Fennel - that's lovely!

Chuffed · 03/10/2005 14:08

Thanks for the respect everyone - it really isn't too bad - dh is a gem!!!
MrsD congrats - we know too but not telling yet.
Currently in Romania in a place called Brasov. Romania is just gorgeous - people are really helpful, friendly but you can definately see the poorer side too, we saw a small boy about 4 maybe in Bucharest playing with an empty plastic container tied to a piece of plastic tape.
dd is quite a little dancer too and her speech is coming on slowly. She also loves aeroplanes, trains buses etc as well as animals we are going to see wild bears tonight and she has been saying bear all day she loves bears.
Well better get off and enjoy some more of this gorgeous weather we have been having.
Take care everyone

hunkerpumpkin · 03/10/2005 14:13

Hi Chuffed - glad you're having a good time! Your DD sounds like DS - he's in love with buses atm (cried on the journey home from work yesterday when they drove past and went out of sight!). And bear is one of his few words too.

He's saying "boo" now, rather than just peeping his sweet face out from behind everything he can! And he's still a book fiend - wants stories read to him all the time! He doesn't seem to know where to put his hands when he walks yet - they're either up in the air or resting on his tummy, which looks hilarious!

Still doesn't weigh much - 23lb 11oz at 18mo today (can't believe it!) - still, we're getting very good wear out of his 9-12m clothes - lol! Hadn't had him weighed since he was one - he's put on about 4lbs in six months.

Hope everyone else is OK

dot1 · 03/10/2005 15:34

Hunker - I can't believe our little babies are 18 months either..! ds2 turns 18 months at the end of this week - it's not right!!

dolbear · 03/10/2005 20:51

urg - don't never seemed to notice how much older I was getting until ds arrived now the team flies and is measured by months !
tee hee know what you mean re hands HM , ds puts them behind his back like a skater
p.s I got me a p/time job !!

dot1 · 03/10/2005 21:12

ooh Dolbear - doing what?!

hunkerpumpkin · 03/10/2005 21:15

Tomorrow DS is nearer to two than to one - how is that possible?!

He was SO sweet tonight - after being a very "finger food" baby and only wanting a spoon to dip in things, he fed himself yoghurt. I think he'd got fed up with eating it with his fingers

Dolbear, LOL at skater hands - I know just what you mean! What's your new job?

DS learnt to say "Oh, wow!" this morning too - sounds hilarious!

dot1 · 03/10/2005 21:20

PS - I meant to ask - can't remember who else (if anyone) had a c-section, but have you got all your feeling back yet if you did? I'm still mainly numb in quite a wide patch just above my scar, and every now and then it feels really weird, which it did this morning, which is why I'm remembering to ask! Don't suppose there's much to do except wait and hope it gets back to normal??

hewlettsdaughter · 03/10/2005 22:19

Sorry, can't help, dot - have you tried starting a thread on it?

HM, does your ds get as messy as my dd when he eats his yogurt?

Dolbear - do tell, about your job!

hunkerpumpkin · 03/10/2005 22:37

HD, he's not a messy child usually (he's eaten cherries in a white top and not got a mark on him!) but yoghurt is a different matter! It goes...everywhere! But he has such fun eating it!

Dot, I've heard of this before - no experience with a c-section scar myself, but I know the skin around my appendix and laparoscopy scars feels "different". I suppose they slice through nerves when they operate, and nerves aren't great at healing (if they do it at all), so that might explain it.

TracyK · 04/10/2005 08:51

Dot - I had an ovarian cyst removed 3 years ago and same scar as c section - it's still numb but really only along the scar line - so yours will get better eventually.
ds can now say his own name when asked - though he can't do his R properly yet.
He's sleeping later now its dark in the mornings - well till 6.30ish - tho better than his 5.45's of the past!

hunkerpumpkin · 04/10/2005 09:31

Bet you're looking forward to the clocks going back, TracyK...! Glad he's sleeping later - and clever boy, saying his name! DS can manage his cousin's, but not his own (his cousin's is much easier though!).

TracyK · 04/10/2005 09:57

I sure am - I like the snuggly frosty weather and DARK mornings. ds sleeps so much better when he's toasty warm and dark room.
Was getting so fed up with the hot, hot nights.
ds name is Ross - so nice and easy - tho he says woss.

dolbear · 04/10/2005 19:25

mmm ,not realy sure what the job is IYKWIM , something tio do with taking orders over the phone for company listings - or something, but thatx aanyways !!
I had a C also and also have odd feelings around scar , but is getting better b4 I could feel preasure but no temp , so leaning againt b/room sink - felt the sink but not that it was cold - which is v odd feelin

TracyK · 05/10/2005 11:15

Hey Dolbear - is it a sex line then??

LucyJones · 06/10/2005 12:01

hi everyone. How are all the pregnant ladies getting on? Can't remember who is due first? Is it KristinaM?

mandrake · 06/10/2005 12:46

what do you think of my Halloween name? a bit obscure?

hewlettsdaughter · 06/10/2005 17:17

Fennel

(I did think it might be you but had to check on the name-changing thread!)

hunkerpumpkin · 06/10/2005 23:40

Hi all. Yes, think it's KM who's due first - I'm due on 14th January, so not sure if anyone else is before me?

Mandrake - love it! LOL!

Got to think up a Christmas one now.

DS showing a complete love of all things musical - asking for CDs on, wanting Fantasia on while he plays, pointing to the PC to have music played (Mozart for preference - goes all shy and soppy at particular tracks!) when he has breakfast, and wanting to play the piano all the time! Goodness knows where he gets it from - nobody musical in either family, although we do like listening to it, I suppose!

TracyK · 07/10/2005 08:48

Did you listen to a lot of music when you were pg Hunker?

hunkerpumpkin · 07/10/2005 09:10

No, not really! Don't understand it!

DS's gum looks red raw where his canine's coming through - I hope they're all through quickly (just these horrible canines left) and he can enjoy having all the teeth he'll have for a few months!

TracyK · 07/10/2005 09:32

ds just waiting for his bottom canines - but 1 looks a bit red so may be on its way.
Bottom is runny and sore - poor baby.

dot1 · 07/10/2005 10:18

looks like ds2's coming down with chicken pox... 6 babies in his nursery class have come down with it last/this week, and today he's refused his morning milk and breakfast - so we know something's really wrong..!

Dreadful timing as I'm due to be away with work for the first time since I returned from mat. leave - only 2 days in Leeds but it's expected I'll go and to be honest I was kind of looking forward to it..! However if ds1 also comes down with it I couldn't leave dp looking after 2 miserable poorly kids...

Meanwhile ds2 continues to be a child prodigy - has really got into his colours and sat on the bed this morning saying "purple, orange, green, blue!". He doesn't quite know them all properly yet - although can do red, blue and yellow - but loves the concept of colours - goes bonkers over rainbows!!

TracyK · 07/10/2005 10:22

poor babies Dot - they always have such good timing with their illnesses don't they?
ds knows blue and yellow - tho can only say bleurgh and lo. but does know to match his blue, red and yellow balls in the right holes on his little toy thing. But haven't tried him with any complicated colors like purple!
He insists now at all times of day and night sooshon - for shoes on and thrusts his shoes in your face!

dolbear · 07/10/2005 16:57

ah poor little ones have decided I hate teath , not 2 fond of my own let alone ds evry 1 has cause vomits, bottom exploding and feeding probs , just as he gets the hamg of it again raaaaa
have seen docs and he has been out forward for surgary on his bits - v frightened , no its simple-every day common stuff and keep saying to myself that @ least is not life threatening , but TBH its not doing me ANY good
