I know we've already linked to the pukeworthy Sun front page - but has anyone linked to the even more vomitous Daily Sport front page? (Though I have to confess the Gordon speech bubble did make me snurk)

In my defence, depressed valiant and proud lefties need every laugh they can get...

TheFallenMadonna · 06/05/2010 18:39

Is this a Labour ghetto or are Lib Dems allowed in?

Was talking to my sixth formers today about the election where all the exit polls suggested a close thing and the Tories romped home. Tried hard not to let the fear show.

Strongly fear the worst.

salizchap · 06/05/2010 18:39

Elbows out... make room for a big lady!

LOL at the 'hideous wax-face' comment!

thetoriesaretoast · 06/05/2010 18:39

Is Charlie Brooker on Channel 4 out of the question? Hope not.

monkeysmama · 06/05/2010 18:40

Have we got anyone on here who knows about elections? What I mean is, anyone who
knows what seatss matter / tell us something. I have a vague idea but am sure someone knows more than me. Might help us with when to stay up
til / get up etc.

Checking in. Tough day at work and I think I'm going to need wine to get me through this - just got eight ballet costumes to alter first.

SpringHeeledJack · 06/05/2010 18:42

I am going for battered sausage and chips and watching channel 4

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 18:42

Signing in.

Insomnia's been hell lately but tonight I'm going to hit the diazepam or there's no way I'll get any sleep for worrying about Tory victory.

Marking my, spot about to leave work and go and cast my vote. Have booked tomorrow off so I can drown my sorrows and not have to turn up with a hangover/no sleep.

Also feeling very depressed today at the thought of a tory government, and had some bad news about a colleague at work which really didn't help my mood.

DH has cast his vote on his way back from picking up the DCs and says the polling station was very quiet...

tvaerialmagpiebin · 06/05/2010 18:44

Hello all.
Marking place for later.

Am in a fairly marginal seat and also really like my Labour MP and his wife so will be watching behnd sofa in a Dr Who-esque way at 10pm.

Don't know if I can face staying up but can't face switching on r4 tomorrow at 6am to hear "David Cameron said he was proud.... blah blah".

Am recalling joyful all-nighter pulled in 97 - were you still up for Portillo?!

ImSoNotTelling · 06/05/2010 18:44

Marking place.

Have voted, but went bananas in the booth and put all my x's not where I'd planned. Never mind it always happens to me - I vote with my heart.

V anxious here as well. Had a run in with a tory earlier and it was not pleasant.

Have election night curry in the fridge... but will probably conk about at about 11.30 I have small children...

theyoungvisiter · 06/05/2010 18:45

DH has just gone out to get Extra Wine.
Strictly for medicinal purposes of course.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 18:46

I think I might start painting one of the rooms.

Or my finger and toenails.

Going to cover my grey tonight, too.

Anything to keep me occupied.

I can't stand it!

In the US they start calling states soon after the polls close in those states, as the ballots are electronic mostly and the deadline for postal voting is well in advance of the election, so you have some idea how it's going to go fairly early on after midnight.

But here, the anticipation is killing me!

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 18:46

I feel like smoking and pacing the floor!

Signing in.

First thing tomorrow, I'm paying my subs to Labour.

laydeestardust · 06/05/2010 18:49

Come on fellow lefties, it can't happen, it just can't.

I've asked the Universe and it told me all will be well, Gordon is staying.

Off to drink lots of wine and mutter the Internationale or something to keep myself from screaming.Feel a bit sick tbh.

Stay strong comrades

Oh lordie, how could I poss have forgotten Charlie and David "The Lovely David" Mitchell?

That has genuinely cheered me. DP taken kids to get Chinese, and the thought of squid is also lifting my mood.

Today I've been writing a weekly round up of social media news that I do, and I've had to leave a blank where the election result should be. No point even speculating, have to fill in the gaps tomorrow. That's an odd feeling.

expatinscotland · 06/05/2010 18:51

without tranqs, i can easily make it to 3AM, and that's without caffeine, either.

hmm, can put that second coat of paint on the wee chest of drawers.

thetoriesaretoast · 06/05/2010 18:52

Have started drinking already. Is that bad? DH is out picking up DD and I've begged DS not to leave me to go and play on Wii. He assured me it's only to kill a Fascist baddie, prised my fingers off his arm and headed up to his room.

monkeysmama · 06/05/2010 18:53

Our polling station was really busy this morning.

One thing that has made me happy is to see some of the names in here. I'm usually firmly in the S&B threads and though you banter with people you never know their political leanings.
