Ah there you all are. Still no triumphant Tories about.

Interesting that Cameron appears to have apointed Paddy Ashdown to Defence. Very good. Hopefully with his military and diplomatic experience in Bosnia he can extract us from Afghanistan and leave the country with a chance of peace with a UN protection force.

I heard somewhere Huhne for Home Sec - he's got v good lefty credentials. They can't possibly give it to Grayling, surely!

I also heard that Lab were pretty hostile to Libs. But the last few days have been so full of false rumours, who knows?

I do like Paddy Ashdown that is indeed good news

MarionCole · 11/05/2010 22:03

What's happening in Manchester? What have I missed?

policywonk · 11/05/2010 22:04

Ewe - Liberal Conspiracy is desperately trying to get people to call the coalition (or whatever) ConDem instead of LibCon. Bet Sunny H is gutted.

Sam Cam looked absolutely euphoric. I sort of warm to her and I don't really know why. (Maybe because I'm a closet Tory? )

TheStraitsofWTF · 11/05/2010 22:04

William Hague looks like a baby. More so than churchill.

Go on Beta, start the thread yourself.

Surely there must be some Tories wanting to run about in the rain beating their bare chests and whooping?

Ah. well there are some of us who live in safe labour seats and equally my vote doesn't count either. Especially not now
Yes yes to this talking down of the state of the country - if Gideon had been in charge we would have had far worse job losses and repossessions. That is now all to come for those of us in areas propped up by the public sector. It makes me laugh when the say they need to 'grow the private sector' by pruning the public sector - yeah, right, so that't all the customers for your new businesses out of work...

lol at GAP year. I was having a look at Cameron's CV earlier (on Wiki so it mihgt not be completely accurate) after DH commented on his being 43yo but having never had a "normal Job"

oh god not paddy pantsdown - he'll be even more insufferable...

I was going to rejoin labour. Too bad I won't get a vote in the leadership election.
I'm a bit depressed about that tbh. I don't want any of them. Maybe could tolerate Alan Johnson as a caretaker. I'd prefer Harriet though.

taffetacat · 11/05/2010 22:08

condem ned with a poisoned chalice

g'night all

MmeLindt · 11/05/2010 22:08

Er, meant to say that Cameron had a gap year between Eton and Oxford.

Ewe · 11/05/2010 22:09

I know pol, bless him! No chance against the RW press! I like libcon but he doesn't particularly seem to be a man of conviction, his mind changes with the wind.

I know what you mean about SamCam, despite coming across very polished in public I reckon she is a bit like Phoebe from friends in reality

I don't think anyone is feeling particularly euphoric tonight, not even the tories (apart from the new cabinet etc, obv!).

AppleTreeWick · 11/05/2010 22:10

nearly too late why wont you get a vote?
Membership is one third of the vote for leader..,

Ewe · 11/05/2010 22:10

Sky News just said Liam Fox has defence.

nearlytoolate · 11/05/2010 22:11

just turned on news - what is Gove? I HATE him.
Bleugh. Feeling fed up now reality is kicking in.

BeenBeta · 11/05/2010 22:11

Let me be the first to say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with being 43 and never having had a 'proper job'.

nearlytoolate · 11/05/2010 22:12

AppleTreeWick you only get a vote once you've been a member for a year. same for selecting candidates too. Its to stop gerrymandering you know...

policywonk · 11/05/2010 22:12

Yes Ewe, can't quite come to grips with exactly what he thinks. I like his conviction though, he's a good value partisan.

Anyone getting the feeling we're going to b getting to know David Laws very well indeed?
