That dragon is so cute! We own all Julia Donaldson books as I personally owned them before DS for my classroom anyway. He loves them all but is particularly fond of the gruffalo, night monkey day monkey, monkey puzzle and sharing a shell! :)

LOL I could never do your accent pistachio. We'll have to have you come visit and read it for us Wink

We have half term the week after next and then dh the following week. We are both looking forward to our week on our own with Q. Feels like we just started school/work again, though!

I've had conference days yesterday and today so no kids but parents coming in for about a half hour at a time for conferences. It was lovely. Only a few tough ones :)

Q loves swimming. Dh is much better at the whole swimming thing than I am and I don't like stuffing getting myself into a bathing suit lately, so I let him do it. Hoping for a lie in tomorrow with the late bedtime Grin

Star - have you got 'what the ladybird heard'? its really good and J loves the glittery ladybirds on each page... we went to meet Julia dondalson at book festival last year and she is so lovely and signed DS1's tiddler book 'from your writer friend Julia' - he was so chuffed, go see her if you get the chance. her hubby does the shows too and he acts out her book and is hilarious!!

Told DS1 today and he proper cried like I've never seen, nothing like when he's hurt or cross - he was really sobbing and howling. He asked a few questions and then was off to play - its amazing how their brains work at that age. - thanks for the book idea star

Pistacio - yes, its a really common cause of blood/injection/injury phobia. Applied tension is the exercise you need. try this it works really well, even if you look a bit daft. You have to practice it first...good luck

loulou33 · 09/10/2010 21:46

50f - sorry forgot to add, hope the passport arrives in time, how ridiculous to pull a 2yo for checking - when will you hear more. None of us have passports Shock - maybe should get that sorted Hmm

StarExpat · 09/10/2010 21:54

loulou - yes, we do :) I have most all of them for an author study in my class at school.

Would be lovely to see them talk about their books/writing!

Poor ds :( It is difficult to take in and understand.

The book I recommended - the last time I used it was when a students' grandparent had recently passed away and the conversation we had as a class afterward was very interesting. Great for the kids. The time I used it before that was for a student who told me her dog was run over by a bus. I rang the mother offering condolences and to tell her that we'd read this book...etc and her response? "what dog???" Hmm the 6 year old had made the whole thing up! Crying and everything! Confused. Turns out she really wanted a dog....

Coconutfeet · 10/10/2010 10:07

Star - that's very funny. I can imagine your face when you found out it wasn't true.

Loulou - S got What the Ladybird Heard for his birthday and he loves it! The Julia Donalson books are really nice for adults to read aren't they. Unlike some other of S's books that he loves. My heart always sinks when he asks me to read him a Thomas the Tank Engine book. Ugh.

50ft - I don't know if I missed it but when are you supposed to be going away? You must be feeling pretty tense.

StarExpat · 10/10/2010 10:47

There has to be a Market for an author to write a shorter, more rhythmic Thomas book!

Poor N has had really bad nappies for a while, hasn't she? What's up? Can you try taking something out of her diet? Try taking cows milk out and just see what happens, maybe? Keep giving cheese, yogurt...etc. but take out cows milk (maybe sub goat's milk or other?).... just a suggestion. I know someone who did this and things cleared up after a really bad run of horrid nappies.

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/10/2010 20:39

Evening all. Had a busy but lovely birthday weekend. D has had a wonderful day at home with friends, liked all of his presents, and was very pleased with himself for blowing out the candles on his cake!
Thankfully my jaw has started to feel a lot better today too - phew!

Hope everyone else has had a great weekend too.

How did the op go ronshar?

Happy birthday to D :) Glad he enjoyed his weekend!

We picked pumpkins today, or as Q says "pu-kins" :) And carved them into jack-o-lanterns. he loved the whole thing. Particularly choosing his pumpkin in the pumpkin patch, then carrying it to the kiosk to pay. He found one that was only 1.3 Kg and carried it everywhere, grunting and letting everyone know what hard work it was, of course! lol

Yes how are you, Ronshar?

