Hi everyone.

dizzy hope your Dad is doing ok. Take care of yourself deary.

Haven't been able to catch up properly so Hi everyone and hope you're all ok.
Hum. Really not much to report here at all. Sebastian's language explosion continues. He has added eat, train, bike, okay, on, off to his list of words lately.
Must get off and go do washing up. My lovely clean kitchen is already a mess again

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2010 12:43

Dizzy my heart goes out to you. ((((hug))))

Afternoon ladies I've been out to Sainsbos and spent £85! ONly a fiver of that was on myself . Bought O the scuttle bug (thanks dizzy for star tip off!), also got him a Little Tikes mud pie making sand pit/water play which was half price at £22.50! And bought the boys loads of shirts/tops, and some back to school trousers for ds1 (ffs, he's not even finished for summer yet!). Ahhh.

Came back and did housework. I feel FAB!!

QOD hope you're feeling brighter? Clever Seb

Who's readyforanything? Is it Albs? Did I miss something?

VG did the run startle you out of your cookie-wanting? I must start running, and stop being so idle. How far do you run? Lol at image of you standing afore the photocopier in Cyteen's veil . YOu might start a rumour...

cyteen if you dreamt that about LNT then so did I!

dizzy I hope your dad is doing ok? When I read that his neighbour had 'taken him in a bag' I wondered where she'd taken him!!lol. Ds1 claims he can speak Scottish, because he can say Trew-sers

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 12:53

Cece - loving the Trewsers - make sure he is rolling his RRRRrrrrss properly though!!

Red - send them over to me and the 6 of them will have a ball it will all be worth it when it is done

Sazz has landed safely in frenchy france god bless her and all who sail in her

Cyteen, please please post another shoe/veil link so I can see too.

QofD - lovely to hear all the new words!

Dad has had tests overnight and is having more today so staying in for meantime. I am wracked with guilt at not being able to be there. I should really go through but have the Env Health man coming at 3.30. Thank you for all your lovely kind thoughts.

Work has been ok but once again we are not back up to full strength so am waiting on my pita supervisor coming back and the main bitch so to speak If I can just keep conquering the cakey bakey world it will be fine

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2010 13:32

Dizzy think no more of work than you do a root canal. Mentally schedule it in the same manner, just a "thing" you have to do for a while then back to life. Oh and as usual life is giving you it's open arms and cold shoulder treatment simultaneously. Your father wants to see you happily succeeding in life so I'm betting he's okay with you not being immediately by his side. It does sound like he has a wonderful neighbor. She might need a thank you cakeybakey. (((hug)))

Shoes arrived today I am wearing them now (over my shocking pink socks ). They are gorgeous, and a much deeper green than in the photo, which is great.

Veil is apparently on its way. This is so exciting

oopsandbabycoconuts · 13/07/2010 14:24

Cyteen those are stunning shoes and veil.

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 15:43

cyteen I have those shoes in Red, they truely are a thing of beauty!!!

got to run, girls home

GladioliBuckets · 13/07/2010 16:40

They are v hot shoes.

LittleNutTree Increasing is the same anywhere in a row - do the stitch but before you drop it off, twist the needle into the back of the stitch to pull out another one. Or are you using a different method?

Dizzy Wise words from TS there, it's all about compartmentalising.

Oh God my house is totally out of control, I just can't seem to motivate myself despite having a party next week. I will however wipe the worktop tonight at least as I am making pesto cheese bread for NCT meeting tonight.

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 17:06

aarrgghh I've downloaded google chrome and lost all my tool bars and favourites

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 17:30

Dad out of hospital, he wants a good night sleep apparently he has been given stuff for angina and will be seeing the chest specialist next. Thank you for all your good wishes x

oopsandbabycoconuts · 13/07/2010 17:34

Yay for daddydixies going home.

We are taking DD to pizza express for supper as they have deal on for the local foodie festival. Back later.

RedLentil · 13/07/2010 20:28

They should still be in your old browser and you can ask Chrome to import them.

Yay for DaddyDixie being home.

RedLentil · 13/07/2010 20:31

destructions here

Chrome is lovely to use, so it's worth the niggles at first.

MrsMiamla · 13/07/2010 20:31

so pleased your dad's out of hospital. he'll feel better in himself in his own home

lol, DH has just shouted downstairs 'where are DS's pyjama bottoms?' Erm, i have no idea, he got him dressed this morning and i've been at work all day

LittleNutTree · 13/07/2010 20:38

cyteen those shoes are amazing and I love your veil too! Don't be about being excited, it's allowed and should be indulged if anything!! I am indeed pg, not your imagination and I hope not mine! I'm 10wks tomorrow - eek! I got my scan date through today for 2nd August and DH is freaking me out about it already.

Buckets, that sounds like what I'm trying to do but just can't get it. It's fine when I've got lots of stitches on the row but just can't seem to do it on the last one - maybe I'm just going to have to accept that after 50 million a few attempts over the years, I just can't do it! I did see a notice up in our community cafe, saying that someone was trying to set up a knitting group, so could maybe go along and put my inability at their feet!

