Miamla I did not mean to overlook your request HOWEVER said photo shows how trashed my living room is was so it will not be shared today. Maybe tomorrow when the same room is much worse, making the said photo proof it was clean....cleaner....you get my point. Only slightly about my domestic skills.

OP posts:
MrsMiamla · 15/07/2010 08:14

ok, i'll let you off TS but i'm willing to bet our living rooms are all in a similar state!

morning...
DS in a strop this morning because he was calling for daddy when he woke up and mummy appeared instead. I'm grumpy because i slept really badly and DH still ignoring me so i'm feeling sad as well.

hey ho, i'm focusing on world domination and my gorgeous son today. fuck him (DH), his loss

springaporesling · 15/07/2010 08:32

Miamla I can't believe he's still in a sulk! DS does the same thing when its not the person he's expecting. I can't believe we have 3 or 4 new start-ups on the thread it's great.

DS seems to be getting very scared of things recently. He freaked out over Ronald McDonald yesterday (not a bad thing I suppose). I was trying to get him home and there is a small playground that we had to walk past. DS wanted of course to go on the slide but next to it is a life-size Ronald sitting on a bench and DS was terrified. Also they are practicing for National Day parade and send over jets and helicopters on Saturday evening DS seems very bothered by the noise. He's also obsessed with things being clean. Is this normal?

Right must go. Have been on a course all week and have an exam tomorrow morning and Mum and Dad arrive tonight at about 9pm and have to get their room ready and go meet them at the airport as they've never been to the new house before.

springaporesling · 15/07/2010 08:33

Red I think I may require some assistance with punctuation in the above

MrsMiamla · 15/07/2010 08:38

spring we've said it since they were little but S and DS really are two peas in a pod! DS is same re clean, hates anything being on his hands

he's good with planes though. have you tried sitting down with him and explaining exactly what's happening?

T used to cower in a corner whenever he heard the music on an ice cream van. so i took him out there to meet the van and now he dances to the music! I think they have trouble dealing with noises they can't explain

Hope your exam and parental visit both go really well

RedLentil · 15/07/2010 08:44

'Right must go. Have been on a course all week and have an exam tomorrow morning and Mum and Dad arrive tonight at about 9pm and have to get their room ready and go meet them at the airport as they've never been to the new house before.'

And you'd have time to punctuate too?

Ms.Hots. Sorry to go missing. My FB is missing out message alerts. I'm not in Leeds until Saturday, and then doing a super-fast tour of radiator/kitchen shops with dh. Our first day out as a couple for almost exactly two years. We'll definitely do the meet-up thing the next time I'm over.

cyteen · 15/07/2010 09:54

spring we had a massive thunderstorm last night at about 8pm and DS was definitely unnerved by the unexplained noise - not crying, but standing up in his cot and pointing at the window with lots of curious babble. One of us had to stay with him till he fell asleep, which he doesn't usually want (at the moment anyway).

Miamla your H really is a cock end sometimes.

feeling rather blue myself today. DP is fed up at the moment due to work and stuff, and I fully sympathise, but...I am feeling a bit neglected, physically. He just doesn't seem interested in sex atm and it's making me feel very lonely

MrsMiamla · 15/07/2010 10:56

cyteen, do you fancy running away somewhere?

I'm sick of all this. He got up half an hour ago, apparently he's only talking to me if it helps DS (eg i couldn't find his cup so he helped by telling me where it was) and then criticised what i was doing with DS and questioning why i hadn't taken him for a nap. Erm, because DS was asking for a drink and i was in the process of working out what kind of drink and in what cup he wanted it in (DS is a funny little thing and will only drink specific liquid out of specific cups but the rules change on a daily basis!)

wish we had some glass bottles. i find going to the bottle bank really theraputic. well as soon as DS wakes from his nap, we're going out for a nice lunch together and to buy some more stuffing for all these cubes i need to make over the next few days. DH can stay out in his shed all day again for all i care

springaporesling · 15/07/2010 11:33

Cyteen sorry you're feeling blue - what would happen if you took things into your own hands so to speak (assuming you haven't already)?

Have explained what the noises are to him and he seems to 'get' the planes/helicopter thing or at least he points at them says plane, very fast, in the sky etc and we have just about got over the thunderstorms one. I think he's just quite sensitive maybe. Our neighbour's little girl was having a screaming fit this morning because she didn't want her Dad to go to work and we could hear it inside. DS got very upset by it.

Miamla that is very childish. Hope you have a lovely lunch with T.

Again must go - supposed to be revising.

cyteen · 15/07/2010 11:53

That's just it, it's always me who makes the approach and I'm tired of it. Even hugs have to be requested at the moment I mean, wtf?

cyteen · 15/07/2010 11:53

Just to clarify, he's always happy to give hugs (and other stuff) when I do ask. But why should I have to ask? I want spontaneous affection, not to have to nag it out of him.

QueenofDreams · 15/07/2010 11:59

Ooh miamla MrM is being a bit of a childish idiot isn't he? What was he sulking over again? Good God. I agree with you, let him get on with it and you enjoy your day

cyteen sorry you're feeling low as well. I've found that DP's job stress affects us as well.

DS also hates having anything on his hands. He also uses wipes to clean the carpet, then goes and throws the wipe in the bin. I've also seen him pick clothes up off the floor and put them in the washing machine . He gets very upset if he hears someone crying. mini-SIL is the worst for this as she has such a drama-queen wail that goes on for blardy ever over the slightest thing, and it always makes him cry. anyway he's moaning for me to read spot for about the millionth time today.

