Congratulations ILTMIMI, great news Smile

Poor dh Carrie, it sounds very painful, hope it heals quickly.

Cars- we have a Nissan Tino (same sort of thing as a Picasso) and it currently has everything we need for a weekend's camping trip in the boot. We have a big 6 man tent and more stuff than we really need! We preferred that shape car to the estates as we reckoned you can get more in a deep height boot space than a deep length space.
Nissan don't make the Tino any more though and they don't really have a new equivalent as the Qashqai isn't as roomy. We can get an adult in the middle no bother and have had 3 car seats (1 for ds2 and 2 highback boosters) in the back.

Only other thing I'd think about it the option to have 7 seats. Whenever we have family down we have to go out in 2 cars and it'd be good to have the 2 seats hiding in the boot for days out.

I shouldn't be here as I'm meant to be finishing packing up the car for our weekend to Castleford.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/08/2010 13:00

Thanks for your congratulations ladies. Am still feeling quite tentative about it all as it's such early days. We're delighted though Smile

I especially appreciate the congrats from Carrie and MrsA, and anyone else who may be SWI.

DH has to really get his arse in gear with the extension now though. We sat down last night and found some ways we can make it move on a bit quicker. It's probably the kick up the arse that we needed actually Grin

Have a fab holiday Debi.

Sounds like it was a bit of an epic for you Debs, I guess the one comfort was the hard bit was quite quick - not that it feels like it at the time!

Hopefully · 20/08/2010 13:19

Congrats ILTMIMI how exciting! Hope it's sticky and easy and boring Smile

My dad, for all his love of ford, says we should get a honda of some description, as they're super cheap and apparently pretty reliable. We thought about getting a honda civic a few years ago but realised we were too poor. Might visit honda garage tomorrow too...

Carrie hope your DH recovers quickly and glad your extension is looking good.

Debs congrats again! Glad you're doing OK, hope R recovers quickly from head bump.

Have discovered a place in town that does early scans - am debating seeing if they have any appointments for next couple of weeks - feels really indulgent to not just wait for 12 week scan, but I'm not sure I can take the stress of waiting 4 more weeks!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/08/2010 14:36

Ta Hopefully. I totally agree to a sticky, easy and boring pregnancy Grin

DH's mantra when buying a car is 'go German or Japanese'! Enjoy car shopping tomorrow. It's all very exciting at first, then it gets boring, then the arguements start. Or is that just me?!

Do you want me to talk you into or out of the scan?

Debs75 · 20/08/2010 18:13

ILTMIMI Congratulations.

Yes it was definitely an epic. The whole thing took longer then the other 3 put together. It was a calm birth in the end and she is out and healthy so i will forgive the day strapped to a bed.

Robyn is fine and has managed to fall on her head twice more since then. She is so clumsy it is unbelievable.
Starting to buy things for her birthday. Can anyone remember when our first b'day is?

We have a 7 seater and it is priceless. We had a Renault Scenic then moved to a Kia Sedona after having Robyn. That is much better as all the seats are seperate and have loads of room. There is loads of headroom as well. Dp often sits with DS in the boot and is comfy. The only downside is the boot seats don't fold into the floor so if you don't use them they are still kinda in the way

CappuccinoCarrie · 20/08/2010 19:19

debs does your baby have a name yet?

DH is home! He's in lots of pain and in denial that he sounds like a zombie from the drugs. He had to have morphine in the night :( He's being as helpful as he can but given that he usually does the cooking and baths the kids, its all a bit of a change as we work out our new roles. His other hand is in agony from the canula he had in for the ABs yesterday, so both hands are a bit out of action. Someone get out the violins!

I don't think I'm pg, have the zits, have had the grumpiness, and (TMI ALERT!!!) this morning when I wiped there was blood stained mucus, and I normally get something like that first. So just waiting for the full AF but its not looking good. And I'm away with the kids in 2 weeks so not able to SWI, even if DH is up to it with his broken bones!

Hopefully · 21/08/2010 09:34

Carrie your poor DH and poor you. I would be such a disaster if DP was out of action for any length of time - he does so much when he comes home from work. Also Sad that AF appears to be on the way - is it you who has PCOS? Is there anything more that can be done for it to improve chances of conceiving?

