My heart drops at the thought of turning 2 :( I know it's a good thing, but still... My baby...

loulou33 · 07/09/2010 22:12

HIYA!!!!

I know, I know I've been missing in action for god knows how long but I couldn't keep up with the massive number of posts each day and got lost Sad

Anyhow, what have I missed Grin

Joe is 2 on Friday and I am so sad about it, very excited too but sad not to be able to call him a baby anymore...

DS1 has been at school for 2 weeks and starts full days next week, he's loving it and Joe is loving having more time with us on his own. His speech has come on leaps and bounds - just shows we spent too much time talking to chatterbox DS1 than Joe Sad He's finally got the hang of putting words together but its slow going. He's climbing, jumping, skipping and running around so his motor skills are clearly where his efforts have gone in. He has his 2 year check soon with HV so we'll see what she makes of him. He's probably grin and laugh at her a lot to hide the fact he can't say much!!

Hope you are all well and planning birthday parties etc.....

StarExpat · 08/09/2010 12:38

Hi Loulou :) Good to hear about Joe and you!

Q took a while to start talking but now that he is it's becoming clearer by the day and everything is coming along.

You missed csws having another baby! Grin

Hello Loulou. Lovely to 'see' you again.

Star -Well done to Q. I can't believe only 6 months ago you were really worried about his speech and now he's really flying! Fabulous. What a clever boy!

Pistachio - I have looked on FB and left you a message there.

Myjob - When does DS actually start school? They've all gone back round here already.

Ronshar - I wouldn't be mean to your cats and certainly wouldn't put them in the bin..... That would mean touching them. Shock You didn't come to play in the holidays....

Yesterday I found out that I am allergic to some antibiotics! Lucky me! One big fat red & swollen face, scratchy throat and £18 on medicine later and I am feeling much better. I feel exotic and special now though.

Pistachio - I had a nasty bout of cystitis so had the AB specifically for urinary tract infections. It disagreed with me. Back on safe (for me) reliable amoxicillin!

Myjob - Ah, all will be fine. DS went back last Thursday and the reception year started Monday.

StarExpat · 08/09/2010 14:41

oh 50ft how exciting! I have a similar reaction to some over the counter medicines. Tis lovely (been waiting to use that word "tis" Grin ). It's actually awful and a worry if ever an emergency but good you found out now.

I know, I can't believe I thought he'd never speak! The latest is "biggun" for "big one" I'm so Blush as he sounds like a redneck hunter saying "biggun"! lol

50ftQueenie · 08/09/2010 14:48

Star - My GP said that she had an unexpected adverse reaction to some medication she was taking.... only she had taken 14 tablets before the reaction started. She was on steroids for two weeks to control the reaction! The antihistamine didn't really work so I probably won't take anymore (I only took one last night) but then it never works for my cat allergy either. I can join the 'feeble bodies that over react to mundane medicines" club now. Grin

OP posts:
CantSleepWontSleep · 08/09/2010 16:21

If the antihistamine doesn't work then def don't take 50ft, as it will knacker your milk supply for nothing! I worried about even taking one when a wasp stung me the other day (am allergic).

Hello loulou! Yes, I have another son (2 months old), KSal is expecting one very soon, and Heather is due today iirc (though doesn't often post on here either).

CSWS - I have looked it up in the past and Kellymom reckon it's a bit of a myth about the antihistamines, BUT..... with a tiny infant I wouldn't take the risk. With big old hefty M, I'm less worried. Grin

Pistachio - I am normally ok with medicines, but the list of ones that affect me is getting longer.... Oh and dairy really affects me now too. If I have anything fattier than skimmed milk my stomach hates it!

Q has been "testing boundaries" with us as much as he possibly can over the past several days. Every day I collect him from cm, she says he's "the perfect child" and that he does everything he's told, eats his lunch with no fuss, holds out his hand before crossing the street, stops immediately when she says stop, is gentle and nice to the other kids, enjoys his nap every day even when she's put him in another room Shock Shock (he sleeps well at home and settles well but only in his bed in the one spot with the fan on and star light on and x amount of toys in his bed...etc. I know I know kids are always better behaved for others... but, honestly? This is really extreme.

coconutfeet · 08/09/2010 20:48

Evening ladies. Just checking in briefly.

Pistachio - I saw your fb and have responded.

School has been absolutely manic. My new class are lovely and I'm really enjoying getting to know them though.

S was running around naked this evening. He came in and told me there was a wiggly worm in the front room. When I went in he'd done a big poo on the floor. Lovely.

Glad you're feeling better now 50ft.

Welcome back Loulou!

We've got mice. Yuk. Every time I go into the kitchen and turn the light on I see one scuttling down the side of the dishwasher. Not sure if it's the same one or if we've got loads.

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/09/2010 20:54

Grin at you thinking that is extreme star. That is normal. Little cheeky monkeys aren't they Grin?

cf - we have mice too. Keep appearing in our (currently empty) cereal cupboard. Teeny tiny field mice because they have harvested the fields around us.

Grin at wiggly worm poo.

Honeymoonmummy · 08/09/2010 20:55

Hi all, for those of you who have read my FB message, will you ever forgive me for not telling you sooner??

And for those of you who haven't...do. Grin

StarExpat · 08/09/2010 20:57

oh :( cf. That's not nice. Glad you're enjoying your new class, though! I'm enjoying mine, too... but they are much, much more needy than last year and just feeling really tired from trying to give all of them 1:1 in everything. There are only 15 so it seems like it should be very possible, but it's just that... it's expected. But some kids need loads more time than others but you don't want to cut the others short...etc. same old same old.

LOL about the wriggly worm! and eeewwww.

Oh Star bless you my lovely. Almost every child does that and as CSWS, it's not extreme in the slightest. DS is an ANGEL at school, perfect behaviour yet he is a totally poo at home! Really really naughty at the moment.

Hmm - No, I will never forgive you.

CF - How lovely for you. But it is very cute that he called it a wiggly worm. Awwww.... Hmm

CSWS - Awwwwww.... teeny tiny field mice? How cuuuuuuute!

Had scan yesterday, MS has been pretty constant since 8 weeks but nothing too drastic and i've been completely exhausted... god I've been dying to talk about this to you guys!!! I would have told you if you weren't friends on FB!! DH swore me to secrecy. I've been posting on the March 2011 thread under a pseudonym! Grin

StarExpat · 08/09/2010 21:07

Congrats HMM :)

Ok, lately, when we sit Q down for any meal at home over the weekend or throughout the week... he looks at his plate and screams "moooooooore! mooooooore!" then throws himself on the floor and tosses about crying. "I want mooooooore!" then a quicker but quite dramatic "I want more, I want more IIIII want mooooooore!"

We say "more of what?" and tried to get him more... didn't work. So, we've been ignoring him. But he does it every time. Particularly bad if it's something he likes.

If he's holding a biscuit or cracker or some sort of yummy snack, he wants "my twos" (one in each hand = 2), but flips out about eating one of them because then they will be gone. He doesn't trust that if he eats one, we'll give him more.... probably because if it's a cookie, we don't always give him more iyswim.

aaaarrrgggghhhhhh

So, we just ignore him and wait for him to give in and just realize that he better eat what's there if he wants it. And he usually does. But I'm so sick of going through this.

I asked cm if he did this at all today because I'd be MORTIFIED if he did it for anyone else... and thank god he doesn't. She just went on and on about how perfect he was and why couldn't all kids be like him Hmm

CantSleepWontSleep · 08/09/2010 21:07

Now we see why you were looking at toddler beds! We are actually about to buy this one.