QueenofDreams · 15/07/2010 12:04

cyteen x-posts. I had exactly this with DP a while ago. I got fed up with it eventually and spoke to him about it. It's still hit and miss tbh, he's going through another phase like it, and it is directly related to work stress. At the moment I get the obligitory peck as he leaves in the morning. Anything more I have to initiate/specifically ask.

luckoftheirish · 15/07/2010 12:15

Hello Ladies,

Cyteen- I'm always up for some snogging, c'mon up here and I shall touch you inappropriately!

Loti - welcome home

love to all else, dinger just dinged!!

hotterpotter · 15/07/2010 14:17

Hello loti I am so glad you had a good time and your H was a proper father to your girls for once. Maybe once he's moved out he will continue to improve

Sorry to hear of all the cuddle woes and idiot DH/Ps I rarely get a cuddle off DH and got fed up of always initiating sex so we have a standing weekly agreement which is not exactly romantic but stops me feeling like i am always nagging for it. I do miss the romance of the early years but know he does love me so that's good. We have been together 16 years and it's our 6th wedding anniversary on saturday so will be interesting to see if he makes a fuss. I haven't got him anything

What I have got today though is this for DS' birthday He is frever climbing on stuff now and yelling 'donkey riding' so think he'll love it, and was a bargain (I think) at only £23

Red I am SO sorry to miss you this weekend, but couldn't get out of work for more than an hour anyway I hope you have a fab time with your DH and really enjoy your time a deux, even if it is kitchen shopping

alittlebitshy · 15/07/2010 14:59

Hello.
miamla uh oh. Tis one of you DH's random little sulks. I guess it seems worse atm because he is at home in the day so isn't just ignoring you in the eve but all day! Hope he gets over it soon I could not cope with being ignored/sulked at. Hence a good screaming row is the feature in the ALBS house on occasions .

got to drive somewhere i have never driven before so am feeling jittery am always like this. (miamla - tis high beech if you are interested lol). dd has a pond dipping party. can't decide whether ds and i will come home or stay nearish and have coffee and look in shops. i suspect the latter (low on petrol so less driving ).

loti glad it was a lovely holiday. glad h was well behaved and that you feel refreshes ready for the hard times ahead (though easier day to day i suspect).

MrsMiamla · 15/07/2010 15:02

ooh albs, my bro's working in the king's head atm! you could pop in and say hi!

alittlebitshy · 15/07/2010 15:08

lol miamla. hello miamlabro. remember me? mines a g and t and H's is a milk please!

think will pop to loughton to costa and to get a pressie for tomorrow's party - lots of parties. one on my bday too, how very dare threy!

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2010 18:00

It just dawned on me. My primary responsibility is to the well being of 2 small children. Why do I even bother to worry about all this other stuff.

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2010 18:05

LittleNut how do you stay focused on THE KIDS and not everything else under the sun in your house? What hours to you have other children present? I'm pondering my own schedule. I do best when I can compartmentalize life.

Hey everybody! Not meaning to ignore but lacking focus in the worst of ways today. AND my Blackberry is acting up.

OP posts:
LittleNutTree · 15/07/2010 18:58

What is it with all the DH/DP partner behaviour just now? Is it a full moon or something?

TS I do the housework that relates to the mess that the kids make and that's it! I do the dishes and general tidying but everything else gets left until the weekend! I work from 7.30am until 6.00pm every day, and by the timme I've fed Gabriella, bathed her and put her to bed, I'm too tired/don't have the motivation to do much else! I seem to have a work switch in my head that I can flip and it stops me worrying about what the house looks like! Although, when the kids have all gone and I look at the house, I really hope that the parents don't think that it looks like this all the time!

hotter, for some reason I was half expecting to see one of these when I clicked on your link. Think it must have been the 'donkey riding' comment. Our toddler group has a couple of these inflatables and there's always a massive fight over them!

Welcome back LOTI! I'm really glad to hear that your holiday went well and that H was on his best behaviour - hope it continues!

Any joy with your scan date yet Queen?

TwilightSurfer · 15/07/2010 19:34

LittleNut I guess you are up, showered and fed before 7:30AM. Maybe that's part of my problem? I am seriously thinking about looking at this like a job. I feel so lost in the monotony right now.

HP We have a rocker pony. The girls sit on it while watching TV. DD1 got it from my uncle years ago and R enjoys that fact.

Lucky that sounds like a pleasant trip. You've got things under control.

I obviously DON'T! 2 girls killing each other in the next room.............

OP posts:
hotterpotter · 15/07/2010 20:29

OMG I have just got the rocking horse out of the car - didn't see it properly as my colleague came with me to give directions when I went to pick it up and he put it in the car for me whilst I paid - it's farking huge! The saddle comes half way up my thigh I just hope it's not too big for DS

RedLentil · 15/07/2010 20:36

Cyteen, sorry to hear you're feeling low.

We've been married for 9 years this week, and together for 14. We're mad about each other but there are ebbs and flows, where one or other of us is putting in more effort than the other.

There are also lines in the sand that have been drawn on various issues at points along the way. There are a few lines that get re-drawn on a regular basis.

Somewhere around years 3 and 5, we did serious evolving and worked out better ways of communicating with each other. I think Buckets and Ataraxis have had similar kinds of experiences in that way.

If a pattern is really upsetting you, then go on about it out loud until it's sorted. I hope things become easier for your dp soon. I know when dh was unhappy in his old job it affected all of us.

TS, parenting is another rollercoaster-type thing. Let it roll a bit until you find your mojo again. The girls will be fine.

Loti, it's good to know your dh can do the dad thing when he has to.

And having pontificated a bit, I'm turning off my new company mini-laptop and heading to Ikea with the man himself. With this Swedish shopping style anniversary celebration type thing, he is truly spoiling me.
