Is everyone on Twitter now?

OP posts:
policywonk · 14/05/2010 20:32

Pretty much yup

Beachcomber · 14/05/2010 20:40

Lord no, I'm sure it's great but have enough trouble getting any work done as it is. I dare not even find out what twitter is really. I just parasitically sook up whatever more multitasking Mners bring to the leftie thread.

policywonk · 14/05/2010 20:47

Lots of tweets at the mo saying E-Mil is definitely standing - has announced it to his constituency activists in Darlington.

taffetacat · 14/05/2010 20:59

Ed M??

< cracks open another bottle in celebration >

No idea how to use Twitter

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 21:13

Thrilled about Ed. A Miliband but without any baggage. And Roy Hattersley backs him, which is a plus in my book.

Ewe · 14/05/2010 21:27

Glad things back to normal in here.

I couldn't bear it if Ed Balls won the leadership election, I would have to send back my (very recently acquired ) membership card so any Miliband is fine by me although I would like a woman to at least run.

I am on Twitter /applejuicesnap although mainly tweeting about my pickle of a two year old who will not go to sleep tonight. She keeps getting naked, I might just give in and let her sleep naked, it won't hurt right?

Someone on Twitter was saying that all members of labour party can vote irrespective of duration of membership so fingers crossed we'll get to vote against balls a say.

Awful thing that happened today to Stephen Timms, hope he gets well soon. I can't think what could motivate an attack against an MP, they're generally pretty inoffensive in terms of constituency issues in my experience.

onebatmother · 14/05/2010 21:28

Ooh warm glow!
The more I think about it the more I can TOTALLY imagine it.
He's a lovely man, with integrity, and so clever.

onebatmother · 14/05/2010 21:31

Yes my dd sleeping naked tonight Ewe. I gave in a loong time ago.

And yes, utterly awful about Stephen Timms - I think the woman in question is a bit unhinged rather than angry about a constituency issue though.

Will look for you Soph

According to this, Ed wants the Labour party to be bolder and more radical (sounds good to me) but wants to 'seize political territory vacated by the LibDems'. So how does that pan out? Are we talking civil liberties again/

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 21:35

Ed M, not Balls.

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 21:36

sophable- what are strengths of Ed vs David:

environment? age? more centrist? less Blairite?

I know that he looks dishier but I am sure that is nothing to do with it

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 21:38

taffetacat- I am twitter-less. I just cant succumb. It's MN or nothing for me.

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 21:40

David definitely considered a Blairite, Ed appeals to all wings of the party, including some of the trade unions. Has hardly put a foot wrong at Environment while David is considered tainted by association with Iraq war, complicit with torture etc. Plus Ed has never been photographed holding a banana afaik.

Ewe · 14/05/2010 21:42

The article I read, where I can't now remember, made it seem like it might be related to something specific as she had booked an appointment to see him at his constituency clinic. Clearly unhinged whichever way you cut it though!

Yes, I am giving up on the pyjama battle, absolutely not worth it and sleeping naked is quite comfy. Hoping that as she has only just quietened down she might sleep in tomorrow.

Tonight I am mainly going to be applying for internships, I know they are necessary but I find it so galling to work for free. I also think they are a contributory factor to why people working in politics tend to be rich, who else can afford to do all that bloody free work!?

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 21:42

cinnamontoast - all good points. Did you mean David had photo with his banana in his hand?

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 21:43

cinnamontoast - Sorry, I didn't read your banana sentence properly. All clear.

onebatmother · 14/05/2010 21:46
Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 21:46

my main plus tdiddy is NOT blairite, not tainted by war (apart from voting obv!) in way that his more photogenic (but somehow snakelike looking) brother is, fantastic webchat on mn (i know!) and an endorsement by roy is good enough for me! more radicalisation (i know coolfonz will laugh, but hey) also sounds very good to me.

can't bear ed balls, but that is based on kneejerk rather than anything else tbh.

and really really mistrust and dislike david milliband.

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 21:47

[can you claim any leftie credentials whilst looking at a farrow and ball colour chart?]

ahem.

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 21:51

Soph, that is pure Posy Simmonds!

Ewe · 14/05/2010 21:52

[I don't think so, but I am currently trying to decide whether to spend my bonus on stupidly overpriced shoes or stupidly overpriced bag. I keep forgetting I hate capitalism!]

ahem.

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 21:54

bananaman
{though I actually quite like David too and could be convinced that he was photoshopped)
