Is everyone on Twitter now?

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 14/05/2010 23:23

Are you on Twitter, ilmdamb? What name do you use if you are - then you can join us all!

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:24

Could someone explain advantage of Tweeting rather than MNing?

Quattrocento · 14/05/2010 23:24

I'm glad we got on to the meerkats.

So, let's hear it. What is or should be the OldNuLabour view on them? Because this is what baffled me at election time.

I think you are advocating spend spend spend?

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 23:24

tdiddy, i don't. but quite fancy it one day, i could be really shouty (actually i probably couldn't and would hate it but you know)...

i just can't bear thought of trawling through local politics for ages in order to build up to proper grown up job...also i have terrible misbegotten past AND hideous track record here!

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 23:25

stands behind quattro re keynes 'yeah...what she said'

cinnamontoast · 14/05/2010 23:29

You mean Keynes didn't advocate buying lots of expensive shoes and bags?

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:32

yes, I did say that we were right to spend which is what Brown and darling did to help stop the depression but you have to pull back from spending when the recovery starts. So the current debate about when to make the cuts is well placed.

Keynes pointed out the long term waste of high unemployment.

What I would do now is to cut public sector pay by say 5 per cent rather than cut too deeply too soon. I think politicians need to show the public the sums and explain

Heathcliffscathy · 14/05/2010 23:34

no cinnamon he said that was fine. very good for the economy apparently

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:39

yes, shoes and bags especially good for domestic bliss

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:41

One of the features of how the private sector responded to the recession was to reduce pay (as opposed to sending everyone home per previous recessions). I think that there is a positive social aspect to this. Of course you have to make some people redundant but that is not always the best solution.

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:42

night night

TDiddy · 14/05/2010 23:43

Just sayw that there is TDiddy already on Twitter . ID theft

ilovemydogandMrBrown · 14/05/2010 23:45

ilovemydog: are you on Twitter too? I will consider my options..considering "NuOldeDiddy"

Quattrocento · 14/05/2010 23:54

That's interesting. Have ordered. Before it arrives, I'd be interested to learn more about this proposition:

"He argues that, instead of promoting greater equality, the government has cultivated an "educational apartheid" that sees "25% of education spending go on 7% of pupils","

Where or how does this arise? I'm not aware of this disparity. Is it a reference to independent schools?

I have a radical policy on private school that would keep Mr Milliband OUT of office as it is so radical. They should be abolished. I send my kids to private school so you can accuse me of being a hypocrite. The thing is, I would be happy to send my kids to local comp/grammar school if everyone else had to do the same.

TDiddy · 15/05/2010 07:35

I have a slight problem with you having to be 30 years or younger to become PM these days. Experience is no longer cherished.

Just popping in to point and laugh at W. Hague - on Today this morning, being asked aboyt his meeting with Hillary Clinton, he said that she'd been "intrigued" by the formation of a coalition govt, and so he was "able to tell her all about it". Oh William, William. Do you not think she might have already met Angela Merkel at some point?

TDiddy · 15/05/2010 08:34

yes, and Simon Hughes mood and words hint that ConLib is not entirely a love in....reading between the lines. Labour need to stand ready.

hupa · 15/05/2010 08:47

The Guardian has an interview with Nick Clegg here and one with Vince Cable here today. I think it´s a bit soon for Clegg to be claiming the offence caused was worth it. I think he needs to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks/months/years before a judgement can be reached

I´d love to know what some on the right wing of the Tory party are thinking right now. It´s certainly not what they were looking forward to a few months ago and I wonder how long it will be before the internal wrangling breaks out.

TDiddy · 15/05/2010 08:52

Listening to Yvette C this morning I am remined why she would be so good as leader. Better tone and substance that any of the male candidates. She really need to be persuaded to reconsider but it is clear that she is thinking of her children. Why cant ED Balls read the bed time stories?
