Blimey that's loads of words DOG.

H might be getting her pot off tomorrow. I so hope so. Must get video of her clunking about like pirate.

DD1 took a huge fall from her gocart at nannas and ended up in A&E with ?broken nose. Happily not. It's all go!

Have you thought anymore about the meconium business DOG?

I'm a bit phht at where I live. DD2 had her pot off today. Wooo Hooo. But it has left severael blisters, and a scrape mark where they cut it off. We were there for 2.5 hrs, for a total of 5 mins attention.

Plus she has run a temp since last night, has a sore throat and a horrible mucousy cough that hurts when she coughs. She cries everytime she coughs. Her temp is running at 38.5-39 and she feels like crap. As you would.

So the only thing that is making her feel better, apart from sticking her hand down my top and cuddling, is Shaun the Sheep.

SO I want to get her a toy, probably a TimmyTme sleepy thing. Becasue I live int he back end of beyone, everything is closed, and because we only have an Argos for toys, I am really limited.
If I lived somewhere nearer to things, could pop to a late night Argos, ToysRUs, Tesco or whatever, and get her her toy NOW. WHen she wants it to cheer us all up.

Phhht.

But great news we have her little foot back, and she is weight bearing. Poor thing though, imagine having those blisters for 3 weeks, and walking and not havng the sense no too, and not being able to itch them or tell anyone or anything. Am a bt heartbroken for my little lamb.

A renewed renewal from the CTC people arrived today, it appears that come April instead of owing £900 and getting nothing in the meantime - we will owe £500 and get credits in the mean while. Hence flamboyant toy buying Grin
I don't believe a word of it, but for this evening only I am putting the blinkers on. Grin

Article in our paper tonight about warning from Hull uni [DH's uni for his teaching course hopefully] COurse fee's probably rise to £7000 per annum, from £3500. SO 21K fee debt instead of 10.5K

Must be nice to be a Conservative, and David Cameron, and just not see why this matters or breaks hearts. AngryAngry

Apologies to any on thread Conservatives Grin

I forgot, H can also say
nose
ear
eye

I'm glad you are reassured Dog, but you silly beggar for thinking it might be you. Loads and loads of kids have delays and slow starts my love. It will come. DD1 had, and I bet dd2 is the same. Big hugs.

Hello. Mad here, need some calm at some point to catch up. Hopefully soon - have I been saying that for years or what?! What we actually need is another member of staff, but that is far too scary so we are ducking and working our arses off atm. When am I going to fit a PhD into this crazyness? I think I am mad to even consider it.

Not looking at baby clothes, am remaining strong on the pact. DH is NOT remaining strong. Gah.

Poor H Tree, that is rubbish. Try not to feel too bad though, they are not like us adults. They don't feel sorry for themselves or mope, life just happens when you are little, there is no thinking on it.

Have forgotten everything else - there was more but my brain feels like a vacuous place this evening.

Oh yes, and bubbles, must write this down so stop worrying self about lack of talking.

teaandcakeplease · 12/08/2010 08:29

My boy only says a few recognisable words but then again I haven't done as much encouraging and learning of words as I should Blush

Tumbleweed on here.

I've just discovered there is another TeaandCake on mumsnet and I'm now thinking maybe I should name change. I haven't come across her before but I wouldn't be surprised if she'd been on mumsnet longer than me and is better known. So maybe to avoid confusion I should change my name? Shame though as I've had this name since last Autumn now and have become attached to it.

teaandcakeplease · 12/08/2010 08:36

Oh no I'm wrong. I've had this nickname since Sept 2008. Just looked in my profile to see what my previous nick name was and whether I should change it to that confused.com Wink

I'll have a think today and decide later.

stripeywoollenhat · 12/08/2010 12:57

tea, i don't think you need to change your name. there's another stripey-starting name on here but i don't see that as any reason to change my name (thoguh i do sometimes think it's a bit silly, my name)

lenni, hope things calm down soon (in a good way, thoguh)

tree, poor little h. at least it's off now though

loads of words from the small girl: she seems to be doing verbs at the moment - read, turn, hang, take... peremptory is the word that springs to mind... Smile. we've had visitors and she is being a bit obstreperous today, but right now is napping [relieved emoticon]

wow, dog, it's really closing in now...

OP posts:
treedelivery · 12/08/2010 14:46

Afternoon people.

Tea - I wouldn't namechange. If the other person approaches you then you could find out who is the most old timery of the old timers, but if they aren't bothered I wouldn't worry. Unless they are a numpty and thier posts are giving you a bad name Grin

Hope you get some down time Lenni. Have you thought of trying to plan a proper calm zone? do that, dd1 is at nannas, so I didn't organise anything much for this week, and also penciled in some dd2 trips to the other nannas. To try generate an hour where i would be on my own. My most craved luxury.

Hassn't gone so well, due to H being unwell.

So yes, she woke last night about 10. It was the ONE time all evening had gone downstairs and left her, and I went up to find her maroon, unable to take a proper breath, and shaking like a leaf. SHe looked scared. Fnger hovered on 999, but went for NHS direct. SHe said very possibly croup, and go sit in bathroom with shower on.

Which would have been fne, but on my last night at work the anaesthetist was busy as an 18month boy came in with croup. He needed intubating and tansfering out to a huge unit. So that was ringing in my ears tbh.

So while she was talking we were packing to go to A&E. They were lovely, and kept her in on on a mutual agreement. I was too scared to take her home, and she needed steroid treatment - so I felt that was good enough reason to stay. It worked like a miracle. The Dr was lovely, he handed the case over as 'for observation and treatment, mum too anxious to take her home, and I think she scared them silly' Grin Totally accurate.

We ae so lucky to have antibiotics and steroids. SImple and life saving little tablets.

