Do post your advance questions here.

OP posts:

Sustainable Development Commission disagrees with your husband octtothechildherder.

No one likes to talk about the waste nuclear power generates and where that is going to go. Funny that.

I'd like to see an acknowledgement of Beaware's posts actually. They rest of the world take vcjd blood screening much more seriously than we do.

EricPicklesFatNeck · 03/05/2010 20:19

lol @ gordonbrown about mandy!

MollieO · 03/05/2010 20:19

Maybe you should have a word with E.Balls re tactical voting - he has been suggesting Labour supporters in marginal seats should vote Lib Dem!

Jaquelinehyde · 03/05/2010 20:19

Been following all the chat and I just wanted to say a massive

GOOD LUCK GORDAN!!

I for one am grateful for everything Labour has done for me, my partner, and my children.

Come on Labour lets do this!

GordonBrown · 03/05/2010 20:19

Dittany and long fingernails and everyone else asking about the reason for the increase in the deficit - you are right, the deficit is not just about the money we needed to keep the banks going. It is also because the financial crisis led to a global recession. That meant tax revenues fell - as firms and families are not doing so well and not paying so much tax. It also means more spending on unemployment benefit and other benefits that those on lower income receive. And in addition we decided that unlike in previous recessions, we would take action to help people through the recession, e.g. giving businesses help with cash flow, and support to help those losing their job avoid repossession.

It sounds like Ed Ball wants my vote in return.

Is this a bad idea Prime Minister?

SanctiMoanyArse · 03/05/2010 20:20

EmsieP

I was in your sit a few years abck (still have the kids natc, also have the degree now)

Consider an access part time; Carers Allowance only stops for courses above a set number of hours and I foudnaccess quite easy to work around that (well, at the time I didnt get carters but around similar hours for chidlcare purposes) and access can't have been that bad, I was offered Bristol and someone else on my course applied for and was awrded Oxbridge (I always regretted not applying just to see but it never occurred)

For childcare, you can approach colleges via access fiunds.

Hello Mr Brown- I think it is being forgotten in debates that

i) the Conservatives laissez-faire approach would have meant a deeper depression

ii)before monetary policy was handed over to BoE the conservatives used to politicise IR decisions which meant high IRs in the end. This recession, with all the difficulty and gloom, has NOT led to as much hardship as during conservative era.

iii)Health service has improved in the last 12 years

iv)transport has stabilised

Gordon, I am one of the quarter of a million people in this country who suffer from ME.I can no longer work and rely on a company ill health pension and benefits. As a mother of two children I would dearly love the chance to recover and get back to work and a normal lifestyle.
I have been told my my GP several times there is no treatment for this illness.
Please tell me what the NHS is doing for people like myself.

mumutd · 03/05/2010 20:21

laziness There was no room at the inn so to speak when I had my 4th, but they found a bed for me in the Theater recovery room and I had my best birth experience of all 4. Please don't worry

AndreaisSlowlyLosingIt · 03/05/2010 20:21

Glad to see you're so concerned about middle class familys Gordon as you're obviously not concerned about the lower class familys who should obviously take their votes elsewhere if they want support.

hunkermunker · 03/05/2010 20:21

Gordon, if you email me re breastfeeding, I will vote for my Labour candidate (and I wasn't going to).

There you go. Can't say fairer than that

hunkermunker at gmail dot com in case you missed it last time.

GordonBrown · 03/05/2010 20:22

rosie2010 - are children's centres safe with Labour? Yes, we've build three and a half thousand and they are now at the centre of the community (look at just some at www.changewesee.com). You also asked - are child tax credits safe with the other parties? They are safe with us but I have to tell you honestly that both the Liberal and Conservative parties want to cut tax credits for middle class families - they should be honest about how many families and children would be hit.

CaptainNancy · 03/05/2010 20:22

I know that nymphadora- hence my disclaimer at the end.
Maybe it's somehting you could be lobbying you LEA with via your secondary/primary HeadTeachers Fora?

VengefulKitty · 03/05/2010 20:22

I was sure I was going to vote Lib Dem, but I may be being swayed after this?

Argh, I hate trying to understand politics!

Bumperliouzzzzzz · 03/05/2010 20:22

This webchat system is driving me a bit mad actually. People still keep harping on 'what about my question?' or keep asking more questions, and earlier questions get lost.

I vote for webchat reform

Dizzeee · 03/05/2010 20:22

If everybody asked one question over and over again it would clog the thread up. I'm sure all who have posted would like an answer - there just isn't time.

I blame Paxo.

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 03/05/2010 20:22

megcleary

From web chat guidelines:

"With the best will in the world, guests can't always get through every question, but we make every effort to bring common themes to their attention. Please don't be too disappointed if your specific question doesn't get answered and do try not to keep posting "What about me?".

Heathcliffscathy · 03/05/2010 20:23

gordon YOU deregulated the city! do you agree that is in part responsible for the mess of the banking crisis???

Piffpaffpoff · 03/05/2010 20:23

ha ha louii - best question of the night! (presume you are a fellow fifer?)

SwingVoter · 03/05/2010 20:24

Not really a question but please could you say why I should vote labour - go on sell it to me - I'm middle of the road purple at the mo and struggling to decide... ;)

Jaquelinehyde · 03/05/2010 20:24

GORDON I meant GORDON not GORDAN

politicsgraduate · 03/05/2010 20:24

To emsiep: try the Open University-you may get ALL your fees paid, you can study at your own rate incresing your chances of success in your studies and you can do this in the evening when your children are in bed.

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/05/2010 20:24