We would love a 7 seater in an ideal world, but we just cannot afford one. It would be so useful for ferrying people around, but it ain't going to happen any time soon, so we've given up on that entirely.

Is DG's DS the first birthday among us? He was late august, wasn't he? Or is there someone earlier. T isn't till the 17th...

ILTMIMI what I really want you to is give me £90, then talk me into the scan Grin

Hopefully · 21/08/2010 09:37

Oh, and we have a weird house guest situation. Uni friend of DP's (who didn't know him really well, but hung out in the same group) phoned and said he was in the UK, could he visit. Of course, we invited him to stay last night, but he doesn't seem to have any plans for moving on today. I really don't particularly want to be hospitable for another night (plus will need to go food shopping), but not quite sure how you make someone leave who has nowhere to go? He mentioned that he brought his tent and everything in case he couldn't get a bed for tonight, and I think we were probably expected to jump in and offer him a bed at that point, but I don't want to.

He's perfectly nice, normal and chatty, I'm just knackered and hormonal and hiding it, which I can only do for a limited time!

Debs75 · 21/08/2010 11:40

Carrie No name yet but we have till 14.57 when she will be a week old. If we can't decide by then I might just have to think of one myself.
Feel for your DH. I had a canula in for the synto drip for almost 48 hours and it still hurts. The dr did it on the side of my wrist as well so I catch it all the time.

Hopefully · 21/08/2010 11:57

Oh god, I remember not being able to hold T properly after giving birth because I had a canula in each hand and they were bloody agony. because, you know, the whole things wasn't stressful enough, they had to puncture me on both sides.

Hopefully · 21/08/2010 11:57

Oh, and house guest is still here...

Meglet · 21/08/2010 13:47

DD has a new party trick, she keeps climbing on the dining room table and shouting 'ta-dah' Angry.

Meglet · 21/08/2010 14:48

becaroo I wouldn't change to renting unless I was forced to for financial reasons. It's one less thing to worry about that that I can stay in this house for as long as I can afford to and no landlord can make me leave. And in 25yrs time I won't have a mortgage anymore, then I will have to help the dc's get their own houses or bugger off on a cruise Hmm.

I don't have off road parking and it is the bane of my life. Having to lug bags and small children out to the car near the road is a PITA. I keep looking for a new house and I wouldn't consider one without a driveway. My friend has just moved from one without off road parking to one with a driveway and she loves it. Seems to make life a lot easier to be able to chuck kids / bags in the car and go. And I hate coming back late and wondering if I can park near the house, drives me up the wall. Grin

iltmimi Congrats!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 21/08/2010 22:30

Oh Debs, I am in awe of you - what a star. It's brought back so many memories of C's entrance - not all of them good....canulas, drips, being forced onto a bed, unable to move.... etc etc. So glad for you that you managed to give birth naturally and all now seems well (even with Robyn's antics!!)

Hopefully you seem to have a strange house guest but I haven't a clue on offering advice. I sympathise as I hate my space being invaded.

C is coming on leaps and bounds atm - every day she gets easier as her speech is improving and she's getting less needy and doing more independent play. Aside from the usual toddler stuff ("put it back, looking not touching, don't hit the cat, if you do that again mr cordy will have to be put away [grin") she is a real delight to be around.

She not a girly girl at all, and we do offer her the choice of pink glittery stuff etc but her favourite thing atm is a rubber crocodile from chester zoo that she calls 'roar'. She's also loving practising kicking a football in the back garden.
Went to Tesco today, swapped £30 vouchers for £60 and bought the jcb ride on and a couple of other bits for her birhday. Think we'll also get her a stuffed Peppa.

My mum has bought her 'Mr googly' Hmm. A Steiff bear costing £130. Apparently it does have moveable arms and growls when you tip it and has wipeable fur............ whadya do??! Ta mother.

Debs75 · 22/08/2010 06:50

Becaroo I would be lost without my drive. It is one of the things putting us off moving. We really need the extra bedroom but the 4 beds are mainly in an area where off road parking is non-existent.