Got 3 hrs kp between us, and came home today and crashed in bed for a few hours. SHe's ok, but if gets slightly wound up or rushes she sounds like Darth Vader. She is mostly loving bottles of formula, cuddles and the odd dance to the music in her head GrinHmm

ANother relaxing day in the tree house.Hmm Poor dh will be tired. He didn't get home until 2am, when we settled on the ward.
My week 'off' is over soon, work tomorrow night. I hope it is less stressful than it has been. I have some cases to look over too, and check the documentation/care etc. Sigh. For my own benefit, not formally. Still, stressfull.

Tea - I haven't done anythng like that with dd2 either. It's nigh on impossble isn't it? Besides, I hope think they do most of their learning from their siblings. Yeah. That's it.

Lenni · 12/08/2010 20:16

Oh gosh Tree, been there. It is terrifying, and gets worse so quickly. Glad they kept you in, always reassuring to know you are close enough to the medical folk that they will fix things iykwim.

I NEED downtime. But when? I'm still doing DH's books, looking after the DCs, studying, trying to get odds and ends of research work to keep me going, writing endless research proposals in hope of someday getting funding and in September I'm supposed to be working 3 days a week too, and then there is the cleaning/cooking etc. Don't you just love those people who treat you like a lady of leisure since I'm a SAHM. Luckily preschool is only another 3 weeks off otherwise I just don't know how I'd cope. I need to get DH to take on staff, but he isn't wanting to overcommit. We also need someone to do the books, I just can't do everything anymore. Right, I've vented. Feel better now. It isn't like I'm doing too much, really it is just that all of it is unappreciated.

Tea, I also think you should keep your name.

Thank you very much Books, your experiences are helping me. Giving me clues what to look out for. The rib retraction and nostril flaring gave me The Fear last night. It's generally not a great sign in newborns, so all my alarm bells went off. Alarm bells ringing in tune with the anaesthetists tale from the other night too.

Lenni - if the busness can't commit to staff at the mo, how about the house does? So send out you laundry, have it ironed, and get a casual cleaner, or a contract cleaner in - but only do it for a fortnight. By all means do it forever, but I'm guessing we would all be doing that if we could actually afford too Grin

So if you have 2 weeks off from the big cleans, the laundry and the ironing - how much time would that get you?
I reckon a decent clean of my house is 4 hours. So get the cleaners in for 4x1hr, or 2x2, or whatever suits you. Plus laundry and ironing - takes 1-s hour a week minimum?

You have 5 glorious hours to go do something else. For the cost of....say...gosh I dunno. No more than £100 per week.
Now that's a load of money. BUT extra staff for DH would be waaaaaay more than £100 per week, plus they would have all the complications that arise from employing extra staff.
If the 5 hours off housework is roughly equivalent to how long you spend on the books per week - you have totally justified the domestic help.

Ta Daaaaa.

teaandcakeplease · 12/08/2010 22:26

OK I'll leave my name alone Grin

I've worked out who Books is on fb after previous comments Smile

So confusing joining this thread so late to know whose who on fb.

Busy day but fun. Will write a proper reply tomorrow.

Hope H is ok Tree x

treedelivery · 12/08/2010 22:38

Well, I just ordered 6 doors from this range. They arrive Tuesday.

I am hoping that a) the fairies pay for them and b) they fit. This is a floor to ceiling wardrobe really, that was built to house the washer/dryer nad freezer, and has 3 huge shelves. SO getting the doors to measure up was realy tricky. Hmm I designed and measured out our last 2, very unusual and tricky kitchens. SO maybe this will be ok

They don't come with hinges. No doubt they will be another bomb, and be on some sort of order only, wait 10 weeks, nightmare. Hey Ho.

Oh DOG, is it the pregnancy hormones? I used to be very tearful when pregnant and you haven't exactly had an easy time of it lately either have you? Also Summer hols are pretty relentless with 2 DCs, you must be exhausted. Glad you slept last night. Love the picture of your lovely bump on facebook today. ((hugs))

treedelivery · 13/08/2010 12:28

Hello folks.

Hi tea, I am often confused about who is rl and who is mn, and then my mn people are pretty much real life now anyway, as I see pictures and hear from and about them more than a lot of so called real life people....so I generally have no idea if I'm coming or going Grin

H is having a nap on me. I thought we were going to have a re-run last night, Books it sooooo helped having your experiences to read about. Especially knowing all was ok, although no doubt horribly scary for you. How was it when you had it?
In the end she settled and slept till sometime in the night when it was dark. SHe woke and had about 3 oz, and settled and slept wih me until 9am. I love co-sleeping sometimes Grin

The egg is being induced next weekend, if it doesn't break out in the meantime!! Oh My God. Just ordered a bangle from that silversmith I got my rings from, via Not On The High Street. I spoke to the retailer directly, and they are going to crack on wth the words 'Mummy to' and await the name. I seem to be spendng money. But I was always gettign her this, it is non-negotiable.

I hope she likes it. I think she will, plus I think the 'Mummy to ' is a postive and happy message from me to her, her husband and the chld. I could cry thinking about it. They are thinking of my 1st choice dd name that my dh wasn't keen on. I kind of hope they get a girl and call her that. That would be so cosmic.

What with that, our very own DOG being due the next thread baby, and not having a dd1 at home for a week, and dd2 off for the weekend to nannas, me being on nights in an empty house, and dd2 being encamped on my knee all week for huge cuddles - I'm a hormonal pile of wibble!

treedelivery · 13/08/2010 12:31

Tea - you might not have seen the rings I'm on about, sorry! They are here, with the bangles too. I had one made for each of my girls, and wear them next to each other. They look grand, you can see the hammer marks and they are a lttle unever, whch I like.
here

Calming soothing zen out peaceful vibes to DOG. Hormones. Mental things.
