Marking place valiant, proud and in denial optimistic (perhaps because I'm in France so not able the read The Mood).

WilfSellOut · 06/05/2010 16:29

Checking in for later...

WilfSellOut · 06/05/2010 16:30

BIWI, I have sent DH out to stock up on wine and cheese for a special almost-low-carb drowning our sorrows evening.

I think we're allowed tonight

Bucharest · 06/05/2010 16:31

Well, an awful lot of my FB friends seem to have voted libdem. (hopefully as a tactical thing to keep the Conservatives out and not just because "That there Nick does seem lovely") a few spoiled ballot papers (how very mature) but my one personal victory is that HalfwomanHalfsofa (my stepsister) actually got her arse off the sofa and voted (because I kept telling her David would take her tax credits away) Mwahahahahaha.

Meglet · 06/05/2010 16:33

bookmarking with a pig-headed sense of optimism that it won't be too bad after all....

Checking in...I console myself with the though if the tories get in, they will last 4 years and not be in power again for a good 50 years after that!!

Election day is weird isn't it - the news is suddenly full of non-stories, don't-mention-the-war-style.

Was a little bit cheered by Farage's comedy plane crash (although the pilot is quite badly hurt apparently so not that funny).

motherinferior · 06/05/2010 16:46

Signing in with acute flashback to 1979, when at least I had perky bosoms and a Life to Look Forward To (admittedly the best years of it passed under the Tories...)

PositiveLabourVibes · 06/05/2010 16:47

Signing up - leftie, loud and proud!

Just waiting for the clock so I can go home and cast my vote...

And to crack open the cheese and wine (red, naturally )

Laugs · 06/05/2010 16:49

I think that's it Policywonk, you turn on the news and they are talking about Nothing. It's like it's the end of the world and they don't want us to notice just yet.

Sorry, forgot the valiant mood there!

HalfTermHero · 06/05/2010 16:51

Wanted to vote Labour but mine is a pretty certain lib dem seat so voted lib dem in order to do my very best to keep out those bastard conservatives.

Takver · 06/05/2010 16:51

Another depressed one here - everyone I know seems to have voted LibDem because they hate labour nearly as much as the tories (fine, except we're in a Lab/Cons marginal and they hate Labour for not being left enough . . .)

It is like the twilight zone. Including the Farage crash.

RedRedApples · 06/05/2010 16:54

Valiant & Proud leftie checking in - marvelous thread title btw.

geekgirl · 06/05/2010 16:58

just joining the fray - I can't vote due to being foreign - have only lived here all my adult life but never mind - am following it all with lashings of anxiety though. I have told the children we'll go out for dinner tomorrow if the Tories don't win.
I don't think I'll stay up past 11 - so many constituencies, ours included, won't be counted until tomorrow morning anyway and I don't have the stamina for an all-nighter. Dh is going to recreate our 1997 election night tea tonight (curry)

tethersendisnigh · 06/05/2010 17:07

How foreign are you, geekgirl?

My DP was horrified to find out he can't vote (EU citizen), but Commonwealth citizens can...

smallishsheep · 06/05/2010 17:11

Only 2 hours til kiddie bedtime. Then will be having big huge spring clean to release pent up anxiety, then sitting down with wine for what is going to be a loooooong night

policywonk · 06/05/2010 17:12

My dad is merrily sailing his little boat around Greece at the moment - he's just rung me for an update, because he can't get an internet connection. (I even had to tell him that there were riots in Athens.) Anyway he wants me to text him when the Richmond Park result gets in as he's hoping that 'all teeth and no trousers' (Zac Goldsmith) won't swing it for the Tories.

Kay, am I to take it you voted Labour then? Or would you rather not say

KayHarker · 06/05/2010 17:16
WillbeanChariot · 06/05/2010 17:18

Checking in, hello all. Grauniad is depressing today but I am trying to maintain optimism.

Have got some beers in, will get out the sofa bed and hope DS doesn't get woken by me shouting at the telly.

magentadreamer · 06/05/2010 17:19

Voted first thing I fear this time tomorrow Dave and his crew will be in no10
