Hello

David gammon'am (gammon(h)am)

I like this gammon theme

Meanwhile

I am wathing alphablocks on cbeebies which seems to be advocating a lib/lab combo to bring on electoral reform. At least that's how I'm interpreting it.

PfftThePinkoLeftyDragon · 08/05/2010 09:00

I would like to know what Clegg's real motivation is for talking with Cameron first. Is it simply wanting to appear to be fair?

Surely it should be obvious that Labour are the only one of the two that can give the Liberals even half of what they want? Without PR, they stand NO chance in further years at all!

I really hate the fact that so much of England (not the sane ones in Scotland and Wales) seems to be utterly charmed by Gammonron.

And anyway, can't we just settle this with a fight? Brown Vs Gammonron, fight to the death. YOu know the result would be favourable to us. Harry Hill could be the MC

Ewe · 08/05/2010 09:15

I am trying to catch up with everything that happened yesterday and struggling, damn work and a night out getting in the way of constant news!!

Assume general theme is still that we're all screwed?

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 08/05/2010 09:17

ISNT - it feels like your vote isn't worth it (know how you feel - I live in SW19!) but it absolutely is. You can rest assured that the politicians look at how many people have voted for the opposition, at every level.

I hate, hate, hate the idea of tactical voting because I hate not voting for the party I have chosen. But one of the advantages of living in an area where your choice has no chance of being selected is that at least you don't have to consider the tactical option! (cloud meets silver lining)

Off to Chinese now - will catch up properly later.

ImSoNotTelling · 08/05/2010 09:18

Pfft he said all the way through the campaign that the party who got the largest proportion of the votes/seats should be given first chance to form a govt. He can't really back down now.

Gordonsavingexpertdotcom · 08/05/2010 09:33

Liam Fox on Radio 4 being aggressive and panicking reiterating that apparently the country has spoken (he didn't mention that what the country actually said was "meh"), and they have the most seats and largest percentage vote and so they should be allowed to govern, and it's our ball and and and it's not fair and NANNY! They want our ball!

Gordonsavingexpertdotcom · 08/05/2010 09:35

sorry - being aggressive and panicking

onebatmother · 08/05/2010 09:49

A HIDEOUS scenario was raised yesterday night when I was drunk discussing the possibilities.

Tories offer referendum (already squeaking about it on the Rightist blogs)
Clegg laps it up
Referendum is called
Murdoch puts everything he has into persuading people to vote NO
Tory govt revivified
Libs look like cunts
Death of reform as a credible issue for a generation

Haven't been through thread so apols if you've all been discussing this for the last day, but I was .

OBM

I can see that happening so easily.

Right.

We need to all decide that if there is a referendum we will all contact our local "yes to PR" people and do what we can, dish out leaflets etc etc.

Dd2 keeps asking me if we have a Prime Minster yet - she doesn't seem to be buying the constitutional arguement that we still have the old one..... I think we need another election sooner rather than later. At the moment we have three major parties who have all failed to win or lose convincingly. It's all a bit odd.

policywonk · 08/05/2010 10:20

lol NANNY!

CatIsSleepy · 08/05/2010 10:21

morning lefties

'Only thing to worry about is a Tory minority which calls an election fairly soon and gets a majority in it by convincing people we need to stop all the shilly shallying around.'
That worries me too beachcomber

also obm's nightmare scenario

and what lenin said about the tories not needing agreement to get cuts through. they could do so much damage

I wouldbe interested to seeSheffield Hallam re voted as they are one of the seats people missed voting at ( huge numbers of students) as shed if Clegg still got in now he is favouring Tories .

Liberty are collecting info from voters who missed and are looking at it from human rights law according to BBC this am

Liam Fox has been being an arse all over the place this morning. He is today's CPHQ Nominated Tory Bastard. I do so look forward to getting to know him better over the coming months

I was listening to Harman y'day and thinking that, for all her faults, I used to have an internal 'yay!' moment every time she popped up - a proper grown-up egalitarian feminist in a position of power. And now we'll have Teresa 'my jacket is fashioned from my own hair' May.

On the plus side, I look forward to people like Phil Woolas sinking back into well deserved obscurity.

Gordonsavingexpertdotcom · 08/05/2010 10:45

PMSL at Teresa May description policywonk. LG I've been fretting about the same thing - you don't have to have votes on cuts - God people are going to be SO sorry they voted for them or didn't vote (a third of the population! Where were you?)

jenny60 · 08/05/2010 10:45

I think Ben Bradshaw knows something. As one of tghe biggest pro-PR labour people, he's been wheeled out. Ssuspect LDs will say no Tories who'll have a minority gov and the progressives will torment them from the sidelines under the leadership of Clegg and D Miliband. IF we did get a ref on PR it would have to be won. Murdoch put everything into a Tory majority and even he couldn't manage it.
