Myjob, that sounds like perfect timing. Hope N feels better soon.

Star - How is Q now? Don't feel bad if you need to cancel tomorrow - I'm going out now but just drop me a line.

London Zoo was great but I'm exhausted. It was for a friend's ds's birthday and a good time was had by all, despite the rain. I've not tried the other zoo you mentioned Star. I'll give it a go. My mum and dad met in that park many moons ago - they both worked in the circus.

Hired help sounds great CSWS. What do they do? You're right about the crocs. I went to get a cheap pair from Next but they'd sold out in his size so I ended up getting a pair of real ones for £10. I'm trying to train him to give them to me instead of chucking them out of the buggy.

StarExpat · 04/08/2010 20:32

Now I have the stomach bug. I hope it's better tomorrow, but I wouldn't want to pass it on to you or S from Q or I sorry about that. Was looking forward to Q and S playing and us chatting!

Star maybe you both need to be exposed to some more germs Come to my house. Should give your immune system a boost

Myjob. That sounds horrid for N again. Is it teeth coming through? W has just got his 2 lower cannine teeth through. September is going to be a very exciting month for the Myjob household.

Pistachio you are having a great holiday. A good nights sleep, lots of other adults to help with the children and less than two weeks to back to school for you

CSWS. Have you got staff? Do you think you could hide in the playhouse in the garden and let them get on with it all? Just come back at feed times I would like staff like that

CF. I am sure that as a teacher the summer holidays are heavenly. As a parent not so much. When do we get to sit down and do nothing but watch TV and eat chocolate??

50ft. Feisty is so much better than meek and mild Thats what I have found anyway!

I was watching W climbing the apple tree in the back garden earlier. He was trying to put back on the apples that had fallen down. Strange boy. I think he was pretending to be a monkey as at one point he was hanging from a high branch by one hand screaming with laughter. I had to call DH to come and watch with me from the lounge window. Very funny. When W noticed us looking he got down and came running indoors to tell us all about it!!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/08/2010 07:35

Hope you're feeling brighter this morning star.
I forgot to answer your question re my help. Not the cleaner, no. This is a teacher from dd's nursery school. We have her for 2 weeks and then another teacher for the 2 after that.

50ftQueenie · 05/08/2010 14:34

Hello all. Got a few minutes peace from DS as he is at a party. M is watching tv to give me time to look on the internet do some bits.

Ronshar- W is fabulous! At CSWS's M climbed up the climbing frame and hung off by one hand but she screamed because she is a big wuss & was scared. She needs to see W more often to show her how it's done.

Star - Ugh to sickness bug. M had one recently but she was the only one to get it. I did wonder if it might have been something to do with touching dead crabs on the river bank.....

Myjob - Glad things went well at the hospital. Do you get to clean up all the poo and sick? Poor N, she seems to be one sickly bubba!

CSWS - Hope you're managing to stay sane now you've got some proper help (rather than Mr CSWS's brand of "looking on the Mac rather than after the children" help ) M keeps asking to see D.

CF - I haven't been to London Zoo in AGES. I think M would love it. Did S have fun?

Hmmm.... naughty M managed to post that before I was finished.....

Pistachio - M's small flirtation with sleeping in her own room passed quickly. She now points to our room and says "M's room, no mummy's room' then points to her own room and says "No M's room, clothes room."

I seem to be spending most of the holidays so far cleaning up. DS makes SO much more mess than M. It normally takes me about 30 mins to tidy and vacuum the living room but today with DS's mess thrown in, it took three times that! My lovely clothie friend came to visit yesterday and we went to the farm. M LOVED all the animals but most of all loved the piglets. It was nice to be out of the house. DS was at my dad's of it was just us girls. I can't believe how Autumnal the weather is (I love it though) and I am now stressing about sorting the DC's A/W wardrobes!

How exciting pistachio! I can't wait to
Meet you

50ft that's how I feel about dh being home... So much more mess. We've had fun together the 3 of us but now I just want to be alone with Q again for a day or two... Just until dinner time I like to do what I want, when I want without having to constantly consider what dh wants. How selfish!!
Feeling a but better here today though definitely not 100%. Q had a dentist appointment (his first! On my booking.... They thought it "odd" that I would want my 22 month old's teeth checked ). anyway, no D or V at the time he seemed ok so we stopped at the barber and it's. Bit shorter than I wanted but hopefully it will grow quickly. I like the length, not short. It's not horrible, though. I can't believe he sat... Tricky at the end, though!

StarExpat · 05/08/2010 19:54

Back to feeling rough Q seems fine besides freezing hands and feet but he seems ok. A but of D but no more V for him. I bought pants for him today cheap ones from tesco as I know they will all be ruined. I just don't know how to start. He's definitely interested and tells us when he's gone about 70% of the time (but never when out - only at home ).

Dh doesn't want to be stuck at home for days potty training his words! Argh

Myjob how is N today?

Thanks pistachio. That makes sense. I certainly don't want to force him if he's not ready... I also don't want to hold him back. He can nearly always hold in a wee or poo when nappy free. After his nap today, I put him on the toilet, saw a very small bit of wee on end of his willy and he did nothing but said pee pee, clapped and got down. Then put on a pull up, he stopped, put his hand over the pull up and said "I pee pee" I pulled it down and surely he had! ?? He then wanted the pull up off.

It is big isn't it Myjob. I'm glad you've got a referral. Hopefully that'll shed some light on it.