Coconutfeet · 10/10/2010 21:17

Happy Birthday D! I've completely lost track of whose birthday is when. Who's next?

Pumpkin patch sounds fun Star. Has your new estate agent been able to get some more viewings on your flat yet?

Poor N Myjob. S has had a really explosive bottom for the last week and what Star just said has made me realise that it's coincided with us giving him cow's milk not goat's milk to drink. Thanks Star! I don't know if it's a coincidence as he was poorly last week but I'm going to switch him back and see whether there's a difference.

We had a very long extended lunch out in an Italian restaurant for a friend's birthday today. Really lovely.

StarExpat · 10/10/2010 21:19

Oh and the molars. Those caused a bit of messy nappies from Q but N has had them for a lot longer...

Honeymoonmummy · 10/10/2010 21:36

Hi all and happy birthday to our two year olds! It's safe to say Pops will be last as 5 Nov, although I think someone was same day...

I've had another manic week, ended up crying

in office tho thankfully in front of one person, then off sick Fri with terrible headache. Had small bleed week before but all ok. I've got the dreaded SPD back so that's me walking round like an old woman for the rest of the PG... My boobs are sore, the constipation is just horrendous ... Why did i think i liked being PG???? 17.5 weeks anyway, nearly halfway there. That's my rant over, hope you're all ok x

They think it was to do with the (persistent) thrush I've had... Forgot to mention that one!!!!! I've got midwife appt on tues, going to push for physio this time. The spd went straight after the birth last time thankfully. Just been on march 2011 thread and one of ladies discovered on 20 week scan that her baby had died and had to deliver him or her... So sad Sad

Honeymoonmummy · 10/10/2010 21:56

Oh can someone tell me how to get onto fb oct thread, or msg me the link? Can't remember how to get on it!

Oh I forgot about that! I used one of those last time. Thanks. I started feeling movement earlier this time, bang on 16 weeks.
Right, off to bed for me. Night!

50ftQueenie · 11/10/2010 09:29

M had a lovely birthday on Saturday thanks everyone.

Morning.
Happy birthday to D & M for the weekend. I bet they were spoilt rotten up at the CSWS householdSmile

Loulou. I am so sorry for your loss. Your ds reacted the same way dd2 did when our cat got run over earlier this year (not compareable by the way) She cried widly for about 30 mins then carried on as normal! I love how things are so easy to deal with at that age.

PistachioGrinGrinYou know why!

Myjob sounds like B is doing fab at school. Reading already. How clever, just like his mummyWink

HMM. Seriously take it easy. Being pregnant when you already have a child is hard work. Especially with the hours you work. Telling off over. How excited are you yet?

CSWS, I have two lovely little kittens who will help you out with the mouse problem. They are doing a good job on my spider filled house.

50ft. When are you due to go away? Have they said when M's passport will be back?

CF. Nightmare with the PMT but it does sound like you needed to stop bf so you have a better chance to conceive again. If it helps mine were bad to start but settled down a couple of cycles in.

Op went ok. DH was shite as usual. He grumped around all weekend moaning about how much he had to do and has gone to work today for a rest. So instead of the two weeks off work I would get if I was in a proper job I got about 12 hours.
Sometimes I hate being a mother!!!!

ronshar · 11/10/2010 11:39

Star. I didnt forget you.
Bloody well done for going to the nurse on Thursday. I am very pleased that you have made such a big step forward.
You should be very proud of yourself.

Ronshar, that's awful :( Tell dh to stay home!

If it helps, working ft and being a mom to a toddler and having "sick days" isn't wonderful, either. If I'm really ill, I'm not going to drive Q to the cm for 8am until 3.30pm out by where I work, he will stay home with me if I need to stay home, so I've still got him to look after and all that goes with it, which is entirely unhelpful when ill.

DH drives a motorcycle so couldn't bring him, either, and he can't take a day of when I'm sick because he has to save his sick days for when he's really ill or when Q is really ill and needs to be home.

I do often feel that I'm not "allowed" to be sick ever since becoming a mom.

But if your dh can take time off, he should!!
