OP posts:

We've put cbeebies on - makes a lot more sense than BBC news

It's bloody disappointing that in some areas the turnout was so low and in others, so high they couldn't cope.

Of course where I live it's a tory heartland, the candidate would pretty much have to eat kittens live on TV before anyone voted for another candidate (and there were only two standing in the locals too!)

tbh, even the fact that the Tory have missed a majority makes me happy. Could not bear to watch them celebrating.

Who would be a possible successor for Brown, if he were to step down? Is there anyone in discussion?

Leningrad I would like to see fundamental electoral reform - fixed term parliaments, elected second chamber, some proportional system of voting. But I just don't think that is a majority view in this country - and in particular we haven't had a clear electoral mandate for ANY type of reform. So even if we could get to having a referendum, I'm not convinced we'd win it.

ImSoNotTelling · 07/05/2010 10:35

wmmc that just happened here

I changed channels to find nick clegg coming out of a house and making a speech

What I got was laulau from waybulloo come out of a little hut and annouce that she liked sparkly things

DH and I nodded sagely

The voice of reason on BBC News is David Steele

MmeLindtChocBrownies · 07/05/2010 10:36

Lol at the BBC doing the split screen thing with the pictures of Nick's car. Ooooh, look. It is a car.

Am tired. Hope they hurry up

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 10:36

Personally I'd like Harriet, as deputy, to be the caretaker leader.

ImSoNotTelling · 07/05/2010 10:36

So pleased about the greens in brighton though

Heathcliffscathy · 07/05/2010 10:37

you know this is a huge victory for the left really:

all the scaremongering about economic meltdown hasn't galvanised the country to vote tory at all!

the conservatives thought they would romp home a month or two ago!

ImSoNotTelling · 07/05/2010 10:37

I think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit

wubblybubbly · 07/05/2010 10:38

What about John Denham? Not high profile enough maybe?

nearlytoolate · 07/05/2010 10:40

I feel so let down that Labour didn't reform the electoral system when they actually had a chance.
We could really do with a revolution

And I really want to hug all the married middle/upper-earners who voted lib-lab.*

WELL DONE YOU.

A victory for compassion over self-interest.