MrsA I wish I had enough Tesco vouchers to swap, I only have 1 for £2. Robyn isn't very girly either. She loves Peppa and Princess Holly but adores Buzz and Woody from Toy Story. She climbs a lot and is very rough.

Think we have agreed on a name for the baby. DP only likes Lucy/Lucie out of my shortlist so we will probably go with that.
Oh it feels good to make him come round to my way of thinking for once.

Debs75 · 22/08/2010 06:55

Robyn is finally asleep.Grin
Next door have had an all-nighter again, not a party just watching shit tv with all the windows open. Baby woke me at 3 and wouldn't settle, Robyn woke at 4 and ended up downstairs watching toy story. She is on the 2nd run and has fallen asleep on the settee.
Think it might be time to complain to council an=bout the noise. The neighbours feel as it isn't a party they can't get into trouble but it is getting relentless.

Meglet · 22/08/2010 13:46

Angry for your nightmare neighbours debs. FWIW I like the name Lucy Smile.

MrsA just googled the Steiff bears. It's an awful lot of money for a bear isn't it.

Not sure who's DC's 2nd birthday is first, I only remember my DD's and Lollys DS's as they were the same day in the same hospital.

becaroo · 22/08/2010 16:02

Hi all. Back from windsor...had a nice time but am pretty tired now.

Some blood results came back and I am anaemic so have got to go on iron tabs Sad
others arent back yet.

Thanks for the input on houses/renting etc. dh wont countenance moving so I am stuck here!! Grin

debs If Toby had been a girl he would have been Lucy Elinor!!

mrsA £130??? For a stuffed animal??? Blimey. Are you going to let C play with it?

Got Tobys b day gifts already - a wooden play kitchen from Ikea and some accessories like a kettle and saucepans. My mum has got him a little washing machine and my sister has got him a hoover and shopping trolley. PIL and SIL have got him a plastic playhouse for outside. Yes.....he is very spoilt Grin

A new bargain shop has opened up in my local town and I popped in on friday and got Toby some Thomas the Tank stuff for xmas. Might get him 1 more thing but thats it. Getting ds1 3 parcels but thats it for him too.

Seems strange to be thinking about xmas but no doubt it will be here before we know it Hmm

I don't think the bear MIL bought ds1 is a Steiff, but it's bloody massive, makes an odd noise when you tip it up and collectd dust on the chest of draws. What a waste of money!

LOVE the name Lucy Debs. Glad you got your way Grin

Do you reckon Hopefully's house guest is still there? I hate cringey situations like that.

I think it might be Digi's ds's birthday first. I remember her talking about planning the party. Where are you Digi?

becaroo · 22/08/2010 17:50

Grin @star

DebiTheScot · 22/08/2010 22:54

Back from our weekend away, had a great time. The boys loved the tent, although not sure our neighbours felt the same at 6.45 this morn when they were bouncing on the airbeds & squealing loudly!

We went to York yest (I spent all day looking for Carrie- that is where you are isn't it?), train museum & bus tour. Then today did Diggerland this morn- good fun but glad I used tesco vouchers as £45 total entry a but steep- and rugby this aft. A random man gave us free tickets & all the players came & shook our hands at the end (only about 30 away fans there) so even tho we lost it was fun. And the drive home wasn't nearly as bad as the drive up. Oh & Mamamuffin u live in a lovely village.
Digi

DebiTheScot · 22/08/2010 22:57

Whoops, hit post before I was done.
Digi's ds is 31st Aug. I remember that coz my ds2 is 1st Sept & I think it's mad that they'll be in different school years.

hopefully the zafira has 7 seats but isn't any bigger than a 5 seat people carrier I don't think. And I think they're cheap.

aaww, all those babies. Some of them were dead early weren't they!

I notice Johnworf on MN sometimes and the last time I stalked her profile her DD was looking gorgeous. They were in the newspaper once (something about premature birth IIRC) and I realised I knew them from MN.

Wonder where everyone else got to, do they all have lives or something Wink. Eandz was always fun, but she's vanished from FB too.
