Watch out folks, you heard it here first. My husband is a senior economist and is seriously seriously worried about what's about to happen. We need to do all we can to avert a major economical disaster. GB has got us here, do not let him take us further into crisis.

OP posts:
CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 05/05/2010 21:52

crikey - major AND economical - now that's quite a feat

ShowOfHands · 05/05/2010 21:52

Deal!

Now, see how easy it is when we all work together.

Lilymaid · 05/05/2010 21:53

How are the Greeks getting here to riot? Will we be seeing a large wooden horse around the City of London?
Tell us more ... DS1 is an economist working in banking and seems to have missed this information.

poorbuthappy · 05/05/2010 21:53

Mega! ...alls well that ends well...

happikidz · 05/05/2010 21:54

Also, Greece has to ask its lenders for more cash right now and most of our's doesn't need negotiation for another 4 years. That is why Gordon has a 4 year plan to draw down the deficit. So far we have had no problems selling our govt debt. so are nothing like Greece.

I love how the Tories claim to be fighting a positive campaign but they scaremongers!

Did anyone notice how much flak Brown got for taking on the debt of the banks and that not only did it spare us instant meltdown and mass crisis, we will actually make a profit?

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2010 21:54

Excellent

A balanced thread, with balanced negotiating and power sharing.

atlantis · 05/05/2010 21:54

"I haven't got the energy tbh"

You and me both. Bloody canvassing.

I hope to God whatever happens there isn't going to be a hung parliament and another bloomin election anytime soon because I'm sure i've walked at least 8 inches from my legs and I have so many blisters I might just find some relief in cutting off my feet and don't even get me started on the weather and having a bad hair day I could pass for medusa right now and to top it all I have a 4x4 foot sign in my grden that says CONSERVATIVE on it, CONSTERVATIVE posters on my window a CONSERVATIVE bloody estate agent sign thingy a car with vote CONSERVATIVE sticker in the back and a sign on my front door that says please don't canvass me i'm voting CONSERVATIVE, so you'd think the bloody LIB DEM guy would not have walked up my drive and handed me a bloody flyer !!!!!!!

I take comfort in knowing this time tomorrow-ish the polls will close and I don't have to walk anymore....Oh wait, yes I do because I have to deliver the bloomin thank you for voting flyers !!!!!

Is this what they call having a meltdown?

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2010 21:55

it'll all be over soon

EachPeachPearMum · 05/05/2010 21:58

Ha- my DH is a mathematician... he says "oh... when's the election then?"

ShowOfHands · 05/05/2010 21:58

100x aren't we reasonable? How refreshing. I'll fix the economy later, I'm okay with maths. Computer has a spreadsheet whatsit on it somewhere I think.

I've thought long and hard about it (well, my mind wandered a bit while washing up this morning) and I don't think I realistically trust anybody that wants to run a country. I feel the same way about them as I do about people who want to jump out of planes or watch Nigella on the telly. They're not normal are they?

fabhead · 05/05/2010 21:59

Surely an economical crisis, if we must have one, would be the best sort (sorry, sorry, it's been done, I know)

I do wish these gap year house of commons interns or whoever they are would eff off now, whatever party they are agitating for. Do they really think anyone on here will go "oooh that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that, maybe I will change my voting intentions!"

Has the opposite effect on me.

atlantis · 05/05/2010 21:59

""

Thank you sooooo much. Can I get a straw with that?

ShowOfHands · 05/05/2010 22:00

atlantis, any chance you're so fatigued that you'll accidentally do something like this tomorrow...

Labour X

?

Habbibu · 05/05/2010 22:00

It's the CONSTERVATIVE poster that's confused them, atlantis. But your Medusa reference worries me - that would be quite a scary riot. Are you the Greek that will riot in the UK?

Coolfonz · 05/05/2010 22:01

I'm voting Labour/Lib Dem then

SpringHeeledJack · 05/05/2010 22:01

this thread is geeeeenius

atlantis · 05/05/2010 22:02

"atlantis, any chance you're so fatigued that you'll accidentally do something like this tomorrow...

Labour X

? "

I'm tired not labotomized showofhands, sorry.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2010 22:02

Poor Atlantis

Actually I always double-check, does anyone else do this, I always think I might put X in completely the wrong box, in a moment of madness. Like veering the car off the road into a wall type thing.

No, wanting to run the country is not normal, but that's okay. I'm glad I don't want to do it tbh

ooojimaflip · 05/05/2010 22:03

animula - you found three economists who agreed with each other?

HerBeatitude · 05/05/2010 22:04
OrmRenewed · 05/05/2010 22:05

Gaaarrghh! Noooo

ShowOfHands · 05/05/2010 22:06

Yes, like staring into the swirling depths off the back of the Dover/Calais ferry. That moment of madness, will my pen slip, will I plunge into the political depths and accidentally vote UKIP?

Not happened yet, but I do run in and run out just in case.

animula · 05/05/2010 22:06

oojimaflip - they don't know each other.

Seriously, though, I don't know any right-ish economists. I think I need to widen my circle a bit.

Hassled · 05/05/2010 22:06

If we get Greek riots will we get the Greek army? I saw them once in Athens - they look like this. It would cheer us all up - especially Atlantis .

ShowOfHands · 05/05/2010 22:07

Who do I have to vote in for Swiss riots? I quite fancy joining the Top Secret Drum Corps. And the choc thing obv.
