I'm rubbish at that sort of thing, must so hard for her Sad

I did see another thread with ideas ages ago and it was awesome. You could namechange for the thread and keep it vague?

treedelivery · 13/08/2010 13:23

Flowers. I think flowers and the womb just go.

Now to think of something that is flowers, and can be kept, but won't serve to remnd her of hard time - but good ones.

I'd almost say one of those bangles! To remind her of the wonderful work her body did, before it needed this help to keep healthy. Something like 'Mother to

Oh no, I agree. If you don't know her that well then a bracelet is probably too much. You're right.

Cornish tea. Hmm. Can I have one?

treedelivery · 13/08/2010 13:46

Ooo has she a garden? How about a plant or a flower? A rose or another flower? A bay tree or a herb?

dog - i'd say stunning Smile. i'm sorry about your cousin. my sister had cervical cancer and had a hysterectomy, she didn't need chemo/radiotherapy. it is a very hard thing to go through - if your cousin is offered counselling and if you feel able to broach it, i would strongly encourage her to take it. my sister didn't and has enormous mental health difficulties now, i think really not helped by not resolving her feelings about the cancer and surgery. presents: i would go with i-tunes/book tokens - she will need distracting, i guess, if she has to go through chemo, i imagine it will involve a lot of hanging around as well as feeling crap.

tree: oh wow, how utterly exciting! i would go with 'mummy to': the bangle is a lovely idea Smile

My manager had breat cancer. I had some books delivered, some really lightweight novels for the hours sat waiting in waiting rooms and when having the chemo.

Audio book vouchers a great, you know I love audiobooks Wink

You're probably right about the plant idea. Hmmm.

Can't think, stuck in a cream tea loop Grin

I have to pack up dd2 to for her jaunt to nannas for her childcare. Then get to bed, after a quick supermarket dash. Work starts n 6 hrs!!

stripeywoollenhat · 13/08/2010 14:14

Just waved dd2 off. DH finishes early on Fridays and is driving her the 55 miles to my mums for childcare. Her is takng dd1 to the VW festival in Leeds this weekend.

That's all my babies away now. Am missng dd1 very much, it's been a week since I saw her properly.

Nights are so lonely.

treedelivery · 13/08/2010 16:21

I know I should be sleeping but I can't relax cos I have too much to worry about.

So am looking at these instead. I think they are hysterical! Grin I want one.

Welcome back tink

teaandcakeplease · 13/08/2010 20:52

Are any of you going to the Christmas meet up?

I do quite fancy it if I have a friend for company Smile

Lenni · 13/08/2010 23:25

I would offer my services Tea but is DHs 30th, not sure he'd be too happy if I missed that for MN meetup. God knows MN gets me in enough trouble.

Have read back now but zonked, will type vague musings tomorrow. Night all.

tinktellyaddict · 14/08/2010 09:37

oh poor u dog i have had thrush lots and can be very uncomfortable, nasty and sore hope it is feeling abit better
went food shopping and picked up next order winter bits for girls all great Grin

teaandcakeplease · 14/08/2010 20:33

I've never had thrush but that sounds very very painful DOG Sad

Lately I feel at home if Jacob isn't causing major mischief, Isabella is being tricky, I feel I fly by the seat of my pants and career from telling one them off/ or stopping or persuading or cajoling them to the other DC. I feel like one big ball of adrenaline and stress at times and this week I've been verging on shouty mummy a little too much. I long to be better, it doesn't matter that I'm a single mum, what matters is the fact I want to do things right and well and stay calm, but somehow no matter how much I want to, I keep fouling up. Someone come and cheer me up. Feel rotten tonight.

Tea poor you, it sounds really tough. Can you try to let most things go and just pick your battles? N was trying to get a jugful of water out of the bath to empty on the floor, and I was trying to stop him, and then I thought, why not? I just threw the towel on top of the puddle which needs washing anyway. I think maybe it helps me to remember it is part of their developmental drive to push boundaries and explore at this age. OH thinks I am too soft though. Easy enough to say with one too, I bet it's a whole new ball game with more...

dog hope you zapped the thrush, horrid stuff.

tree had tears reading about your bracelet for eggy mum. So thoughtful and sweet of you. What a gift! In every way....

lenni Don't know how you are holding it together. Our lives feel a bit like that these days too. Leave the house at 9am and not back till 9pm, helping at the farm or driving luggage around to service the rides or just out visiting - but all knackering. Agree with tree re cleaner - although I have spent last 2 weeks trying to find a local one with no joy.

books & tree croup sounds awful - we also have inhaler and spacer here which makes me feel a lot better. Glad they looked after you at a&e tree.

tink welcome back - I've been largely absent I'm afraid so can't catch you up. Sounds like you had a great time by your fb updates.

Waves to everyone else including those on hols!

teaandcakeplease · 14/08/2010 21:47

Thanks ladies. I am looking forward to when it gets easier Grin
