So the last thread could be used as proof that September 09 (and an August!) parents were kept far too busy by their babies to talk about them very often! Shall we see if we can get this one done before second birthdays (eek, 2 is so big) are upon us?

glad you got the photobook barry! I'm almost tempted to order another one in my mum's name Blush!

Ladyem - how ridiculous that it's taken so long for your dentist to deal with your tooth! I'm glad to hear that you're otherwise ok though, it must have been a draining weekend.

I left Oli at nursery properly today, and he yelled the place down - don't think he's really forgiven me, but he's not our favourite person at the moment, as last night he piddled in my wardrobe just before his bath, then had an, ahem, aquatic delivery, during his bath (plus side is that DH scrubbed the bath nicely! :o), then piddled all over my top and into his clothes drawer whilst I was putting his nappy on before bed... He then woke up at 3am and refused to sleep again until 5.30 - we're knackered!

I just had to go out and get him some more clothes, as he keeps growing. he's now in 9-12 or 12-18 month trousers, 12-18 month tops, and 18-24 month vests. Either he's a freak child or there is something wrong with baby clothes sizes.

I avoided my 10 year school reunion last year as I was great with child. And I bloody hated the people I met at school. So I can't give you any advice ladyem!! I'm not sure that they're so scary though stayfrosty, more depressing if facebook is anything to go by!

good luck for tomorrow barry :o hope it's not too tearful!

BerryLellow · 06/09/2010 17:43

:o :o barry! Oh god, it's going to stick isn't it?!

I got around photobox by using a different email account, so I'm sure you could too

What a monkey Oli is! Mads has only had one poofest in the bath, but by god did it cover everything Hmm I remember scrubbing off the bath toys thinking 'I didn't sign up for this'

Thanks for all good wishes, I expect I'll be back on here tomorrow blubbing...

kveta · 06/09/2010 17:56

:o yep!

ChutesTooNarrow · 06/09/2010 18:45

Oh I hope tomorrow goes well Barry, I can get so teary eyed thinking about my baby going to school and hes got a few years yet!

Gabe peed during some nappy off time today but he was very obliging and did it on the bathroom floor that I was just about to clean anyway.

The clothes sizing seems so random, Gabe has a mix of 12-18 month and 1 1/2 - 2 yrs clothes, he still fits the odd 6-9 and 9-12 month things. I do struggle getting trousers for him as baby clothes aren't shaped for cloth nappies.

I started a photobox thing, its really cheesetastic, isn't it? Am getting a bit carried away, might do one for my mum as well (and that would be one christmas present sorted).

:o :o :o

Barry's really growing on me, although it does sound like that guy from the Slimfast adverts years ago.

It was meant to be Bery, as the whole thing is DS1's mispronunciation of very yellow, but BeryLellow looks like beryl. Now I think that might have been better!

peachygirl · 06/09/2010 22:15

Hi, pop in again.
So sorry to hear about your grandad Ladyem

I'm taking zoe to her first swimming lesson tomorrow. I did them with DD1 so I'm really looking forward to it. I hope she likes it!
I got a voucher for a photo book I really must look into it.
I'm also gearing up for my last breastfeed either on zoe's birthday or the day after.

At the moment she is still having an afternoon bottle are other people LO's still doing this or have you dropped it? The baby milk for babies aged one seems to suggest they only need one at bedtime and in the mornning. I'm a bit Hmm about this. I think she still needs one.

We will go onto cows milk when this box is finished. When I put DD1 onto it I did it quite quickly and we had a disasterous journey to Heathrow where she threw up milk all over the car!

Good luck for school/nursery days. DD1 loves to go. She has a great time there and although I feel a bit bad that she is going an extra day I know that I will really appreciate the time with Zoe and I can take her out if we want an extra family day. I spent lots of time with her before zoe came along and she has just started ballet and will be going to her own swimming class with me in the next few weeks. She has a great life!!!

Ladyem · 06/09/2010 22:51

Don't worry peachy, J still has up to 4 drinks of milk a day! Usually has about a pint of milk a day, but I don't measure it, just pour some in a cup and see how we go!! Grin He definitely wants one first thing and at bed time, but he sometimes has one mid morning and always has one mid afternoon before his nap. But then, DD still has up to 3 drinks of milk a day - one with her breakfast, one mid afternoon with a snack and one a bed time. If I were still BFing I'd give it when they asked, so I don't see any reason to limit it from a cup! Grin

Hope it goes well tomorrow Barry/Beryl!! Grin

BerryLellow · 07/09/2010 09:25

waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

:o

Well, he's gone in bless him

I'm ok, but he had a moment where his face sort of fell and he looked really uncertain. I know his looks so well it was really hard to be cheerful and send him off with the TA. My baby! I'm sure he's fine, I can ring in if I want to, or they will call if he's upset. He's only 2 mins walk up the road so I'm not far from him and it helps that it was my primary school too :o

Re milk, Mads is BF first and last thing, and has an afternoon bottle of cows milk Blush which is a fairly recent development, it was a BF then too. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about BFing, there's been moments where I've thought I'll give up after this weekend, but I'm not so sure now. I suppose I'll just wait and see.

If you see me back on here today then tell me off, I'm meant to be packing as DP has taken Mads out so I can mumsnet get on. :o

Ladyem · 07/09/2010 09:48

Well done, Barry! That must have been so hard. Hopefully he will be so busy with everything that the day will fly by and he will come home having loved it!

Last night I realised that as J is an August baby and all of the others are September babies that he will be starting a year before all of your babies!!! Shock Then I couldn't sleep!!

