy at first which is to be expected, I suppose, but after 5 minutes she was happy for me to leave and luckily, I didn't cry, either!!

So we came home, put J to bed and now I am abandoning the house work in favour of a couple of hours to myself!! Grin

Just sorting out my Uni stuff for this term. Sounds as if I have 2 really hard modules to look forward to!! Cognitive psychology (The writing in the text book is tiny!!! Grin That to me suggests it will be complicated!!) and quantitative statistics Shock . So if you see me on here too often during October, tell me off!! Grin

Hope all is well with you all!!

kveta · 16/09/2010 11:45

ooh, good luck with uni work ladyem - I'm still very glad my studying days are over. :o hope your DD enjoys pre school - she looked very excited in your photos!

we've been inundated with new things to do at work this week, so I've been working from home in the evenings, doing conference calls every afternoon - not easy with Oli in the room! I don't feel very professional saying "yes, I've assigned that task to myself on the system, no, don't bite mummy, yes, I'll look into that tomorrow" as happened yesterday Blush

speaking of work, best get back to it. yawn.

Ladyem · 16/09/2010 13:51

Haha!! Grin I like the way you seamlessly went from Work Mode, to Mummy Mode and back to Work Mode again!! I thought that my studying days were behind me as I have a fashion degree and had my own business designing and making wedding and evening dresses, but when I had DD I get fed up with it all and so decided to have a complete change of direction!! Mad, me? Grin I'm not thinking about how old I'll be when I finally get my PhD!! Will be worth it, though.

Well I picked DD up from nursery and she cried that she had to leave!! Hmm The reverse of everyone else there!! Managed to get her out of the door whilst getting the Stephanie (from Lazytown) doll from her vice-like grip without too much drama, but I don't think I'll have any problem dropping her off on Monday!! Grin Think it was the doll more than nursery that she was sad about leaving behind, though!