Good going on the spending CC! Sounds like a productive afternoon! Gabriella loves her Scuttlebug and it's really small when folded so mega portable. She sits on it saying, 'I go bikey bikey'!

Sorry to hear you're having a manic time just now Red, it'll all be over soon though and you'll have a beautiful kitchen at the end of it hopefully with lots of cupboards to put the kids in when they get too much!

Good to hear your dad's out of hospital Dizzy, hope the angina medication helps to make him feel a bit more comfortable.

miamla you being out at work all day still doesn't explain why you don't know where T's pyjama bottoms are - is your psychic ability switched off during pregnancy??

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 20:50

thanks Red - shall persist

Nutty - how exciting about your scan, why is DH freaking you out about it?

cyteen · 13/07/2010 21:14

Very exciting LNT, although I did think 'why have they given her a date in August, that's ages away' and then mentally facepalmed - not the most organised bride

dizzy very glad to hear your dad is home, not least because it takes the pressure off you a little bit

Married friends, I have a guest list-related Q: how did you balance the whole ceremony+reception/reception only quotas, given that inevitably some people who are invited will say they can't come? DP and I have about 10 friends that we'd love to ask to the whole thing, including some who are miles away and so probably won't make it just for the reception, and about 10 people who are likely to flake out but who we have to ask to the whole thing

Do we:

(a) send the ceremony invites out first and then politely ask people if they're going to come;

(b) invite people as originally planned and then juggle once RSVPs start coming it;

(c) take a chance and invite everyone we want to the whole thing, even though if everyone then says yes we won't actually have enough room

Help!

dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 21:32

Cyteen, we did this but we had a get out clause as we got married on the 27th Dec and knew people wouldn't be willing to travel

please remember the most important thing in the planning of your day. it is YOUR day. Spend it with whom you wish and not those you feel obliged to invite for whatever reason.

How close are the numbers? Can you write out a list of definites and try to work out what leverage you have there?

I would invite all and wing it tbh - there are always going to be people who are unable to attend for one reason or another and it is worse having to 'up' the status of the invite later iyswim?

LittleNutTree · 13/07/2010 21:40

Thanks dizzy, I think it's just that he would feel that he couldn't or wouldn't want to deal with any bad news. He looks for signs in everything and the fact that I've been ill with a stomach bug, had a urine infection and my skin has broken out in a minging fungal infection all since I found out I was pg, are sure signs that something's up

August is unfortunately not ages away cyteen, although admitting that means I now have to admit that I will have a 2yr old! What's your date again for The Big Day? I'm not sure if I'll be any help on your question above, I went for option C. Although I didn't get a lot of RSVP's (doesn't seem to be the done thing anymore (annoyingly), so had to do some phoning around and reshuffling afterwards. There were a few people we wanted to invite t the ceremony but couldn't because of numbers, but we then bumped them up to all-day guests when others pulled out.

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2010 22:10

Cyteen I'd do "C".

TwilightSurfer · 13/07/2010 22:10

Dizzy that's wonderful news about your father. I hope he sleeps well this evening.

Primed both closets in the girls' room and the wall the closets are in. Primed twice actually. Ran out of primer. The play closet will take at least two more primer coats before I can use the real paint. Stupid me and my GRAPE cool paint color. When I say grape I mean GRAPE. There are three other walls in this room that will require two primer coats and two paint coats. I'm doing the hardest part first and quite honestly would like to quit. Searching for positives in my dreams tonight.

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 13/07/2010 23:44

oh and Cyteen, I put RSVP postcards (which are now being used as KnB cake signs!!) and stamped addressed enveloped in with the invites to encourage people to RSVP sooner - I also had on the back a request for their 3 fav songs for the DJ needless to say I ignored the majority and had my own play list!

It wasn't anything fancy, just a printed thingy with a tick option if they were attending/unable to attend, needed transport or had any dietary requirements.

LNT - it is hard not to worry, esp when you are the party not going through it physically. Allow him his concerns and have him manifest them in bringing you ice cream and rubbing your feet

thanks TS - he sounded shattered so I hope he will.

Have been busy in the kitchen so now have to do an online shop before bed - chase me away!

MrsMiamla · 14/07/2010 07:56

Ms D Dixies what were you doing here at almost midnight?!!

cyteen we had a list of people who we thought would definitely attend. a list who probably wouldn't but we had to invite them anyway (family thing), and a list of 'would be nice if they're there but unsure if they will or not'

We then had our total from 'all of the def atending' + '1/4 of the won't attend but need inviting' + '1/2 of the nice but unsure lot'

and we were actually really accurate! Until the last couple of weeks leading up to the wedding, i was astounded at how mnay dropped out, changed their dietary mind etc etc

lnt, you made me re my psychic ability! He managed to find a completely different pair, no idea where the previous ones are!

TS hope you got the news from your dreams that you were hoping for even if it was 'pick up phone book, search for painter/decorator, phone and book him, job done'