Get packing, Beryl!! Grin (Sorry, will stop now!!)

kveta · 07/09/2010 09:56

aaw barry, it must have been quite a sad moment! good that you know the school though, that must make it a wee bit easier!

peachy, Oli still has 4-5 feeds a day - sadly at least 2 of those are during the night... I have no plans to stop bfing yet, but DH thinks 2 years is a good point to aim for stopping. We'll see how the emerging teeth go though.

I was going to go with Baz Grin hope school went ok.

Gabe still has loads of milk. Luckily he settled into quite a nice 7am, 10am, 2pm and then bedtime pattern during the day but he can feed 2-3 times a night and also has random quick feeds when he feels like it. Also aiming for two years but I think I have accepted that it may go on for longer, as he loves it so much.

He is properly walking now and I need something for his feet for when we go outside. Any suggestions? I just want something soft but had a look in Mothercare (oh I know it is hideous in there) and all the shoes his size were so hard and rigid. I also had a fit at the prices and did a little flounce out of the shop - DP said I was a bit 'dramatic'. I am hoping I wouldn't need to pay more than a tenner but I am possibly wildly optimistic.

OP posts:
LJ29 · 07/09/2010 18:40

Chutes, Harry is walking too now and once they are I was advised that they really do need the support of a proper walking shoe. I got Harry's from Clarkes which were half price in the sale but normally £28 so I don't think that mothercare prices are too bad in comparison actually. On the other hand he does just have some normal trainers fromm Asda and JJB for playing in the garden which didn't cost much at all but kids shoes do tend to be on the dear side.

Do you have Brantano near you as they sometimes have bargains?

ChutesTooNarrow · 07/09/2010 19:15

I think its the knowledge that buying stuff from Mothercare means I am giving money to Myleene Klass to design her horrible black baby clothes. So hard are good? I got it into my head soft was better, I don't know why. I was hoping that as he is barefoot most of the day I could get away with cheap ones for rainy days and hard surfaces. I let him go barefoot or socked at the park, and on grass.

How often do you need to buy new shoes?

OP posts:
LJ29 · 07/09/2010 19:32

Hard but with a bit of flex, certainly not the soft type baby shoes that they have when they're really small. Clarkes recommend getting feet measured every 6-8 weeks to check for growth. Welcome to parenting! It doesn't get any cheaper I'm afraid!

ps. agree with the mylene klass thing.

BerryLellow · 07/09/2010 20:16

:o StayFrosty! Thanks for that - only on Mumsnet will I be called bazza and allow it :o

It would appear that the first rule also applies to big school, all we would say when we collected him was 'that was a really long day' :) When pressed for more detail - 'I just don't know' Hmm

I had Mads feet measured in Clarks the other week, but cannot bring myself to pay £24 for some hideous shoes he will barely wear. That said, DP's sister has bought him some baby converse for his birthday! these

He mostly takes off shoes and socks though so I don't know how much they will get worn either.

kveta · 07/09/2010 20:21

I got Oli some doodles from clarks - they were 7 quid in the sale though... will probably get him more doodles next time, they're affordable and cute, may go for wellies next time though as he's started splashing in puddles!

peachygirl · 08/09/2010 18:19

Thanks for the messages about the milk. I'll stick to 3 feeds til she natrually drops th afternoon one. Dd1 drinks lots but not milk anymore.

I got Zoe some Hush puppy shoes They are very soft- they bend right in two and are very supportive. They are a little long for her though (shoe shop lady said this was OK) and she is a bit Hmm about walking in them so I'm not pushing her to wear them. They should last a bit of time being a bit bigger.

Well done on surviving the first day of big school, I will have to go through this next year with DD1.
I find she will talk about nursery but not if pushed when I first get her. I ususally ask 'have you had a good day Etc' then leave it and she then tells me more in the car. I ususally ask if certain friends are in as she will give me a bit more info then.

You will need to buy shoes quite a bit early on but it does level ou. DD1 has had her last pair of proper shoes for a year and they still fit well.

LJ29 · 08/09/2010 19:25

First day at big school here too for DD. They just do half day settling in sessions for the first week but she loved. She's very proud that she was chosen to take the register to the office!

BerryLellow · 08/09/2010 21:04

How did you find it LJ29? Were you more wobbly than her? (as happened with me :o )

LJ29 · 08/09/2010 21:19

Not wobbly at all actually, DS1 started 2 years ago so I've done it before and although I was gushing with pride I was quite pleased to get an hour or two to myself! Terrible mummy!

BerryLellow · 09/09/2010 08:27

Oh well that's good then. I suppose I'm just a bit wimpy. I enjoy the me time too, had got used to quite a bit of it until Mads came along :)

LJ29 · 09/09/2010 09:22

You're not wimpy! Its a major milestone so its natural to be a bit emotional, I certainly was with DS1.

kveta · 09/09/2010 11:08

Is anyone else getting broody?

I'm so knackered I'm barely able to drive into work safely, but DH and I are both getting horribly broody, even though we vowed we wouldn't try for number 2 until Oli is sleeping closer to normal hours. Plus there's the cost of childcare, and lack of space in the house (being logical here). Obviously I'm broodier than he is, but we saw a newborn the other day in town and both went 'awwwww' and DH turned to me and said 'we need to have another one of them'.

please talk me out of it. please remind me why babies are not that great, and those of you with more than one - tell me horror stories about more than 1 child, the worse, the better! :o

maybe I'm just hormonal at the moment - I burst into tears this morning when I saw a wee girl on her way to school. that was it - the only trigger I needed. Gah, I'm pathetic, aren't I?! Confused