50ft - I missed your question earlier. Sorry. Yes, S LOVED the zoo! We didn't get around that much as there were 5 toddlers running in different directions but he particularly liked the gorillas and the giraffes too (although their pens are really depressing). He also enjoyed the show where they get animals out and explain about them - he was very taken with George the parrot. I'd definitely recommend it, but definitely do the 2 for 1 thing as it's really expensive otherwise.

We're not potty training yet. Although S has done a couple of wees in the potty, this evening he put it on one foot and scooted round the room shouting "skateboard!". I think that means he's not ready... Confused

pepperrabbit · 06/08/2010 20:14

At least he's keeping it on the ground cf - J wears hers as a hat..

Where is monkey world ?? Q LOVES the monkeys at chessington!! I agree about the cages at the London zoo, cf :( when we took our students 2 years ago, that was something that a 6 year old picked up on.... Sparked conversation among others, too. We continued the discussion at school, did some research about their natural environments and the sort of space they would need... Compared it to us living in a small space and nEver being able to go anywhere else... Etc. The kids got together and wrote a letter to ZSL London explaining what they found out about the animals, the space, their pens... The concrete only pens needing grass...etc. They also noted the areas they thought were great and that they had a lovely time and thank you so much for having our school for the day...etc (all their own ideas- no input from me, I only helped provide books and materials from the Internet And gave them stamps and envelope- they even looked up the address and one child brought in a piece of post from home so they could see how to write on the envelope properly!!)- but ZERO response from ZSL. Not even a token automated response. I was so disappointed.

StarExpat · 06/08/2010 21:10

Q wouldn't know what a skateboard is. S has an amazing vocabulary!

He fell and got a fat lip today. It looks like we abuse this child. :( he can't sort out eating or drinking as it stings so much (split from top on outside of lip all the way around inside of mouth)

Myjob that is a very big bump. Can they not drain it? Does it bother B at all? I have the bump I was on about before again on back of my knee since starting shred... But it's nothing like that. Poor boy :(

Oh we lost Q's Larry Loadall pullback truck today - I just went to tesco to get a replacement and he's finally sleeping. That and that stupid strobe ball... He sleeps with weird things! We're on strobe ball 3 and truck 2 now :)

pepperrabbit · 06/08/2010 21:24

I just ordered 4 new strokeys from the JoJo Maman website as they've started selling them again. Not sure what the collective word for flat pink rabbit comforters is... a herd?
star - Sleeping with a truck is a tiny bit unusual! Did you buy some extra spares?? It's cost me a fortune on Ebay when J keeps losing her strokeys - we've had 3 pink ones and a blue one go AWOL so far. hence buying 4 now Smile

coconutfeet · 06/08/2010 21:26

Oh poor Q. That sounds painful, poor thing.

Rubbish about London Zoo not respondin. How disheartening for the children. I've got very mixed feelings about whether I should even go there really. I know they do a lot of conservation work but really, some of the older animal accomodation is grim isn't it. It seems so cruel.

Monkey World Star. Myjob - I'm envious. I'd love to take S there. We'll be coming down there sometime soon though - I'll definitely let you know.

Pepper - We have the Potty Hat in our house xsometimes too! I can see a disaster occuring one day. Smile

Pepper he also needs his "choo choo" (battery Thomas engine) and "my ding" (the small section of his Thomas track that is the "station" and it has a bell that dings when the train passes through...) at the foot of his bed at bedtime. And a book - this varies by night depending on what we've read. Most often something with a snake dinosaur or other "roar" or a train book.

He does lay down and only takes about 20-30 mins to get to sleep on average. Then I take the book out and move the truck and ball to the side so he doesn't hurt himself. But when he wakes before leaving the room he shouts "my choo choo! My ding! My ball! Truck!" collects them, and then we can go out and get breakfast. "eat peeeeeease!"

StarExpat · 06/08/2010 21:59

Myjob I didn't want Q to have a comforter for that very reason. But now that he can talk he asks for them. Before he got nothing just whatever was in his bed and his cup of water.

Oh! Q drinks an entire sippy cup of water through the night for the past few months. Do yours drink in the night? He gets plenty in the day. But he will wake and guzzle water like he's had nothing for weeks then sleep again.... If I give no water he just cries.??

StarExpat · 06/08/2010 22:03

And he has a little ball that he often wants at night. It's very small so he calls it "my baby!" and we search and search and search for this damn baby ball. It's so funny because dh and I will always say stuff like, "oh there's the baby" or "put the baby up there so we know where it is" all referring to this ball!! Lol. He also calls anything else that is little "a baby". We were watching cars go by earlier and he said "car ...car.... Truck.... Car..... A baby!"(it was a mini! Lol)

ronshar · 06/08/2010 22:23

Another week over. Thank goodness.

50ft. I think it best to keep W away from all of your much better behaved children. He is leading them all into naughtiness. What with the climbing out of highchairs, taking his straps off in the car seat, jumping in water, walking round with a big stick etc etc.

Star dont worry about the bruises. W has a new one on his forehead. Luckily his hair covers it over.

CF London Zoo is a tricky one. It is a zoo, so bad but does alot of conservation, so good. I have been once and came away feeling sad for so many of the animals. Especially the Tigers. They looked so sad.
I love S skateboard potty. That sounds pretty coolSmile
Do you think you will be going to monkey world in these holidays? I am trying hard to get down to Myjob at some point and will fit in a trip to monkey world at the same time (hopefully)
